Grand Hotel Faraglioni

Grand Hotel Faraglioni descritpion
With spectacular views of the Baia Dei Ciclopi, the Norman castle of Acicastello and the Faraglioni rocks, the hotel is right on the seafront in the heart of Acitrezza, an ancient fishing village.
On the Sicilian coastline, between the seaside towns of Taormina and Catania, Acitrezza is a pretty ancient fishing village and the ideal spot to enjoy a relaxing vacation in Sicily. Each of the hotel’s rooms has a small balcony and the hotel’s eye-catching cylindrical design provides the ideal opportunity to breathe in the magnificent panoramic views.
Legend has it that during his journeys in the Mediterranean, Ulysses landed on an island inhabited by a giant with one eye, Polifemo (Cyclops). When Ulysses escaped, the giant flung rocks at Ulysses’ departing ship – these rocks still survive and are now known as the Faraglioni rocks.

Reviews for Grand Hotel Faraglioni
Review 1:No help concerning car parking on arrival. Not even a space outside the front door to unload luggage (7pm).Had to find a spot over 500 metres away and walk back with luggage.
Review 2:looks unassuming when you enter but the rooms and breakfast area(open) are quite comfortable .The staff especially the room maid on the 2 nd floor(214) was first class . All front desk staff were very helpful especially the young lady with a German mother .
Review 3:Bad swimming area. The shown umbrella and sun bead area on the other side of the road close to the sea that was shown in one of the pictures didn't exist. Maybe they remove it during winter season and hadn't rebuilt it for summer yet...?
Review 4:Location, sea view, spacious rooms, comfortable bed
Review 5:a little bit rusty poor interior
Review 6:nice staff a lot of tv channels incl RUSSIAN perfect view on the coast (its just in front of the sea) nice breakfast
Review 7:Parking is free but VERY tight - if you rent a mid-sized car or larger expect some "fun" getting in and out from the garage. Fiat500 = perfect size. Wi-Fi was very poor and unreliable.
Review 8:Location - walking distance to fantastic cafes and places to eat (best granita at Mythos!). Staff was fantastic and helpful. Did I mention LOCATION!
Review 9:sometimes people came in and out of their rooms quite early and since the hallways are of marble, you could hear every sound out in the hallway including the automatic slamming of the doors.
Review 10:lovely location, lovely hotel, nice staff, multilingual, nice rooms, clean.
Review 11:When we checked in, shower hose was leaking and spraying water. Only one small bar of soap in room. Called down and they fixed the shower immediately. Rooms could use an update.
Review 12:Great location. Great sea views. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff.
Review 13:Sadly the sun terrace and lido were not fully operational for our stay. That said it didnt spoil the holiday. However had they been fully functional this would have made the holiday fabulous
Review 14:The staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Very friendly and made the holiday. The location and views are exceptional.
Review 15:the view is amazing and the rooms are clean in good size.
Review 16:Breakfast
Review 17:Hotel near the sea Parking inside of hotel
Review 18:everything. my second time here
Review 19:Accitrezza is great & this is a perfect location
Review 20:Breakfast time should be extended over 10am
Review 21:Hotel car park extreamly small, anything bigger than a C1 and there is no possibility of driving into the very narrow entrance.
Review 22:The Hotel has seen better days, it does not have the décor of a Grand Hotel. Breakfast: the choice and quality are poor.
Review 23:Very good location
Review 24:design of hotel, location, view, breakfast, staff
Review 25:Sea right crossing the street !
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:It is clean and the staff is excellent.
Review 28:The desk lady on afternoon and evening helped with everything - parking dining driving printing
Review 29:location view
Review 30:The hotel knew better days. Air-condition very poor - leaked at night and made big noise. WiFi very slow and unsatisfactory. The hotel parking is only for small cars
Review 31:Hotel is very close to the sea shore
Review 32:The hotel is in a spectacular location with superb views. It has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Also, the food served in the restaurant is very good.
Review 33:Hotel only half open,no resturant open for meals. Breakfast served in the reception area, as resturant being painted. We didnot expect this from a 4* hotel, and this partly open hotel, was not as specifled on your website. So Very dissapointed.
Review 34:Good location near to town, very clean, comftable room. Staff helpfull booking trips.
Review 35:We were a bit unlucky, next to the hotel in the mornings the workers drilled something...but it is not the fault of the hotel, of course!
Review 36:If you want to fall asleep to the murmur of the waves, there is no more beautiful place on Sicily, than that!
Review 37:The free parking is a big plus except it is dangerous to try to drive into the parking by oneself. Make sure to ask for help driving your car into the parking. The good location is a bit of a mixed blessing since many people party at the beach and can be heard till the late hours of the morning on week-ends.
Review 38:Excellent location right in front of the Faraglioni. Beautiful view of the sunrise. Good breakfast above continental breakfast level.
Review 39:Ultra chic lighting meant that you could not actually see the food on your plate once darkness fell! You need a very small car to get in and out of the underground car park.
Review 40:Unusual design Terrace restaurant and bar has a wonderful view Good food.
Review 41:Breakfast OK but not exciting. Cleaning staff need to pay more attention to detail, we had to request replacement shower gel on two occasions and other minor bits that should have been spotted.
Review 42:Wonderful location, we had the best room in the hotel with a double balcony overlooking the Cyclopes Rivera, staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 43:We paid a considerable amount as parking fine, because the staff didn't warn us about parking payment machines, the directions about parking was in Italian at street plates.
Review 44:A clean hotel with a good location close to sea; breakfast is good also.
Review 45:Parking was a problem (don't even try to park in the hotel car park with anything bigger than a Fiat 500!). Street parking was difficult, even in the off season. The continental breakfast was OK but nothing special. A water pipe had burst on our floor, close to our bedroom, and the gushing water kept us awake from 3am. But the problem was dealt with quickly the next morning.
Review 46:It was in a good position, just a 5 minute walk away from a lido with easy access to the beach. The beach along the coast is rocky with no sand, so it was worth paying 8 euros each at the lido for the day for easy access to the sea, loungers, umbrellas etc. We stayed in the hotel at the end of the season so it was almost empty, which was nice. The room was a good size, and the bathroom was fine. We were given a late check out, which was great, as we could shower etc before going off to the airport. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is a very convenient place to stay overnight if you are flying out of Catania Airport and it is within easy reach of Taormina too.
Review 47:The breakfast was nothing special. The same every day. No warm food. Just cereals, youghurts, different pastries, ham, cheese, eggs and a small selection of fruit. For me it was fine as I'm not a big eater, but two things really bothered me: an expired youghurt and having to wait for dishes and food since the two girls who were serving the breakfast weren't able to accomodate so many people at once. Hope that the hotel will do smth about it, since that is its only weak spot.
Review 48:Our stay at Faraglioni was wonderful. We booked a superior double room with a sea view. The room and the bathroom were quite large and well appointed, very nice balcony and the view is stunning. Hotel's staff is great. Everyone was very polite, friendly and responded immediately to every request. Special thanks to the cleaning ladies. I was a bit shocked at the beginning when I saw the beach, which actually was just a pier with sun beds and the steps to go down into the sea.For some reasons I expected it to be a sandy and not a rocky beach. But when I got used to the idea it was no longer a problem, and I was surprised with how clean the water was. Turned out that not many hotels in the area have their own pier. People who stay there have to go and lay on the rocks. Aci trezza is a very nice village with great people. There are a few food stores, pizzerias, coffee shops and many restaurants. And if you don't have a car and want to go shopping or sight seeing, you can take a bus to Catania, which stops a few blocks away from the hotel. The trip will take around 20-30 minutes.
Review 49:The worst thing is that there is an open air lounge bar in the same building and another bar next to it. So you hear the loud music in your room till 1-2 am almost every day, even with the windows closed. Very tiring. Another noise came at night from an outside motor (we did not discover the source: airco, generator ...). It was also very disturbing. But if you are not sensitive to noise at night it would not be a problem. The breakfast was modest but I understood it is the usual way in Sicily.
Review 50:The location was very good, next to the sea with own beach. Towels and parasols are provided for free for the hotel guests. Wi Fi and PC are for free. The room was spacious and clean. As the beach is a 'pier' and not a sandy one, there are no small children. The sea is clean and full of fish so take your snorkeling mask with you. Good and cheap restaurants nearby. You can get there from Catania by bus 534 (departs every hour and costs 1 EUR). The bus ride takes about 40-50 min if you step in at the Central station or Borsalino square in Catania.
Review 51:Rooms: ants, broken hand shower. Location: not very easy to access (dueto a lot one-way streets, which are very narrow). Garage: absolutelyunusable, it is extremely narrow. Parking place only for 4-5 cars. Aparking fee is payable at the blue lines painted on the street. Very-very-very loud: a bar on the first floor terrace of the hotel: right belowthe windows of the sea-view rooms; plus an additional bar next door tothe hotel. These exclude rest or sleeping. Overall, I do not recommendthis hotel for anyone.
Review 52:View from hotel room: excellent. Breakfast: poor for continental (only 1type of ham and cheese), but fair for Italian (several types ofpastries). The a/c worked. Free Wifi in the lobby (but not in therooms). A pc to use for free in the lobby.
Review 53:Very nice hotel, located directly at sea side with nice view if you get a room direction promenade. If you need a quit room choose a room to the back side of hotel. The hotel is surrounded by lounge bars. The personal is very kindly and helpful. Don´t miss to visit the old lighthouse of Aci Trezza (Capo Mulini, Il faro), there is a nice club with access to the sea and fantastic garden with sunbeds.
Review 54:Everything was excellent.
Review 55:Everything was excellent. We had a big well-designed room with comfortable bed and a lot of place, with two balconies. A bathroom contained shower and bath and it was quite big too. The view was fantastic. There are a lot of restaurants near the hotel, the surroundings are very beautiful. It's very interesting to swim in the water around the Cyclop Rocks because of it has very different underwater life. The hotel has it's own platform with beach-beds upon the rocky-beach. All places near Etna are made of vulcanic rocks so one should be careful when swimming. Near the hotel one can rent a catamaran or a kayak. The breakfast was various and tasty. The staff was excellent: they can solve your problem very fast and help you in a very different situations, they know a lot of languages and are very friendly. We strongly recommend this hotel to everyone. It's a perfect choise to have a romantic vacation.
Review 56:No shower curtain in the ample, well-appointed bathroom, which means getting water all over everything and risking falling down while going in and out of the bathroom after your shower. I'll never understand why hotels do that. It's such a simple fix.
Review 57:Location, location, location! Right across From the water. Quiet rooms in the back part of the hotel isolate you from any summer revelry that's going on outside. Or there are sea view rooms as well. Very nice place.
Review 58:For the price we paid and for the room we got, I must say I was not veryimpressed. Level of English was just ok, though enough to speak with.
Review 59:Location is perfect
Review 60:No parking available. The hotel lot is very difficult to access, even with a small car. After 2 days stay, we were made aware that another hotel nearby had a large underground parking lot for a fair price that was available to guests of the Hotel Faraglioni. Wish we knew that from the start! The night life starts at about 11pm, so if you don't like music and crowds, this is not the place for you.
Review 61:The room was large with a beautiful view! Staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 62:There was no place to lie out and relax as we were there in May.
Review 63:The staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are veryclean and there is a good choice of food for breakfast.
Review 64:Poor breakfast without fruit
Review 65:Faboulos position
Review 66:It was really great place for holiday & relaxation!
Review 67:Enjoyable relaxing holiday with hotel very close to excellent fish restaurants
Review 68:superb location with stunning sea views. the bedroom very spacious and well appointed(room 404) All the staff were very friendly and wanted to help.
Review 69:location
Review 70:It was quiet, clean and comfortable and in a great location.
Review 71:Difficult to go there by car even with GPS. Even more difficult to go away!
Review 72:Fantastic view over the sea from hotel balcony. Near to fishing habour.
