Reviews for Hotel Casmona
Review 1:The staff go out of their way to be helpful. The owner is charming, speaks excellent English, and went out of his way to help us with our Italian. The rooms are fresh and comfortable. The waiter Lorenzo is a real character, always happy and full of fun, and has been there for 25 years. Lovely homely atmosphere. Hotel Casmona is right on the beach and it is lovely to hear the "whoosh" of the waves against the pebbles. We left our window open at night so we could hear the waves. Really calming. We liked it so much we have listed it as one of our favourite holiday hotels and destinations. Can really recommend it.
Review 2:The breakfast. The breakfast each day consisted of what had not been eaten the day before, or the day before that!
Review 3:Location with glorious views of the sea from our window. The outdoor areas where you could relax and enjoy the view.
Review 4:Most staff spoke very poor English. Phone broken in room. Needed travel help from front desk but couldn't get help because of poor or no English. NO ELEVATOR. 4th floor room.
Review 5:Location; view.
Review 6:Expected more from this hotel. Room Facilities basic. Bathroom shocking. Noisy fridge. Better hotels up the road in Santa Margurite.
Review 7:The location of the hotel is very close to the esplanade. Our room overlooked the ocean but the view was obscured by shutters. Airconditioning worked well.
Review 8:Car park and Station is about 600 meters away and you have to drag your bags and climb steep stairs before you get to the hotel. It can be quite a workout.
Review 9:Excellent Location and very helpful staff. Great view from the room.
Review 10:The location and the quirkiness of the staff - not your typical well honed and well drilled bunch! Plus we were upgraded to a larger room which had a fabulous sea view.
Review 11:The hotel has an arrangement for interior parking down the street from the hotel, but the directions provided to find the lot weren't clear so I ended up having to put the car in a pay-lot overnight, costing a steep 40 Euros. The shower was quite cramped and a little tricky to get into and out of. The wifi was a bit fluxy but I was able to access eventually.
Review 12:When I arrived I was so pleased to find out that my room was upgraded from a 'partial sea view room' to a room with a complete and wonderful view over the sea coast and the promenade below. This allowed me to also enjoy the animated life of the town along the water's edge during the evening and morning as well as providing the soundscape of waves and surf throughout the night. Very special.
Review 13:If you have mobility problems, forget it, but that applies to most of Italy.
Review 14:Wonderful view from the window, with the sound of the sea, cicadas and swifts.
Review 15:Position in town and the sign posting to the hotel made it easy to find when driving. Someone cancelled and I got upgraded to a larger room and a sea view. The view is directly over the water and promenade. It is extremely close to the train station. Easy to arrive by train and catch a train to Portofino/Sante Marguerita.
Review 16:The wifi was intermittent.
Review 17:Camogli is a convenient base to catch the train to Genova, and down to Cinque Terre, as well as a charming little seaside town. The Casmona is in the best spot in town. Our balcony/terrace overlooked the sea, directly above the beach, and was a short walk to the station, and the parking lot. Driving in and parking were easy. The hotel staff were wonderfully helpful, and our room (they upgraded us to the 'superior double' was spacious, comfortable and quiet).
Review 18:upkeep and cleanliness. Shower was old, dirty and drained so poorly that water had to be shut off between soaping and rinsing. Bed was two singles pushed together with a noticeable gap. Everything was old and not maintained. Wifi, though free didn't make it to the room.
Review 19:location. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was adequate. Coffee was good and plentiful.
Review 20:The stairs from the street to the hotel is quite steep, specifically if one carried a suitcase. But Staff Alexandro was very helpful.
Review 21:Beautifully overviews the ocean, promenade and the town.all the small details of a classic boutique hotel, such as bath room cabin spaces...friendly staff Alexandro.
Review 22:Breakfast not worth it. One flight of stone steps down to hotel entrance, another down to the beach. No lift in hotel could be problematic for some. The common areas are outdated but our room was lovely.
Review 23:Our room with terrace overlooking Camogli -- breathtaking. Room the size of a suite with lovely linens and towels. lots of storage space. Could easily stay awhile.
Review 24:The steps to reach the hotel
Review 25:I love the view from our balcony right on the sea and the village.the staff was friendly, the bed comfortable, the room very and quiet. We will come back!
Review 26:Everybody was very nice and helpfull. I felt immediatly at home. Wonderfull are the two quiet terraces overlooking the sea. The situation of the hotel is unique. Ruth Lucerne
Review 27:The Wifi was a little unpredictable, like in all Italian small towns. Breakfast wasn't included, but we ate in small cafes around the corner. There was a 10% discount at the hotel restaurant, where the views & food were wonderful! It was difficult to get ice, depending on who you asked, but some staff are more willing to help than others. The night staff seems a little less helpful than the day staff.. although Fortunato, you were very helpful! We did end up finding ice at a bar down the road..
Review 28:This hotel was a few steps from the train station, right on the beach in the small town. The views from the room, the terraces, the dining area were amazing! You stepped right down onto the beach and the main street was on the other side of the hotel with good coffee shops & restaurants
Review 29:Very expencive compared to similar hotels in France. We had an unfortunate experience that was solved after some discussion, we had to leave the room, and as the hotel was fully booked , we had to move to another hotel, the albergo Alberta. The manager was in the end very helpful and apologizing.
Review 30:We had a nice room with ocean view. Lovely breakfast. Charming town.
Review 31:Hotel below street level w no car access. Had to bring own luggage down long flight of stairs just to get to front door of hotel. Then had to carry luggage down 2 flights to room. No assistance from hotel staff.
Review 32:After being there 5 minutes, I tried to cancel by reservation to stay at a hotel in Cinque Terre where we were supposed to stay 2 nights later. We weren't able to cancel the CQ reservation but I wish we had because Camogli and Hotel Casmona was so beautiful and restful. You can hear the waves all day and night from the room. The breakfast was great, the staff attentive. We loved it.
Review 33:Very expensive, but the cheapest I could find in Camogli. Breakfast waseur10 each extra, which was too much for us
Review 34:Great location, right on the waterfront, and very friendly staff
Review 35:Narrow, winding staircase to downstairs room was very difficult to navigate with suitcases and a stroller. Same with the entrance, which is only accessible by descending a staircase. It is due to the geography of coastal Camogli, but having help with the luggage would have made a big difference. Would not recommend for people with difficulty navigating stairs.
Review 36:Extremely kind and helpful staff, very accommodating to our 3 month-old baby. Room was right in front of ocean, with fantastic view.
Review 37:It was hard to find the entrance by car, and once we got there everything involved stairs, we had very heavy bags which made it difficult to get settled in.
Review 38:The location was fabulous. I fell in love with Camogili. Staff was very helpful and directed us to two fabulous restaurants.
Review 39:Cheap bedroom furniture, bathrooms need update. foyer v shabby. Breakfast average
Review 40:Loved the location, staff v helpful and friendly, hotel a bit shabby and needs updating but had a charm due to its excellent location.
Review 41:Alesandro, our view room with a deck and the location.
Review 42:Great location in a wonderful environment
Review 43:Roma are a little dated
Review 44:Very friendly staff. Great location. AC worked well and very quiet
Review 45:la situation, la gentillesse des personnes de l'hotel
Review 46:When we arrived we were greeted very kindly and with lovely enthusiasm and told we had been upgraded to a bigger room which was just beautiful!
Review 47:rooms, lobby dated
Review 48:Location unbeatable
Review 49:Poor choice for breakfast .
Review 50:Reception staff went out of their way to help us when we had to deal with an urgent business matter.
Review 51:It is located directly at the beach front. Thus one has an incredible view from the nice balconies, and one can hear the sound of the waves tumbling.
Review 52:Peaceful and relaxing
Review 53:Room had terrace and great views of the sea
Review 54:Wifi was a bit fickle but was not there to use my computer so...
Review 55:The view and location was excellent. Room was spacious and comfortable. Free upgrade!
Review 56:Very small bathrooms, towels like kitchen towels, breakfast was only average
Review 57:Sea views from bedroom, location in Camogli
Review 58:I would have liked a view from farther up the hill
Review 59:great location
Review 60:A hike if you have bags and the rooms and furnishings were getting tired. Breakfast was pretty skinny.
Review 61:The view and the location close to the beach.
Review 62:Could probably do with a bit of refubishing. Breakfast not too good..
Review 63:The best sea view of our whole Italy trip! Central Staff
Review 64:Great location. Two minute walk from train station and great views of the water from our room. Extremely clean as well.
Review 65:rooms need a bit of a refreshing
Review 66:View is spectacular, can't be better in terms of location. Staff had a great sense of humour and helpful
Review 67:but some of the other rooms can be claustaphobic
Review 68:rooms with a balcony
Review 69:Tiny shower cubicle. Intermittent Wifi.
Review 70:Beautiful view and the sound of ocean waves from our window. Helpful staff, very nice breakfast given for our stay even though we had not prepaid for it.
Review 71:I booked car parking with the hotel but this was very hard to find even with their map. You have to pick up a fob from them then go to car park. It's in the train station just in case. I think it would be useful if it said that on the website and if they informed guests exactly where it is as I could have out that in my sat nav.
Review 72:Excellent breakfast with excellent views over the beach. Lovely friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
Review 73:Yes, the shower had mould in it! Why, I don't know since every thing else was very clean.
Review 74:Location, location, location. Hanging over the sea wall, this hotel has uninterrupted views over the Paradise Gulf. It is centrally placed in the town and just 100m from the railway station. And it's a great town- better than most on the Cinque Terre.
Review 75:The hotel is getting dated and the decor needs an upgrade. Promotion of their 3-star rating was everywhere - but that just puzzled us given comparable hotels in this area. The wifi our 1st floor room was poor.
Review 76:This hotel is all about the view. That's about it.
Review 77:Nothing
Review 78:The location was brilliant, being on the bay surrounded by quality restaurants, and an easy train trip to the sensational hiking of the Cinque Terre. The staff were super friendly and worked beyond expectations.
Review 79:Nothing.
Review 80:Absolutely UNBEATABLE location. The rooms with the balcony are incredible! Breakfast was very good. The service was excellent. All in all, I can't imagine a better place to stay in that area.
Review 81:absolutely nothing negative about it, except the fact that parking is a little ways down the street. But even that isn't bad because the reduced number of cars helps it keep it's quaint feel...
Review 82:Absolutely FABULOUS hotel in the best possible location. Beautiful, large balcony room right on the water. Only a few steps away from the boardwalk and the beautiful town square/harbor. Breakfast was good as well. Looking around there, I doubt you could possibly find a better location and/or a better value.
Review 83:Endless stairs. Not good for an older person. Staff could learn a little English.... They are happy enough to take our money. Poor lighting for reading in rooms. One of the chairs fell apart.
Review 84:Location on beach with terrace.
Review 85:We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. Room 302 is wonderful! Best balcony and view in the town. Staff was great- this was my 2nd time in this destination. Love everything about this hotel!
Review 86:very helpful, nice and welcoming staff. Always saw and greeted/had control of WHO entered, which feels safe with kids. Fantastic location, would love to go Again.
Review 87:Price is a little high, camparing with hotels in similar towns or cinque terre region, probably because of very limited number of hotels in Camogli, but at least they should include breakfast in that price.
Review 88:Front rooms have great view and sleeping with sounds of waves was really romantic. Hotel's location is great!
Review 89:This is not the fault of the hotel of course, but the sea-water (on the charming beach in front of the charming hotel Casmona) was somewhat polluted. I went for a short swim nonetheless.
Review 90:The hotel is superbly located a few steps (almost literally) from and between the train station and the beach, with fine views of the attractive town of Camogli and the sea. The hotel building and staff have charm.
Review 91:Very small bathroom, also needs some renovation, however the great location overrules this lack
Review 92:The location is excellent, directly at the sea (no street between the hotel and the beach), wonderful view, nice breakfast room and terrace, clean and modern room
Review 93:That there wasn't a lift. Many, many stairs. Parking was a bit difficult. Suggestion: post a sign indicating the parking lot at the lot.
Review 94:Being next to the sea.
Review 95:The location of the hotel is magical - right on the beach with only the entertaining boardwalk inbewteen to people watch from the window of your room. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful - our stay was a total pleasure!
Review 96:Double bed was two singles put together (which we found to be common in Italy). As others have mentioned, there was a big flight of stairs to tackle with luggage.
Review 97:It was a beautiful hotel with a wonderful view. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, fridge in room. Staff was super friendly. Free welcome drink. We were able to leave our luggage since we arrived before the room was ready. Fantastic location - right near train station, supermarket, shops, restaurants, and beach.
Review 98:The hotel should have made more out of their beautiful location andview. The place has great potentials. The hotel was a bit old and thehalls smelled a bit strange. But all in all a nice place for a onenight stay.Parking is far away, and the steps up to the main street can be tough if you carry heavy luggage...
Review 99:Nice location and great view. The staff is helpful and serviceminded. The room is nice and you have enough space under the ceiling.. It wasfantastic to listen to the waves from the ocean. Because the ac did notwork, we got a refund on our room. Fair and reasonable.
Review 100:It is hard to check in with the luggages since there is a stairway downto the hotel's entrance. It is a pity that the hotel staff does not helpyou with your luggages netiher at the check in nor at the check out.
Review 101:The location is excellent, right by the beach, close to all restaurants. The staff is very friendly and welcoming
Review 102:Perfect location with beautiful view right on the water. Walk toeverything in town. Ac and wifi handy. We managed to get free parking inthe village and left car there for the whole time. Walk or trainconvenient to nearby towns if necessary. A charming seaside village tostay where Italians take their holidays and not crowded with tourists,Highly recommended
Review 103:The breakfast was very simple and costed 10 Euro pr. Person.
Review 104:We had a very nice view from the hotel of the Mediterranean sea. Camogliwas a small and charming village and there were many nice restaurantsjust few minutes from the hotel. The location of the hotel was splendid.
Review 105:Everything!! Stayed in room 302 which was very large and had asitting area with a sofa and a desk. There were double French doorsopening to a 15' by 20' veranda which overlooked the beach and camewith two lounge chairs, a metal table with four chairs and anumbrella which was not needed because of a large tree which offeredprotection from the afternoon sun. Camogli and Hotel Casmona areunderstated and very special!
Review 106:The usual very small shower enclosures are difficult and uncomfortable but this sems to be essentially Italian and not confined to the hotel.
Review 107:The location overlooking the Mediterranean Sea cannot be bettered. The promenade along the foreshore with shops, cafes, pasticceria, and restaurants provides huge choice as does the fishing port section also. The arrival of the small fishing boats each morning with their fresh catch is an experience and provides much of the excellent seafood in the restaurants. Camogli has excellent transport connections of train, bus and ferry for adjacent areas from San Frutuossso to Portofino and to the Cinque Terre. The hotel staff were very accommodating and gave good advice on connections and how to get around.
Review 108:The breakfast was mediocre for 10 euro each, and not worth the money. They need more variety. On the last morning there was not one freshpiece of fruit. Also, I do not know why hotels do not offer anadditional coffee if you want it. A cup of coffee costs nothing to make, and it would be welcomed by most guests. A nice gesture is when youarrive to be offered a cup of coffee, especially when you have beentravelling for 6 hours to get there.
Review 109:We got upgraded to a better room, it is good that hotels do this whenthey are not full.
Review 110:Everything, except I can't understand why Continental Hotels don't havea kettle and tea and coffee for a decent cuppa first thing in themorning. But then as a teaaholic I don't understand why nobody abroadknows how to dunk a tea bag properly, anyway.
Review 111:Expensive for a 3 star hotel and awful continental breakfast
Review 112:Location, tranquillity and friendly staff
Review 113:Fantastic location, good value for money
Review 114:Beyond the great location, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 115:Staff was exceptionally wonderful.
Review 116:No pressure in shower.
Review 117:Lovely position and extremely helpful staff.
Review 118:multiple stairs to reach the hotel but consistent with that location's topography.
Review 119:excellent location and outstanding view of ocean/beach.
Review 120:The bathroom shower stall was covered in mildew and it was growing on the bathroom floor. I would not stay here again.
Review 121:Location
Review 122:Compact shower cubicle
Review 123:Location, views, friendly helpful staff - nothing was a problem for them
Review 124:A bit pricey
Review 125:hotel was so central and on the beach
Review 126:The hard bed & pillow
Review 127:Everything except the hard bed & pillow
