Reviews for Mantra on Salt Beach

Review 1:Breakfast wasn't very personal... Mass produced Also very little shade when having breakfast They should do a shuttle bus into town as long walk

Review 2:The sofa bed we used for our child was very uncomfortable to lay down on even for 7 years old. We were trying to switch our extra nights from Peppers to Mantra as we liked the place so much, but were told it was impossible as we'd booked through third party.

Review 3:Location- Sound of the ocean was very relaxing! Our room was facing residential street and had no ocean view, but it wad quiet with only the ocean sound to be heared. Great to unwind. Fantastic gate away everywhere.

Review 4:Nothing.

Review 5:The staff were really helpful and pleasant especially Elisa on reception, when we had a problem with our room she was very helpful and organised for us to change room with no fuss at all. Nothing was too much trouble for her.

Review 6:The louvres on the bathroom doors were very dusty in both our rooms, they all need a good clean or be replaced with solid doors. Laundry door and dryer broken in one room, they need fixing. Pool loungers were not the most comfortable.

Review 7:Fabulous service, an array of amenities, very comfortable beds, great coffee, good food, quiet rooms, options available at Salt Village for dining, snacks and shopping, relaxing pool area, shutters in rooms, patrolled beach in front of resort, kilometers of bike paths, high quality of all aspects of resort.

Review 8:enjoyed not taking the car out could walk to were we wanted to go. fireworks were fantastic on New Years Eve. Even though a lot of people it still had a quite calm relax feel about the place.

Review 9:We overlooked the pool with the hot tub and saw several people fall trying to get to the hot tub. Access to it is not great, too many pebbles and tiles far apart.

Review 10:Staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed for 4 nights, fresh towels would have been nice after two nights.

Review 11:pool bar closed at 6 pm. pools overrun by children. No adult pool. hotel interior dated and looked tired. overall, it was very expensive, mediocre experience.

Review 12:great access to the beach

Review 13:The couch in our apartment wasn't really the most comfortable when we wanted to watch the news together. Maybe something to put your feet up on would have helped.

Review 14:Most things - it was very comfortable.

Review 15:The room had an unusual smell. The carpets really needed more than vaccuming. The breakfast was not worth the money paid

Review 16:The location close to the beach, the pool, the lobby. Comfortable Bed. Nice balcony

Review 17:We booked a two bedroom apartment but got a one bedroom apartment with a connected room contrary to our expectation. Consequently the lounge/kitchen area is a bit tight for four people.

Review 18:We book this hotel because it was close to our daughter's wedding venue. It is close to the beach and has got a few eateries downstairs which is not part of the hotel operations.

Review 19:The Surge Bar buffet breakfast could be improved. Adding new items/ more variety would make it more appealing e.g. Roasted tomatoes, more sweet option (pancakes).

Review 20:Location and accessibility to a great variety of restaurants. Also, beautiful pool and gardens.

Review 21:One tiny negative. The drains in our appartment were a bit smelly. Didn't spoil our stay though.

Review 22:Very relaxing holiday ambience. Beautiful pool and surroundings. Fabulous restaurants so close. Would stay again!

Review 23:Great relaxing place with beautiful surroundings. We came with our 7 month old. He was in the cot in the bedroom. We stayed in a one bed apartment which was great. Very relaxing, and the pool was excellent. Beach just a stones throw away. We love it and hope to come back.

Review 24:That there wasn't free internet, and that i asked for pool side room and twin beds didnt get these requests. That hiring bikes were over priced .need to have free bus service into kingscliff.

Review 25:Cleanses, staff were polite, lots of car parks, food was great .

Review 26:No smiles at all from young female staff member when checking in, and made us feel like we were a real problem when we asked to see other rooms when we were given a room overlooking car park. I smiled and made a little apology (which I shouldn't have) when checking other rooms before making a decision. She has this cranky, hassled, roll your eyes look, still with no smile. I would have smiled and acted the same whether it was a male or female staff. She was difficult, and for the following two days staying there, we got no smiles or greetings from any other staff we passed. No hassle to ask to check other rooms in Java or Bali in our experience - and these were done with a smile.

Review 27:Peaceful and quiet was the general location, and so close to the beach.

Review 28:Not a deal breaker but if there was provision to add a kids play area outside it would be much better. Too expensive if wanting to hire activity equipment eg quad bicycle

Review 29:Our group had 12 rooms booked and they were all so far away from each other we spent wasted time coordinating everyone - the booking was made together and it would have been so much easier if we could have been together

Review 30:Location

Review 31:The bed was not comfortable at all rolled into the middle all night. Very noisy hotel. Could hear doors slamming all night and could hear every foot step of the people above us.

Review 32:Great location Close to shops and dining

Review 33:The fact that the restaurant (Peppers?) looked as though it was part of the Mantra but it wasn't. This was a bit of a problem in that we couldn't book our dinner costs to our room and after getting settled in then had to go back to our rooms to get funds. A warning on check-in would have been very helpful. A better map of the complex would have been great as well.

Review 34:Professional and friendly staff; lovely breakfast and relaxing environment

Review 35:Wireless was not included, very expensive and extremely slow.

Review 36:Located directly at the beach with some nice restaurants close by, and Kingscliff only 10mins by bike away. Beautiful pools (salzwater, hot & cold), apartment very clean and new.

Review 37:Wish they would clean their public washrooms more.

Review 38:Excellent resort. Beautiful and relaxing! Pool is amazing and resort is on the beach. Many eating options.

Review 39:Free wifi would b nice and we stayed 4 nights and no fresh towels were provided or was room cleaned once. Pay a lot of $ to stay and those service would have been nice. Buffet breakfast at resort to expensive.

Review 40:Quite and beautiful lawn/pool areas.

Review 41:The only thing we didn't like was there was a smell of mildew in the apartment.

Review 42:Everything was great. Loved the big bath and king size bed was very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Close to the beach and shops and a good base to explore the north NSW area.

Review 43:Ocean view room barely had a view of the ocean in the far distance - not like pictures on the website. Quite far away from Kingscliffe you need a car to travel to other shops, cafes that are not part of the Salt facilities.

Review 44:Hotel nice and facilities good such as the pool area and nearby restaurants.

Review 45:We were allocated to an apartment that was a good few minute walk from reception, felt a little out of the way from main attractions such as pool, spa etc

Review 46:Great value, very spacious!

Review 47:Not too keen on the breakfast, very crowded, thought the bike and tennis court hire should have been included in the price of stay!

Review 48:The apartment was very comfortable and beautifully furnished ,great location and lovely grounds

Review 49:The room we had was a ground floor level even though I requested an upper story room. The room was good but the pillows were terrible.

Review 50:The room was clean

Review 51:We were given an awful room at first which was very disappointing so we asked to be given another.

Review 52:When we asked to be changed to another room we were given a great room. This made our stay so much more enjoyable.

Review 53:Breakfast terrace -very hot in sun with pesky seagulls.

Review 54:Our spacious one bedroom unit was excellently appointed and overlooking one pool. Main pool had beach lagoon feel with spa jets, very relaxing.Lots to do in Kingscliff area.

Review 55:The cost of the 4 wheel carts was ridiculously expensive with flat tires, everyone we ran into said they were too hard. we couldn't use them for the whole time at all. Pump the tires on these so they are usable.

Review 56:Great for families, lots to do. Lots on site, restaurants, etc. right on the beach which is stunning! beautiful walking trails. great room, was very comfortable!

Review 57:Car parking was confusing and insufficient. Signage at lifts was also confusing ie indication that reception is just an up arrow. Why not make it level 1. Same applies to the rooms! No room service.

Review 58:Location and great staff. Set up and location of restaurants and hotel.

Review 59:The doona is a bit scratchy. The wifi charging is a bit lame being 2015.

Review 60:Loved the shops just outside Mantra. Good pools and lots of chairs available. Great having Foxtel.

Review 61:When we checked in the lady at reception didn't tell us any information. About the facilities at the hotel. We didn't know about the shops until the last night that we were there

Review 62:The pool facilities were beautiful and also beachfront location. The room was lovely and clean and very comfortable

Review 63:Very clean facilities, large carp ark, room had view of the ocean and the pool. Restaurants very close by both takeaway and dine in. Convenience store adjacent. Close to beach.

Review 64:There was no daily service to make up our room. Charging $25/day for wifi is ludicrous when it is free in every other country we've visited. The pool was freezing.

Review 65:Friendly staff and good location.

Review 66:Lack of car park spaces. A fair distance away from Kingscliff so a car is needed

Review 67:Hotel room not far from reception. Nice spacious room. Very comfortable bed. All the facilities that I required in the room.

Review 68:When using the shower ,water flowed over most of the bathroom floor instead of flowing through the shower drain hole . This made access to the toilet & vanity basin a risky operation in case of slipping on the water logged floor as well as getting your feet wet in the process.A barrier of some type would be beneficial to contain water run off from the shower flowing over the whole bathroom floor area.

Review 69:Close to beach ;nice pools & shops &,restaurants etc within walking distance.

Review 70:The food provided for the buffet breakfast was very average, warm and dry. Small detail for an overall excellent experience.

Review 71:The room, hotel, views, facilities and staff was excellent, fabulous location with restaurants a short walk nearby and a short walk to the beach

Review 72:Need hard thick pillows, not just soft thin pillows. Didn't have a shower wand.

Review 73:Lovely house keeping staff helping us when not able to access hallway door with swipe card.

Review 74:That we could not use the spa outside because a group of people hogged it all night.. every night. If this could be monitored. It would not take much for the reception staff to ask politely to 'share' the pleasure of the spa. These people were in there for 3 hours!

Review 75:The ocean view from room. The location. The gym. The hire of bikes. Tennis. Everything.

Review 76:Bed, (complained about it being v hard and not a double but 2 x singles) location not near any other restaurants etc, shower in bedroom - gloomy - room generally - no view unless you like watching other people walking past, no drinking water oy tap - generally not worth the price charge - had better for less than half this

Review 77:Not much

Review 78:Very spread out so quite a distance to room. Hallway carpets look stained and tired. Flight path noise. Rooms not very sound proof, woke to constant knocking on doors by room service. Also not complete block out of light for late sleepers.

Review 79:Great restaurants and atmosphere.

Review 80:The fixed price breakfast was a bit tired and didn't include proper (cappuccinos or lattes). We went to a cafe outside because of this.

Review 81:The room was really well and freshly appointed. Complimentary high quality teas, laundry detergent etc are especially ap preciated on a short break shopping is a nuisance.

Review 82:Huge resort & not easy to find way around with time pressure to get to a wedding, staff had room ready early- good

Review 83:Front desk staff checked that room was ready, no porter??

Review 84:I thought it was a hotel and not a resort for families with young kids - Not the fault of the resort. The add said that it was an ocean view room - not much of a view.

Review 85:Happy to get a room during school holidays after we had our booking cancelled at another location. Clean rooms, overall looked well run and offered facilities for a family stay.

Review 86:Our stay was great, a card and wine for our anniversary was such a beautiful touch, that has never happened to us before, the bed was amazing, had the best sleeps ever, the room was just getting a little jaded around the edges, like around shower screen, bad scuff marks of floor, which is to be expected, the staff were very friendly and very helpful, I was going to stay an extra night but because of 97% capacity the tariff was horrendous, wasn't expecting that, nearly double what we paid for 3 nights. As beautiful as it was, the room was not worth $330. Above all that, we did enjoy our 3 nights there very much, thankyou.

Review 87:not a bad experience but the walk from the lobby to our room in wing 6 was longer than I would expect, carrying large heavy bags and walking through the rain at some stages of the walk

Review 88:liked the location, attended wedding at restaurant close to motel

Review 89:I thought our room would have an ocean view or at least looked over the main pool area at the back of the property instead our room was at the front overlooking the tennis courts & smaller pool, which was full of kids... very very noisy... Needed to keep the door closed to help block out the noise.

Review 90:Wifi was a bit expensive but I didn't need it just feedback. I booked through bookings.com and I had never been to the resort. I could have been unsold breakfast but wasn't offered when checking in. Something to think of

Review 91:Staff were great and helpful very accomodating.

Review 92:The tall trees overtaking the view of the ocean The inability to request a specific requirement until the day of arrival eg ocean view or over the pool The fact that I have been coming to Salt for 10years and there is no loyalty programme or even acknowledgement of prior visits A 'welcome back Ms Grant'' would go a long way

Review 93:The view of the ocean although getting harder to see The spa bath and cooking facilities

Review 94:Breakfast was very crowded hard to find a table and when we did had to ask for it to be cleared after 10 minutes waiting

Review 95:We like the closeness to the beach, restaurants and amenities in general.

Review 96:We booked four rooms back in January. Thought all rooms could have been together rather than spread all over property. Also elderly relative of ours were taken out of their room and moved to Peppers which I feel was not professional at all considering they had already paid to be there.

Review 97:Convenient location considering we had a family wedding to attend in Kingscliff. Rooms are comfortable for a short stay.

Review 98:Cost of the wifi, breakfast wasn't as good as several other Mantra resorts we have stayed at.

Review 99:I couldn't rate the staff more highly! They were extremely helpful and nothing was too hard. They even found us a more suitable room on request.

Review 100:bed comfort poor, too soft , received a backache, room size too small, air conditioner, poor location, when switched on , cold air goes through you as it is too close to bed,,...noise from the pool pump and outside noise.

Review 101:privacy , seclusion, relaxed atmosphere , lovely gardens.

Review 102:Open areas between wings is a downside in winter or colder windy weather. Lack of room service except at a price and no free wifi access were a disappointment particularly when at every other place we stayed free wifi is the norm.

Review 103:Great location for the purpose of my visit which was to catch up with relatives living nearby. Grounds are well keep and picturesque. Fortunate to have a good view of the ocean ans see the occasional whale in the distance.

Review 104:I liked the professionalism and eagerness to help any way required. I was also impressed by the confidentiality when someone wanted to access my room, i appreciated this

Review 105:Poor score on Breakfast as last two visits the Mantra was not providing breakfast and necessary to visit the nearby Peppers.

Review 106:Reception staff, excellent location. Modern facilities, large bathroom, beautiful grounds and pool area

Review 107:Loved the view from our room. Worth the extra dollars. Friendly staff and very relaxed atmosphere. TV didn't work and within 15 minutes of phoning reception, we had a maintenance man at our door and problem was solved. Everything else with the room was perfect. Even though the resort was busy with weddings and family activities, we experienced a very private and relaxed weekend. Would not hesitate in recommending to others.

Review 108:Fantastic location, facilities and rooms immaculate, gardens and pool areas very well maintained. Could not fault anything would definitely stay there again.

Review 109:I expect wifi to be free these days, or at most a modest charge, not price-gouging your customers. Breakfast was fair, but overpriced and there did not seem to be an option for a simple breakfast. I had expected rooms to be serviced, but apparently that is not part of the deal at Mantra.

Review 110:Great spot for a holiday, restaurants, beaches.

Review 111:It was great to re-visit Kingscliff. I loved how close to the beach you are, really enjoyed the apartment, spa was relaxing - and thought breakfast was yummy. Staff very friendly too. Well done guys!!

Review 112:Fridge's freezer did not work. Line up to register at Reception was long and took ages.

Review 113:Awesome location. Loved it. Fairly good value for money. Will probably go back again.

Review 114:The spa in the tropical pool area was green and stinky and had a million bugs in it , so we couldnt have a spa the whole time , and that was the main thing i was looking for when searching for hotels

Review 115:Overall stay was quite good

Review 116:Very large resort, little bit lacking in atmosphere, and we got lost a few times finding our room, reminded me of a private hospital...

Review 117:Near beach and Salt Bar which are great, nice sea breeze and you can hear the ocean at night which is nice. Lots of great resturants nearby. Rooms are well appointed and clean and tidy, staff were nice and friendly/helpful.

Review 118:Wifi should be free. It's not acceptable when you're paying $300 plus a night that wifi is not included.

Review 119:Nice room with great facilities. Pool setting is gorgeous and coffee at the bar was really good.

Review 120:We were given a room overlooking a vacant block of land at the back - a long way to walk to main reception

Review 121:Restaurants attached to the resort - thai & fins restaurant had great food

Review 122:the room smelled of wet carpet so we had to keep the windows open even though it was cold. movies were super expensive

Review 123:the bed the staff the location facilities

Review 124:Paid extra for "Ocean View" which was really disappointing due to nature strip between beach to talk to see anything but a thin line of water on horizon. Secure parking gate not closed first day and no parking spaces left second day.

Review 125:Clean rooms, staff were friendly and reception desk manned 24/7

Review 126:Lady on reception did not eplain thoroughly where our room was situated. Walked a mile to find it in wing 6. As far from carpark as possible. 3 trips with luggage Only 2 elevators in whole place. Faded art work in room looked terrible.

Review 127:Price & comfortable bed. Good kitchen facilities.

Review 128:Clean, inviting balcony view of ocean. Loved the heated pool outside. Able to lap swim. The great presentation of the main pool side. Bike facilities, courtesy car hire for future. Relaxing bathtub. Thankyou Mantra.

Review 129:Room on 3rd floor was good but facing south, a better room would have been facing north so I could have breakfast in the sun. But in the summer, the shade may have suited better?

Review 130:Just a beautiful complex

Review 131:Found the bed a little too soft and better pillows would be good.

Review 132:Everything was great and the service was excellent. The girls on Reception were very accommodating when I asked for a room change. We will be back..

Review 133:I was disturbed by loud music on Friday night. I don't know where it was coming from, maybe there was a function? It stopped around midnight!!!

Review 134:Good facilities in suite and great view.

Review 135:Room booking & request for twin single with late check in made 2 weeks in advance. Booked in at 8pm & arrived at room to find very small room with only one bed. Staff then came to separate beds which were still so close to each other that my work colleague & I couldn't get out of one side of our beds at the same time.

Review 136:The tv would lock in for 1 min after turning on to the movie adverts meaning you could not turn down the volume! Grrr Our room was the furthest point from the reception. Maintenance was underway on the pool deck and general painting

Review 137:Helpful staff, good trolleys for baggage, good tennis court & bike hire. Great cafés & shops in the immediate areas.
