Reviews for Il Giardino dell'Arte

Review 1:The BnB is located in a marvellous place with a great view over the sea. It is clean and very well decorated with a plentiful breakfast. Our host was just amazing. He is very kind and friendly and provides a car service from the port to the BnB. I was delighted to stay there and I strongly recommend it.

Review 2:We missed that we should call you in the harbour to be picked up! Please write in BLOCKLETTERS about IT!

Review 3:Your kindness and that you drove us to the harbour!

Review 4:Our only -and minor!- complaint would be the fact that the water temperature was not hot enough for our taste in the bathroom (shower or tap). And the shower/tub configuration was a little odd. It was hot but took a while to get there and then only minimally so. The water temp in our boys' bathroom was fine.

Review 5:We loved the host, Franco, the setting (beautiful gardens and terraces in lovely, quiet Anacapri), the bountiful and sustaining breakfasts (hb eggs, tomatoes, breads and pastries, yogurt and fruit, coffee, tea, juice, cocoa...)- important when you're an active family with young children;)

Review 6:No bad experiences!

Review 7:Franco!! He was the most helpful of all the hosts for our two week stay in Italy. The location was excellent and Franco picked us up at the ferry and gave us excellent tips for what to do on the island. He treated us like family.

Review 8:The service is excellent. The owner of the hotel is a very interesting and nice gentleman. The hotel has a very very beautiful garden. You could imagine that waking in a garden full of beautiful flowers and sweet fresh fruits is a wonderful thing. Place is located in Anna Capri but not the capri city center. Do not make mistakes like us. It takes us a lot of time and strength in climbing up the Phoenician ladder. It is better to take a local bus to get there. It is near the Anna Capri center where located many nice and interesting shops you will never meet in other Italy cities. We also enjoyed the beautiful sunset in the garden. Very nice experience. Next time when I am back to Capri island I will definitaly choose the hotel again.

Review 9:The stunning views from the wonderful gardens across the bay to Ischia and the delightfully warm welcome from Franco and his family. Only a short walk up to the town for evening dining

Review 10:Wifi is a bit weak inside the room

Review 11:We had a room with a small front door garden n seaview; we could enjoy the breakfast in the morning in the garden. The host was very nice, provided us with all tips to travel around the island.

Review 12:- Everything! From the meticulously designed garden, to the small details of the rooms. - Breakfast: This is one of the best things that this guest house provides. - The owner is a polyglot that can be of help in many languages and provided us with transportation to the port, and many other tips to get around Capri and see the most of it in the few days we had.

Review 13:Not directly Anacapri, maybe 10 minutes to walk. Wifi didn't work in our room. Host a little chaotic.

Review 14:Nice host. Pick up and lift to the ferries. Nice place, wonderful breakfast.

Review 15:A little pricey.

Review 16:Franco the owner is wonderful, so helpful and interesting. He highly recommended that we arrive back at the hotel by 20:00 to have some wine and view the sunset. It was amazing! The view from the common terrace is spectacular and the room is very comfortable. Franco's recommended activities were great and he also provided us with rides to and from the Capri docks. Easily accessible by bus and a nice walk from there to the guesthouse. We highly recommend Il Giardino dell'Arte! You won't be sorry!

Review 17:Owner Franco is a wonderful man that made our time in his B&Bmemorable. Franco recommend we do not miss the sunset from our terraceand we were glad we took his suggestion. What an incredible beautifulview we had from our terrace. The bright orange sun setting over theisland of Ischia was a wonderful to start our evening. The grounds are maticulous and add a beautiful backdrop to the outstanding view. One of the biggest highlights for us was the amazing full breakfast each morning. Franco's daughter is kind and extremely helpful! Lastly, the location was perfect for us. A short bus ride to amazing beaches including Grotta Azzura. A short walk to the main piazza and chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro (not to be missed). Thank you again Franco and family!

Review 18:If I had not been picked up, I would not have found it. I also didn't go out at night, in the dark, for fear I would get lost on the way back. The distance from Anacapri center on foot was 15 minutes, but buses run frequently. Make sure you bring insect repellent.

Review 19:The family who run this place are very nice and accommodating. For example, they pick you up and drop you off at the port. The room was spotlessly clean. It's close to the Blue Grotto. Breakfast included fresh fruit from the garden. If you wanted a place away from the masses, this would be it. The place, particularly at breakfast and sunset, is conducive to meeting the other guests.

Review 20:nothing specifically.

Review 21:I like staffs there. They helped us very much to see the island and enjoy our stay. A good hospitality. Breakfast was excellent. I will be back again to relax.

Review 22:The place is a little interior of the city which makes it a little difficult to reach on your own but the owner Franco is very kind and provides a cab kind of a service. This is no negative remark to the guest house its just something about the city.

Review 23:The nature of the staff and the property on a whole is very nice

Review 24:Mattress was too hard for us.

Review 25:We were treated like family and given lovely fresh tomatoes and fruit for breakfast, together with other yummy treats. Franco was very hospitable with transfers to and from port, and gave us excellent local knowledge for restaurants and activities.

Review 26:This is a wonderful guest house with fantastic facilities, rooms, breakfast, customer service, location and stunning gardens, terraces and views! Really great value for money.

Review 27:No drawbacks.

Review 28:Gardens everywhere, a breathtaking view (including sunset!) and a private patio. The room was large and the bathroom was huge. The entrance to the apartment was private. Paradise. Hope to return.

Review 29:I got bitten by mosquitoes during our first night, and realised it might have been because the door had no screen to prevent them from entering the room. This was a very small negative compared to all the positives!

Review 30:Franco, the owner was so helpful, and made us feel very welcome. nothing was too much trouble. Each room has it's own entrance and small outside area with seating. The garden with it's different terraces and levels made it easy to relax and enjoy the view over the sea. Breakfast served on the main terrace was delightful, with plenty of time in which to enjoy it. Franco gave us complimentary wine and biscuits on our first night, which we thought was a nice touch. The free shuttle service to and from the port was wonderful, as the taxi could cost as much as 40 Euros.

Review 31:Kindness & experiences of host. He treats anyone come to the Hotel as a friend, not a guess. He showed me all beautiful sighseeing should see and all moments which I should take. Cozy room & beautiful garden

Review 32:The location was a great base to explore the island. A short walk to the town for evening supper after seeing the fantastic sunset from the garden. Local buses to take you to the main town and 750 steps down to the marina (bus back!). Fabulous breakfast outside on our own patio and and a friendly, welcoming host.

Review 33:The owner should accept that his guests may want to have dinner inplaces other than the one he is over-selling .... and he should avoidcriticizing their choice behind their backs with third party (especiallywhen you hear it and he does not see you !!!!).

Review 34:The location and the magnificent environment

Review 35:If you want to be in the middle of it this is probably not your place . But for some that is a plus

Review 36:Pick up and drop off at ferry terminal Lovely spot , great for sunset very helpful owner good breakfast Away from the madness of Capri town wifi excelllent 10 min walk to Anacapri town and local bus connections to Capri town

Review 37:Nothing to not like

Review 38:This is a beautiful place to stay, so peaceful, with an amazing view of the sea from the delightful garden. The best breakfast I have ever had and enjoying it on the terrace was a delight to get up for every morning. You are made so welcome, thank you Franco and everyone, it's the small touches that are so important.

Review 39:Had a tiny room initially which was dull and had loads of Mosquitos and daddy long legs as the door had been left open. Moved to a much nicer room the next day. Other reviews state how Franco went out of his way to be helpful, didn't really see this, maybe as hadn't paid for the most expensive room....

Review 40:Lovely breakfast out on the terrace with pretty views of the gardens and naples bay. Friendly staff and nice being picked up from the port.

Review 41:Very friendly staff welcoming you with a drink The garden is superb; very comfortable rooms with all the facilities you need Breakfast was generous and fresh Free transportation to the harbor Congratulations to Franco and his family!

Review 44:The owner is so kind and helpful. The small garden is beautiful. The breakfast is so nice compare with other small hotel. It takes 8min from a bus station. We could see a sunset at a garden, it was so fantastic. My sons like a this hotel.

Review 45:We loved the several terraces with a view of the Mediterranian - Franco (?) was an excellent host, always ready to help with any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend this place to others

Review 46:room facility is mediocre but the overall cost to performance ratio is good.

Review 47:nice host, rich breakfast, round trip door to port pick-up service is included, Victory Plaza is within walking distance.

Review 48:Franco will try to send you to a restaurant for dinner with other guests, a car will pick you up and drop you off. Do not go to that restaurant, it was not good.

Review 49:Franco was a pro at what he does, welcoming and helpful. A beautiful and well maintained property.

Review 50:We only had time for one night at this home that is so loved and cared for by generations of Franco's family!

Review 51:A beautiful place to stay! Franco was the best host ever. He picked us up at the port and delivered our luggage to the port when we were ready to leave. He made reservations for our boat trip and dinner. Breakfast was wonderful. Within walking distance to shopping and lift.

Review 52:Charming apartment all equipped, breathtaking views from the terrace where breakfast is served. Franco, the host speaks very good English and takes good care of the guests.

Review 53:Wifi was good from the terrace area and in the rooms close to the office, but sketchy further out. But not really a problem.

Review 54:A beautiful setting and a grand view of the Bay of Naples while having breakfast outside on the terrace. Franco will pick you up at your entry point and also take you back to the ferry at the end of the stay. He decided that our room was too small for us, so he upgraded us to a suite (and no extra charge). A fantastic stay.

Review 55:Has the room next to the service room and was waken up by staff loud talking at 8 am and they went on talking and talking... Capri attractions too "tourist traps" and buses far too expensive for a small island (but of course not the fault of the hotel)

Review 56:Very good breakfast served on the terrace with fresh fruits etc Nice deco Can walk to Anacapri attractions Nice helpful staff

Review 57:The gentlemen who owns this place makes it! He picks fruit on site for breakfast, he picks you up at the port and drives you to the place. It is a bit out of the way, but the bus system is so easy to navigate and get around! We traveled here for our honeymoon, I wish we could have stayed more than three days. The restaurant he recommended was AMAZING! Wouldn't even think twice about staying anywhere else in Capri

Review 58:There wasn't anything I didn't like about this property.

Review 59:This is a lovely B&B run by Franco and his family. It is situated in Anacapri, which is the top of Capri. It is a short stroll to the Centre of Anacapri where there are some great restaurants and the bus to Capri. It is more peaceful than Capri Centre. It is even walking distance to the Blue Grotto. Breakfast is included and is very generous. It is on the terrace with the most beautiful views and generally a great place to chat to others staying there. It only has about 5 rooms, which are big and extremely clean. Franco is so helpful with tips on where to visit and he will also pick you from the harbour and take you back when you leave.

Review 60:Wifi did not work in our room but it worked well in the common areas. Not a big deal really.

Review 61:Franco And History family were superb hosts! He drove us to and from marina. We felt at home!

Review 62:We spend 5 days in Anacapri in june, for a relaxing and romantic trip. We just had a perfect stay at Franco's hotel. First of all, he came at the port for an pick-up with his typical Capri's car which was very appreciate because the hotel is not so easy to find thru the village. We were in a charming room, confortable bed and perfectly clean. The breakfast was just delicous with fresh fruits, eggs and italian pastries with the view on Ischia! Franco gaves us such precious advices, and special places to discover Capri and Anacapri on secrets paths... It was an unforgetable stay... Franco seems used to treat his guests the 5 stars way...! Highly and warmly recommanded!

Review 63:I can’t see where Il Giardino merits it's ratings. It’s definitely only a B&B but with hotel prices. The garden although large is actually a bit scruffy and the abandoned swimming pool is not a pretty sight. Also be aware that it’s at least a 20 minute steep walk from the town centre, so if you are not into walking it could be difficult to get around and all the restaurants are in town. Also Franco’s promised lifts don’t always eventuate as he obviously can’t always accommodate everyone. The breakfast that others rave about I found quite average, no fresh juice, no cheese, cold hard boiled eggs and….. unforgivable in Italy….. instant coffee disguised as the real thing. Yes you are met at the Marina by Franco, I don’t see how you would ever find the place otherwise, he is an ageing Lothario who’s friendly fondling you might find amusing but it has to be nipped swiftly in the bud if you don’t want to cope with a full on grope, but if that’s your thing you’ll love him. Take his advice with a pinch of salt as there’s the usual dose of self interest behind it, his restuarant recommendation is for a place far out into the country. Don’t let him talk you into going back into the marina to get the expensive boat trip to the Grotto Azzura, the bus is close by and drops you at the top of the few little steps down to where you just get the inexpensive row boats into the cave… no queue and a good spot to have a ( real) coffee or drink and watch the manic tourist hoards below waiting their turn for a row boat.

Review 64:The view from the garden and terrace was beautiful. It was nice to be met by Franco at the Marina and taken to the place. The rooms are OK and while each one has it’s own outside sitting area, some are much bigger and better than others. The little square in Anacapri has a lovely ambiance and several good restaurants and is a haven of peace compared with the very overrated downtown Capri itself. Anacapri is lovely and there are lots of interesting looking hotels in town.

Review 65:We booked a triple room with one double and one single bed, but we were only offered a room with two very narrow single beds. The owner got quite upset when we mentioned that we were expecting a bigger bed. The wifi was working only next to the reception but not inside the room.

Review 66:The peaceful location. The owner picked us up from the harbor, and dropped us off.

Review 67:The only down side is this hotel/guesthouse does not have a pool. Having a pool would make all the difference especially as he price is quite hefty.

Review 68:Owner was very helpful quite happy to pick us up from almost anywhere on the island. He was able to recommend a restaurant and even the restaurant picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back at no fee. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was good being served on the terrace looking out onto a beautiful view. All in all a lovely lo a too with a lovely atmosphere.

Review 69:The staff is great, very welcoming and with great advice. Location is perfect: amazing view, peaceful restful environment (out of the crowded and full of tourists places, you can easily go to grotta azul to swim or to visit the grotta at a time when boats are not here etc...) The hotel is so cute with a beautiful garden, very charming

Review 70:Location. Lack of transport

Review 71:Interior design

Review 72:The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful!

Review 73:Great place Amazing view! Nice breakfast The family how own the guest house was hospitable and very nice to us.

Review 74:Fantastic breakfast with beautiful view. The owner Framco picked us up when arriving at Capri and took our luggage to meat us when we where leaving.

Review 75:None, they went out of their way to make me comfortable

Review 76:Beautiful, cozy, well maintained by Franco and daughters. Just lovely.

Review 77:Mosquitos

Review 78:The personalised breakfast, the room, Franco the owner who is very helpful

Review 79:Lovely room, great breakfast, very helpful owner and staff

Review 80:WiFi was a little bit up and down

Review 81:Wonderful location with great views and a beautiful garden. Very nice breakfast and a friendly and helpful host

Review 82:location has a lot of charm but can be a bit of a walk from town center if you have small kids.

Review 83:Very nice host family. View to the ocean.

Review 84:Kind and helpful owner, nice room, beautiful garden, very good breakfast

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:Sea View / terrace/ room interior /kind staff/ good breakfast

Review 87:Everything.

Review 88:Because the property is small, you need to watch your noise level to not disturb other guests.

Review 89:This is a beautiful, little guest house. The gardens are filled with flowers and buzzing bees. From the terrace we had an amazing sea view, with the mainland in the distance. Franco is a charming host and can help you with whatever you need.

Review 90:Nothing really the stay was very very good.

Review 91:We had a lovely stay here did not want to leave. When we arrived in Capri the owner Franco was a little late to come and get us but when he eventually came he apologised and then took us to his hotel. On the way he stopped by and let me take the most beautiful amazing pictures of Capri port and also throughout the journey told ua about Capri and all the places to visit and the history of the island. The room was nice. The hotel is located in Anacapri the more quiet town and more uphill. The views from the hotel are amazing you can see the sea and just look for hours and hours. It ia very quiet at night so you get a good night sleep. Breakfast is amazing. Fresh fruits, breads, yogurts, boiled eggs, jams, butter, croissants, tea and espresso and orange juice and water... very delicious and so much that you can't eat it all. What we used to do was to take the food that we had not eaten as snacks for the day exploring Capri. Franco will drop you off to all the places you want dropping and is just the perfect host. Would definetely come back here!

Review 92:The owner is really helpful and nice, don't forget to call him before arriving in Capri, so he can go and catch you at the port. If you want to, he can make you an itinerary for your stay or recommand you beautiful spots to see or good places where to eat. He would never say no to take you for a ride or help you in anyway!

Review 93:The only thing to nit pick, is that the breakfast wasn't the freshest, and I had to inform them about gone off Biscuits but this was resolved immediately.

Review 94:Franco the owner couldn't have done enough for us. He gave us great tips and information about Capri. It was my partners birthday and we were met with a bottle of Prosecco on the terrace at sunset. This place is a little gem huddled amongst the beauty of Capri. A must visit.

Review 95:Beds were a little hard

Review 96:Small, friendly, surrounded by flowers. Exceptional service from Franco, the owner. Franco picked us up at the ferry and took us back when it was time to leave. He also drove us into Capri one afternoon. Local restaurants will also provide transportation when you dine with them. Breakfast service on your own patio is lovely.

Review 97:Franco is the best hoster. He is a local, with so many histories and tips. He also can provides what do you need, tours, restaurants, etc. And the hotel is so beautiful, with so many details. It was so relax and confortable. Everything was amazing. And the center of Anacapri is nearby.

Review 98:we asked for a room with a view over the sea and phone to make we could have it. It was OK but when we arrived no sea view..... the other minor flaw is , like everywhere else, at breakfast, the fruit juice is awful

Review 99:everything was nearly perfect , large room and bedroom, relaxing garden, calm ....but

Review 100:There wasn't anything we did not like. However, our only constructive criticism would be to have some choice at breakfast rather than the same thing every day. Especially if you are staying for more than 1 day.

Review 101:We liked that Franco, the owner, was a very friendly, personable man. He went out of his way to make us feel at home. Picked us up from the Port and had lots of suggestions to make our trip complete. He loved to garden and the grounds were outstanding with spectacular views of the Bay of Naples. It is a family run business and they want you to feel like family when you are staying there. That meant helping yourself to anything you needed in the kitchen. He even provided wine and snacks. Loved the sunsets. The location is also excellent. A short 10 min walk to town and transportation.

Review 102:Everything! Beautifull place, amazing view, delicius breakfast! Very romantic! Great for couples!! Franco, the owner picked us in Capri Port and on the way gave us a tour of the Island! Such a nice man, very helpfull and friendly! The hotel is near AnaCapri center and bus stop!

Review 103:It is very small, family run hotel. Franco and his family made us very welcome in their place. They are very nice and helpfull. Franco gave us a lot of tips which places are worth to see and he also recommended few nice places to eat. We really enjoyed our stay in Anacapri and Franco made it more special. Breakfast was very good. We highly recommend this place!

Review 104:The only small complaint is that we would have preferred a dinner recommendation in Anacapri rather than outside the city.

Review 105:Senor Franco is a great and congenial host; his garden is fabulous. The view is unmatched, and we enjoyed the privacy of our suite.

Review 106:Warm welcoming atmosphere - Franco the owner couldn't do enough for me, fetched me from the port and took me back at the end of my stay. Beautiful tranquil surroundings, spacious clean room with good bathroom and shower, fabulous breakfast, in fact more than I could eat. A really lovely place to stay and excellent value for money.

Review 107:Franco has created a peaceful haven at Il Goardino Dell Arte away from the bustle of the touristy Capri. He extends a warm welcome from the minute he collects you at the marina that continues throughout your stay, ensuring that you have all the best local tips for places to eat, see and how to get around. Molte Grazia Franco !!

Review 108:Narrow roads & all the motor cycles, but this does not bother you whilst on the property.

Review 109:My wife & I loved every minute at Il Giardino. The owner speaks perfect English & went out of his way to make our stay as pleasant as possible, He will pick you up by car at Marina Grande, where one arrives by Ferry from Sorrento or Naples, and return you there when you leave, so you don't have to concerned about finding the place. Breakfasts were delicious and plenty, enough to keep you going till Dinner. The view and setting are spectacular. Convenient to the 3 major attractions at Anacapri, namely, Chair-lift to top of mountain, San Michele (built by Axel Munthe) & the blue grotto. We will be happy to return & stay at Il Giardino any time. Excellent value for money.

Review 110:The narrow, motorcycle crowded roads of Anacapri; none of Il Giardino dell'Arte's fault, and it is much worse on the Amalfi coast.

Review 111:Beautiful large rooms, beautiful grounds, and a wonderful host; the breakfast in the garden, the hike along the Old Fort Path, the boat ride around the island (arranged by our host) are all wonderful memories.

Review 112:Franco is always willing to help you with anything, and his garden is a delight. I enjoyed everything about my stay, including fresh garden fruit served on our patio in the garden. Walking into Anacapri and swimming in the beautiful waters surrounding the island, combined with the majestic views will be remembered for many years. I wished that I had booked to stay longer.

Review 113:There was nothing we didn't like, it was perfect stay.

Review 114:I arrived at the guesthouse with my girlfriend during our road-tripthrough Italy. Franco (the owner) picked us up at the harbor and stoppedseveral times to enjoy beautiful scenery of the Capri island and the seaon our way to Anacapri. He chose a very beautiful apartment for ourstay. We were truly thrilled when we've seen it! Two rooms in ourapartment are actually poorly separated so they form one huge space.Every piece of furniture is carefully selected and gives pleasantfeeling when you spend time in apartment. Every apartment opens incommon garden inside the guesthouse which is beautifully decorated andoffer marvelous sea view and the view on Vesuvius volcano far away.Sunsets were especially appealing, so many different colors at the sametime. Breakfast was great, first location: at the same garden you watchthe sun sets, second: it is very rich and tasty. Il Giardino is locatednear the Grotta Azzura where is the best spot for swimming andsunbathing. When on Capri island don't expect to have a lot of spotsto enter the sea: shore is most the cliff with only several places whereyou can swim. Unfortunately most of the places were private, and youhave to pay 20 euros to enter. On Grotta Azzura there is fairly"wide" public beach with a several bars. There are not so manychildren as on other beaches: here adolescents and young adults come tohave fun. Ask Franco's daughters about the best way to visit bluecave ;)..then you can sit and have a glass of prosescco in the bar abovethe Grotta, enjoying again the beautiful sea view. The town of Anacapriis charming, if some movie maker wants typical but not crowdy smallItalian city for a romantic story than Anacapri it is. City center ispedestrian zone, with a lot of small, intersecting streets where you canget lost (but don't worry you'll find your way easily--it'sjust part of the city charm).

Review 115:Most rooms don't actually have a sea view directly from the room. All rooms are on a bottom floor, so they may feel a bit humid. Don't expect complete privacy - most rooms are close to the reception area so you can see/hear other guests if your window/door is open. (This is great if you like to socialize!)

Review 116:Nice location away from the city, but within walking distance. Good breakfast on the porch. Franco is a great host and will provide free transportation and advice on excursions and day trips.

Review 117:We loved everything!

Review 118:The peace and tranquility of the location The amazing host, Franco, who was at your service - especially to drive you places and going above and beyond the call of duty Picking beautiful fruits from Franco's garden The amazing view The delicious breakfast Excellent recommendations for dining out Of the 11 properties we stayed at over 9 weeks, this was th very BEST experience

Review 119:Excellent location...very friendly place and owner mr franco...he can doeverything what you need in capri island....thank you vey my nr francoand your workin friends....ismail eren
