Reviews for Meteora Hotel at Kastraki

Review 1:Internet was down for the entire time of our stay. Bar staff not friendly at all.

Review 2:Excellent location with great view from the hotel room and restaurant as well as lobby and very friendly receptionist. Rooms are very large as well.

Review 3:Very poor w-f and tv channels below standards, overall a nice hotel with plenty of space, well situated that should be ranked at 4 stars at int level

Review 4:Nice view, spacious common areas and rooms

Review 5:Too many children running wild in the public areas. Riding cycles in the foyer is simply not fair on other guests and makes the bar area unusable. No English speaking TV channel that worked. Had to ask for chairs on the balcony when others already them provided.

Review 6:The view of the Meteora from the balcony - stunning!

Review 7:A bit old but the hotel is not bad. Very good position. Excellent breakfast. Spacious rooms but again a bit old. A bit overpriced for what you get but for a night is a good place to stay

Review 8:No Mythos, Fix or Alfa; just Amstel and Heinekin. No doors between the separate rooms in the family apartment.

Review 9:Great views to the rocks. Quite location about 10min walk via a countryside track to the village. Open fire in the lobby lounge. Good size to the family room (2 bedrooms).

Review 10:Nothing that I could think of.

Review 11:The stunning view from the room, the pool, and the breakfast was pretty good at this rate. The location is the best if you want to have a great view at your door step, but it was a little bit in the middle of nowhere. There was no restaurant nearby so that I preferred to have dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this hotel for a stay in Meteora.

Review 12:The staff except for the reception guy in the second shift (afternoon to evening). The person in the morning shift which I presumed is the owner had a grumpy attitude and never once smiled or enquired about the stay which was very very surprising. The breakfast was not that great except for the Orange moist cake. There was no complementary coffee in the room which is normal for a 3 star.

Review 13:The location and view from the property of the rocks was just serene. You could just sit for hours on their lounge overlooking the pool and the rocks and immerse the serene experience. The Orange moist cake for breakfast was yuummyyy.

Review 14:6 room for 16 ppl The service is below average. The maintenance is low. The food is catastrophic . The pillows too hard . Hot water not stable keep disappearing. The pool is frozen. The waiters in the Restorant are rood , We waited an hour and a half for some of the dishes. Most dishes where just to bad to eat. The waiter came to our table after 1 hour of waiting for the food to tell us that some dishes are not available and if we want something else. The wifi is slow Warms are walking in the hotel all over the place just gross. We try to talk to the manager he just didn't care Lucky for us we only had one night there.

Review 15:the view is amazing nice balcony But that's it הנוף מהמם מרפסות יפות כל השאר לא.

Review 16:The hotel needs updates and investments, but also with a little effort a far more warm atmosphere could be achieved in the breakfastroom, on the terrace and around the swimmingpool. Why not?

Review 17:friendly personel, beautifull location in front of the Meteora

Review 18:Absolutely awesome view to Meteora, it is just the best view in Kastraki village! Also the staff is very friendly, polite, nice and welcoming. There are some little thing which could be done to make this hotel even better, luxury place to stay. But it would rise the price of staying there, so I totally like it as is :)

Review 19:It was awesome view , we love this place ! Hotel is very familiar , with nice and kind people. If you are polish go there and visit you will be surprised with owners:) worth the money.

Review 20:The food was not as good as expected for the area and the quality of the hotel. Mgt needs to improve the quality of the food. Overall, though it is a good hotel for families and couples , clean and very convenient for travelers who want to explore Meteora.

Review 21:The view of the meteora was panoramic.

Review 22:The hotel is located on the side of the hill above olive grove with a view of the Meteora peaks, a couple of kilometres away. We had two lovely evening meal in the dining room and treated to an incredible sunset one evening. There is good parking on site.

Review 23:No WiFi, nowhere! Although there is nothing ( beside lack of WiFi) to complain I still think thst is a Little overpriced for what it's offering. View is Wow, but nothing else.

Review 24:View from the patio and balkony is amazing. Really good and full-of-choice breakfast. Nice bathroom.

Review 25:In general, the staff in the restaurant/ bar area were not overly friendly, they could be more welcoming. The wifi was terrible, even in the communal area.

Review 26:The beautiful pool/restaurant/bar area was the best. Reception staff were nice and gave us both a free upgrade and a parting gift of wine. The view of Meteora is fantastic. Perfect for travelling with small children, due to the warmer toddler pool and also indoor play area. Breakfast was good. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to friends.

Review 27:The hotel is structured for conferences and big events. It is still quiet and peaceful but maybe less intimate than a smaller accomodation

Review 28:The view is worth everything else. Perfectly located, with all the comfort you may need for a very valuable price

Review 29:Some small issues: pillows were too big, no normal juice for breakfast

Review 30:Great place with gorgeous view. The restaurant is pretty great. They gave us a bottle of wine when we left. The stuff is very polite.

Review 31:the bathroom had a weird smell, one of the bed sheets had some stains on it, the refrigerator did not work, the restaurant is a bit pricey

Review 32:the view / the location

Review 33:Within the area of Meteora, there is the Grand Meteora Hotel, and two different Meteora Hotels owned by the same family. Google Maps on the iPhone does not return the proper directions to this hotel. Not the fault of the hotel, and possibly user error, but it'd be best to make sure you know the right way to the hotel in case you were rushing to make the sunset.

Review 34:We had a room that faced the courtyard, so we spent the sunset at the pool, which had a lovely view of Meteora itself. The room was understandably tight with 4 separate beds, but everything was clean, the staff was friendly, and the provided breakfast exceeded expectations.

Review 35:Just couldn't locate the actual Hotel... Signage should really be improved...

Review 36:Location was Awesome... Staff were great too... Nothing wrong with the Breakfast either...

Review 37:Poor WiFi signal in rooms

Review 38:Breathtaking view on Meteora! Although we booked the room with the view on the garden, it was unexpected for us to have such a beautiful view on the Meteora rocks because our room was on the top floor.

Review 39:The staff member was not very friendly. He made me fill out all the paperwork ( my passport info, my credit card info, etc.) and was not very helpful when asked for info about the towns, restaurants and directions. Wifi was not really working. The breakfast was the worst that we had in Greece. Very American and cheap. Even the rooms seemed to be clean, there was insects on the walls in the hallways. It is not a big deal, but for some people it might be. There are no proper direction signs to this hotel. We had to waste 45 min trying to find it.

Review 40:I liked the view from the window.

Review 41:The staff was wonderful, and the hotel was beautiful! My girls didn't want to leave!

Review 42:It was hard to find, and not incredibly comfortable, but it was very nice. I would definitely recommend it, I am just surprised by the 5 star rating.

Review 43:The swimmingpool was croweded and there were not enough towels.

Review 44:The location and the views of Meteora are superb. Some staff (Victor) very kind and helpful

Review 45:We had a quadripple room. For 2 nights it was OK. However for a longer stay this room is too small for 4 persons: exactly enough space for 4 beds, but no storage.

Review 46:Very good Location, allows good combination of visiting Meteora and enjoy outdoor Swimming pool with a view. Room had a balcony, which was also very nice.

Review 47:The hotel is very far from being a 5 star hotel. The service was mediocre and restaurant quite appalling. Meteora is a stunning region and if I came back again I would much prefer to stay in Kastraki in a small guest house as there really aren't any luxury hotels in town. Instead of eating at the hotel restaurant, I would recommend going to a small taverna in Kastraki - try 'Gardenia'. It is such a shame this hotel has the most stunning location but it appears they ran out of money to finish off the hotel and have appropriately trained staff.

Review 48:The view is very beautiful. It is an easy walk to town or quick taxi ride. They provided a free transfer from the train station.

Review 49:the personnal are really perfect. they actually saved my only day at the meteora. The company that I had booked never showed up dont take them (METEORATRAVEL). the best one is METEORA THRONES tour on times co.

Review 50:A very basic hotel with basic facilities. Needs some renovation/modernization. Wifi is not working in the rooms.

Review 51:The view of Meteora is beautiful.

Review 52:Is on the top of a hill close to Kastraki and not super easy to reach but if you ask someone you will managed to find it. There is also the restaurant inside, it is good but you have to wait almost 1h or more to get your dish.

Review 53:Great view on the meteora. New structure, big bathroom, relaxing place, good wifi connections.

Review 54:The bed was made of two single beda pushed together

Review 55:Amazing view from the room. Staff really helpfull and friendly (front desk and restaurant staff). Amazing hotel

Review 56:We did not have wifi at our room, but near the pool and in the restaurant it was no problem.

Review 57:What a view! From both our (large family) room and the pool we had a magnificient view on the famous Meteora rocks. The pool is so nice after visiting the monastries on a hot day. We recommend to eat dinner at the terrace overlooking the pool and the rocks. Breakfast is excellent!

Review 58:Staff not very friendly, didn't seem to much interested in the guests or just didn't have time. 4 persons room isn't actually for 4 persons. It's to small and the extra beds are not comfortable. Breakfast is ok, but what needed to be warm wasn't really and what you expect to be kept cool wasn't either.

Review 59:Nice location with beautiful view over Meteora. Clean rooms and nice pool for an afternoon cool down.

Review 60:Nothing. Everthything was more than okay.

Review 61:The view, the room (5 persons) and the breakfast are all fantastic. This truly a 5 star hotel in a beautiful part of Greece.

Review 62:This hotel is magnificent! Breathtaking view of the meteora from the room balcony. The hotel is very clean, well designed and architected. The room that we had was very large. It had quite a few channels of various languages. Also, the breakfast had many options, it is worth taking it as it will keep you full for the entire visit of all the monasteries. We only stayed 1 night and truly wished we could have extended our stay, but we had already booked a trip to Lefkas. We went to see the meteora with a rented car and that was very convient. Best value for your money!!!! Also, if you can pay cash, the hotel would greatly appreciate it.

Review 63:Hotel is a bit difficult to find, but provides a great view of Meterora. Pool area is great. Perfect hotel to relax near Meteora, although price is not cheap :)

Review 64:You need a car to get there, it isn't easy to find at first out of town.

Review 65:Amazing views from our room and all the communal areas. Large spacious room. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

Review 66:Fitness room could be improved. Breakfast rather frugal.

Review 67:Very helpful and friendly personnel. Fantastic view of Meteora and surroundings. fine rooms.

Review 68:Wi-Fi, although it worked in the room, was of poor quality, with interruptions. Would have preferred to have fresh orange juice at breakfast. Tables at the restaurant remained not cleaned for one hour after breakfast - not very pleasant view for those coming at the swimming pool. Wasps annoying those enjoying breakfast outside, on the terasse of the restaurant - other hotels found solutions to keep them away. Very small TV in the room - almost like the screen of a laptop. Balcony and view from balcony rather dissapointing compared to the ones advertised in the photos shown on booking.com. But one could see, indeed, the Meteora rocks from the balcony.

Review 69:Beautiful view, very friendly staff, cleanness, corner with toys for kids to play, nice swimming pool. Peaceful, calm place. Good breakfast (except sausages of rather poor quality, juice and coffee). Excellent wholegrain bread, with seeds! Parking available with no stress (one of the advantages of hotel rather isolated location). Several English news channels - BBC World, CNN etc. - not always the case in 4-star hotels in Greece. Overall, an excellent stay!

Review 70:WiFi signal was very poor in the rooms. Almost unusable. In the lobby no one cares to ask you if you wish something. Same for the pool. If you do order something you have to sign for each drink. No water inside the kids pool. Lots of death flies on the lobby windows. There is nothing on the minibar. Definitely not 5 stars hotel.

Review 71:The view! Everything else does not matter if you consider the outstanding position. Very clean rooms. Good breakfast.

Review 72:Dinning room, but the rest was perfect.

Review 73:Wonderfull view on Meteora, great pool with on mountains. Good standard of room. Advice: You need car to get to Kastraki center - 1km to the nearest taverna.

Review 74:Breakfast was poor and the air conditioning didn't work properly.

Review 75:Fabulous Views, modern clean hotel, very nice room and very helpful staff at reception.

Review 76:Cleaning was superficial - from one day to another they did not clean the balcony and the bathtub was untuched.

Review 77:Beautiful location, restaurant and pool with astonishing VIEW at Meteora rocks.

Review 78:An amazing place in an amazing location, with absolutely stunning views!! A great place to relax by the pool!! Staff were very friendly and breakfast and dinner was superb! If you are in the region it is a must stop!! Wi-fi was available in reception/ lounge area.

Review 79:First off trying to find this hotel is difficult because there are virtually no signs and the listed address is misleading. If I had't had a native Greek with me I might not ever have found the hotel. 2.) The air conditioning didn't work 3.) The thresholds are not rolling suitcase friendly. 4.) The restaurant was disappointing 5.) the breakfast was disappointing

Review 80:The view from my room was fabulous. And once I opened the door the room it then cooled off nicely.

Review 81:according to booking.com they have A/C however they didn't have it on at the end of May when it was around 80/85. And it's a bit dirty, they don't do a good job at cleaning the hotel from the bugs, they are everywhere.

Review 82:Facilities are basic and this is fair way from the towns. Basically we would have a big lunch in town and then just a snack for dinner

Review 83:Pretty view, a great place to sit and relax after a day's exploring.

Review 84:Staff acted cold Wifi only in the lobby Field road to access hotel Dining hall felt like a gymnasium

Review 85:Nice view of Meteora hills Nice room Overall good facility

Review 86:A spacious room but very simple. Wi-fi didn't work in all aereas, neither room nor in hall. A very small Tv, like an ipad. Very hard to find the hotel.

Review 87:It is in a quiet location and isolated from the town. The view from the hall facing the Meteora rocks is really amazing, but the most hotels in that location have a wonderful view. The room was clean and the breakfast is traditional, but not 4 star hotel.

Review 88:no available map of the area to hand out to guests (I had to take a picture of THE map they had), also WIFI only available in common areas, not the room; but the staff were super friendly and helpful

Review 89:It's hard to get a place for a family of 5 but this hotel was an excellent find! The rooms were surprisingly spacious, beds were very comfortable and we felt well-rested, and the views were amazing! Most definitely great value for the money! I also appreciated the secludedness of it, this was a tranquil and rejuvenating stay!

Review 90:The view from the rooms facing the Meteora rocks is really amazing. The staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfast is very good! Property well kept with beautiful gardens and a terrace and swimming-pool where to give a perfect end to a day of visiting monasteries and walking around. The hotel is a bit isolated and you need a car to go to Kastraki or Kalambaka if you want to have dinner in town but, all and all, I would stay at Meteora Hotel again gladly.

Review 91:There was too much light in the bedroom since the curtains are not at all light proof...

Review 92:The view on the Meteora from the hotel terrasse and restaurant, the main lobby.

Review 93:Staff could have been more friendly. They did their job, but you could feel that it wasn't so pleasant for them.

Review 94:Very spacious room, clean and warm. It was minus degrees when we stayed, so the warm room was ideal. Excellent view of the Meteora. At the lobby, there are toys for children, so kids can play and parents have a nice drink by the fireplace.

Review 95:Often there was no hot water available (with external temperatures -C), but after notifying the reception it was fixed within ~ 1/2 - 1 hour.

Review 96:The view of Meteora rocks is astonishing from the room and restaurant & main hall. The main hall is beautifully decorated, creating a warm atmosphere in winter. There is plenty of space everywhere. The staff was very nice and pet friendly. Breakfast was very good,

Review 97:We came to our room at 21:00. We wanted to have a bath to our kids but the water was cold. I asked the reseption and they told me that the boiler wasn't at the right temperature for hot water but it would be ok in 30-40 minutes. Unfortunately after many calls to the reseption and many complaints we fall asleep at 24:00 without having a bath since there wasn't hot water yet. Among the many calls i did till then to ask what was happening I found out that they knew about the problem because it was common not to have hot water after noon when most of the customers are taking their bath. This is unacceptable for a 4 star hotel especially during the winder (it was -2°C outside).

Review 98:Nice beds.

Review 99:The breakfast wasn't great. The cold produce was ok but we had fried eggs and bacon which was stone cold! They need to find a more effective way to keep the food hot.

Review 100:Location was wonderful. The reception area was lovely with beautiful views. The rooms were ok but not 5 star. Overall good though.

Review 101:Signage and directions to the hotel were practically non-existent. It is a bit out of the way, so you do need assistance. Wifi did not work. There was no electricity the morning we were there - cold coffee, no toast, could not use a hairdryer. Staff were not helpful. It may be something they are used to, but no discount was offered for inconvenience.

Review 102:All round good facilities and nice hotel, but impossible to find, especially at night. Room size was good.

Review 103:Not anything wow, just fair hotel for its rate but in a very good location. The road that goes to the hotel from the main road is not visible! Hard to find fai breakfast as well.

Review 104:The location the view and swimming below the Meteora rocks! I think the better hotel at the place because the rest are not good enough...

Review 105:The little walking path from the hotel to Kastriki. It's along bushes and I wouldn't dare to walk this path if it's dark although it's only 10 minutes walk. My suggestion is for the hotel to may be make it a proper walkway.

Review 106:I like that the room is big and staff that is really helpful and friendly. They have assisted me to check on the buses available for my next destination. Also some suggestions on the Mateora visits. The room is clean with a superb view facing Mateora. Breakfast is good too with plenty of choices to start your day.

Review 107:Nothing

Review 108:We stayed a night at this hostel. It is well located. the best is definitely the swimming pool and its panoramic view on the meteor. We were going to Corfu the day after and we didn't know how to do it. The owners arranged everything for us (timetable, tickets) and they even drove us to the parking where we took the car. They were really helpful.

Review 109:Little bit more extensive then regular hotels in Greece, but it also has higher quality. The drinks at the pool were rather expensive, while the dinner was ok priced. You need to reach the hotel by car.

Review 110:Great location, good staff and superb views from the pool. Dinner at the hotel was not so expensive, but did not have very extensive options.Great for exploring the surroundings in relaxed manner.

Review 111:The staff were very pleasant and helpful. This is a good place to go if visiting Meteora with small kids as we were able to visit just one monastery per day and then relax by the pool with an amazing view of the rocks.

Review 112:no negatives...it was the perfect place to stay if you want to see the monasteries of Meteora....

Review 113:Loved the beautiful hotel with gorgeous swimming pool overlooking one of the most beautiful views ever...good value...great breakfast...comfortable..clean ...new

Review 114:Too much noise from neighbor rooms Dinner in the hotel's restaurant could be better. And there are no other places in walking distance

Review 115:Beautiful view from reception, swimming pool and the room. A good place for one night stop before visiting meteoras

Review 116:The quality of the resturent was extreamly poor and the ACs was not performing well.. the loopy and the room was really hot

Review 117:The hotel staff are perfect and tge location was really fantastic.. we enjoy the pool with Meteora special view

Review 118:The location was perfect, away from the crowded small town. We loved everything - the staff, the clean rooms, the breakfast, the swimming pool (which is a big plus when the weather is hot). It's a 10 minutes drive to Kastraki, where you'll find plenty of restaurants and terraces to hang out. The best hotel money can buy in the area!!! Just one tip: try to book a room with mountains / swimming pool view, to make the best of your stay.

Review 119:We spent only one day at this hotel since we were on a road trip in Northern Greece, but I wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel has the most astonishing view towards Meteora and I believe this is the best view towards the rock phenomenon you can get in Kastraki. Sitting on the table on our terrace and enjoying the panoramic view towards Meteora was just amazing! You get the same view from the swimming pool, the restaurant, the lobby and virtually from everywhere inside and outside the hotel. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy, personnel was always helpful. The restaurant was fine as well, although we only had breakfast which was included in the price, and it was rich and nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who's visiting Meteora.

Review 120:the food could be better but it was adequate

Review 121:The view and the pool were great as was the access to the village via the footpath, the rooms were extremely comfortable and the staff was very helpful

Review 122:No room service or meal service at the pool. The staff is not very friendly and not helpful.

Review 123:The location is a little but far from Kastraki town but the swimming pool is a paradise with the full view on the Meteores. The family room is big with a view on the valley - no family room with a view on the Meteores

Review 124:Very Nice hotel location, though it is not central but this give you the edge to have a whole view of the Meteora area and the village, if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy nature it is the perfect place! Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and nice, and I would say it is worth taking the Meteora view rooms.

Review 125:Limited parking places in front of the hotel. Very basic continental breakfast. Slow internet connection at the evening.

Review 126:Hotel with beautiful view, expecially from swimming pool. Nice and tidy hotel. Very good located. I enjoyed stay there.

Review 127:We had the family suite with the fire place, which sleeps up to 5 in two rooms. Very spacious for the four of us, and great view of the Meteora from room and balcony. Lovely swimming pool and pool area. Great value for money.

Review 128:Nothing Just one tip: Maybe you could put a few more signs towards the hotel. Our GPS couldn't find the location.

Review 129:Beautiful location with great views of the Meteora. We booked a family suite with 2 separate bedrooms. Really nice and spacious and very clean. Staff at reception/bar/breakfast is very helpful and friendly. Beautiful pool area with a great view of the Meteora. Pool is very clean and refreshing. As the hotel is a little bit outside of Kastraki, you need a car to get to Kastraki where there are a lot of little tavernes with good food.

Review 130:No way was it a 4star, wasn't even 2star. Pillow was a brick, beds were small and terrible, spiders and spider webs in room, only hand held shower, very cheap soap and shampoo that didn't sud, dead bugs all over breakfast tables, very poor food selection. Food that was suppose to be hot was cold and food suppose to be cold was warm (very dangerous and unhealthy), room was not made by 5pm. We were checking out the next morning they walked in on us twice. There was no Do Not Disturb sign to use. Hotel was hard to find and was in the middle of nowhere on a small unlit road on a hill surrounded by wild field grass so you couldn't see anything but with your headlights. It was the worst hotel we've ever stayed at in all our many travels. Avoid this hotel.

Review 131:The hotel was terrible. We didn't like anything but the view. Even the front desk people were not helpful and couldnt give us any information about hours or stores, anything. They couldn't even tell us how to get to the hotel when we were nearby and our GPS couldn't find it because it was in the middle of nowhere.

Review 132:Carefully check the bed to the presence of animals. We are faced with this problem, and at night we had to change the room. Staff have treated this as a normal event. In the bathroom there is steady smell of sewage. Breakfast very poor. I do not recommend to go to this hotel. You'll find a lot of hotels arround Meteora with the same views!

Review 133:Amazing view

Review 134:Staff was friendly and we liked our stay in a room with an amazing view and a nice balcony. Swimming pool also very good, nice to have a swim after visiting the monastries.
