Reviews for Angsana Bintan

Review 1:Breakfast buffet was ok and the drinks prices were fairly high

Review 2:Proximity to the beautiful private beach, amazing destination dining on the beach, excellent swimming pool and staff were very attentive

Review 3:Food is more than disappointing at outrageous prices, leveraging on the fact it is very difficult to move out of the resort. Typical "trap price". It's quite upsetting to see that to eat decent food, one has to spend as much as Michelin-starred restaurants in Hong Kong or Singapore! We have left half of our plates several times at the main restaurant of the facility, either because it was too spicy (for dishes indicated as non-spicy) or just plain not good. Bread is particularly awful, like several days old, so sandwiches are a no go. Though the facilities are nice, they are not particularly well managed, and wear and tear is quite apparent. This is not acceptable at this price range for Indonesia. Cleaning could be better, the bathtub was yellow and had piles of hair from previous tenants when we arrived. The water for the bath was also yellow, but we'll pass on this one. It is not like we should expect 4 star resorts to have filtering systems or well-maintained water boilers...

Review 4:The resort location and facilities are quite good and the staff very friendly, particularly with young children. The hotel is right on the beach with stunning views. The kids club and activities are great. Our son particularly liked the pond of baby turtles.

Review 5:The internet connection is really worst and disappointing. Upload and download speed less than 1mb

Review 6:Staff are friendly and the beach is clean. The food is nice.

Review 7:A lot of used tableware (dirt) around deck and beach bar in the morning

Review 8:I like this hotel because they had private beach but the beach not too clean. They had great breakfast buffet menu with variety fruits and granola, best for vegans

Review 9:check-in and check out takes way too long. We told staff we were in a hurry but they were taking their own sweet time. also they did not want to help us change our ferry confirmation even though they had internet access and could call local numbers.

Review 10:While the beach was kept clean by the staff, there was some "tar" (actually an oil spill I think) in the water. Walking on the beach, I got this on my feet a couple of times and it was rather unpleasant. I do however appreciate that this is not the fault of the hotel.

Review 11:Wonderful friendly staff. All rooms face on to the beach and have good views.

Review 12:Room is pretty tired and old. Could do with more updated accessories.

Review 13:The "back to nature" feel and the conservation efforts by the Banyan Tree Group!

Review 14:Fabulous, friendly staff with excellent service standards. Facilities are nice, beach is good and pool is awesome. We loved our bike tour with Benni and our couple's massage! We considered Bali, but given our limited stay (2 nights) opted for Bintan and have no regrets.

Review 15:Menu's were lacking imagination , and very expensive The haze was particularly heavy which added to the overall dismal feeling Also only 30 rooms were occupied so the whole place lackedl atmosphere

Review 16:The hotel is located to a building site which operated 7 days a week and is very intrusive

Review 17:The facility looks a bit old

Review 18:Various programs/activities available for free and the hotel is doing a lot for conservation of environment and support for local communities

Review 19:We did not like the crazy prices for food, even room service basic sandwich or basic fried rice is so expensive! The location is isolated and there are no other options for food so the hotel knows you have to pay these crazy prices or else go hungry. Not fair taking advantage of us in that way and leaves a negative memory of the stay there. $10 USD for a can of sprite? Shame on you Angsana.

Review 20:We liked the kids club and the child friendly layout

Review 21:everything! it was very expensive for what we were expected. We travel everywhere in Asia, and it's the first time that the quality is not here for what you pay. no commun sens from the staff, lack of information, food very expensive and not good quality ( we went to banyan tree) for the same price was very good. room small and very noisy and bed not comfy. I really don't recommend this hotel, cause the pictures on booking is absolutely not what you expect. very disappointed. we don't mind to pay if the quality is here, but was clearly not the case.

Review 22:The beach that it!

Review 23:We felt it was supposed to be a 10/10 holiday but was closer to an 8/10 as the cost of most things was very high

Review 24:It was nice and peacful and the staff were always helpful

Review 25:The resort needs a facial lift, it's a bite old. There is nothing much to do and no animation going on during the day and at night. The food is note good if you go for a western choice, better pick local dishes. On top of this it is very expensive! The resort is overrated !

Review 26:The beach is perfect, the sand is clean and the water is transparent. The staff is quite ok but the service could be better.

Review 27:Horrible value for money. Room is average - tired with an old loud air conditioner. Bed and pillows not very comfortably. Food and drinks unbelievably expensive (SGD 13 for a can of Bintang?!). For the same money or less, we could have a modern pool villa in Seminyak.

Review 28:Liked the location - it's on a lovely beach and has a nice pool. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Review 29:Upgraded from Deluxe Room with sofa bed to One Bedroom Suite and need to pay for extra bed. I was told that no change in room price but did not explain during check-in that extra bed is chargeable until realized at check-out.

Review 30:Rooms are near the beach & pool.

Review 31:The hotelrooms look a bit worn down. In the bathroom was a very annoying constant noise. On entering the children playclub, we immediately turned around and left, because of the smell. Also around the hotel, it was sometines quite smelly! Sewer? The prices for dinners are ridiculous!! We got a side dish of exactly 3 (!) asparagus for a fortune!!

Review 32:The beach is clean, the bay is beautiful , staff is very friendly

Review 33:We find it a bit overpriced, which makes you be more aware of what you choose.

Review 34:The place is great. I would really recommend it as a getaway or a short vacation. Great food and service and the Saturday BBQ is amazing. Great activities (some are free) and the beach is clean. Staff is very pleasant and helpful.

Review 35:We had to cut short our visit due to some personal reason and only came to know late afternoon. The staff was very understanding and did not charge us for the extra day. Overall, excellent staff, service and the fact that you can also use the restaurants in the neighbouring resorts

Review 36:The facilities seemed a bit old, and I did not think it was a good value for money. The breakfast was very limited and not so great. The restaurants in the hotel are RIDICULOUSLY expensive. I would not visit again.

Review 37:The staff was nice and helpful. The beach was beautiful.

Review 38:Ice bucket without ice

Review 39:Superior room to suite, maybe coz we booked dining on the rock. Romantic arranagement with premium price. Buffet breakfast is good

Review 40:Hotel decor ready for a bit of TLC especially the bathrooms. Staff sometimes a bit slow to deal with orders.

Review 41:Wonderful beach with lovely sand and seldom busy. Local good and menus very good.

Review 42:Rooms are a bit dated and could be a bit cleaner Food and drink very expensove

Review 43:Lovely welcoming staff Great beach Good food at the beach bar Lots of activities

Review 44:I thought the pricing of meals is quite steep, esp when they are charge in usd. I spent sometime playing table tennis and pool. The bat and cue were quite wore out. In my room, me and my kids were beaten by bed bugs.

Review 45:Were pleasantly surprise to receive 2 birthday cake cos my wife and daughter birthday fall during the stay. The beach is very nice and pool is just doorstep away.

Review 46:Too many mosquito and we got bite by them serioulsly. Need to see doctor. Food is very slow in the restaurant. The shuttle bus schedule is not good enough.

Review 47:Nice set up in the room, bed is comfortable.

Review 48:The whole place was infested with insects. The resort was very badly lighted. The room was very ordinary as there was nothing exceptional about it compared to the premium price that we paid. Food in general was bad but extremely expensive with bad presentation and sub standard quality. Even the restaurants were full of flies and mosquitoes. Breakfast spread was horrible as food was stale and some even spoilt. Very bad experience and simply waste of money and time. My worst holiday experience in Bintan (I have stayed in many resorts in Bintan including Banyan Tree). Everything was expensive without any class or glamour. Feel very short changed. I will not return to this resort or recommend this to anyone.

Review 49:The staff were friendly and the spa was fine but not excellent.

Review 50:Thus holiday was a gift for my son: I prepaid a voucher for food and bass age, the voucher was delivered only the second day. And the surprise spoiled because I had to call the hotel and take actions to have the voucher delivered. Poor service at the front desk and little coordination from the main office in Singapore and the Bi tan resort.

Review 51:My son and wife enjoyed the room and the service at the table and generally during their stay the restaurant personnel was efficient and very kind.

Review 52:Not so much - the hotel is not very new so don't expect extremely modern bathroom, beds etc.

Review 53:Friendly staff, great location (on a stunning beach), a lot of different activities (thanks to activity manager Benni)

Review 54:Service was so slow and poor in general as per price offered Food for breakfast disappearing too fast and not being replenished. Staff not trained at service

Review 55:Location

Review 56:The whole hotel needs renovation as the facilities are very old.

Review 57:Staff are well trained and very welcoming/accommodating! Also, the resort itself was the perfect size to have a quiet vacation unlike the other resorts in Bintan which are too huge and crowded.

Review 58:Our room was pretty much the furthest one away from reception. It didn't seem full capacity at the time, so I'm not sure why we were put there.

Review 59:Lots of space in the room. Great activities for the kids.

Review 60:old rooms need renovation and need more cleaning Staff unfriendly who wanted to overcharge us upon check out Restaurants: better eat at Banyan Tree

Review 61:Breakfast Beach Swimming pool

Review 62:very expensive food and beverage! too late check in, we were just on the beach while waiting for 4 hours until 3pm! we were already too sticky when we were finally able to checkin.

Review 63:nice room, the complimentary water was given 2x in a day, nice shoreline

Review 64:The room was extremely disappointing, very very tired and dated for the price I paid for the room. I was very disappointed.

Review 65:The staff make this place, there were great.

Review 66:The hotel rooms needs a facelift, for the price. Also to get to rooms was inconvenient, felt like it was a long walk.

Review 67:The spa was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 68:There should be more Indonesian dishes on the menu rather than such a mix of Asian and Western dishes

Review 69:The beach is really beautiful and efforts are made throughout the day to keep it clean The spa and the treatments on offer All rooms have balconies The swimming pool is very nice

Review 70:The rooms did not live up to the price that we were paying. The sofas were filthy. The blinds were half fallen off the window. The bathroom had rust and mold. Needs to have a major reno to justify the price. Couldn't even enjoy the beach, you would get oil blobs all over your feet and swimsuits. Food was expensive as well. At the breakfast buffet, there were fruit flies crawling all over the fruit. Cleanliness was a huge issue.

Review 71:The staff was nice and helpful. They tried to resolve the issues.

Review 72:Prices of rooms and meals were high considering the state of the facilities and quality of the food. Local cuisine was to the mark, but other fare needs to be improved. Pse Keep muesli and other dairy products chilled!

Review 73:Staff courtesy, service and attention was excellent. Facilities were a bit dated but overall quaint and comfortable.

Review 74:Almost nothing. Read about the pricy USD menu, so was expected. Only once dining at the Lotus restaurant, that they had to redo my dish 3rd time to get it right, it was a long wait especially with a toddler in tow, but still, that didn't bother me too much. Lastly, I do wish the baby cot comes with more cushioning than just a layer of sheets.

Review 75:Absolutely THEIR STAFF makes the difference, that makes my 5th Bintan stay such a positive one. Their friendliness and down-to-details are noteworthy of. And of course, their beautiful clean private beach and the hotel was not over crowding like others. Thank you for the complimentary birthday cake for my hubby, the bed deco and atmosphere nearly well up his eyes. Thank you Angsana! Will definitely be back again!

Review 76:Food & drinks were a bit over priced.. The bar & grill on the beach closed at 1030pm! C'mon Angsana, the night just started.

Review 77:We were there for one night only and felt like we were there for a few days. Totally laidback and disconected from everything. The pool, beach, and Spa were great (had a full massage for over an hour for $60).

Review 78:I think the price was a little high for off season and the hotel did need a little bit of a freshen up.

Review 79:Loved the staff, everyone was so friendly. The SPA was magnificent The Beach and lounge facilities were perfect Never been to a place before where you can almost sit right on the beach and have a beer - it was great and I will really go again.

Review 80:We have asked their staffs for 3 times to get the in-room breakfast form. At the first 2 times they inform us will deliver to our room, end up no show up. At the third times, their staffs finally instruct us the form is located at one of the draw at our bedroom. Why they are not telling us at the first times we call?? The swimming pool is quite small

Review 81:The size for 2 Bedroom suite are large and my kids have enough space to play around.

Review 82:They were doing construction down the road, so the constant banging was a bit annoying.

Review 83:Pool facilities were wonderful. You can walk right down to the beach if you want a change of scenary

Review 84:thought the prices of food and beverages were kind of steep. But of course, if there's budget constraint, I would suggest driving out to the local areas for cheap and good food.

Review 85:Staff are all very attentive, friendly and helpful. The 2 suites we stayed in are well-maintained, spacious and I simply love the beds and pillows! Benjamin, Benny and Luki really made our stay there super comfortable and memorable.

Review 86:The food quality (breakfast) is like a 2-3 star. Not to mention my boy tasted an old dragon fruit and had to spill it out. We can't go to the beach as there was tar during our stay. The toilet in my friend's room was not clean though I know it was an old hotel. But it was even below our expectation - There was hair in the bath tub and the water can't go down properly after our friends waiting more than three hours for a room. Their compensation is just to upgrade their room to delux from superior after my friends went through all these unhappiness and have to go through the hassle to change to another room. To be honest, with a price near 300USD per night, they should do more than just upgrade to delux room, a room that I will give a price no more than USD150. I feel bad as it's me suggest our stay in Agnsana. I tried to fight more compensation for our friends like big dicount of massage as their stay apprently was not nice. Unfortunately they are very stingy as a "4" star hotel. Pantai grill was v good 4 years ago but the food quality of Pantai Grill also went down. I know it's an old hotel before I came and I know the room was overcharged. But I was exited about the nice beach and pantai grill. But all of them disappointed me this time. I feel really bad for my friends.

Review 87:We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. Hotel present an impressive room decoration and birthday cake. Staff were very helpful and accomodating. Especially Dahlina. She walked to the bus during our departure and told us to visit here again which we will eventually.

Review 88:Long wait for check in and the room was so faraway it was just insane how long I had to walk to get into my room. The rooms need a renovation.

Review 89:Amazing breakfast & Swimming Pool

Review 90:Rooms furniture and accessories nedeed to be renewed. Very high prices for food in restaurants

Review 91:Very comfortable and quiet place. Great beach and sea! Practically no people on the beach or near the pool. Easy to be reached from Singapore by 1 hour ferry jorney. Free transfer from and to the ferry terminal ( around 15 minutes). Helpfull and welcome staff. Good breakfasts. Everything was wonderful and we had a great time. Will definetly return here during my next trip to Singapore

Review 92:Prices were high so maybe a longer happy hour.

Review 93:Staff particularly Benny by the pool who was a great help and super friendly. The beach and cocktails were great too.

Review 94:Very expensive, rooms are a bit old, no facilities after 11pm, extremely bad wi-fi (would be better if paid but good), small amount of oil on the beach

Review 95:Perfect service, warm and beautifull ocean, good food, good transportation system (buggy cars), amazing golf fields, good spa

Review 96:Bathrooms tired Horrible orange colour scheme in suites Entrance dull and not very Inonesian in feel

Review 97:Great pool Great beach Great breakfast buffet Great spa treatment

Review 98:The prices for food and particularly drinks are too high. An local beer for 7 or more USD is not appropriate. The internet connection is too slow and not really usable - this service need to be improved !

Review 99:The beach is beautiful, the stuff is very friendly and the food is excellent! Thank you !

Review 100:No air conditioning where you eat breakfast, it is hot...

Review 101:The rooms are dated but great...you have to remember just where you are. All rooms have. A good view. Pool nice and staff very accommodating . The staff try to make everyone very comfortable

Review 102:Quite expensive. Far away from any local villages.

Review 103:Very convenient transfer from Singapore. Really nice spa. Private beach with clean water. Very quiet during the weekdays. Excellent staff.

Review 104:Food is really to expensive by local, European and US standard. We had to restrict to the bare minimum ou consumption to avoid blowing up the bill at this end. This is nonsense, the hotel would be generating more money eventually if prices were a tad more affordable

Review 105:Overall good location, very kind staff

Review 106:Many of the rooms are a long walk from the reception and they are quite old and could use an upgrade to match the rates. Average breakfast and we had to ask for everything (plates, cutlery, several items had run out.) The food at their beach restaurant was overpriced and not very good. We visited the Nirwana nearby and it had far more activities for kids, a better beach and more reasonable rates. If you can, go to the Angsana Laguna in Phuket as it is in a different league and far better value

Review 107:Nice pool and beach

Review 108:Food taste could have been better

Review 109:We got upgraded to Banyan Tree Sea View Villa They surprised us with a birthday cake for my belated birthday They let us check in early

Review 110:The air condition was not running well the night we stayed in. But their prompt service to fix it the next morning was great.

Review 111:Staff was extremely friendly and nice. Bed was great too.

Review 112:I would not recommend going to Bintan at all, it is convenient from Singapore but prices are extremely high for what you get (accomodation, food, etc.). Rather take a short flight somewhere really nice and safe money on hotel, food etc.

Review 113:The bed and pillows were stone hard. Not at all comfortable. It was the reason that although we had to pay for our final night we left early

Review 114:Limited variety for the breakfast buffet

Review 115:The hospitality of the staff

Review 116:The buffet breakfast spread was dismal.

Review 117:The staff were very courteous and efficient. They responded to all our requests in a timely manner.

Review 118:Varieties of food, no pub, some electric appliances are not working well and worst of all hate the mosquitos badly

Review 119:Good beaches n very friendly staff

Review 120:Food is too expensive.

Review 121:the hotel room is not delicate or cozy, or clean and the price for good or spa is very high.

Review 122:the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful

Review 123:Very average stay

Review 124:the 2nd time to spend my vacation here, everything just as prefect as prior enjoyed and expected.

Review 125:the location

Review 126:The food at the beach

Review 127:The spa

Review 128:No hot water in room. Had to ask 3 times to get it fixed. Room very average, but price expensive.

Review 129:Beach and beach restaurant.

Review 130:the aircon drips water at 22 on thermostat. Food is so expensive.

Review 131:the location, the beach is stunning, pool, hotel room.

Review 132:Value for money, food and drinks are outrageously overpriced

Review 133:Friendly staff

Review 134:Average breakfast with limited choices

Review 135:Beach,swimming pool ans restaurants for meals

Review 136:The mold and mildew in the room and on the baby cot!!!!

Review 137:The amenities and facilities of the hotel

Review 138:We realised that spending a bit more could get us away to a nicer place.

Review 139:The place is serene and nice for a getaway.
