Reviews for Mayang Sari Beach Resort

Review 1:Facilities are a bit worn, but still clean. Any extras are outrageously priced. Food and drinks on-site are on par with Sungapore costs. Not what you'd expect of Indonesia.

Review 2:Rustic bungalows gave off a quaint feel unlike what you'd find at a big resort. Rooms were very spacious with authentic Indonesian feel. Very close to beach. Excellent spa facilities and service. Breakfast buffet was a highlight.

Review 3:A wasted trip to Lagoi Mall as the mall is not fully open. And to wait for the first return shuttle to the resort is 3 hours.

Review 4:All the staff are very friendly and polite. They would go an extra mile to look for us if we are late for an activity.

Review 5:Exhorbitant price of restaurants (coupled with mediocre quality despite the price) within the resort, and difficult to get out of the resort. Price of activities too high. Some tar on the beach, though it was kept very clean by staff.

Review 6:Beautiful empty beach. Nice breakfast. Very nice big room.

Review 7:The room is a bit noisy. I think it is because of the aircon. The price is expensive. There is no much indoor activities except for SPA which is expensive as well.

Review 8:The service of hotel is absolutely good. The stuff are nice and willing to help whenever we have inquiry. The location is great. Just by the beach.

Review 9:Things weren't working like lamps and service was slow when requesting for ice, towels etc. No coffee machine in working condition

Review 10:The seclusion and the staff

Review 11:Kinda of cosy place to stay just for 3D2N & hard to find food for kids. Mainly for adults taste bud... *I felt

Review 12:Best place to stay near to the beach where kids can play by the sea.

Review 13:There were some renovations being carried out, but overall very good, our bungalow was not close by the works. We hardly notice it.

Review 14:Super close to a amazing beach and an amazing Thai restaurant close by. All within walkable distance.

Review 15:Tour to main townsite and surrounds a waste of time, nothing to see. The number of plastic bottles washing ashore each morning - though picked up early by staff each day.

Review 16:Loved walking out from the bungalow and onto the beach. Peaceful and relaxing. No hawkers trying to sell things. Great little animal farm nearby. Options to dine at other resorts so good eateries around. Facilities for snorkelling cayaking etc. very friendly accommodating staff clean and comfortable.

Review 17:Renovation work (which was not advertised on the website for our date of visit) to the reception area. This spoilt some of the peace and tranquility we were expecting

Review 18:The peace and quiet of the beach location.

Review 19:The view from the bungalow. 40m away from the sea. Sea at 31 degrees. The access to the swiming pool of Nirwana hotel 10mn away by walk. Perfect place for people from singapore 1h ferry away.

Review 20:Everything was good but the alcohol prices were high.

Review 21:Loved the proximity to the beach and the ability to use the other facilities within the resort. The food outlets were great.

Review 22:We have to take a shuttle bus to Niwana resort to enjoy their facilities, a bit time consuming. Moreover, the cleanliness of rubbish bin in room needs to be improved.

Review 23:Peaceful and wonderful beach is just in front of our sea view room. Very relaxing. Like the buffet breakfast as well. The staff members are nice too.

Review 24:The kelong restaurant's staff's behaviour. Down right rude. Mayangsari is flawless.

Review 25:The beach chalets are so close to the beach! Outstanding view.

Review 26:No swimming pool but have access to the one from Nirwana.

Review 27:Very quiet and beautiful beach. Chalet are big and nicely decorated. Breakfast is nice. Restaurant has very good Indian and local food.

Review 28:I love the the proximity of the beach from my garden view chalet. The predictable 1/2hourly shuttle bus allowed us to plan on when to get to the pool!

Review 29:no comb in bathroom for women, no shaver for men, shuttle always not on time, end up waiting 35mins when it says it will come in 15mins, breakfast can improve, egg is not fried on the spot but all ready made, soup noodles as well, can improve quality of breakfast

Review 30:Quiet private beach, water very clear and clean, lots of water sports offered, elephants and mini zoo nearby, can even get close to elephants and sit on their thighs, really nice experience, complimentary shuttle service to plaza lagoi and ferry terminal, nice place and seaview, staff serve with an extra smile, staff speaks good english

Review 31:A perfect beach, firm sand, great for a 90 minute walk to the other end past the rocks. Excellent dinner menu, very decent breakfast buffet. Bintan doesn’t come cheap, expect Singapore prices but worth the money.

Review 32:All the activities are paying (30$ for a 2 hours snorkeling kit rentalis too expensive taking in count room fare). Not very informed about the restaurants and updates.

Review 33:The bed !!!The garden-view-room with a sea view. The size of the room. the beautiful, quiet and clean beach Everything.

Review 34:a poor quality price ratio - hotel should be ranked 3 stars max - would need a serious equipment and room refresh - average breakfast - poor wifi connexion and very high price for almost everything , the best example would be 130 USD for a 90 min massage! Come on, in Indonesia where massage has almost been invented !

Review 35:splendid view, nice people, 32 degrees water , good restaurants around - somewhat very expensive - but great food

Review 36:Only one bad experience. On arrival our room wasn't ready until 3 pm so while waiting I asked the restaurant staff if I could use a toilet. He sent me to a toilet that was flooded and out of order and could have directed me to the clean restaurant toilet which was nearby.

Review 37:Our room had a deck overlooking a lovely beach. Free rides to all the nearby resorts and large selection of activities which were great.Concierge and the staff that organised transport were excellent.

Review 38:None

Review 39:The staff was very kind, and the ocean view If u want to stay here, Ocean view !!!!!! wave sounds and stars in the sky and sunset We empressive about kind service from the manager, Sunmarno

Review 40:No coffee or tea facility in rooms

Review 41:The very helpful and attentive staff. Chef K an excellent cook..the breakfast buffets were enormous and with lots of choice fruits.

Review 42:Bit overprised in the weekends, so go there during the week if possible. The quality of the food at breakfast: there is room for improvement eg cheese

Review 43:Great choice of food at breakfast, gold quality of food in the spice restaurant (dinner), very friendly and helpful staff, nice beach with fine sand and enough sunbeds, large room with terrace with sea view (although it was a garden view room), great organization with transfer from/to ferry, Calypso cocktail bar is about 10 minutes walking but absolutely worth! Mayang Sari is one part of a big resort, so you can use the facilities in the other parts as well (pool ...)

Review 44:The tar situation is bad! Just a short stroll on the beach & I had to throw away my slippers. For USD340 per night, it's not worth the price, might as well go Bali where the beaches are alot nicer.

Review 45:Great for a short, hassle free get away. Quiet location with sea view and sun rise. Food quality at the kelong & Japanese restaurant was good but not cheap.

Review 46:its alot more expensive than it use to be and the hotel itself has not changed to compensate for the price increase.

Review 47:the staff are absolutely brilliant and did everything to make sure our stay was great and chef J. Kunalan was not only an amazing chef but also went and above to make sure everyone in the restaurant was always ok.

Review 48:Not bad experiences, but a few pointers: - Very basic villas, could do with safety locker and better storage options & a fridge in the room. - Restaurants are overpriced.

Review 49:Stayed in Garden chalet, but didn't miss out as it was quite close to beach. And the beach , sea with its crystal clear water and mild sea where you could walk way back into the sea and still not be fully submerged is the real USP of the place.

Review 50:The sea looked inviting but later found tar stuck to feet after going to play on the beach, but not the hotel's fault, as they have staff to clean up the beach in the mornings.

Review 51:Liked the fact that it is on the beach can hear waves before you sleep and once you awake.

Review 52:The wifi, even the upgrade to fast wifi did not help and very slow wifi. The explanation of the room and resorts by the staff, did not explain there is a safe, a button for warm water, a free shuttle, etc. So service could be better. Toilet was very old and smelly

Review 53:The big rooms, the quietness, not crowded, the location, the spa, the shuttle service between the other resorts and the restaurants. The thai restaurant is really excellent, walking distance of hotel, really perfect

Review 54:Extortionate prices at the restaurant, shop and the bar. Not very clean room for our taste .Not cozy : room decor uninspiring.

Review 55:Location very near the beach. Friendly staff. Breakfast buffet has a wide selection of foods.

Review 56:A simple 200 meter walk along from the adjacent beach next to the Nirwana resorts, we were shocked to find piles of plastic bottles, dirty plastic containers, plastic sheeting, plastic packets and globules of black tar both on the beach and in the sea. How any local could accept their native beaches in such a condition is beyond me. I fear that this will only get worse the more development that the island sees and the more shipping coming through the Singapore straits. There are some simple solutions to this: don't use plastic anymore - (use glass) and fine shipping companies that leak black oil right onto natural wildlife habitats. But nobody will listen - nobody will do anything until the world turns into looking like the surface of the moon, as long as everyone still has their shopping malls.

Review 57:A 2 night stay at this wonderfully located resort. Chalets very private with verandas looking out to sea. Beautiful beach - except for those beaches which were not immediately adjacent to the resort.

Review 58:There's nothing much at Pasar oleh-oleh nearby the resort. I would rather dine at the hotel itself.

Review 59:The resort was great. Food served was delicious. The view from the sea view chalet was fantastic and the rooms are only one minute away walk from the beach.Rooms compared to the pictures posted here was way better. Perfect for relaxation.

Review 60:The food around the resort was really bad! Lots of small balls of oil from the big boats land on the beach, then it gets stuck on bottom of your feet, not pleasant experience. The resort is very outdated. For this experience you end-up paying quite big bux.

Review 61:Very relaxing environment. Good service! Clean water on the first day, not on the second.

Review 62:Some of the public bathrooms could use a facelift and TLC.

Review 63:Mayang Sari is a gem of a resort. The beach is clean, quiet, and beautiful. Staff was friendly and willing to help in any way. We were able to get around by the internal transport system to eat at the other restaurants in the resort. Wonderful and restful. Just what we needed!

Review 64:Most of the hotel employee don't have attitude so welcoming..since we are local tourists. This is Indonesia. Please be nice toward all guests. Not only toward foreign tourists..

Review 65:The cleanliness and the view is good. I like it.

Review 66:In our last day, there were a few guests in the hotel. Therefore, they closed the restaurant of the hotel for dinner without prior notification. Although they provided a shuttle bus to their sister hotel, it was not a pleasant experience.

Review 67:The sea was brilliant, the room was clean, the stuff were helping.

Review 68:Child policy; 1,600 Baht for extra bed (child) is quite expensive.

Review 69:As our sole reason to come to Bintan was for Beach Holiday the hotel was perfect. The beach was clean and so was the whole place.

Review 70:They do not answer email.I wrote re postcards written and stamped to Aust. and NZ and never recieved. There was no answer. Also all the wine was very expensive and South African, no need for that

Review 71:It was our second visit we like the peace and the pace.

Review 72:We do not recommend this hotel.

Review 73:We do not recommend this place or other Nirwana facility. It is way too expensive for what it is. They keep you captive in the resort order to overcharge the guest. Price are double what we pay in singapore for similar facility and food. A week end in southern Indonesia, malaysia or Thailand from SG would be cheaper or equal in price including flight.

Review 74:Beautiful view and very close to the beach.

Review 75:Convenience to move about....planning to come back in February....

Review 76:not free for kid's breakfast.

Review 77:very friendly. food is good

Review 78:I feel comfortable because of th staff who always smiling Good place

Review 79:we enjoy a lot!very nine people and place!

Review 80:Overpriced for what you got. Indonesian standards of care and upkeep at Singapore prices. Poor wifi.

Review 81:Great location on a quiet sandy bay.

Review 82:Staff

Review 83:Relaxed atmosphere, excellent and friendly staff

Review 84:No pool and limited dining choices. And expensive for what it is.

Review 85:Peace, quiet, right on the beach. Perfect!

Review 86:power outage

Review 87:beach

Review 88:shop closes early coke in the restarant is expensive

Review 89:not crowded beautiful beach friendly staffs

Review 90:Quite expensive!

Review 91:We were in Dolphin 1 and Dolphin 3 and loved every second of our stay! Lot's of fun activities for all ages.

Review 92:close to beach just what you need to unwind and relax

Review 93:So far so good

Review 94:bad wifi signal

Review 95:near beach, good food and massage

Review 96:Oil sleak at the beach

Review 97:No WiFi

Review 98:Everything!

Review 99:Food and drinks a bit pricey but well worth it

Review 100:Relaxed atmosphere Lovely Beach Good food Great break from the hustle bustle of singapore

Review 101:The irregular timings of the bus.

Review 102:Proximity to the beach. Quietness of the surrounding. The staff were excellent in acceding to our request.

Review 103:NO

Review 104:feel good about the see view house and all the nice staff.

Review 105:Not enough beach towels

Review 106:The private beach. The friendly and helpful staffs.

Review 107:Ridiculously expensive pick up from the ferry terminal Beach is not so nice and the water is so dirty you just can't get in Bathroom hadn't been thoroughly cleaned when we arrived

Review 108:Maybe the important presence of ants in the rooms...and the average quality of the bathroom. One more negative aspect (the resort cannot do anything about it) is the daily oil staining of the beach. The staff tries to clean it twice every morning but human pollution like that is still regrettable...

Review 109:The staff at this resort was very polite and the service was outstanding. The location of our little beach house was perfect with a direct view on the beautiful beach. The room was big enough. The restaurants in the resort served excellent food.

Review 110:Unfortunatelly there was garbage and a little bit oil at the beach, that comes from the sea. But 2 times a day there were workers, that tried to clear. They collected the garbage to throw it away.

Review 111:We had a wonderful time at this resort. All rooms are near the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A lot of restaurants with good food, espacially the seafood restaurant!

Review 112:Jaded reception and restaurant, both really in need of a makeover as the first impressions they give to guests do not do justice to the lovely rooms and great staff. Singapore prices for food and drink which is crazy when you consider hotel overheads are a fraction of Singapore. Pool is in a different local resort. unfortunately the beach is dirty with oil washing up from sea.

Review 113:Staff were excellent. We were upgraded to a seaview room. Rooms were much nicer, more spacious and comfortable than we expected. Easy and free transfer to and from airport. Nice food in restaurant.

Review 114:We felt we were bit isolated -would have liked easy access to outside the resort. Singapore prices!!!!!

Review 115:We were upgraded to seaview chalet which was absolute paradise ,the view was exceptional. The whole resort is very well maintained with many food outlets and facilities.

Review 116:No dive club in the resort, and just forget about going to another resort that has a dive club. They do not work together. You are a captive customer, in the way that the north of Bintan is a privatized area just for some resorts (no inhabitants, nothing). This is positive as it is preserved for now (however Nirwana has huge expansion plans), but you have no way to escape and buy something outside Nirwana. Even for booking a taxi or an island tour you have to book though Nirwana. No bus to any city, nothing. So you pay everything the price they want you to pay. Thus, there are very good restaurants, nice bars, but at the price of Orchard Street in Singapore... (9 SGD / beer can) Keep in mind that there is purified water provided in the restaurants for free, do not feel obliged to buy an overpriced bottle of water. To conclude: it is the "Apple" of the Indonesia hotel industry: very nice, works fine, you will be happy, but do not expect any personal customization of your trip, and all additional services are at the price they want.

Review 117:Surrounded by the wild nature (jungle), the Nirwana Gardens is a resort of 4-5 hotels with a few (nice) restaurants, very close from each other. We stayed a Myang Sari. The "chalets" are really ok. Everything works fine and the staff is nice.

Review 118:The property is under refurbishment, so looks old and hasn't been well maintained. It's definitely not for families with children as the property doesn't have any kid activties. One would have to go to the Nirwana gardens, 10 minute walk away or a free shuttle away to enjoy kid activities. We shifted to Nirwana gardens within an hour of our checking into Mayangsari. We are thankful to the staff to accomodate that change, else our vacation would have been ruined.

Review 119:The location is fantastic and have food at the Indian restaurant is very good.

Review 120:Lack of view, needs better lighting. The kitchen area has a nasty smell at times - it didn't permeate the room but we smelled it every time we entered.

Review 121:Fantastic location, easily accessible to the main beach. Shopping thoroughfare is right outside your doorstep so there are cheap eats and massage places up till late at night. Rooms are big - the living, kitchen and bedrooms were separate. There was so much space for only two people as we got the Deluxe room.

Review 122:I just hope they have swimming pool and lower the price of the attractions. Some attractions are not really worth the money

Review 123:The staffs are very friendly and professional. Cozy place to relax. And the beach is magnificent!

Review 124:Almost got charged extra due to a miscalculation of the exchange rateusd to Indonesian Rupie at checkout. Spotted it and it was quicklyrectified with a kind apology. Slightly pricey (similar to Singapore)but worth the extra $$.

Review 125:Beautiful Chalets directly on the beach. Romantic, nice dining options, excellent food (but slightly pricey - similar to Singapore). Wouldrecommend to others. Looks like advertised on the pictures.

Review 126:we had oil on our legs after swimming in the ocean and walking on the beach. the bed and the room was old and very noisy.

Review 127:convenience, close to the ferry terminal and shuttle bus availability. great restaurants nearbye. beautiful long stretch of beach. lot of activities available

Review 128:Beach had a few pieces of tar that stuck to the feet. Not a deal breakerbut it would be great of it could be just that bit cleaner

Review 129:Fantastic views of the seaside and complemented by a very relaxingatmosphere. Really made our trip enjoyable and relaxing!

Review 130:The resort is overdue by about 5 years for major maintainanace program. The room alllocated to us the airconditioner failed and after no sleep they swithched us to another room. The toilet in this room needed to be flushed 3 times to work. The paint inside and out was peeling. There was a squireels nest under the floor that kept us alert. We were on out honeymoon and hoped for a quiet week. Not so Phillip Morris cigraette company ( Over the Top) had a convention of 500 smokers in the surrounding resorts that took over our resort with arrogance from photographers, smokers continually smoked around us while we ate breakfast, I complained every day about that. Then they had the loudest disco system going from 2 pm to 1 am next morning on the beach so no one could sleep, babies were crying everywhere. So Indonesia this is my 2nd and last visit thatnks for ruining our honeymoon.

Review 131:The location, the beach is very scenic, clean and safe.

Review 132:the bathtub is damaged and tired, the breakfast is not tasty with limited food choice

Review 133:few foot step to the beach, nice view with a balcony, if you like water sport, it is very convenient

Review 134:Food and price of room v exspensive for what you get. Resort is old and tired looking - in desperate need of modernization and redecoration. Rooms, bed and entire bathroom need to be updated and changed.

Review 135:Staff are brilliant, warm and friendly. Beach and sea v clear and clean - surrounding areas gorgeous. Food tasty and nice but v pricey V large rooms.
