Reviews for Hotel Causeway
Review 1:Lack of step into raised spa bath/shower, dangerous. Parking deceptive - thought it was located with hotel. For same price of hotel room we could've had 5 star luxury. Wasn't aware until arrival the cost of parking, it just said parking available and may come at a cost
Review 2:The room was spacious Large comfortable bed
Review 3:rooms looked a little tired especially the bathroom, but clean and comfortable terrible view over the back of the other buildings but expected in this location and we were not there to look out of the window
Review 4:location was very central accommodation comfortable
Review 5:Very inaccessible location of power points under television stand. Variable pressure in shower, hard to mix hot and cold. No handles to assist access to shower. Wifi should be free in this day and age. Other hotels in Melbourne provide this.
Review 6:Happily portered our luggage for two days at no cost. Roomed cleaned and replenished daily.
Review 7:Air con was noisy and not overly effective. Rooms just a bit tired...
Review 8:Location fantastic. Right in the centre...and without all the city noise! Quick follow up on issues and staff very helpful
Review 9:Our room was right next to the lift which is a very noisy one! When we mentioned it to staff at reception they took little interest and suggested we should have written into the comments box on booking that we would like a room away from the lift. I've never had a problem with lift noise in any other hotel I've stayed at so would never have thought to include it for this booking.
Review 10:fantastic location
Review 11:The air con in the room was ineffective. It was a very hot day and the room temperature was equal to the outside ambient temperature. Also, as I had to move to another room, I wasn't comp'ed the mini bar for my inconvenience. I have stayed at this location a number of times and would have thought that as a returning client, I would have been looked after a lot better.
Review 12:The staff were happy to move me to another room when I complained about the poor air conditioning
Review 13:The decor was a bit tired. and although the place was clean it really needs an internal face lift.
Review 14:It was right in the middle of everything, shopping, food and entertainment
Review 15:Have stayed several times at Hotel and enjoy the happy, helpful and knowledgeable staff. This Hotel is situated in heart of city and great for easy access to transport and shopping/sightseeing.
Review 16:The carpet in the hallway looks old and tired and hence very much uninviting as one walks out of the lift. The lift stops at an uneven position to the floor, hence poses the risk of tripping. I did kind of trip a bit twice.
Review 17:My room has a king size bed and still has reasonably good space around it. Hotel was in a central location close to shops and tram stations.
Review 18:One staff member on arriving didn't know much about the rooms. Air con was struggling on hot night.
Review 19:Central Location Size and style of room Staff helpful
Review 20:Narrow reception area - a chaotic space when there are a few people there or people with a pram. Small room - ideal for one not sure about a couple. Some of the common areas are tired and could use some maintenance - large broken vinyl tiles in the lift, signs of water damage on the painted-ceilings from a leaking roof or pipe on the upper level. The room itself however was perfect. Not a steam iron but the dry iron worked effectively and was clean so no complaints at all.
Review 21:Small but well-appointed and smart room was perfect for a short stay. Very private and quiet. Comfortable bed. Nice touches like two apples and some chocolates and morning newspaper all included in the very low room rate, slippers and bathrobes in the room too. Stocked mini-bar fridge also great for a room at this very low price. Windows that open for air, own air conditioning controls and good room electronic security to each room and floor (need key to access floor). Good breakfast options nearby. You'd be paying double this price for a similar if slightly larger room in many Melbourne hotels.
Review 22:The bathroom was a little tired and small. But we spent little time in the room so it didn't really bother us.
Review 23:Location location location. It's right smack in the city, less than 5 mins walk to Myers through David Jones. Everything about the stay was good.
Review 24:Different staff were knocking on the door asking about the mini bar and also if our room had been cleaned. Maybe a tag to hang on door that the room needs cleaning when guests leave for the day would be good.
Review 25:Beds and pillows were comfortable. Sheets and towels were excellent.
Review 26:Breakfast was ordinary coffee machine broken no attempt to fix. Staff disturbed me 3 times despite do not disturb sign.a lot of pressure to leave on time by 10 on last day. Room key failed twice.
Review 27:Location was fantastic.
Review 28:I was charged over $700 for a room that was worth $150 at best. It was dusty, in desperate need of an update had rusty appliances. Worst booking.com hotel stay ever!!
Review 29:The staff were friendly
Review 30:The bathroom was disgracefully small, uncomfortable and access to the shower was very difficult and the plumbing and layout of the bathroom was dangerous. The shower curtain was hung so as to contact the person in the shower. Also, in 2015, wifi should be free.
Review 31:Location and proximity to transport and restaurants was excellent.
Review 32:was expecting rooms to be a lot nicer, have stayed at all 3 causeway motels in Melbourne and found this one to be very basic compared to the other 2 hotels
Review 33:I believe quilts should have covers due to hygiene reasons.our quilt was stained and yellow not white when asked to change it it took two hours we were very tired and needed a sleep after our flight
Review 34:Dining room was pretty good
Review 35:Stayed on 5th floor near the lift and it was very noisy I don't think the stairs to mezzanine are legal
Review 36:Location is great for shopping for dining. Parking also close and good price Late check out was available
Review 37:Just a slight odour in bathroom.
Review 38:Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was extremely convenient with many shops and cafes nearby. Our room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was more than adequate.
Review 39:Paying for wifi is a bit of an insult at best these days. The furniture was old and scratched, the water warm but not hot, and the elevator noisy.
Review 40:The location is excellent and exciting, the staff were kind and always helpful, which led to a romantic experience in Melbourne.
Review 41:VERY noisy lift, which kept us awake. Don't book a duplex room, there are only 3, numbers 521-523 as the lift mechanism desperately needs replacing or servicing and you can hear it grinding and banging loudly. We arranged to leave some luggage here for a week prior to arriving (and had an email as proof) but had to speak to several members of staff when we were there before they would agree to hold our cases.
Review 42:Great location, easy to walk to most attractions
Review 43:Being locked out of rooms at 10 am when an 11am checkout had been arranged. Clean dirty hand marks from bathroom door No wine or sparking wine in bar fridge
Review 44:Comfortable bed, complimentary water, fruit & chocolates, helpful staff Breakfast is basic, bar fridge fair value
Review 45:No bad experiences....... but Not enough movie channels. The bathroom needed the grout cleaned.
Review 46:Liked the complimentary apples and chocolates. The cleaning in the room was done well.
Review 47:we only had a very short visit, arrived about 7pm for an 8pm neil diamond concert , then caught a 6.20am train back to Trafalgar to commence work [self employed} Very happy with the tariff have talked to many friends who will visit your hotel.
Review 48:Our room was a bit run down. You could hear the lift all night as well as the people in the room next to us going up and down their stairs to their mezzanine level. It was like being next to a fire escape.
Review 49:The very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 50:I was next to lift shaft which was extremely noisy, also you could hear the people next door going up and down the stairs which they also would have heard me. Really nice place but I don''t think anyone staying near lift shaft would have been happy, it's just the luck of the draw.
Review 51:The wifi stopped working when I desperately needed it. Went to a coffee and did my work from there, it was arround 11pm
Review 52:Very well located, can do everything without car, and also very comfortable
Review 53:Entrance foyer is a bit dingy-- some art work, or flowers or a brighter wall colour would improve the first impression
Review 54:Great location. good to have breakfast included. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable and staff were able to accommodate my request for a walk-in shower
Review 55:The staff did not change our glasses in our room when cleaned. As I found a glass with my lipstick on it after the cleaning lady had been and tidied our room. Not impressed.
Review 56:Location of the hotel excellent and close to all shopping transport cafes etc
Review 57:Shuttle bus from Southern Cross to hotel took longer than I thought and could have dropped us down one block further but that wasn't the end of the world really.
Review 58:Close to where we wanted to go, Federation Square. Close to a variety of food choices; cafes, restaurants, etc.
Review 59:We liked its central position. The buffet breakfast was just perfect for us. The staff were extremely helpful and this all made for a very enjoyable stay. Would highly recommend.
Review 60:Hotel Causeway was great, very comfortable & clean. Our room was right near the lift, it was a little noisy but for a very lite sleeper it was not a problem. King size bed was good not as good as home but we weren't home, sofa bed as Child's bed was suitable for a child. Majority of the staff had no enthusiasm or personality, maybe it's because the foyer is so small and dull. Having said that - awesome location, awesome place to stay will definitely stay there again.
Review 61:Friendly staff always had a smile. For the location (in the middle of Bourke street mall) it was relatively quiet in the room which was great as we had a baby. Facilities were great and bed was comfy.
Review 62:The shower was terrible, temperature wouldn't regulate. Not really what you come to expect in a major city's hotel.
Review 63:The location is fantastic. The bed and pillows were comfortable.
Review 64:The fabric of the hotel is looking tired. The hallway carpets do not lie flat; the walls are scuffed and the signs are out-of-date ( for example the elevator indicates a bar on floor 2 which has not existed for years)
Review 65:Hotel is ideally situated for moving around the CBD and other nearby attractions. The staff were friendly and the room was quite comfortable for a week-long stay.
Review 66:The bathroom needs proper clean the grout in shower in particular I suggest a pot of Gumption from Bunnings and an old tooth brush would do wonders! The towel rail oppisite the loo fell off the wall in Room 426 also. Wall scuffs. The bad drip marks on light coloured carpet can be removed easily with warm water and white soap.
Review 67:Position in city and breakfast
Review 68:The place badly needs a revamp. Looks really tired. The doors in our room needed wiping down. There were stains on the chairs and marks on the drapes. Mugs would be better than cups also.
Review 69:The location, staff were very helpful. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 70:Breakfast was a rip off! $18 could have bought us a great cafe breakfast next door atlovely cafe, instead we got toast, cereal and fruit!!
Review 71:Being so close to cbd, quiet and lovely staff.
Review 72:All good!
Review 73:Great location in the CBD - close to Bourke St Mall, trams, restaurants, short walk to Convention Centre. Couldnt hear any outside noise, and hotel was surrounded by many coffee shops. A great base to explore the city!
Review 74:I felt the rooms were a bit outdated and our room was right next to the lift which was noisy. There was 3 of us and the third bed was a pull out sofa bed. Quite uncomfortable for my 17 year old daughter.
Review 75:Loved the location and the staff were very nice and helpful.
Review 76:The lift noise... I was on the 4th floor in the room right next to the lift and there was mechanical noise every time it started. Fortunately I was stuffed so a little noise was not going to stop me sleeping. It could be a problem though if you are a light sleeper and get this room. Check!
Review 77:Excellent location and really quiet. Mixture of new and old which I liked and the price was right. There is a good gym and in warmer weather the rooftop patio would be excellent with a beer. Oh and the spa bath... oh yeah!
Review 78:Our room was next to the lift and you could hear it going up and down all night. The bathroom could have done with a bit of an update and price for one night was through the roof but we were there for Real Madrid v's Manchester City so all hotels had put up their prices.
Review 79:Location was excellent and service staff at front desk were very helpful and willing to help, friendly. Bed was comfortable and there was no issue when we arrived early to check in and asked if we could store our luggage after check out. Fantastic for a great weekend in Melbourne for shopping or special events.
Review 80:the lifts were a bit scary and other parts were a bit tired looking too. No complimentary WiFi
Review 81:The comfy bed and and pillow and Temperature in room. The helpful guy at reception on Monday when we left.
Review 82:Nothing really
Review 83:Great location. Comfortable bed. Nice sized room. Good value. Certainly not a 'luxury' hotel but great as a place to rest after seeing the Melbourne sights.
Review 84:I did not like when I had to ring my bank just to check if my card was working or not because the guy from the reception did not thought that their credit card reader needs fixing.
Review 85:I like that the hotel was right at the heart of the city.
Review 86:The housekeeping staff would knock once, then just let themselves in. I barely had time to throw a towel on!
Review 87:The location was very good. It was quiet, the room was comfortable.
Review 88:Pity about lift not working & staff not putting a sign on door so people were not standing & waiting. Staff were aware.
Review 89:Loved the location, room was a bit dated but heh we were just sleeping there & did have a good sleep.Did not have the breakfast as were on top of so many cafes to eat at.
Review 90:The hotel has seen better days generally, the reception and rooms were OK but the corridors, lifts and breakfast room were shabby and in need of renovation. Furthermore, the breakfast was poor to average. For the price I paid for one night I wasn't impressed, but the price was obviously increased due to major sporting event that day.
Review 91:The location is great, right in the heart of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 92:Shower leaking onto floor. Height of spa tub as I have a bruise on my inner thigh from trying to get out of the shower. A step would have been a good idea or a lower tub.
Review 93:Location & knowledge of area by staff
Review 94:Bathroom desperately needs an upgrade. Could see the ageing in the tiles and grout ang was a bit scary going barefoot.
Review 95:Location is in heart of city. Close to everything.
Review 96:We didn't like the water in our shower, it was good temperature to start and throughout our shower it would change to boiling hot or freezing cold.
Review 97:We loved the welcoming gesture we got every time we entered the building and the goodbye we got when we left the building everyday from the staff members.
Review 98:Had a problem with the heating but I'm sure it was a one off situation and we could hear the elevator a little !
Review 99:Location was excellent, staff were great and a reasonable price.
Review 100:Bathroom a bit old and tired - wobbly soap holder, grungy tiles and grout. But then again if if was brand new it wouldn't be so cheap so I guess its a trade off.
Review 101:We arrived a 11 am to leave our luggage (to check in later) but our room was ready which was great so we could freshen up straight away. Staff always pleasant.
Review 102:great locations!! to all shops restaurants & trams in the city ..... Staff were very friendly room was ready when we got there in the morning at 8.30 that was really good to unpack then hit the shops for a full day out & about!!!
Review 103:Rooms were very basic and cold (heating was poor), bathroom was average, no free wifi, lack of atmosphere.
Review 104:Location is in heart of shopping and eating district of CBD. Good continental breakfast, nice staff.
Review 105:Roadworks outside were a bit noisy but that's to be expected in a city.
Review 106:The hotel is on a perfect location...close to everything. Room was lovely and clean and the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 107:Bed too hard. Bathroom poorly executed/designed Flooring access panel placed in irregular position Carpet in entrance of bathroom was ripped up + water damage
Review 108:The price of the room with a spa The location. Restaurant next door was convenient
Review 109:Out of all of the many staff at the desk, only one young woman greeted me. Not welcoming. The lift was like an old service lift, grubby with damaged flooring. The cream border carpet in the bedroom was badly stained. Skirting board had suffered damp from the bathroom and hadn't been fixed. Furniture chipped, chairs worn and grubby looking. I put a towel over one before I would sit in it. Disappointing. When it was freshly done we stayed there quite a few times but it hasn't been maintained very well and the years have slipped by.
Review 110:Good location, where I wanted to be. The bed was clean and comfortable. Otherwise I would have moved.
Review 111:Little things matter and don't take much effort, things like the back of the bathroom door was dirty, the bathroom had obviously flooded at some stage and the had caused the skirting boards on the bathroom/bedroom wall to be all damaged and the curtains really need to be hung properly.
Review 112:The bed was very comfortable and the location was excellent for restaurants and shopping and access to Bourke and Collins streets.
Review 113:The location is excellent - close to all the shops and public transport. SkyBus even does a drop off very close by. There was a nice touch with complimentary chocolates, the room was very clean and the staff were quite friendly and helpful.
Review 114:I don't really have anything. If I have to say something - bigger mugs for coffee machine in breakfast area.
Review 115:The location the best. Staff & facilities also great!
Review 116:I was disappointed that there was no mention by staff on the Sunday morning after being evacuated from our room at 1.00 am due to fire alarm. No "How are you" or "Apologies for having to escape at 1.00 am this morning". Had to ask for extra towel in a twin room as there was only 1 towel. Could do with 2 lots of milk in case a 2nd cup of tea is wanted.
Review 117:I liked the location, the room was clean and comfortable, bath robes available, staff pleasant. Fire alarms do work.
Review 118:Noisy Air conditioner - Hard to Sleep Rooms need Upgrade Some Staff (tall female) not so nice. Staff seem confused when there is a problem Staff talking loudly outside room near storage room
Review 119:Comfy Beds & Good Quality Linen Location of hotel good
Review 120:Nothing, just that my first impression was not good, but we liked it there.
Review 121:I like the Location, amenities, there was a bathrobe & slippers, aircond.was working, warm water, sleeping madrass was ok. Just perfect.
Review 122:Doona had bad stains and bathroom sealant around bath desperately needs replacing black which looked very unhygienic.
Review 123:Location, special rate for 2 night stay with bfast, access to cafe
Review 124:rooms were outdated and need renovation/touch ups Bed was 2 kings singles put together as a king middle section was really uncomfortable due to the edges of the 2 mattresses
Review 125:Location was great especially being right in the center of the cbd.
Review 126:The room was very small and the floor on which we stayed was very tired and in need of many repairs.
Review 127:The requested quiet room was provided and yes it was quiet - thank you. The hotel location is very central and the parking arrangement was extremely affordable except that the car park closed at 10pm Mon - Fri and 6pm on the weekends! Sort of not really useful.
Review 128:We were very close to the lift: made horrible, loud noise every time it was in use/day & night. Broken sleep +++
Review 129:The position of the Hotel Causeway
Review 130:tiles around bath showing age, needs a spruce up. looks moldy in places
Review 131:bed and pillows very comfortable, room size good for 2 people. rooms are getting a little tired and carpets need a clean.
Review 132:The daily room cleanibg service was not up to expectation. (I.e: certain days they forgot to change the used cup/ glass, did not wipe the tables so we can actually see the dust)
Review 133:Welcoming staff, comfort , assistance , location. Overall relaxing stay , great location for public transport without stressing getting around the CBD. - enteraintment / eating places . Storage of our cases whilst we extended our stay ,prior to heading home.
Review 134:They were so kind to update our room however I was travelling with my invalid mother and she couldn't get into the spa bath. They then found us another room. I do appreciate the thought. Location is fantastic. Have stayed before. Lovely and quiet room. Beds very comfortable. Staff very helpful.
Review 135:I found the bed and pillows uncomfortable.
Review 136:The staff were excellent. The room was clean and quiet even as close to the dining room as we were still didn't hear any noise. The location of the hotel was great for us.
Review 137:Breakfast was very basic as was the room for the price we paid.
Review 138:Location was great, right next to the mall and loads of shops and China town. Room was clean and the staff knowledgable
