Review 3：Only thing I had a slight annoyance with is that I asked to have a room on the top floor with a good view. This should have been a top floor room looking out the front of the hotel. We were given a room on the middle floor facing the side, looking at nothing basically and when we were there the hotel wasn't that busy so I'm sure our request could have been adhered to.

Review 4：Location was amazing really good views down onto the marina bay. I can't stress enough the views are the best I've seen in my life. The restaurant is also amazing. I had the steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection.

Review 7：The room, which we have booked, should be with the view, instead we had the view on the wall and the personal of the hotel even didn't apologized for it. They told that the view on the wall is also view... So just for info: the standard rooms don't have any view, because they are on the basic floor... The furniture was very old in the room, there weren't even the curtains... So surely it's not the level of the 4 star's hotel.

Review 9：The room was so noisy. The walls were paper thin. I could hear everyone crashing around and the even the man next door snoring at night. Loud pool parties at night too. The decor is out dated. Breakfast is awful. You have to pay for your own towels and sun beds - which break while you are on them! Not recommended. Only up point was its cleanliness. Not value for money.

Review 14：The second stay found us in an uncomfortably small room with some plumbing difficulties. The toilet cistern overflowed at one stage with water going into the room. Fortunately the problem was dealt with fairly quickly. The cold tap in the hand basin did not provide any water or rather a trickle. The light switch in the bathroom was located in a difficult place and no where near the door which could be most hazzardous for elderly people in the dark. It is most dangerous.

Review 15：Our first stay on the trip we were given an excellent room with balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The room was large enough for two people. The breakfast was top class. Lovely staff overall.

Review 18：While efficient, the staff was not overly welcoming & were not attentive to our needs - we always had to ask & then wait, wait, wait. There were several guests that were treated warmly & attentively - it was obvious they were regulars. The hotel & facilities are beautiful. So much so, we may return despite the lack of warmth from the staff.

Gloomy lady and guy met us at the reception and could not find our resevation (maybe because of misunderstanding with the reservation staff). They asked us to give proof of it. Review 24：Wiki is poor as in mostly non-existent. Rooms are very small for a 4 star hotel. Compared to other places we've stayed in Amalfi they are too expensive for what they offered, even if this was Capri. The bathroom is very small and the furniture is rather old.

Also the receptionist mixed up my husbands passport with my daughter's despite the fact she arrived at a different time and was staying in a different room . Review 30：The hotel staff weren't as friendly as I had experienced elsewhere. I emailed the hotel to see if they had a hotel shuttle from the port to hotel I could use, but got no response so I got a taxi when I arrived. I was able to use the service when I was leaving the hotel though. The hotel is on the road and just on a corner, so expect to hear lots of beeps and horns as drivers warn each other of their presence. You get used to it!

Review 31：I loved the location and the views, breath taking! The hotel is in Anacapri, higher up on the island of Capri and located a 3 minute walk from the Anacapri town centre. From there, its easy to get to the chair lift, bus station, Grotto Azura and there is an endless row of little streets leading to charming piazzas with incredible food, shops and views of the island. The hotel chef delivers incredible food, and it is competitively priced with what's available in the town. The pool is fantastic; 25m 4 lane pool that is a wonderful sun trap. There is a lady who delivers massages and the pool cafe is great. I treated myself to a more luxury room, and it was downstairs and huge. I particularly appreciated the black out blinds! The breakfast was varied and the hotel itself was pure history. I loved it and would recommend staying here. The hotel shuttle down to the port when I was leaving was helpful. Its easy to get a bus from the port to the hotel, or vice versa and to anywhere on the Island. A taxi ride from the port to the hotel is approx 25EUR. This hotel is beautiful and I would consider staying again if I came back to Capri.

Review 38：One of the staff members was extremely rude and made us feel like we weren't welcome. He picked us up after a day excursion and literally yelled at us in the process. We explained we were not using the shuttle system when checking out and had made arraignments with the staff at night for the pick-up and she explained this wouldn't be a problem(she was very nice!)

Review 63：While the concierge made some nice recommendations, the hotel as a whole did not live up to its four star rating. Due to the flimsy doors and walls, the noise from outside the room woke us up several times throughout the night (at least 6-7 times). We heard doors opening and closing, the noise from the engine of the elevator operating at all hours, people walking and talking in the halls, toilets flushing, etc. It was a highly unpleasant stay, and due to the interrupted sleep, we awoke feeling exhausted and ill-prepared for exploring the island. Absolutely not worth a night's stay.

Review 64：Bed was a little hard for me. No hooks in bathroom for towel/clothes, and no shelf for your bits and bobs. Room small but the terrace made up for this. A few area could do with a lick of paint, but I saw a man painting so looks like that's in the process of being done.

Review 65：5 mins away from Anacapri, bus stop near by to take you into Capri, or 30 min walk, but the roads are narrow with no pavement. The view is spectacular looking across to Napoli. Breakfast is good and plentiful. Pool was nice and the garden is pretty.

Review 66：The breakfast was awful, having been travelling in Italy for 4 weeks, it was not up to any kind of standard. Tablecloth dirty, not welcomed in the dining area, chipped cups and dirty glassware...food was unacceptable.

Review 70：Extremely rundown hotel, with complete parts of the building abandoned, and even though we got a renovated room, there was a terrible musty smell in it and the A/C was too noisy to be able to sleep next to it - all this for 175€/night! The transfer from/to the port was allegedly free, but on our departure, the hotel did not dispose of their car so we had to pay for a cab (which they told us 5 mins before). The restaurant must be untouched since the 70s and the prices are not indicated on the menu. The hotel undoubtedly used to be one of the most elegant one on the island, but that must have been a 100 years ago.

Review 72：Although they pretend to offer the transfer from the port they dont. We travelled by bus but it was not a pleasant experience. In our guidebook there was written that the island is free of cars - its a mockery! Cars and busses are on every corner, nobody goes on its own.

Review 76：The interior of the room was shocking for a 4 start hotel. The bathroom were extremely outdate. The beds very uncomfortable. The sheets and blankets not very hygienic and unattractive. The furniture outdates from a 70's look. Overall very disappointed as it is a beautiful building that needs an update from the 70's to the decade.

It felt as though they wanted you to stay on their property and so wouldn't tell you about any restaurants nearby, etc.

Review 83：The location was perfect. The hotel has a great view of the island and the Bay of Naples, and is an easy walk to Anacapri town, or to transit for other locations around the isle. It was a comfortable place to spend the night and set a home base.

Review 90：The staff. The man who let us check in early was fine, but everyone else ignored us - even good morning at breakfast seemed too much. Staff were far more interested in laying table for lunch/dinner than creating any sort of friendly atmosphere at breakfast, which runs until 10.30am. We went down at 9.45 on the last day and got some dirty looks as they banged about on the tables around us - we were glad not to be the couple who dared to sit at a table set for lunch! Bathroom really dated, shower floods floor. The hotel also has a ridiculous policy of charging guests 6 euros for a sun lounger and parasol at the pool. There are deck chairs, which we used one afternoon, but surely if you've spent a good chunk of money to stay, such things should be included!

Review 98：So many deficiances like : the door to the terrace opened only half such as the door to the bathroom. Water in the shower flew over, water in the toilet did not stop running, the room was so small that when one wanted to get dressed the other one had to leave(we thought!) dining room terrible: outside the tables were not prepared and you were not allowed to sit there for breakfast or for dinner, everything in the room was in a condition that highly needed refurbishing. Thus the price was too high compared to what the standard was.

Review 103：The view was amazing, the pool was very clean and kept ordered, house cleaning was thorough and efficient, the breakfast was excellent especially the flat whites made by Kataldo the handsome barista, always a good selection of foods, the shuttle ran very regularly and the bus route was outside the hotel or just a short walk to the centre of Ana Capri. The hotel was central to the whole island, with fabulous walks to the summit, the light houses, castles and Grotto Azzurra. The room was spacious and the balcony was the best.

Review 106：Our experience at the Hotel San Michele ruined our time in Capri. To start with, our room was no-where near 4* standard. The decor is anythin but "elegant and modern," with dated and stained furniture. The area around the shower was covered in black mould and a squashed dead fly was left on our wall for the duration of our 3 day stay. We could not believe the condition of the room for the price we were paying and complained. The member of staff did not apologise once for the state of the hotel, but sent someone to fix our lightbulb in the bathroom. We were told he would be there in 5 minutes, however one hour later there was no sign of him. Their solution for the black mould was to PAINT over it. Our room now smelt of paint for the next few days! A full ashtray was also left outside on our balcony. Breakfast was limited and the tablecloths were stained. We were given kitchen towel for serviettes - not what you expect in a 4* hotel! At the end of our stay we asked for a reciept. The member of staff (who we assume was the manager) insisted that we had been given one and that we in the wrong. We then had to wait an hour to get a replacement. To finish off we then use the free shuttle service, but to our surprise we used an employees car, which had no seat belts and he was using his mobile phone whilst driving. We both felt this was highly dangerous and unprofessional of him.

Review 107：The only good thing about this hotel was the spectacular view. Whilst the shuttle service was adequate, it needed to be run more regularly.

Review 110：We had booked the hotel through booking.com, and confirmed it. When we arrived we were told that 'unfortunately they did not have a room, since some other guests departure dates had been mixed up'. We were put in a neighbouring 3 star hotel, where aircon was extra charged, and the "seaview" was out towards a scruffy backyard, although the sea could be seen in the distance. We were offered a dinner, and to use their pool, but San Michele charged us the full price of their room despite putting us in the other. Overall very bad experience.

Review 111：Wifi did not work from our room, especially on the balcony. The rooms are very old, and tiny. Our a/c only worked on the last day. The bathroom is so small you can't open the door properly. The bathroom only had a shower (sea view room) our friends booked a cheaper garden view room and their room was bigger and a bath in the bathroom. The clientele is elderly so not good for ambience and not a good vibe. Pool is accessible for guests however the pool charge guests for towels and sun beds. So you have to use your own towels and lie on the grass. When paying over 200 euros for a room you expect this included. The breakfast was mediocre and eggs were cold and bacon looked like it had been sitting there for ages. Beds were hard with a plastic protector over blanket. Pillows were very cheap (Dacron filled) and not at all luxurious. Definitely not 4 star, I would give it a two star based only on views. Pictures on internet are not realistic at all. Bed spreads are probably close to 30 years old!!

Review 117：We took a classic double room, which had a higher price than the standard and comfort rooms, and yet we found the size of the room and bathroom was small. Also, there were many insects in the room (many spiders, ants, mosquitoes) and snails, which was too bad even for a two star hotel. There were no hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes and even towels. Other negative sides were the lack of soap holder in the sink and shower, lack of trashbin in the room, the hand towels were too thin and did not look like towels, the lack of complimentary toothbrush, toothpaste, tissues etc. The shower gel needed to be requested at some point. The price of the food in the bars was too high and higher than the price shown in the menu.

Review 119：Everything else. It's a "classy" hotel with hard uncomfortable beds, shower that doesn't drain well, HORRENDOUS wifi, unfriendly reception staff - unless you are Italian. Too many locals using the pool. Breakfast was not appetizing, fruit choice was bad. Lunch and dinner are overpriced, you can get better stuff if you make a left when you walk out and walk up to the Piazza. One night we stayed out late and came back hungry but just wanted a sandwich, the guy at reception sends us to the bar saying we can get one there. At the bar they then tell us the kitchen has already closed... Thanks for the wild goose chase. I do not recommend this place and even if they offered me a free stay, I would not return!

Review 120：I actually loved the location. It wasn't a super busy touristy area and in the middle of my two favorite spots: Capri and Faro beach - both just a short bus ride away (€1,80). I also won't deny that the view is great and the pool is very large.

Review 121：This hotels is absolutely amazing! The views are spectacular and we loved our beautiful room with antiques and sweeping views overlooking Capri. Here you will find open air rooms, antiques and perfection for quality. Our trip was richly enhanced with Hotel San Michele! You will love the atmosphere and breakfast is delicious.
