Reviews for Nirwana Resort Hotel

Review 1:We were not lucky with weather and could not swim in the sea. The hotel buses are pretty old and do not look safe.

Review 2:Variety of activities for teens and grown-ups. Friendly personnel. Huge territory. Meeting and escort from/to the ferry terminal. Japanese restaurant.

Review 3:too noisy in the evening dur to the fans of air conditioning system. not posible to sleep well. Very few choises for wine

Review 4:Very close to the beach, nice landscapes

Review 5:Prices of food and beverages are hefty in Nirwana Gardens and in Plaza Lagoi:(

Review 6:Very friendly staff. Very comfortable beds. Lots of facilities to keep guests occupied. Nice beautiful place to relax and not do anything!

Review 7:The simple things, for examples the coffee cup provided at guest room are dirty with stain. It's should get it replaced and observed on the kettle as well.

Review 8:Nothing special.

Review 9:Smoking bins should not be located outside the corridor of non-smoking rooms. We preferred having our daily breakfast in the coffeeshop like we usually had on our previous visits. Having breakfast at the poolside restaurant is not pleasant and nice as flies and birds are flying over and around our dining table.

Review 10:We like that the staff were hospitable and attentive to our needs. Some long service staff remembers us as return guests.

Review 11:Food is a bit pricy and for toddler there's no much option, would be better if they serve more cooked vegetables. Baby cot is a bit dusty. Room looks old and could use a refurbish, but it was clean which is more important to us.

Review 12:There are lots of facilities to keep the whole family and the little one busy. Love the infinity pool. Lots of food options within very short distance. Staff were very friendly.

Review 13:room was run down. even the telephone was visibly dirty. bathroom soap dispenser had insect's nest growing

Review 14:beach had nice soft sand. good for family with young children. there was an elephant and pony. and the pool was nice

Review 15:- Rooms are simple, bathroom just ok - Restaurants are very pricey - Hotel made for Singaporeans, with Singaporean rates

Review 16:- Excellent location, 2 steps from a gorgeous beach - Infinity pool overlooking the beach - Royal breakfast - Wifi everywhere - Free pickup from the ferry terminal

Review 17:We were not too happy with the premier deluxe room. It was very basic and functional. We were told these rooms were recently renovated but they were still dated. We then asked to upgrade to a suite which was great! The staff were kind enough to accommodate us and even offered us a discounted price on the upgrade.

Review 18:Great staff, huge outdoor spaces, plenty of eating options within the property

Review 19:Never seen such poor pillows. Had asked for changing but didn't get any better.

Review 20:staff was very friendly and willing to help. Breakfast was awesome. Pool was just located near beach so I really enjoyed swimming both pool and sea.

Review 21:We have a child in the room (for which we paid an extra amount), and despite asking for additional towels, we did not get them!

Review 22:The location is excellent. The beach is lovely, and the water is multiple shades of blue and turquoise. There were plenty of food options, and food quality was very good.

Review 23:Update the rooms. Need to offer greater choice in room service menu! Very limited and was told every time things were not available. This is third time I have stayed here over the last 7 years and seems to have become a lot limited in food choices and very over priced, especially if there is nowhere to go to outside of the hotel.

Review 24:The location is great as is view of pool and beach which I would say is iconic to Nirwana gardens resort.

Review 25:The beach is not the best for swimming, but there is a pool for that. Also some orange juice for the breakfast would be nice, not just different kind of melon juices.

Review 26:Friendly staff, nice room and dinner / breakfast next to the sea.

Review 27:Everything except still have flies at the BBQ restaurant. We had stayed in Nirwana Resort many times. This time there were no more seaweed at the beach! We felt more relaxing and comfort when at the beach.

Review 28:Location was near to terminal ferry. There was free shuttle bus to take us to other part of the Nirwana Gardens. Staffs were Super friendly and were accomodating to our needs. Room was great and clean. Wifi was reliable.

Review 29:The main breakfast restaurant was closed during our stay, so breakfast was in an outdoor restaurant by pool, which was extremely hot and not well air conditioned.

Review 30:Excellent breakfasts (incl), fantastic pool complex, elephant riding for kids, lots of restaurants to choose from. Friendly staff.

Review 31:Everyone at Sanyita was super-helpful and extremely nice except for Bun who was hell-bent on preventing me from fishing off the pier. No big deal but he was the only downer. A great place and even buzzkill Bun will not prevent me from returning!

Review 32:Everything was 1st class...well managed place....Craig runs a unique and relaxing resort. Will certainly revisit.

Review 33:The Resort placed a hold on our credit card 10 days or so before our arrival date (circa NZ$600) without telling us. We were travelling and couldn't work out why our credit card balance was so high. We thought we'd overspent on the travel budget. As a result we spent less on food and drinks at the Resort than we otherwise might have. Did themselves out of a few hundred $$$.

Review 34:Great pool and kids loved the Elephant rides

Review 35:The prices of the food are too expensive and only very few varieties of selection especially dessert..

Review 36:Everything was great, pool, service staff especially in the poolside are very friendly.

Review 37:Shabby room; lousy shower pressure; no Wi-Fi (US$10/ day extra) If I want to get mugged I'll walk down Copacabana beach at 2am wearing a Rolex with $1,000/- hanging out of my pocket - the prices for everything are crazy

Review 38:Great staff; nice pool; great beach and well-organised ferry terminal transfers.

Review 39:Far from everything No options for non resort food & drink except for tiny shop Food & drinks in all the restaurants are very expensive Breakfast is so so and they clean it away too early The spice restaurant isn't good Hotel is a bit run down - feels like it's glory was 15-20 years ago Only one hour late check out provided even though hotel was empty

Review 40:Great pool Lovely location on the beach Friendly staff - especially bartender in the pub Comfortable bed in the delux room Live music Good Thai restaurant Nice welcoming Free shuttle to and from ferry and within the resort

Review 41:No local bars outside the hotel to get a feel of The local countryside.

Review 42:Good location, but value for money on food was not great. No real local food to eat and had a pasta dish in the coffee shop which only had 4 prawns in it! It's near the ocean full of prawns!

Review 43:Activity a little pricey as I thought Indonesia didn't had to spend so much. Food in kelong is pricey as well, maybe more expensive then eating in Singapore.

Review 44:Nice pool n there is a mini zoo for kids which I think it's amazing located in the resort. Arts activity are available too. Had fun with ATV adventure, which the staff took good care of us and took the effort to take nice photos n video throughout the journey.

Review 45:We got charged 1.5m idr for 2 extra persons in the room. We already paid separately for the breakfast of those 2 extra persons. So i think the charge is too high.

Review 46:Location, pool

Review 47:Drinks and food were very expensive and there wasn't much of a chance to see anything but whats in the resort. The breakfast was OK but if you had an allergy eg gluten intolerant or lactose intolerant they were not able to cater to your needs. I asked for Soy milk and got pointed in the direction of soy sauce.

Review 48:the rooms were very nice and the pool area was great.

Review 49:The food is very expensive.

Review 50:The pool is amazing. Sea view room is perfect for the view and watching the elephant, "Emma" is a bonus. The staff are quite helpful and room service is excellent.

Review 51:Food and drinks were quite expensive. The only restaurant walking distance from room was only western food. However there is free shuttle buses to other cuisines.

Review 52:Lots to do within the nirwana gardens. Laid back, friendly staff. Good cocktails. Regular shuttle bus throughout the gardens.

Review 53:The staff communicated with us by writing on paper as we r deaf. patient and understanding. Food at dino bistro and the kelong resturant is not bad.

Review 54:Some areas of the resort are looking a little tired but then we could see that other areas are being modernised.

Review 55:Staff were in general friendly and helpfull. There were a number of restaurants and the shuttle busses between the restaurants and to the airport were very regular and reliable.

Review 56:The restaurant is too pricey and there are not too many options, especially if you are vegetarian. Staff at the recreation center (bowling alley) are slow and not very responsive. Recreation center needs urgent refurbishing. They just have one volleyball at the pool house. Most drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) are too pricey even by Singapore standards! Wifi is pathetic - it was good in a way since we really felt relaxed. Mini-zoo has nothing really. All said and done, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Review 57:We had booked two rooms at this hotel and we arrived at this property by 1PM and the check in was only at 3PM. Being secluded from the main town of Bintan, we were unsure of what to do. But the hotel was kind enough to give us one of the rooms and asked us to collect the other room keys by 3PM. However, we did not get the keys of the other room up until 4:30PM. So, in some sense, they are flexible and expect flexibility from us too (not complaining). Staff were really friendly - especially restaurant and front lobby staff. They even gave us some print outs, without charging us. The pool is beautiful. Beach is not great, playing in the pool was better. Walk around the property feels relaxing. A crib was provided for our daughter.

Review 58:Too many people at the breakfast buffet. The food was gone pretty fast. Old furniture and too few sun beds in the beach and pool. Renovation and new management strongly recommended. There might be much better hotels on Bintan

Review 59:The more expansive Rooms have been renovated and therefore they are OK.

Review 60:I reach around 12PM but I could not check in until 3 PM, the receptionist kept telling me that the room is not ready despite I did put a request to check in early. (check out is 12PM)

Review 61:At first i didn't know that inside the gate of "Nirwana Garden" (Heaven garden) there are few other resort like, "Banyu Biru Villa", "Mayang sari beach resort", "Villa Aarya" and few more other. So basically, which ever resort you choose inside this gate, you still can walk around all the places here. The Beach was awsome! Clean with white sand and blue sea. It was not a crowded weekend so i really enjoy the ride and places all by myself. I was offered a Mix outdoor activities which was so fun and value for money. Staffs was very friendly. I even got a note to inform me my room had been make up and wish me to have a great day from my room service guy.

Review 62:All the enormous sky high prices for food and beverage that cost over 3 times less on the ferry terminal. The staff suck at flexibility, most travelers are not used to so many rupiah numbers and missing 2000 rupiah with this sky high prices, the hotel should be flexible!

Review 63:The facilities

Review 64:Very (family-) friendly and flexible staff, it was a pleasure to be there. We spent a few days of relaxation and enjoyed the pool and the beach. The kids loved the Elephant and the little Zoo. As others already mentioned there is not much to do or to see apart from the ressort itself but that was ok since we only wanted to have some days off. Thanks again to everyone there for creating such a positive and relaxing atmosphere!

Review 65:Not much feel for what is outside the resort and it doesn't appear that you can go see the island - no transport out of resort. Minor things like the bathroom needs uplifting and wifi is weak sometimes.

Review 66:Location and the dream resort experience. Great for a quiet getaway and family time.

Review 67:The check in time is too late and cannot choose twin bed or queen bed.

Review 68:The staff are really nice and warm-hearted. Really near to the beach. Love the spa and shooting game!

Review 69:no teh botol! food and drinks over priced should let the eagles, vultures and kite go free or to a bigger zoo compartment bus frequency not regular/flexible

Review 70:breakfast buffet is good private beach

Review 71:the hotel is run down , we payed for a 5 star ($390+ per room , per night , and got a 3 star standard . breakfast is absolutely terrible , and so is the restaurant. at the pool food court we got 4 fresh cocoanuts, 1 banana split , and a sambal squid for a grand total of $70!!!!!!

Review 72:the beach is nice

Review 73:Resort Center is not really good. The Restoran 'Makan-Makan' is not good. Bowling Center is old. Not many choice of Spa and massage. Gym is not fully equipped.

Review 74:The Swimming pool is nice. The room is clean. The Beach is nice and clean. Mini Zoo is great, like the snake and the croc.

Review 75:I liked everything about Nirwana Garden Beach resort. All my great expectations were met. There's nothing that I disliked about this resort.

Review 76:I liked and I even loved everything about this resort. This is were I would love to spend every vacation that I'll in the future. All the staffs were all accomadating and friendly, they always greet you with their big and genuine smiles. This resort for me is compared to a paradise. This is my home away from home. I'll surely keep and will never be tired of coming back here.

Review 77:No toiletries were provided. Hotel condition little bit worn out. 1 liter of water bottle cost 70,000 Rupiah. Exorbitant prices for foods and many of the activities.

Review 78:BBQ buffet was great, breakfast was decent. overall food was good in most of the restaurants.

Review 79:No balcony in room !!!! Too many people at breakfast, too noisy and no outdoor space More suitable for families and groups of young adults

Review 80:Beach Proximity to other places in resort & transportation Spa at Mayang Sari next door The Thai restaurant

Review 81:There weren't many choices for snacks in between meals.

Review 82:The ambience was great, we were able to walk the length of the resort and the staff always friendly.

Review 83:During the BBQ buffet there was a show, with several artist and being presented by a speaker. But the speaker also made advertisements during the presentation which I did not like. Mixture of plastic furniture at the top floor, I prefer the wooden

Review 84:piece and quiet

Review 85:Food is very expensive and doesn't taste nice. The air condition in the room was very laoud.

Review 86:Nice swimming pool and white sandy beach. Free shuttle bus around the hotel.

Review 87:Too expensive! Can you imagine even the floats at the pool (for the kids) are chargeable? Everything cost money here and not cheap at all (price is equivalent or even higher than Singapore). I would expect the buffet breakfast to be chargeable only for kids 6 and above but no, they charge for little ones above 3. Had to pay for our 5yo boy who doesn't eat much than a bowl of breakfast cereal.

Review 88:Overall we find that the staff at the resort are friendly and helpful. They always wears a smile on their faces which makes our beach retreat a much enjoyable one. The beach was lovely especially during low tide, we were able to check out the corals and were lucky to even found a small octopus. The kids were thrilled to see fishes swimming around them. Too bad we forgot to sneak out a slice or two bread from the breakfast else we would be able to feed the fishes and have them swarming around us.

Review 89:Paid for an upgrade for a view of the beach or pool. Very disappointed barely see either. Due to various obstructions.

Review 90:Location was great, beach good. Staff very friendly.

Review 91:Almost nothing although aircon could be cooler in the recreation center.

Review 92:The Kelong Restaurant was most worth to visit for a most romantic dinner. Memorable.

Review 93:1. not able to check in even only half an hour before 3pm 2. wifi was intermittent. Called for help and they said would send someone to my room but I waited till I fell asleep and no one ever came 3. Gym was like an oven 4. Facilities rather run down

Review 94:There were 4 of us and we managed to get connecting rooms which was very convenient.

Review 95:I simply didn't like how hard the bed was. It was a bit too firm for my own comfort.

Review 96:I liked being so close to the beach and the array of activities available to do.

Review 97:Many food choices in the 'Lobby' restaurant were not available. Simple things like 'fish & chips' and 'French onion soup'.

Review 98:Relaxed, friendly staff. Location. Check-in at the lounge. The suite. The amenities such as shooting and bowling.

Review 99:Minor niggle: the bathroom of our suite felt a bit dated and grubby but it did not spoil the weekend at all.

Review 100:Great staff made us feel very pampered throughout our couple's weekend. So relaxing, but with plenty of activities for when you're tired of lazing around. We want to come back with the kids too!

Review 101:I have requested for a Honeymoon room setup, u hv agreed to set up swan towels, but there was none. it was just a plain room for any walk-in guest...although we have booked with you & given enough time before our checkin date. quite disappointing as we want to capture a memorable First Wedding nite at Nirwana...but we just have to accept the given situation...sadly.

Review 102:breakfast spread was good

Review 103:The staff were all friendly and interacted with sincere smile when approached. Their hospitality services really impressed me. One of my friend got sick during the stay in the resort. He saw doctor in the resort and the staff showed extra care to us. Big thanks for all the staff offered help to us. We do appreciated for all your service straight from the heart!

Review 104:1) wifi speed 2) no frequent shuttle to go to Lagoi Mall

Review 105:1) Nice, clean rooms 2) Free Wifi 3) swimming pool 4) Spice Restaurant. You can get the awesomest Indian food. The chef Kunalan was so much caring for customers and food. Another staff Kali was also very nice to us.

Review 106:Very limited dining options. Almost nothing local available and the only attached restaurant that was air conditioned was closed.

Review 107:Staff were very helpful and always friendly. The location is good as the beach is very quiet and the pool is a decent size

Review 108:Wifi signal can be quite poor in some rooms. We have seen many guests lingering in the lobby just for the better wifi there. The price at the hotel's restaurant is definitely Singapore standard and honestly we don't think the food were worth that much, although we did enjoy the live band performance during dinner.

Review 109:Got free upgrade to sea view room. The pool is well-designed and the private beach is very clean.

Review 110:All the activities are outside the main resort making it little uncomfortable. We can use the buggy but again it comes with a cost.

Review 111:Breakfast was very elaborate and good.

Review 112:Leider Teer/schwarzes Öl in einzelnen Klumpen am Strand. Kommt von den vielen Tankern im Meer vor Singapur, das Hotel kann da nicht viel ausrichten.

Review 113:Alles!

Review 114:Our visit not at right time, pasar Oleh Oleh was closed down, and Lagoi plaza not open for business yet. We just able to walk around within nirwana resort. Luckily nirwana provide efficient shutter bus to bring customer travel within nirwana compound.

Review 115:Friendly and helpful staffs. We are impressed a lots.

Review 116:The island has a beautiful turist potential, unfortunately, due to the vessel traffic, the beach and the sea are full of tar, so both of them are impracticable. Moreover the staff do not take care of their natural resources, the beach is full of waste, probably there is more than I saw. Probably the other resort on the other side of the island do not have the same big problem. The food choice is very poor and the cooking is blamewothy. No recreation at all in all the resort.

Review 117:The resort is quite old, but the price payed for the low season is acceptable (I cannot say the same for the high season). The swimming pool is amazing, but is the only way to enjoy the resort. The rooms are cleaned as indonesian standard.

Review 118:Expensive. Souvenir shops are dated. Diner bistro food is not good. Tar in the beaches.spa services last only until 9pm.

Review 119:Free and strong wi-fi. Pool towels available. They helped us get ferry tickets. Shuttle bus travels to other resorts and restaurants. Breakfast buffet very good.

Review 120:Food and drink way too expensive.

Review 121:Thank you Biah ( reservation staff) for all the arrangement, we like it so much and your prompt reply ! Well done ! And also Ray from housekeeping, me and my girlfriend love the towel elephant so much hahahah

Review 122:can't swim because of black oil. famous discusovery trou was really not feeling exciting.

Review 123:nice beaches, quite and not many people. grat experience with air advanture.

Review 124:Hotel is a little dated, particularly the gym (very old machines and no a/c). Signage a bit confusing - its a big complex!

Review 125:Staff are friendly and helpful Both beaches were wonderful and very quiet when we stayed (weekday). Spice restaurant is a lovely setting and the food is good value for money. Very good value for money overall

Review 126:The bed was too soft and we had to be firm in requesting for a change of bed before our request was been attended to. The food was expensive and not nice. The beach was not that clean and beach chairs were limited.

Review 127:There are activities like beach volley, soccer, horse riding, elephant rides, mini zoo, archery and rifle shooting etc.

Review 128:Everything is contained within the resort. Everything is rather expensively priced. Not enough movie channels.

Review 129:Excellent service. Nice bed and pillows.

Review 130:Room was a bit tired. Lots of good places to eat within the resort, but all a bit pricey.

Review 131:Friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool. Very good breakfast with lots of choice.

Review 132:A bit expensivce. Have oil on sands.

Review 133:Good location, hotel can pick up from ferry terminal. Good facility, less people, when stay close to beach at evening, just like thats all belongs to you.

Review 134:The room was clean but definitely not worth the amount we paid.

Review 135:We wanted a short getaway from Singapore with our 3 month old baby, it was perfect for that as there was lots we could do on the resort. We loved the archery, bowling and massages.

Review 136:Wifi signal is very low; Room shower tower is always not enough.

Review 137:Very considerate and helpful check in/check out service Kids love elephant ride along the beach Mini zoo is fun Water sports are fun

Review 138:The resort needs restauration and repair of broken doors etc. The fitness center need more crosstrainers, new bikes and a working air conditioning.

Review 139:The environment is very green, calm and relaxing. There are plent of activities. The pool area, beach and hotel was exellent. Many very good restaurants to choose from. Do not forget to enjoy a cocktail at the calypso bar when admiring the sunset.

Review 140:Food was a bit expensive. Sports centre not as well maintained as the resort.

Review 141:Good location with friendly staff . Quite clean and well maintained.Nice pool too. Enjoyed the breakfast...was a good spread.

Review 142:Nirwana resort beach full of tar and very dirty. Could not swim in the sea there. However the beach at the water sports centre was clean. They should inform their guests about this on arrival. Quite expensive. Window in the room was locked and room became very stuffy especially since aircon was automically turned off once we left the room. We had to ask housekeeping to open the window but we were not given a key to lock it once we left the room. Leak in bathroom. Toiletries very limited. Room looked quite dated. Would have liked to have seen a larger selection of tropical fruit at breakfast. Free wifi was hopeless so we purchased what should have been an upgrade but that didn't work well either. Seriously need to upgrade that.

Review 143:Staff were very friendly and accommodating and always smiling. Good varied activities. Great experience was sunset at the Kelong restaurant. Food was good. Short elephant ride was also a fun experience for a first timer.

Review 144:Pricey. Were told currently using is rupiah now and website didn't update. A hassle as need to go to ferry terminal or their pasar to change money.

Review 145:Gd location. Great swimming pool. Excellent service staff. Clean comfortable room.

The Fine Print

Please note that the hotel provides free transportation to and from the pier. Guests who want to use this service should inform the hotel of their arrival details.
