Reviews for Guesthouse Chrysa
Review 1:Cannot honestly find something negative to say
Review 2:Room recently renovated, stylish and spacious. Excellent home-made breakfast. Owner very friendly (forgot my ID and they mailed it the same day without even charging me). Excellent value for money, would definately stay there again.
Review 3:A very friendly and warm guesthouse! The owners really take care of the place. Very close to everything; a 1 min walk to the main pedestrian road with all the shops and restaurants. The breakfast is excellent and prepared fresh from local ingredients. An excellent value for money.
Review 4:The owner was super friendly. The breakfast was amazing. The room was cozy and clean. We loved it and definitely recommend it. We will probably come back next winter.
Review 5:We stayed a few days in September. The rooms were nice, warm and clean. The location was very convenient, less than 5 minutes walk form the town centre, but still in quiet neighbourhood. The lady owner was always so helpful giving us local advise and direction. We were most impressed with the breakfast, that included locally sourced produce, some of it even hand made by the lady owner!
Review 6:However, it was difficult finding the guesthouse when we arrived in town.
Review 7:This gusthouese eas very comfortable and it was exceptionally conveniently located - close to everything one needed.
Review 8:Bit of a leak in the bathroom but not the end of the world - just a pipe with a bit of a drip.
Review 9:Loved the location - easy for the railway and the village centre and the supermarket. Chrysa is fabulous, very welcoming, happy to share local knowledge and fruit and veg from her own garden :) Chrysa upgraded me as there was availability and that was VERY kind. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 10:The food at breakfast was simply sublime. A real experience that we enjoyed very much. The beds are comfy and we slept very well. We were welcomed as if we were family members. We will return!
Review 11:Very small bathroom, weird staff, very bad noise insulation, you could even hear someone whispering in other rooms! Also, it wasn't accepted if you want to pay by credit card although it is mentioned that this is one of the payment methods.
Review 12:Very convenient location, nice design, normal price, nice breakfast.
Review 13:Only complaint was the mattress was a bit too hard for us apart from that the room was perfectly adequate.
Review 14:The room was well equipped, very cosy, a large bed, very clean, central heating could be turned on at your leisure, lovely clean bathroom and plenty of hot water. Coffee and tea making facility plus fridge in the room.
Review 15:the owner was very good about telling us about places of interest in the town and district.Beside train station ..train trip through gorge was wonderful.
Review 16:Our stay at Guesthouse Chrysa has definitely become one highlight during our trip to Kalavryta and Vouraikos gorge (both worth visiting destinations). The room facilities were of many stars quality in all aspects (comfort and space, decoration, balconies with wonderful view of the mountain, central location, cleanliness, wi-fi, etc) and in an incomparable price. In the same time you can enjoy a cosiness and warmness which you cannot usually find in the best hotel rooms. It is the lovely hostess Mrs Chysa who runs this guesthouse and the way she treats her guests which makes all difference (.. and her delicious homemade jams!!). It is not that often one feels moved by such generous yet unassuming service they’ve been provided. Our staying there and the short meeting with Mrs Chrysa has been a pleasant reminder of how such details can be an important part of your unforgettable memories while travelling. Review 17:- The Holocaust Museum - very impressive - the train ride, although a bit expensive, a must do. There is one stop halfway. My advise is to get out of the train and have a good lunch.
Review 18:Nice town to visit. Very central location. Everything within walking distance
Review 19:Nice room
Review 20:Very well.
Review 21:nothing!!
Review 22:1 min away from train station 2 mins from the main shopping area and restaurants and with the best hotel owner you can possibly find!
Review 23:Our sat-nav couldn't find it !
Review 24:Fantastic home made breakfast; all the pastries, jams and bread were home made and delicious.
Review 25:Room space, comfort and cleanigless. Breakfast was absolutely perfect!!
Review 26:Lovely decor, superb breakfast, convenient location, great comfort. Would definitely recommend it
Review 27:nothing
Review 28:everything perfect: location, service, attitude, food
Review 29:Nothing, it was just what we could have wished for.
Review 30:Huge terrace facing the evening sun! Lovely warm welcome. Stylish room with modern bathroom and a shower curtain that didn't cling! The train ride is fantastic and I would recommend the very moving museum.
Review 31:The bathroom was a little cramped, and we would have liked tea and coffee making facilities, but there was really nothing of significance with which we were unhappy.
Review 32:The very welcoming proprietor contributed much to our stay. The location was extremely convenient being very close to the station - and we appreciated having a balcony on which we could enjoy a drink. Breakfasts were excellent.
Review 33:Nothing in particular except small bathroom on the upper floor of renovated rooms. No ski storage.
Review 34:Great location 50m from train and 100m from village center close to restaurants cafes and shops. Traditional home made breakfast with big variety from sweet Mrs Chrysa. Nice clean decorated and renovated rooms including TV and DVD player with some movies. Strong WIFI everywhere. Private balconies with view of the mount Helmos. Lots of toiletries.
Review 35:Chryssa's welcome was incredibly warm and genuine. Her guesthouse is perfectly situated, quiet but within easy reach of the station for catching the wonderful little rack-and-pinion train, and for the tavernas and shops of the town centre. The accommodation is of a very high standard, spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained. Almost everything for the wonderful buffet breakfast was home-made, often with home-grown products from Chryssa's orchard. We adored Kalavrita and recommend anyone who reads the Rough Guide to ignore what is written there. The people are friendly, the place beautiful.
Review 36:Chrysa is very nice, her rooms are nicely and warmly furnished. She said we were her first guests from Czech. She made us delicious breakfast, we tasted homemade marmelade from lemon and from special rose. Very yummy :). Thank you Chrysa, it was great. The place is gorgeous, we took the mountain train to Diakopto and enjoyed the beach there.
Review 37:Excellent bathroom (so rare in Greece!), quiet location and views of the famous Diakofto railway, and the mountains all round. Don't be put off by the house/chalet style exterior of the guesthouse, I have stayed in many hotels in Kalavrita and this has been the best room quality by far. Walking distance to the town square, easy parking.
Review 38:Chrysa was so helpful, warm and friendly. Her breakfasts were absolutely delicious! So much homemade food and so good. Small, but lovely outside garden. She even made some special rose jam for us and then presented us with a small jar of it as a parting gift. We were so touched by that that we went in to town to a nursery and bought her a small rose bush to add to her garden. As others have said, her English isn't fantastic, but it is more than adequate and much, much better than our Greek. We would stay again at Monastiri Guest House AND we can't say enough good things about the town of Kalavryta, the train ride and our walk along the train tracks.
Review 39:Very nice and clean, next to the city centre.Really enjoyed breakfast, with home made delicacies. Owners make an extra effort with locally sourced ingredients
Review 40:Stayed there for one night. The place is awesome, clean and the lady who owns the guesthouse is very friendly and welcoming. I loved the breakfast especially the home-made cheese pie and the orange marmalade! Will try and replicate the recipes. Will definitely return in winter for the season.
Review 41:Beds and pillows were awful, too hard both of them. I stayed there for two nights but I could hardly sleep. The fried eggs at breakfast were freezing cold, probably prepared the day before and kept in the fridge overnight. My room was basically a dump, dirty carpets as well as bed covers.
