Reviews for The Waters Country House
Review 1:Maria and Volvgang are amazing hosts. The Waters is lovely with character place, where we felt welcomed and easy relaxed. The breakfasts were so fantastic that 5 star hotel would be proud of. We will definitely back there and recommended it. Marta and Kevin
Review 2:Very nice owners & staff. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Will be back for certain. Bed was very comfortable and lovely hot showers!!
Review 3:Most unique and special guest house I have had the pleasure to stay in. Very friendly and kind hosts. Yummiest breakfast yet. Also the two lounge rooms are so very cozy. The decor is very unique, charming, and artistic in an old world kind of way. All in all, just a special place to stay, you have to experience it to know what I mean.
Review 4:I am a coeliac and i took some gluteen free food with me but they had a variety of g f products for me. location excellant - very quiet and peaceful and beautiful weather.
Review 5:The house is super beautiful and comfy, we enjoyed stitting by the fireplace a lot. The owner is very nice, breakfast was excellent and the highlight: fresh drinking-water from the spring :-)
Review 6:Polyester (not cotton) bedsheets
Review 7:Very welcoming place, picturesque old house built into the hillside on a well, with a spectacular view of the Burren. Wolfgang and Maria are very friendly and caring. It would be great if they would also do dinner. This is the kind of place where you really do not want to go back outside once you've settled near the fire after a long day outside.
Review 8:The Waters is in a great location and has a lovely quiet setting. We were made to feel very welcome by our hosts. The room was comfortable and we loved being able to sit by peat fires in the library each evening. The buffet and cooked dishes for breakfast were super too.
Review 9:Bare floors in bedroom - rugs would be better for comfort and & quietness. Bedroom doors - pull hard to shut/lock - makes a lot of noise and is disturbing when people come in late which they did during my stay.
Review 10:Host & Hostess were friendly, helpful & charming. Loved the log fires - and interesting house with its many books, pictures, ornaments from around the world... Lovely feel to the house, and breakfast was lovely. House feels like a unique retreat.
Review 11:Quirky place with loads of character, rural tranquility and no television. Our first room was a very small twin but we were moved to a very comfortable double for our last night. Our hosts were so friendly and charming and made us feel instantly at home.
Review 12:The owners are great! very helpful, we arrived later than expected and they were very kind waiting for us till late. Great breakfast and super conf bed.
Review 13:Not a b n B experience. Only there for a few hours but very good experience. Lovely warm atmosphere - great staff. No hesitation recommending this house.
Review 14:The nice fire in the evening. The availability of wine to have by the fire. The overall atmosphere was very comfortable. It was so great that we came back and stayed another night.
Review 15:Sound carried from every room and it was noisy at times. Lights were also dim for reading and makeup
Review 16:When it was quiet it was very quiet. The sitting rooms were nice.
Review 17:The owners were really lovely, friendly and helpful. The room had everything you need and was very comfortable. The room was at the back of the property facing the Burren with gorgeous views and very quiet. Breakfast was also amazing with a buffet and cooked breakfast. I would stay here again and recommend this B&B to everyone.
Review 18:Wolfgang and his wife were extremely welcoming and friendly. The place had charm and character. Loved it. 2 night stay wasn't long enough. We will be back!!
Review 19:Wolfgang and Maria are wonderful guests. I enjoyed very much my stay at the Waters and so did my son Matthias. We both are very much forward to going back for a longer visit. Thank you for your warm hospitality!
Review 20:Rooms dont seem very private
Review 21:Very nice boitique accomadation. If your looking for a relaxing stay this is it. Dont let the location put you off, taxis are cheap and extremely friendly.
Review 22:We loved our stay at The Waters. A very warm welcome from our host Wolfie, the peace and tranquility of this very special place made our stay so very enjoyable. Delishious breakfast, with the opportunity to have tea and coffee and homemade treats throughout the day as well as being able to lounge around in the cosy living room area was just lovely. We also enjoyed in our nightly night cap , glass of wine or two before turning in for the night. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this beautiful place !!
Review 23:I think we stayed during a particularly busy time. We had what is referred to as the Granny Flat. I am guessing this room isn't used all the time, as it's too small for two adults with luggage. Fine for light travellers or an extra room for children though...
Review 24:Very unusual guesthouse in that it has a running spring in the hallway which provides amazing drinking water. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is excellent. The common rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. Great location. Would be a great destination for a solo retreat.
Review 25:Rooms are small and quite dark This is an "industrial" B&B: a lot of rooms and minimal soud-proofing: we could hear our neighbors' conversations... Very remote location (narrow road) Though agreeable, hosts were not helpful: they refused access to their washing machine claiming that they were used "24/7" though machines were obviously available (we could see them open and unused). They made us go through their neighbor (a "professional" launderette owner) who ruined our clothes and charged us 13 euros for half a bag of laundry
Review 26:Nice atmosphere in the common area Very good breakfast
Review 27:Nothing to dislike, we definitely will be visiting again ☺
Review 28:Lovely quiet location, beautiful views, fabulous all round, host and hostess are really friendly, I highly recommend
Review 29:No WiFi in rooms and the bathrooms are a bit lacking.
Review 30:The owners are amazing, and really enjoy what they do. The great common areas allow you to get the true b&b feel. The option of a hot Irish breakfast was a nice plus.
Review 31:I can't recommend the Waters Country House more highly. The place is enchanting and the owners delightful. Both my two sisters, my daughter and I were all in agreement about the joy in staying there.
Review 32:The room was a bit small, bathroom especially. Located a bit down some small side roads, though it is well marked, and we managed to navigate it with no issues after dark.
Review 33:The house was nice if you spent much time in it. Breakfast was good, owner is very nice. The room was clean and satisfactory. Plenty of parking.
Review 34:Charming place to stay. We had two teen agers with us and they were fascinated by the indoor water fall. The rooms were charming as was the dining room and two warm and cozy sitting rooms. Breakfast was served beautifully with many choices and the hot food cooked perfectly. We wished that there had been a more inviting walking path to enjoy after breakfast. The owners were so welcoming and very interesting to chat with. It was the most unique spot we found in our nine days of travel.
Review 35:Breakfast - Hygiëne - Authentical and cozy common rooms - Multilingual (English, German, Spanish and Italian) - Maria and Wolfgang, our friendly and caring hosts...
Review 36:Wonderful, international atmosphere. Guests meet and talk. Phantastic place hidden from high-throughput tourism. Excellent breakfast. Very personal and friendly host. The Waters is kept in excellent shape, very well organised and to sit an evening with a glass or two, to talk or read makes the stay a unique experience.
Review 37:Nothing!
Review 38:The peace and quiet - no tv or radio in the bedroom! The lovely - interesting and friendly hosts - the marvellous breakfast. The sounds of the countryside coming through the bedroom window in the morning.
Review 39:I stayed with my son for one night as we traveled on our way to Galway. The home was beautiful and very, very relaxing. We had a wonderful stay. Hosts were so kind and accommodating.
Review 40:The family was warm and inviting. The house has a wonderful old world feel which was relaxing and interesting at the same time. Beautiful surroundings made for great evening walks. Breakfast was fantastic and prepared to perfection.
Review 41:One night was not enough to enjoy this lovely house. It is very well-decorated with a lot of items from everywhere. We feel so good and comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace with a glace of wine and the view of our room. It was a little bit hidded and very surprising. We will come back for sure to enjoy the wonderful landscape again.
Review 42:Some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, extremely helpful at finding things to do in the area and even offered to let us wash clothes when out airline lost our luggage. Quaint quiet rooms, great destination location in a sleepy town. Lots of Bavarian charm and unique features like a natural spring right inside the hotel - we used this multiple times a day and it was fantastic. This served as a great home base for all our Burren explorations and a lovely retreat when the day was done. Can't say enough nice things about the owners and their helpful suggestions, they vastly improved the experience of our day trips every time. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Review 43:Everything was amazing, from Wolfgang and Maria being the most welcoming and helpful hosts to the idyllic location, beautiful room with comfortable bed and best of all no tv in the room. 10/10, loved every minute and would definitely go back!
Review 44:There was nothing I didn't like about this place. Out of the four B&Bs that we stayed at, this was my favorite! Thanks Maria and Wolfgang!
Review 45:I loved the two common living spaces which each had a fire place. You only get Wifi in these spaces which facilitates people being together and talking with each other. The smaller room was so cozy to sit and read a book.
Review 46:Uphill gravel driveway a challenge for the motorbikes ;-)
Review 47:The owners were very friendly and could not do enough for us, Lovely place to stay over on our tour of Ireland. breakfast was one of the best on the trip and I think the owners undercharge for the stay. Thank you again.
Review 48:Nothing
Review 49:This hotel is situated on the hill top of the Burren Co. Claire. the view from the premises was breathtaking. Wolfgang the owner of the waters was very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who is staying in Claire.
Review 50:Our stay was memorable due the friendliness and accommodating hosts. The most comfortable bed and pillows that we have experienced in 2 weeks of travel in Ireland. Breakfast was of a very high quality. Would visit again.
Review 51:Having to leave.
Review 52:I loved everything. The grounds were beautifully and set a little ways from the main road. The room and bathroom were spotless and very roomy. The breakfast was unbeatable! I stayed many different places in Ireland, and the full Irish breakfast never compared to the one at The Waters Country House.
Review 53:Wifi is poor, driveway up to property needs a bit of work.
Review 54:Very good breakfast, inexpensive & comfortable, serene location near to Ballyvaughan. Exactly what we needed!
Review 55:One of us found the bed hard. The access road needs resurfacing.
Review 56:Character was appealing.the public areas were good and included open fires. The breakfast was particularly good.
Review 57:Wonderful hosts sharing their unique and beautiful country estate. Great location for hiking the scenic Burrens and visiting quaint coastal towns, the Aran Islands and Cliffs of Moher.
Review 58:Welcoming and homely public areas, helpful staff and felt very at home in relaxing, comfortable settings. Wonderful secluded location only a short walk from lovely village. Excellent advice re local services and taxis to get back up to Waters
Review 59:No wifi in the rooms, but was free in the public areas.
Review 60:The owners were friendly and helpful. The Setting was unique among all the places we stayed. Special place.
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:The Waters Country House is situated in a quiet lane on a hill outside Ballyvaughan. It is an oasis of calm wonderfully managed by the delightful owners Wolfgang and Maria. There are comfortable communal areas in which to relax and read and chat with fellow guests. The breakfast was terrific with a choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cold meats, cheese and a cooked breakfast for those who wish to have it. The warmth of the welcome and the unique comfortable interior style of decoration makes this a memorable place to stay for a wonderfully relaxing time.
Review 63:nothing... although some people may find it remote, it was perfect for exploring the Burren and getting away from all the hussle and touristy places.
Review 64:The owners were fabulous, the house was awesome and the food delicious! Loved the setting and the tranquility.
Review 65:While this place feels dark, it grows on you and after a while it feels warm and comfy. It is the most interesting building I have ever visited with an underground water fountain and a hidden chapel in a private garden. This place could be in a i. Wolfgang is very warm and the breakfast was fantastic. He also made me an easy over egg which he never made before. I loved the place. Thanks Wolfgang!!!!
Review 66:The mattresses were OK but the beds could do with some new pillows. Also the towels in the bathroom could do with replacing. Room was a little small but we were happy enough.
Review 67:Wolfgang and Maria were wonderful hosts and we felt right at home staying with them. The dining room and living areas are particularly lovely with beautiful open fires.
Review 68:Liked everything.
Review 69:We really enjoyed our stay, the B&B is on a beautiful location and the building itself has great character. We were welcomed by the host and he showed us around the place and in the evening were able to have a glass of wine in front of the fire. We would recommend this as a great place to stay.
Review 70:The wifi in the public areas was really strong, but the wifi was not available in the rooms. This wasn't a problem for my wife and I as we were ablet to get online in the public areas and do what we needed to.
Review 71:My wife and I really liked the property as it was very clean and the stone building gave it character. We also really liked that there was a natural spring flowing into the B&B where you grab your water for the night.
Review 72:We loved staying at 'The waters '. It was a wonderful place to stay with very warm hosts and unique surroundings and curiosities for the romantic and adventurous
Review 73:wasn't a thing I didn't like!
Review 74:This B&B was the most beautiful spot that we found in our 10 day travel. You could not ask for a better place to get away for a relaxing experience with lots of space to sit and chat, with yourselves or with others that are staying. A self serving (on the honor) bar was a pleasant surprise in between 2 magnificient sitting areas (large living rooms). Absolutely beautiful. thank you for sharing your space with us Canadians.
Review 75:The whole atmosphere is very very relaxing, and the owner and staff are delightful. The room was quirky, but comfortable. The breakfast... very good. We enjoyed the whole experience and felt very at home.
Review 76:No wifi in the bedrooms (but accessible in the bar or cosy library) though we didn't miss it at all ;-)
Review 77:The house has a wonderful atmosphere and the interior is well decorated. The breakfast is royal: fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereals, charcuterie and cooked items, everything you need to explore the lovely region during the day. Wolfgang and his coworkers are doing a great job to make you feel comfortable. A perfect place for a romantic escape or honeymoon!
Review 78:The staff were instant friends and made us feel very welcome. The meal was my favorite breakfast the whole trip-- it had a lot of yummy selections to choose from and the croissants were warm! The place itself was really unique and cool. Certainly a stand-out from the rest! Plus, there were more plugs and outlets than you could ever ask for! :)
Review 79:loved everything, Wolfgang the owner was great!!!
Review 80:The location is quiet and out of the way, but close to many things if you have a car. The hotel if made from old beams that came from a barn in Italy!!! Beautiful place Ireland and the people were warm and welcoming!!!
Review 81:Nothing really
Review 82:Loved the atmosphere and no TV in room as just wanted to relax. We felt welcomed. Also fridge available for milk for toddler and sink we could use to wash up. Very relaxing place.
Review 83:Quality of room Not walking distance to City Centre Drain did not work properly in shower Hard to open and lock room door. Would not have stayed if I had known this
Review 84:Staff
Review 85:It's a little off of the beaten path, which we appreciate - but they could use some better directions and signage.
Review 86:The hosts were very engaging and helpful. The food and rooms were very good and the house itself is very impressive. Great access point to check out the Burren and the Arran Islands -- not too far of a drive to go check out Galway either.
Review 87:That we only stayed one night!
Review 88:I loved the whole feel to the place. The idea of bar and help yourself is fantastic. Wonderful welcome. Wolfgang is doing exactly what he should be doing as his passion is felt! They did our laundry for us! After 10 days on the road that was needed so much and appreciated. Lovely spot! Thank you!
Review 89:Our friends found the twin beds not so comfortable; but despite this they enjoyed the whole experience.
Review 90:Everything ; we were made so welcome and we would liked to have stayed another night to enjoy the whole relaxed environment.
Review 91:A group of five friends stayed here for one night over the late August bank holiday. We had a fantastic time and would thoroughly recommend it. The breakfast was delicious and generous, the rooms were beautifully furnished and the owners were hospitable and very friendly. The location is great for touring County Clare and Galway; it was possibly the best B&B we'd ever stayed in!
Review 92:The beds - hard and narrow!
Review 93:Wonderful atmosphere; friendly and helpful hosts; green, peaceful and secluded location. Lavish breakfasts, all-day tea and coffee counter, inviting sitting rooms. Satisfactory wi-fi. Great walks.
Review 94:The location is pretty far off Coast Road but worth the drive.
Review 95:Architecture very well done designed building incorporating wells. Beautifully appointed. Owner host was wonderful.
Review 96:Liked most of it, only small issue would be room was near breakfast room and door let in noises from early

Review 98:The owners were very welcoming and made you feel very much at home. It is a beautiful place with a very cosy atmosphere - especially in the common rooms. Very good breakfast!
Review 99:That we didn't plan to stay longer!
Review 100:Wolfgang and his staff were exceptional. He has thought of everything and the facilities are roomy and modern while the style is old world and unique.
Review 101:My family and I would absolutely recommend the Waters Country House. The staff was great and went out of their way to accommodate us, including my daughter's dietary restrictions. A warm and welcoming place that is perfectly suited for our first days in Ireland.
Review 102:Owner and staff were so friendly and welcoming. A home away from home. Gave us plenty of information on what was on in the surrounding area. Would stay here again
Review 103:Stayed in the granny flat - was woken before 7am by cars outside - would have preferred to be in the main guest house
Review 104:Very homely, lovely breakfast, friendly atmosphere.
Review 105:Very friendly staff, public lounges for guests, very unique and quirky style. Open fire at night. Drinking Spring water feature in house. Breakfast was very nice, lots of variety to choose from. Cheese board, selection of fruit, cereals, yogurts, juices, plus a full irish breakfast with toast and tea/coffee. Will defiantly recommend this guesthouse. Five stars!!!
Review 106:The turfsmell that was burnt in the fireplace in the evening. Therefore we had to sit in our room which waas a bit chilly and musty. The bathroom needs refurnishing. Pity there weren't any evening meals.
Review 107:Our hosts were very helpfull, and our room was large. The springwater was very tasty as was the breakfast. nice sitting rooms.
Review 108:Loved the amazing well water. Huge bath tub! Beautiful place run by a lovely italian couple. Food is amazing! The water was good. We drank alot of it and took some with us. Your really going to love the water at this place. If you really like water, this place is for you!
Review 109:An oppertunity to have an evening meal would be the icing on the cake.
Review 110:The friehdly welcome from Wolfgang was delightful. The lovely gentle ambience he and Maria have created was so relaxing. The turf fire in the evening was lovely to sit in front of after a day's touring. We enjoyed the lovely breakfasts with the company of the other guests. Wolfgang and Maria have created an oasis of tranquillity, spirituality and peacefulness. We will definitely return. Wishing Wolfgang and Maria all the best for the future. Marina and Michael
Review 111:Our bedroom was very small and dark. centre light much too low my partner kept hitting his head off. 2 very narrow single beds. no tea making facilities of any description in room. Might recommend the house to other people but the bedroom we were given was very poor . i think there was much nicer bedrooms upstairs but they were already taken.
Review 112:Dining room &reading room reading
Review 113:While I think it is a positive as it is in the lovely Burren but you definitely need a car to visit.
Review 114:Lovely place in the middle of the countryside with loads of character. Friendly owners. Good breakfast.
