Reviews for Hylands Burren Hotel

Review 1:wouldn't like to stay in bedroom during summer, view of back yard, noisy air conditioning so would bot be able to open window.

Review 2:food very good, cosy fire during storm.

Review 3:There was a whistle with the wind through the window all night long. The wifi was very bad that night for the ipad for a kids movies. The television in the room did not work and when i tried to phone reception about it, the phone didn't work !!!

Review 4:Very comfortable beds.

Review 5:Room get breakfast is served is very gloomy. More lights and new layout could help a lot

Review 6:Amazing place to stay, very clean and shower and bed great. Will return.

Review 7:While we had a very nice meal in the restaurant, I asked if the beef steak was local, I didn't quiet get an answer. I love good quality Irish grass fed beef. For me it was tender, but lacked the flavour that grass gives to beef. It's a pitty when Irish restaraunts do not insist on grass fed local beef.

Review 8:The staff were very helpful, and the hotel was very comfortable to stay in

Review 9:Nothing major

Review 10:The hotel is located in lovely quite village and close to many attractions The breakfast was very good with a good variety of options including full Irish. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed and easy going

Review 11:We had a leak in our bathroom that was drenching the floor. So the facilities are needing some repair--what you would expect from an old hotel. But the hotel quickly moved us into another room.

Review 12:The hotel was a quiet place out in the Burren, so we were able to experience a little of the Ireland country. It was close to the Cliffs of Moher, which made it a relaxing day trip. The pub downstairs was convient.

Review 13:That we only stayed one night!!

Review 14:fabulous location, accommodation high standard, excellent staff and management. Bar food of superior quality. Overall a fantastic stay. Thoroughly recommend.

Review 15:Location is excellent for touring that area and pier is so close to hotel. ambience great - loads of turf fires. food excellent - 10/10!! Room very comfortable. Staff very nice - pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Review 16:Good position in town on Wild Atlantic Way. Good quality hotel, restaurant etc. made this an excellent choice. Stay 2 nights minimum and enjoy the Burren.

Review 17:I found the room a bit cold, the radiator might have been broken perhaps because it didn't come on when I tried to. When I wanted to contact reception I discovered the phone was disconnected/broken. The TV was troublesome to work and only picked up 1 channel. There was poor sound insulation from the windows meaning I could hear traffic quite loudly, making it difficult to sleep in, as well as the rather thin walls between rooms as I was able to hear the person next to me snoring.

Review 18:Very friendly and welcoming staff, and the place itself was quite cosy/homely, I particularly liked the smell of a turf fire on the go. The food was quite nice also!

Review 19:Breakfast was horrendous. No clean tables, wiped out buffet, no coffee, and the 2 people on duty were chickens with no heads. Need more, trained staff!

Review 20:Nice to have off street parking

Review 21:Water pressure was either awful or erratic. Almost no light in the bathroom. Place was decorated poorly. It had potential but didn't live up to it.

Review 22:Restaurant was decent. Bathroom in room was large

Review 23:ambivelent staff slow service for evening meal even though few in restaurant + lots of staff wandering round. hotel could do with freshening up decor

Review 24:breakfast was very good / served in a timely manner.

Review 25:Good small family hotel. Was a bit pricey because of the matchmaking festival in Lisdoonvarna. However, overall a great stay in the Hylands Burren Hotel. Will be back.

Review 26:No running water, for washing or flushing toilet. Offered various explanations but overall a sense of apathy in respect of a solution. No discount or change of room offered. Unacceptable treatment of guests. No elevator in hotel, be prepared to walk many flights of stairs. Overall disappointing experience.

Review 27:The breakfast staff were excellent and the food was lovely.

Review 28:Reception staff not very welcoming or friendly..fire alarm went off during the night...? Someone was smoking we were told but no real explanation..not enough staff in the dining room at breakfast time.

Review 29:Convenient location for the Burren. Very clean and comfortable, breakfast very good and good choice of menu

Review 30:Lovely, friendly little hotel in the centre of Ballyvaughan in the Burren. Very friendly staff with good food at a fair price. Good location to tour the Burren or just relax in the village . Visit O'laughlin's pub for a very pleasant evening and also make sure to visit the Tea Rooms.

Review 31:when we arrived nobody was at the reception. the guy came in 10 mins, no "sorry", really unfriendly. Most of the staff is not so friendly at all

Review 32:Great breakfast, spacious room

Review 33:Bad shower, flooding. Told staff of problem. Even though we did this, it was the same the next day. Bad ventilation in room. Could not open window as it had a child lock. Felt sick with the heat.

Review 34:The food and entertainment

Review 35:We arrived late in the evening around 9:40 pm after the kitchen closed, but Dave was very kind to make sandwiches from their menu for us after hours! Nice pub too

Review 36:No lift on the property but the staff is happy to help you with your luggage but something you should know ahead of time if you can't do the stairs.

Review 37:It is a very quaint place that has just the right amount of updates to make you feel comfortable.

Review 38:We had a delicious meal in the restaurant on the night we arrived; good quality food in generous portions. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was extremely comfortable (we actually ended up taking the sheets off to find out the brand of mattress!).

Review 39:Television did not work. We asked twice to have it fixed but it still did not work. We were afraid the taps in the bathroom would come off as they were so loose! Bedside lighting was very poor so it was difficult to read.

Review 40:One major fault was being charged for a double plus single family room when I was booking a single room online. With a queue behind me at reception while checking out, I paid the extra rather than create a fuss.

Review 41:I had very comfortable bed. The hotel has all the amenities one expects in a well run hotel.

Review 42:Enjoyed a wonderful two night break here. Fabulous staff, perfect location for exploring and loads of lovely dining options right on your doorstep. Would highly recommend.

Review 43:Can't fault anything

Review 44:We have come to Ballyvaughan a lot and always stay at Hyland hotel even before we had children and with the kids as they grew up. I can't praise the staff and accommodation enough and of course beautiful food.we will be back again later in the year. Thank you so much for a great stay .looking forward to coming back !!

Review 45:The food was pricey, but worth it. The wine was very overpriced. A wine list would be helpful when ordering to make guests aware.

Review 46:The food was really beautiful- dinner and breakfast. The facilities were very good, with useful toiletries supplied. The staff were very friendly.

Review 47:The hotel has just reopened its doors under new ownership. However, I understand that the new owners managed to retain the majority of the existing staff. They are to be congratulated as we found all members of the staff to be unfailingly pleasant and professional. The rooms were well-sized and comfortable. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very homely. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay and I recommend Hylands highly as a base from which to explore the Burren.

Review 48:The only downside was the room was cold.

Review 49:The food was fantastic. We ate in the bar that evening and it was excellent. Also the breakfast the next morning was very good.

Review 50:The room had no hair dryer. The toilet was very wobbly. The TV had the minimum channels and no DVD player. Would like to have been able to find details about WIFI access in the room.

Review 51:Temperature of room. Location. Breakfast. Christmas Decorations, dinner option of twin beds. The blackout screen.

Review 52:It was a pity that they do not have real fires in the all the sitting areas of the hotel. The decor or the table arrangements in the restaurant were not very appealing.

Review 53:The hotel is located very well and you can walk to all the nearby pubs and restaurants, with convenient parking at the back of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay even though it was at the end of November and most places were closed. It an ideal location for touring or walking in the Burren.

Review 54:Double bed whilst comfortable could have been bigger. Tv in the room had only 2 channels and quite fuzzy

Review 55:Breakfast Lovely spacious warm room Friendly staff Peace and Quiet

Review 56:Lack of television channels was the only downer and trying to entertain children on a rainy day is kind of hard in a medium size room

Review 57:I liked everything about this hotel the staff was friendly and the food was very good my children enjoyed every meal they had and we had an excellent stay

Review 58:This is a very comfortable hotel with great amenities in a peaceful village near the sea. The restaurant served some of the best food we had in Ireland and the bathrooms were spacious with awesome water pressure. We had a booking snafu, but the front desk staff were gracious and helpful. Would stay here again!

Review 59:I was surprised that they did not have some of the printed info and maps of the many walking routes but the staff compensated with their local knowledge

Review 60:this hotel is so friendly, homely, no fuss, just chill and enjoy the hospitality and the surrounding countryside

Review 61:Nothing to dislike about our stay there

Review 62:The staff were so helpful . All in all it would compare with places with higher profile and surpass a lot of them

Review 63:we have no complaints

Review 64:our room was very comfortable, we had our evening meal at the hotel which was very good as was our breakfast. All members of staff that we had dealings with were very friendly and helpful, we will be back.

Review 65:Lovely welcome, room was bright and spacious with a double and singele bed. Bathroom was spot on with plenty of hot water. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Ideal spot to stay.

Review 66:TV system needs upgrading (which I understand is in hand).

Review 67:Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely relaxing atmosphere in the hotel common areas. Very good breakfasts with plenty of choice. Superb central location for visiting all parts of the Burren (and Galway Bay).

Review 68:The staff of the hotel are superb. The location relative to important spots of Ireland is outstanding. Overall a perfect choice for a Irish experience of warmth and hospitality Thanks

Review 69:Our room (14) was over the pub/restaurant so we were delayed until about 11 pm in getting to sleep by the wonderful Irish music followed by peoples' muffled voices in conversation.

Review 70:Bedroom and bathroom clean and spacious. Big tub with plenty of hot water to fill it. Beds comfortable. Old world charm but updated

Review 71:They did not have our booking, but when I showed my confirmation, all was well.

Review 72:This was an easy location to find. The room and bed was comfortable. We were pleased, as we only booked the night before. The food at both the bar in the evening and morning breakfast was good.

Review 73:Both of our two nights had noisy late night functions going on just below our room, presumably in connection with the hotel. We slept through these without a problem, though others may not have fared so well.

Review 74:Friendly and helpful staff. Easy-going atmosphere which hides a perfectly efficient organisation. Cosmopolitan clientele including cyclists and walkers, as well as locals.Good food, though slightly limited menu for a longer stay.

Review 75:Ballyvaughn was an unexpected jewel and the Hylands Burren likewise. Staff was terrific and the kitchen was excellent. Overall a memorable experience for my wife and me.

Review 76:The fire alarm started ringing in te middle of the night without reason. But I guess I was unlucky on that

Review 77:Nice hotel, bathromm clean, nice food, nice breakfast

Review 78:Unfortunately a neighbouring bar featured traditional Irish music which would be great without heavy amplification and crowd noise going on until at least 2.0 am. Our Room had a dismal view of the hotel's back yard - complete with garbage.

Review 79:The hotel is to a good village standard with pleasant staff. Food is bistro bar standard. Hotel is in centre of village and has good off-road parking at rear.

Review 80:Room just a bit tired which was disappointing as not inexpensive. Wall paper torn, and marked which could be easily be fixed, with a little time and care. Knobs off doors and drawers. Fixable .

Review 81:Exceptionally friendly staff Great food, fantastic location. Very busy and helpful at all times

Review 82:Accommodation was good. Our evening meal after we arrived late was delicious. The impromptu Irish music and singing with some of the hotel guests joining in was fantastic. It felt like true Irish welcome and tradition. We loved it.

Review 83:Lovely food, cosy hotel. Friendly staff.

Review 84:Bedrooms need a face lift, looking very dated.room lovely and warm but very stuffy

Review 85:Friendly staff,cosy atmosphere

Review 86:Thelocation and scenery as well as the comfort The dinners and the dinners.

Review 87:The signage directing you to the carpark could be clearer

Review 88:Really comfortable bed rooms. Yummy food in the bar/restaurant

Review 89:Loved everything about our stay. Wonderful service, great breakfast and cozy rooms. Enjoyed our meals in the restaurant too!

Review 90:Basic accommodation but, really nice to stay in and a very reasonable price. Large comfortable bed. Quiet. Lovely breakfast next morning.
