Reviews for Hotel Casa Caprile

Review 1:On arrival shown to small double with view onto a wall !! Having said no and shown booking.com confirmation clearing stating seaview suite were told there was no suite and shown another double room. Saying no again staff said there had been a mistake and we had a suite ! No working phone in room and no staff on site at night. As we were both unwell, asked to be shown how to use the phone in reception to call the overnight emergency contact number (fortunately didnt need to).

Review 2:Beautiful building from the 1900s built by Swedish queen as summer home. Our suite was large with beautiful domed ceiling and well appointed but the sea view was disappointingly distant and through trees. Nice view of hills though. After unwelcomng start the staff were very helpful and everything was very clean. Within easy walk of Anacapri centre, chairlift and buses

Review 3:The only things was that in our room wáter was a bit low pressure, but that is general problem in many places near Napoli so it was better than other hotels!

Review 4:This is beautiful villa, a romantic place very near to the best things to do and see in Anacapri. Our room was so nice with incredibly big terrace, decoration of the place is great, furniture and look at the sea... Stuff is very helpful and profesional. We will come back here for sure!

Review 5:There are many steps on the stairs after getting off the bus on anacapril. The hotel should have told us in advance. I carried my two bags myself and they have caused me back pain because of the steps and the slope. I will not go back to this hotel. There are rubbish left in the drawers in my room from the previous traveler. It was quite disgusting!!

Review 6:The bathroom really needs refurbishing, almost everything was old and/or broken.

Review 7:Amazing sun terrace with seaview and the Large and comfortable room.

Review 8:Wifi not working in rooms but we could go up to the main area so no big deal. Lots of stairs.

Review 9:Friendly staff. Great location, much nicer than Capri I thought. Fantastic views and quiet.

Review 10:the breakfast only included sweet things; wi-fi only in common area;

Review 11:the location was great, even with all the steps you have to take; the seaview, although obstructed, is worth it; the staff were extremely helpful; the morning coffee is great;

Review 12:wi-fi doesn't reach the bedrooms, only in reception area.

Review 13:The hostel is in Anacapri, which has less confusion than Capri. We stayed in a hotel with a balcony in front of an exterior garden, which was extremely nice. The room was very spacious and clean enough, and the breakfast was nice.

Review 14:Wifi does not work in the rooms. The rooms need renovation. The toilet was not clean. Several steps from the bus stop to the hotel. Not convenient if you have luggages. No air conditioning.

Review 15:The staff is nice.

Review 16:No wifi in the room!! Bathroom was pretty old (but clean). Double bed was two single beds pushed together and constantly sliding apart.

Review 17:Location was good and quiet. Breakfast was good for an italian style breakfast. Nice staff. Clean. Good AC.

Review 18:It is difficult to reach (many stairs). Compared to the room and the quality of services provided expensive. In need of renovation (especially the bathroom, even the superior room). Viewing the sea really meant that the trees had a small hole in the water.

Review 19:The superior room and the balcony was quite large. The breakfast was included coffee. The staff was helpful.

Review 20:Facility is very basic. There are quite a number of steps to the hotel from bus stop. It's not suitable if you carry heavy luggage. Wifi is not available in the room.

Review 21:Each room comes with a balcony. View is quite nice. Breakfast is good, coffee is great. The man who clean the garden is very nice. He helped us to carry luggage.

Review 22:There's only wifi in the breakfast area which is inside and quite dark. Breakfast was all sweet breads and cereals.. It was okay. Bus to and from anacapri are tiny and take a long time waiting. I would have had been quite happy to pay a little more and stay in a b&b in Capri

Review 23:It was good value for money in anacapri

Review 24:WiFi only on the ground floor, stains in the bathroom, very uncomfortable bed, small rooms, few steep stairs leading to the hotel. Pretty pricy

Review 25:Lovely breakfast, great location (the furthest bus stop in Anacapri guarantees you a seat on the bus towards Capri or Marina Grande - very efficient especially when catching the ferry from the port as a bus fill up very quick and might not take any more passengers from following stops). Very kind staff

Review 26:Amazing location. Only 7-10 minutes walk from center of Anacapri. We were upgraded to a sea view room without asking. Amazing view down to the water and the mountain on the other side. Huge room. Comfy and clean. Breakfast was simple but did the job. Bus stop at the top of the street. Staff were friendly and helpful. All spoke great English.

Review 27:Sadly, the room wasn't clean at all. It was quite shocking to see the spread stains on the bed cover. The shower was broken and dirty. There was only a wifi connection on the lobby, we couldn't get any signal from our room. And unfortunately, unlike what was told in the description, from the standard double room, there wasn't any sea view.

Review 28:We've got a really good deal with Hotel Casa Caprile on the last minute. The staff was very understanding and helpful although a slight problem of passport. Hotel is very well located in Anacapri and has very a sweet holiday housing design.

Review 29:When I booked the accommodation, the first thing I looked for was if the rooms had air conditioning which it stated that they did or they could be requested however when we got there, the room had no air conditioning and only a tiny little fan that basically did nothing. When I went to ask for air conditioning, they advised me that they had none left even though on my booking it stated that their was air conditoning.. The room was hotter than it was out doors so it was impossible to sleep at night. If you managed to fall asleep, you'd wake up in a pool of sweat every hour or so. I was able To request a second fan but even that didn't help.. The bed felt like a pull out sofa bed, it was way too soft and springy. When we arrived at breakfast, the table hadn't been cleared nor did it get cleared for the 10 minutes we were sitting there before we walked out.. There was cereal and bread rolls for breakfast. There were no bowls for us to put cereal in and when we asked for some, the lady said she'd bring us one but she never did.. We ate a bread roll each then decided to forget about breakfast and left. I understand that this was a three star hotel but for €125 euros a night, I most definitely expected a lot more for my money.

Review 30:The only thing that we didn't take in consideration is a number of steps that you have to walk up and down from the central road in order to reach the hotel. Of course, it was written in the Booking page and you have to walk to reach the paradise!!

Review 31:Everything was great in that hotel! The room was clean and very spacious! People are so kind and smile on you and that makes you feel comfortable! It is really a paradise!

Review 32:I liked everything.

Review 33:I liked everything. Great location, staff, facilities, breakfast. we were a group and we will return for sure at this hote. best choice. fgreat value for money.

Review 34:No wifi? maybe that's a plus :-)

Review 35:Lovely bed, big spacious room, terrace with table for two overlooking the garden, very friendly and helpful staff

Review 36:The place smell stuffy and the bathroom was not clean. It could be that we got use to a standard in the same category as Casa Caprile which was very clean. The staff can work on friendliness. The wifi is very poor and the breakfast was mostly finished when we arrived and no effort was made to top it up.

Review 37:Wifi works only in the breakfast hall

Review 38:Nice hotel, helpful staff, we booked a room without seaview, but we had it - such a pleasant surprise. Breakfast is a mix of traditional italian coffee&croissants and other sweets - few kinds of yogurt, muesli, milk, toasts with jam or honey. Breakfast is till 10.30, so we had a time to sleep longer. Hotel is located in quiet area, close to center and Piazza Caprile (it has a bus stop from Capri center and port Marina Grande).

Review 39:ONLY sweets for breakfast are not enough. Noisy ventilation in the bathroom.

Review 40:Very friendly and helpful staff! Thanks a lot to all of you! Very good quality of coffee and cappuccino. Flowers everywhere! Good location!

Review 41:Wifi available only in public areas.

Review 42:I believe we had a suite! Comfortable bed, beautiful design, a lot of balconies, quiet and very convenient location.

Review 43:Previously, breakfast was served in a lovely exterior building, virtually al fresco. Now it is served in a poky little room which is not ideal. Some of the staff pleasant, while others unhelpful but not rude (complaints about serious noise from unruly guests made by another customer were as good as ignored, while our request for an early morning taxi booking met a response that the hotel could only ring taxis and request a ten minutes notice reservation- this was a little pathetic). Small details of rooms need some attention/upkeep (broken lock on minibar, sea view balcony french window that wouldn't open, light bulb not working in lamp and not noticed or changed). Like many hotels these days, no iron/ironing board available and no coffee making facilities in room. I still like this hotel, but feel it has gone downhill since my first stay - the staff are clearly multitasking, which saves the owners money, but it just needs a little more attention to detail to improve it. The exterior breakfast room in particular needs to be reopened ASAP. There are numerous steps to the hotel, fine for fit adults, but not good for the elderly, infirm, disabled - this is clearly stated in many places online, but some people miss this and complain a lot. We coped with it fine and are in our 50s.

Review 44:Price of accomodation at Casa Caprile are, for Capri, excellent and affordable for those on less than stellar incomes. The hotel has an interesting past recent history (early 20th century) which is not marked in any way, which is a shame. Have stayed there before (2010) when under different ownership. Bus stop nearby, Anacapri has improved overall and the island is of course sublime.

Review 45:The location wouldn't suit everyone but once we found the hotel we were fine

Review 46:Our room(next to reception) had an amazing balcony with beautiful views over Anacapri and the sunset, the room was comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good

Review 47:Many, many stairs till the hotel, no aid or transport, difficult to carry suitcases. Unable to access for people with mobility disabilities, or older. No wi-fi in the room (reception is away), no daily cleaning, there's nothing to do around. Expensive for the quality.

Review 48:Large room overlooking the garden (not arranged yet), balcony, very quiet, the hotel had only a few guests.

Review 49:Depends of what someone prefer. The hotel is a bit hidden and far from the Marina/ Capri centre because its located in Anacapri which is +/- 20min with the bus And not always direct Little choices in breakfast

Review 50:We could upgrade our room with sea view which was very nice. Friendly representatives

Review 51:The location was very good and the hotel was easy to reach by bus from the ferry. Very nice spacious and clean rooms.Nice breakfast and very helpful staff.

Review 52:It is a mystery why this basic accommodation is described as a 3 star hotel Breakfast was sparse; the breakfast room was dim and cramped. Staff were variable in their willingness or ability to provide help of any sort. No coffee or tea is available outside the strictly limited breakfast hours. Access down the steps will be difficult for some. No help is offered. Wifi was feeble.

Review 53:The location and the building itself are delightful. The room and balcony were charming, even if the room had not been very sympathetically modernised to accommodate a bathroom. Casa Caprile provided very good value in a lovely location where most things are expensive. The accommodation was reasonably clean, and the room made up daily.

Review 54:There were so many flights of stairs to the property and they were filthy and very poorly light at night. We asked for a twin room and were given a room which was before the entrance. There were dirty, stained furnishings (settee, framed pictures and bedhead). We were not secure as we were not within the hotel. We could hear the suitcases thumping up and down the stairs at all hours. Our wall was next to the breakfast room and we could hear the expresso machine, dishes and chairs scraping from before 7am. The room was full of mosquitoes, no fly screens, no air con. We were given a mosquito coil. The TV didn't work. The second bed was not a proper twin but a camp bed. We avoided being at our accommodation. It was clear they do have better rooms but the one we were given was awful and of such low standard that they should not use it.

Review 55:Very nice man making breakfast. Friendly and great cappuccino.

Review 56:Breakfast is (traditionally?) only sweet and kind of simple. Also it takes a bit too long time to clean the tables from dishes. But it is understandable because he/she is alone.

Review 57:Great staff - friendly, with good english, helpful, informative and professional. Had a beautiful room with exceptional views. Very lovely garden! Quiet surroundings, good for resting.

Review 58:No pool. Ask the clerk to call Da Gelsomina hotel, which will send a van to whisk you to its lovely pool. The view is especially beautiful at sunset. Non-residents may swim for a small fee. Stay for dinner, which was delicious!

Review 59:In August, Capri was crowded and hot, so we were happy to be staying a 20-minute bus ride away in Anacapri. Hotel Casa Caprile is quiet and charming. The hotel is beautifully decorated with colorful tiles. Our room had a terrace with a nice view. The proprietor said gluten-free breakfasts can be provided, if the hotel has advance notice.

Review 60:Dust, hair everywhere, dead insects on the floor, mold everywhere, walls falling down due to humidity, unsanitary conditions, old furniture, old&dirty bathroom - stood only one out of 3 nights and due to the above conditions plus the bad behaviour of the hotel personnel - supperficial, unprofessional, paid EUR 0. They showed us 3 different rooms - except for the degree of mold invasion, conditions remained the same. Leave the romance behind, do not stay here!

Review 61:Location, view, clean bed coverings

Review 62:bed was terrible - there was two beds together on rollers - during the night they separate + onebedsheet for two beds -> after the night one person slips without sheet !!! very old & noisy ventilator not air-condicioner !!! we couldn't sleep : outside was very-very hot, inside very noisy with ventilator! very big price for this bad quality ! bad&small breakfast problems with connection to wifi!

Review 63:nothing!

Review 64:The walk to the hotel from the Main Piazza (Caprille) is rather long and smelly. On the last day we asked the man at reception if we could have someone help with bags and he said rather rudely no. He was also the one settling up breakfast which was really unorganized, there was no drinks left out and weather you wanted a glass of water, orange juice or coffee, we had to wait for him. The rest of breakfast seems prepacked and stale (Cereal and crossiants).

Review 65:Easily accessible to the bus and to get around the island. The lady at reception on the first day was extremely helpful and patient and recommended an amazing resturant for dinner. She even called and made the reservation for us. Room was clean and comfortable, although there are ALOT of mosquitos and I was bitten numerous times (not in the room but walking from reception to the room). If you have a repellant you should be fine. I would only not stay here again because of the guy at reception, the walk with your luggage from the street to hotel and the quality of their breakfast.

Review 66:The rooms were filled with mold, black mold had been painted over, white fuzzy mold grew in the walls and flaked off like styrofo. When I tried to sleep my heart started pounding to adjust to the toxicity and the smell was overwhelming, or they used to much cleaner.

Review 67:We stayed only one night and received a room with a very strong mold odor (which more people have written about in previous reviews). If we had stayed for more than one night it would have been unacceptable. The breakfast consisted of some jam and stale bread, so if you hope for anything fresh you might be dissapointed. I am sure there are other budget hotels on Capri where you get more value for your money.

Review 68:The hotel allows late check-in, which is nice if you spend your day on the other side of the island.

Review 69:Quite a few stairs to take from/to bus stop (or road), which is somewhat exhasting with pieces of luggage. Breakfast was limited (e.g. no water on the table) - but was definitely better than nothing.

Review 70:Spacious room. Terrace with nice garden view. Quiet location. Half a mile from Anacapri center.

Review 71:No Wi-Fi in the room. Not quite tasty breakfast.

Review 72:Good location, nice staff, everything what one could need was in the room. Wi-Fi was okay, but only in the lobby.

Review 73:No pool, but check out Lido Nettuno by the Grotto Azzurra, which has a beautiful seawater pool and great healthy lunches.

Review 74:We met the proprietress on our way down the steps -- a fascinating woman who made our stay a delight. The way to the hotel is winding with lots of steps, but this is Capri -- to have any fun, you really need to enjoy walking. The hotel is nested in the trees, serene and picturesque; our room was large with a terrace. We had a great breakfast in the garden, originally designed by Dr. Axel Munthe for Queen Victoria of Sweden. This is not a luxury hotel, but a wonderful surprise and excellent value for your money.

Review 75:No wifi in the room

Review 76:The emplacement and the service was good

Review 77:It is the most affordable you could get in Anacapri. Dont expect too much and you ll be fine!

Review 78:Too many steps.

Review 79:Quiet

Review 80:No sea view

Review 81:Calm and quiet hotel.

Review 82:Breakfast is poor

Review 83:Broken air conditioning , room was too hot at night

Review 84:Modest breakfast and no AC during heat wave

Review 85:Location and cost

Review 86:Staff not helpful at all

Review 87:An affordable place on the expensive island of Capri. Staff speaks english.

Review 88:No WiFi in the bedroom

Review 89:It is a nice quiet hotel with views of the garden and if you have a first floor room, a view of the sea

Review 90:Breakfast is basic but adequate

Review 91:Great location and handy for walking and getting the bus around the island and for visiting Blue Grotto

Review 92:Newly decorated hotel and clean rooms. The reception is quite helpful.

Review 93:Room, location, staff

Review 94:Çok büyük beklentiye girilmemeli.

Review 95:İyi fiyat, konfor yeteri düzeyde.

Review 96:Bad wifi signal.

Review 97:Very good hotel, with a charming ambient. Simple, but good breakfast. Excellent price. Anacapri is a great place to stay.

Review 98:CLEANLINESS..YOU COULDNOTICE SOME DIRTY IN THE FLOOR

Review 99:LOCATION, CHARMING, CHEAP, FANTASTIC BREAKFAST, CONFORTABLE BEDS, NICE ROOM AND TERRANCE

Review 100:The breakfast was a bit poor.

Review 101:The lovely old building and the quiet location.

Review 102:the only thing I would add would be internet connection in the room.

Review 103:Everything was excellent: location, staff, etc...

Review 104:poor breakfast, mosquitoes, old mattresses

Review 105:the location

Review 106:Old & tired. Needs serious improvement & refurbishment. Very basic & minimal Breakfast.

Review 107:Staff good

Review 108:Worst beds we have slept in in Europe, no wifi.

Review 109:Nice location and a quick walk to Anacapri town centre and close to the bus station in Caprile square.

Review 110:No WiFi in the rooms

Review 111:Very nice gardens and solarium, and lots of terraces in the hotel yard.

Review 112:No wifi in the room.

Review 113:It was comfortable and cozy.

Review 114:pricy for what it is, the place looks very nice outside but the rooms are just fair. staff a little rude, helpful but rude...

Review 115:location

Review 116:Many steps leading to the place

Review 117:Spacious room

Review 118:nice place. big room. the room is comfortable. the view is beautiful. provide breakfast.

Review 119:bathroom needs restoration wifi only close to reception

Review 120:location breakfast outside view

Review 121:The setting was spectacular. Some people may have difficulty navigating the steep path with stairs to the hotel, but we knew what we were in for and found the trek more than worth the effort. The staff was friendly and helpful in providing information on how to make the most of a short trip to Anacapri.

Review 122:It was falsely advertised as and I quote "a large terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea". It was a large terrace which was very nice, but the only view you had of the Mediterranean Sea was a small break in the trees. Unless the trees grew 6 feet in a few months (from the time we made our reservation until we arrived- then there would be a view without the trees), it was falsely advertised. It was disappointing because, the way the description was, we expected to have a full gorgeous view of the Mediterranean Sea and one could hardly see it. You basically had to know where that small break in the trees was. It is horrible to advertise a room that way when that particular view is really not there. There was however a beautiful view of the mountains, but that is not what we were expecting.

Review 123:The historic nature of this former royal residence. It was very quaint in a more residential section of Anacapri, although there were quite a few steps to reach the "Villa" it was worth it and manageable (if you are able to walk without a problem and have stamina-to carry the luggages....) . The Hotel itself was nicely maintained and the staff was helpful as well as friendly. The actual property leaves to be desired as the solarium was neglected, the steps unsteady and a lot of work needs to be done for this property to regain the charm of days past when it would have been at its best. Our room was clean and comfortable, then again we stayed in a suite. The breakfast was acceptable, but not great and the breakfast area was very small. Consequently some people had to wait to have breakfast until others departed. It was nice to have experienced staying there, but in the future we will stay elsewhere. It is close to a bus stop, but a bit further than other hotels to the shops/restaurant since it is in a residential area.

Review 124:Very good value for money, we had a big clean room with terrace where we could enjoy a bottle of wine with flowers around. Relaxing holiday, 15 minutes withy he bus to reach Capri, 20 minted the grand marina and the centre of anacapri by walk 5 minutes. Wish we could stay more, definitely would like to go back !!

Review 125:A number of steps leading down to the hotel - it was not very easy to go down and up with our heavy suitcases... But it was a challenge - we accepted it with a smile!

Review 126:Special thanks to the highly professional stuff - the people on the reception were very helpful and hospitable. Lots of thanks also to the person, who cleaned the room every day and to the person who served at breakfasts. Everything was fine, we really enjoyed our staying in this hotel.

Review 127:The bathroom door was not in a very good shape.

Review 128:The rooms are large and sunny. The hotel is placed very near by Ana Capri Center (bus station Caprile).

Review 129:not absolutely unhappy, but the hotel is a bit interior. Good for a couple or family but not so for a group of young friends who enjoy in a crowd rather than aloof.

Review 130:The staff and the receptionist Ms Gaia, was extremely polite and very informative. Also she knew english very well, some relief for non-italians travelling to Italy. So quiet and serene place. very safe. They donot have anyone at the reception between 11:30pm to 7am because its very safe.

Review 131:The hotel is not that difficult to find. There are obvious signs and it's not far from the bus station. The staff is very helpful and friendly, especially Rosa, who gave me useful directions and spoke good English. The breakfast is not bad, just at average of all other hotels I've visited in italy.

Review 132:The breakfast it is really poor and extremely sweet, you have only a croissant, butter, biscuits, yogurt and jam. That`s all, I recommend the cappuccino. The internet connection was really bad and it was available only in the breakfast room, this is a huge disadvantage because you can`t use it from your room.

Review 133:We had a really lovely room at the ground floor with a spectacular view and a large balcony, we loved it. The only disadvantage is the fact that the place is a little bit hidden and you have to descend and climb lots of stairs but in the end is it worth it

The Fine Print

The hotel is not recommended for wheelchair users as it can only be reached by stairs.
