Review 10:It was a pity it rained
Review 11:The propreiotor went out of his way to give us a room with a splendid view of the castle and Monestery. We also had good friendly advice for our stay
Review 12:Pino, the owner, went above and beyond to share his knowledge and passion of the World War II batlles of Montecassino. Staff was great. And overall lifetime memory!
Review 13:Quite a traditional hotel which would benefit from some renovation. Balcony feels insecure for young children. Neighbourhood felt a little bit unwelcoming at night.
Review 14:Impressive view of the abbey and hillsides of Cassino; friendly staff; thought provoking display and information about the battle of Cassino; proximity to the centre of town; easy parking.
Review 15:breakfast, although fresh and plentiful was also quite limited, sometimes ran out of specific items especially the non sweet things like plain croissants
Review 16:Friendly Family Hotel, staff extremely helpful. Maria on Reception and breakfast was really great, friendly, smiling and very helpful. Free Wifi was great for our 13 year old son.
Review 17:We had a large comfortable room with a big bathroom and a lovely view of the mountain. Friendly staff. Easy parking either in street in front of hotel or at the back of hotel. Good advice on where to visit. Ideal place to stay if purpose is to visit the battlefields. Excellent value.
Review 18:Excellent accommodation for those interested in history. The owner is always there to share his knowledge about the Monte Cassino battlefield and recommend the best hiking trails. He is a great man, very kind and really helpful.
Review 19:Great welcome and information about Monte Cassino. We were travelling to follow a family history in the battle for the Abbey in WW2. The hotel owner was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Review 20:Nicely decorated with a pleasant ambiance. The owner and staff were very friendly and service was always with a smile. I appreciated how they accommodated our family of 6. I would definitely go back.
Review 21:From check in to check out every need was attended to. Monte Casino's presence could be felt throughout my stay, my room looking out at it and Castle Hill. Mr Hotel La Pace (Pino), ensured I made full advantage of my stay with great advice, going as far as taking me to the southern approaches from where the allied commanders viewed the battlefield, ciao Pino!.
Review 22:Not a criticism of the hotel but Cassino itself was run down and lacked good eating places.
Review 23:It was so relaxed and friendly, all on first name terms. The proprietor was an excellent tour guide and was so very patient with a group of oldies. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Pino Valente is exceptional.
Review 24:The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the events in the city duty WWII. It was close to the freeway, had breakfast included and A casual pizza place in the building for a late arrival dinner. Perfect. Wish we could have stayed another night.
Review 25:Good hotel we used as a overnight stopping point while travelling through Italy & so we could visit Monte Cassino. The Hotel proprietor has great knowledge regarding local history & happy to spend his time providing information.
Review 26:The proprietor of La Pace was very welcoming, particularly when he learned we were retracing our father's path through Italy. He was very helpful to us, and I would recommend this property to anyone on a similar journey of discovery. Our rooms had a beautiful view of the mountain and the Abbey. Also easy parking in the courtyard of the hotel.
Review 27:On arrival had the hotel I was made very welcome and given helpful advice on visiting the surrounding areas of Cassino. The hotel room was very clean along with the public areas and served an ample breakfast in a pleasant dining area. Situated in a queit part of the town it is only a relatively short walk to the centre with it`s many bars, cafes, shops and bus stop for reaching Montecassino Abbey
Review 28:There was nothing negative to say about the Hotel Ladies Pace
Review 29:This hotel was convenient to everything. The owner, Pino Valente + the staff treated myself + family so warmly + did everything to ensure our stay at their hotel would be a pleasant + memorable visit. I would highly recommend this hotel everyone. 10 out of 10. Thank you so much Pino!
Review 30:All the staff were extremely helpful, lending us maps, advising us on routes. As we left to walk up the hill, the owner came chasing after us, just to say not to worry about the low cloud, the sun would burn through within the hour. (It did.) We felt cared for.
Review 31:Pino and his staff could not do enough for us during or search for a family member who died in the battle of Monte Cassino. Pino has a wealth of knowledge which he is more than happy to share with visitors. The hotel reflects Pino's attention to detail and is a credit to him and his staff. He arranged transport for us to reach the various sites and even transported us himself which was much appreciated. The rooms we had a magnificent view of the monastery and were very much part of the story. It is the perfect hotel if you are interested in the history of Monte Cassino during the second World War.
Review 32:The staff were amazing, and the hotel owner went above and beyond anything we could ever have emagined, nothing was too much trouble! The owners knowledge of the area and the history was incredible with undoubted passion and enthusiasm shared! If you are going to Cassino with a desire to know about the battles and history, I can not recommend this hotel enough.
Review 33:Parking was readily available in front of hotel. Beware of blue parking lines in town centre. Got a 40 euro ticket!
Review 34:Montecassino Abbey is a 10 km drive up hairpin turns but easily visible from the hotel. It's a family-run hotel with an adjacent restaurant...pizza was great.
Review 35:Not staying longer!
Review 36:The service staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, and spoke English which helped us immensely. I requested a room with a view of the abbey - and got so much more than I expected. ...but one cannot omit to give a favourable "two thumbs up" to Pino the owner - this exceptional fellow extended himself to come into the "office" out of schedule to connect with us as he heard of our interest in the WWII history of Cassino. He is knowledgeable and passionate about sharing this history, and generous...he gave me a book on the subject! I get the feeling I will be back at La Pace to see him again as we are researching my father's involvement with the NZ Division. La Pace was the place for us, comfortable, affordable, well located near the centre of town, and very friendly.
Review 37:Ou room was large with ample room to move about...a feature that I always appreciate when traveling. The room had a balcony & we had a spot-on view of Monte Cassino. All staff members were friendly, out-going people who certainly loved being in the hospitality business. Breakfast was ample. WWII artifacts are displayed in the lobby. I became mesmerized reading the literature & books about the history of the town and the people who were part of the tragic events that took place here. I will return to Cassino someday and will stay at Hotel La Pace.
Review 38:Wi-Fi reception in the room was poor.
Review 39:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Large room and balcony with great view of Monte Cassino Abbey. Off street parking. Walking distance to downtown restaurants. Knowledge and artifacts in lobby of WWII battles in the area.
Review 40:poor access to public transport
Review 41:the view of Monte Cassino from the bedroom. The suggestions of the owner related to our visit to this historical site . Excellent breakfast.
Review 42:My husband is fanatical about WW11. We chose this hotel because of the comments made by other people on Pino's knowledge and enthusiasm. We were not disappointed . His hospitality was impressive too. He took us to the Commonwealth cemetary by car, showed us a video and gave us supper whilst we watched it. He also gave us lots of help to get the most out of our two days in Cassino.
Review 43:We really enjoyed our stay at this Hotel, the owner invited us for an evening drink and was extremely helpful with the war history which was the primary reason for our visit and he even provided us with maps and loads of local information .
Review 44:Everything was good
Review 45:Our room had a balcony looking out over Castle Hill and the monastry at the top of Montecassino. Comfortable beds, adequate breakfast. Good value for the price. All staff very friendly and speak good English. The major benefit of this hotel is the manager, Pino's , interest and knowledge about the battles for Cassino and the effects on the town and surrounding area. Pino has laminated maps showing a walking route to the top of Montecassino and videos in English about the WW2 battles. Very worthwhile couple of days
Review 46:The hotel is in an excellent position, with stunning views of the monastery. The owner of this hotel and all the staff are very helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them. I will definitely stay at the hotel La pace again and would strongly recommend this hotel to others.
Review 47:Rooms were very dirty when we arrived, but it seems that the reservation was not registred or something. One of our rooms was very dirty and kinda old. But the 2nd room we reserved was more than beautiful and clean. Maybe there was some mixup on the registration. Mix-ups happen
Review 48:We came to see Montecassino and visit sanctuary. Location is very very good, staff was very good (lady on reception is very nice and she was more than helpful) Wi-Fi, Parking, Breakfast, Lobby, everything was more than good, but on the other side... what I didn't like was rooms.
Review 49:We received a very warm welcome. The receptionist was exceptional in providing great advice to enable us to visit Monte Cassino Abbey, ( bus times, maps, restaurant recommendations etc). The manager was a fount of knowledge on the WW2 battlefield. This is definitely the place to stay if your reason to visit Cassino is to explore the area or visit war graves. Good breakfast. Great view of the abbey from our balcony.
Review 50:There is nothing wrong with Hotel LA Pace
Review 51:Friendly helpful staff plus the owner has a considerable knowledge of the WW11 history and is generous with his time with us. The location is a short walk to town. Parking at the back.
Review 52:We just stayed for one night in September as we were travelling elsewhere but we wanted to visit the Montecassino Abbey. We booked this due to its reasonable price and it's good reviews. It turned out to be just what we needed for our quick stop. We arrived in the evening and the gentleman on reception was really friendly and helpful. Our Italian is pretty useless but luckily this chap was fluent in English and told us what we needed to know. The room itself was comfortable, if slightly dated. There was a fridge which had a couple of bottles of water in it, but we didn't need them as we had our own. (Shame there was no kettle for us English tea addicts but that's just our personal preference). The bathroom was very roomy and the shower was powerful and clean and toiletries were provided. The bed was comfy. The view was a bit rubbish, we could see into someone else's room so we kept the curtains shut but we weren't there for long so it wasn't an issue for us. There was a good choice for breakfast and gave us the start we needed for the abbey visit. There was a bit of confusion between us and the person serving us as our Italian hadn't gotten better over night and the person serving us didn't speak much English but it was still a good set up and good value for money. We checked out with the same person who checked us in and he gave us a lot of help and advice regarding visiting the abbey. We had no complaints with our stay whatsoever.
Review 53:Room needs a little renovation as does the stairwell etc but generally clean.
Review 54:Nice big room with a lovely view of the Abbey (not all rooms get this). Very good breakfast. Good recommendations for local restaurants. Off-street parking. Easy driving distance to the Abbey.
Review 55:Lovely staff - friendly and helpful. They made our stay very enjoyable, and Pino was very helpful in giving us advice on walking from the hotel to the Abbey following some of the old Roman trails. A long walk but well worth the effort. As other reviews have noted, he was a mine of information about the local war history and provided a small library of related books (in English) for guests to access. Our room had an excellent view of the Abbey (thanks Pino). Breakfast was plentiful and varied.
Review 56:toilets on the ground floor public area could do with an upgrade.
Review 57:Best single thing about this hotel is the friendliness of the staff and their ability to meet the guests needs. Its about 1 km from the train station and handy for several recommended restaurants.
Review 58:The hotel is owner run and gives a level of service not found in national chains of hotels. Pino and his staff are knowlegable, friendly and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable and some have balconies The hotel has views of the Abbey which are truly stunning and within walking distance of the main shops, bars and restaurants. It is Pino's historical knowledge though that truly sets this hotel apart as the town was 100% destroyed during the war. Can recommend staying at this hotel whether you are a single traveller or a large family. We will be returning...
Review 59:Fairly busy road Slightly tired decor
Review 60:Room balcony with a view of Monte Cassino Very helpful and knowledgeable staff 10 minute walk into town centre
Review 61:Centrally located, fantastic view of Montecassino. Large room, comletely furnished bathroom. Quite big breakfast (as for Italy, of course) Friendly and helpful Staff, especially Mr. Pino, who's "the walking encyclopaedia" of the Battle.
Review 62:The hotel is centrally located and from the bedrooms there are fantastic views of the Abbey at Montecassino. Check in was smooth and the rooms were large with a nice size bathroom with a complete shower. Breakfast was plentiful with many choices. Lobby is full of WW2 memorabilia and is very interesting. Parking is available at no cost. Within walking distance is a great family restaurant "Il Cantana" which was inexpensive and fantastic. Most of all, Pino is there to make your stay in Cassino a memorable one.
Review 63:Nothing
Review 64:We arrived late afternoon and with the information given to us at the hotel we were able to go and see almost everything that same day. Personal attention was great. We were interested in the history especially of the New Zealand involvement during the battle of Cassino. It was a perfect place to stay, loved the room with the view of Monte Cassino. Had a lovely meal in the adjoining restaurant.
Review 65:Breakfast very average and the restaurant was quite frankly poor.
Review 66:Very personable staff, the young Spanish receptionist was very helpful and explained i. Detail how to get to see the Abbey and other sites. Shame about the food it let's an otherwise lovely hotel down.
Review 67:Location, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, clean room with terrific view of Montecassino abbey from balcony. Close to good restaurants and parking available.
Review 68:There is not one thing I could say about this hotel that I didn't like
Review 69:We could not have wished for a better stay , Pino was such a great host , he really went out of his way to make sure that our stay was one not to forget , he arranged a tour with Dami that was incredible . These two guys are so passionate in what they do it was infectious . Thank you Pino and Dami .
Review 70:The only thing I would recommend is a little better drain on the shower. It couldn't be on very long without filling up.
Review 71:I liked the friendliness of the staff and their helpfulness in answering questions and inquiries. I liked the cleanliness of the room, and the comfort of the bed. I like the hotel restaurant - I had a delicious meal of bucatini all amatriciana, shaved steak with mushrooms topped with a sweet balsamic sauce and fresh arugula and a beautiful salad freshly made. I loved the view from my window, of the abbey of Montecassino and the Rocca Janula. The honor has a great interest in the Battle of Cassino and was offering help and information in walking the Cavendish Road behind and above the abbey.
Review 72:The hotel was comfortable. If there was one deficiency, it was that one could hear street traffic from our room.
Review 73:The great thing about this hotel is its staff, particulary the manager, Pino. He is enthusiastic and authoritative on the history of Montecassino and the WWII battle fought for it. That was the purpose of our trip and the hotel played a big part in helping us learn about the historic site. The hotel has a channel dedicated to that history. Nice breakfast. Great view of Montecassino Abbey from our room.
Review 74:Nothing really !
Review 75:The reason why anyone would stop at Cassino would be to visit the amazing Abbey / monastery. beautifully restored after being destroyed ( 4 times ! including the allied bombing and shelling during the fighting there in 1944 )-also the hilly area around the Abbey, where the battle took place . The Hotel La Pace is well placed to do all of this, an unpretentious hotel, with very pleasant and helpful staff, a cheeky little parking area at the back, which was very helpful, and an interesting display of wartime memorabilia to have a look at. The hotel owner, Pino, is a really nice man and a bit of a philosopher. Aside from sporting an impressive array of his son's football trophies, Pino is really knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the battle, and keen to share what he knows with anyone visiting who is intending to go and have a look. Although our only quibble was that the breakfast was maybe a bit on the slim side ( the odd bit of cake or sticky croissant being about it ) we would unhesitatingly give this a 9 out of 10, and anyone staying in Cassino should definitely stay there
Review 76:Pino the owner is the best hoast!
