Reviews for Hotel Doupiani House
Review 1:Internet connection, too bad to stream anything. Breakfast was limited and no choice to order.
Review 2:Very clean hotel, with great views to the Meteora rocks. The staff very attentive and happy to assist. Reception area very well decorated with great furnitures and space.
Review 3:Great, charming place, friendly hosts, excelent location, tasty breakfast, nice rooms (two families with children, so we got upgraded rooms)....Warmly recommend!
Review 4:An amazing, very clean hotel in the best location in Meteora. The view is really incredible and the breakfast is delicious with local products. The staff is very polite and so helpful.
Review 5:We did not get the type of room we had booked for because the hotel was full. We were not informed of this prior to our arrival. The receptionist was not polite about it. We were finally (after being on the verge of leaving) offered a room that matched our requirements but was without a view (normally lower price). We still had to pay the price of a room with a view. The rest of the staff were very polite and helpful.
Review 6:Very nice location, comfortable rooms, beautiful hotel.
Review 7:If the town were only more fun to come back to after an arduous day of sight-seeing. (But only Nafpaktus is that, in my experience.) The hotel is excellent, quick to accommodate your special requests, reasonably good breakfast (poor coffee, fine yogurt and honey), and don't hesitate to scare up the owner for a nice nightcap (but not too late), Mastika, for instance, by the fireplace.
Review 8:The impresario here has a delightful, pleasant command of English; the room was excellent. This is a high-class hotel in a remote area. The view from your room is stunning. We are talking about huge, overwhelming high rocks on which Byzantine monasteries are built. (Meteora means extraordinary "heights.")
Review 9:Bad wi-fi (so bad) Costumer service needs to improve Comunication withcostumer should be better Problem solving attitude from the staffshould be better Do not trust on "meteora view room", thatmeans "car park view". You only have meteora view if you payfor "panoramic view". Heating wasn't exceptional (verycold in november)
Review 10:Location
Review 11:The location was fantastic. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. The breakfast was very good. The room was big, nice and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly!
Review 12:When I arrive the hotel, it's after 9:00pm. We are tired. And we could not find the reception. Then an old man come out and complained we changed many times about our credit card information by booking (actually only two times). No one help us on the heavy luggage, and there is no elevator. The room is not clean enough and full of flies. I killed 13 flies in one night and it makes me sick. The only smile we seen is when we check out, the reception told us "we need grade 10 in booking." No way!
Review 13:Wifi reception sucks
Review 14:The staff are very accommodating. You can leave bags for a few days once checked out. It's located a street away from main shopping street and a stones throw away from Acropolis. Their sister hotel down the road has an amazing view of the Acropolis. Well worth an evening visit.
Review 15:Spotty internet.
Review 16:Doupiani House was everything you could want. The breakfast was very good. The rooms and beds were comfortable. Our panoramic view was lovely. Perfect location to visit Meteora. We would definitely return to this hotel.
Review 17:Staff were brusk, didn't offer much when asked about the town or best way to visit the meteora and asked several times for a perfect review. The hotel as a whole is still a gem though.
Review 18:Great location, right underneath the meteora with a wonderful views from the room balconies and out front.
Review 19:Bed did not have a top sheet manager grumpy a bit rude when asking for ice Carpet next to bed rolled up on end, easy to cause a fall Restaurant not open even when place full
Review 20:Great location Very well built. Good views Close to monasteries. They organized a good guide
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:Very nice owner. Gave us a choice of rooms. Very clean room with nice balcony and comfy bed. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was good with good choice of items. Enjoyed our stay very much.
Review 23:On arrival we were taken to our room and curtly told breakfast hours as she walked out of the room, that's it. It would have been nice to be told about wifi etc.
Review 24:The large patio with views over meteora. Walking distance to restaurants.
Review 25:The location of Hotel Doupiani House at the base of the Meteora sandstone peaks is second to none. The property and gardens are extremely well kept and beautiful. The staff was friendly and eager to help answer all of our questions even going beyond to seek transportation for our group to our next destination. The balcony rooms had spectacular views and were always clean and fresh.
Review 26:It's a nice hotel, close to the meteors, very beautiful view. But the impression that will remain will be the extremely rude owner. When I asked him a yoghurt 2 minutes after the time that breakfast had finished he roughly replied: "finished, tomorrow". I was embarrassed by his rudeness. Breakfast is mediocre, under average , and wifi is poor despite many spotlights. I would have a better impression if it wasn't for this man who would be better retired and should leave the job for his employees . There are also many complaints made by others clients (watch reviews) I would never come back, and I could not propose it for my friends and booking.com. A Nice view is not enough when service is poor, especially when it comes from the owner. Check reviews. Go away, the spectacular view isn't exclusive of them.
Review 27:The vire from the room
Review 28:Beautiful location and very specious installations. Parking inside the hotel area. Wonderful terrace to enjoy the marvelous views of meteora. Absolutely a must if you come to Kastraki and Meteora.
Review 29:Shower head need fixing in 36 ..
Review 30:Everything was great ... The view is fantastic and hotel itself is very stylish .. Great breakfast and for this price it is a bargain
Review 31:At check-out I couldn't pay with my credit card because the machine was without signal for 2 days. I had to pay with money.
Review 32:The view is incredible, but it`s necessary to have a car to access restaurants and tourist attractions (if you have money, it`s possible to arrange a tour with the hotel, but I recommend rent a car and go by your self and explore the city).
Review 33:Yes, they have panoramic view, but this is the only think that they have. Unfortunately they don't have restaurant. It's very bad: to eat something in the evening with panoramic view you need to take your car and go to the city. Also they telling that because of local regulation it’s forbidden to use bath (only shower): but also in the evening they don’t have normal hot water even to use of the shower. Wi-Fi connection is extremely bad (it’s not about the speed - here everywhere internet is not good, but it’s unstable inside the hotel). This hotel is good to stay only for one night. But, as I think, value of money is bad: for this purpose there are many hotels that are two times cheeper (even with a view and included breakfast).
Review 34:Good location, they have free parking, nice interior of the rooms and hotel.
Review 35:Internet is terrible, weak connection that drops all the time. Walls are thin and tile hallways make every screaming kid and rolling suitcase echo into every room. Bathtubs but you can't take a bath because...it's forbidden by the mayor? Pretty funny, considering a long shower uses more water.
Review 36:Lovely hotel, beautiful decorations and it smells nice too! Very comfy beds, fluffy comforter and pillows. Good location for hiking but not good if you don't have a car, as it's way outside of town and the cafe only does breakfast (which is pretty tasty, one of the better hotel breakfasts I have had, good selection and fairly fresh)
Review 37:We loved everything about our stay, hotel was even better than expected. Location, staff, breakfast, cleanliness all were fantastic. Although WiFi signal was a little weak, we still survived. We had read reviews saying that cash had to be used to pay the account, this proved to be very wrong, are credit card was accepted without question. Very highly recommended to all.
Review 38:Breakfast was not the best. When items ran out they were not replaced, on the other hand the same scrambled eggs sat there for the entire breakfast.
Review 39:The views were stunning, of the Meteora and down the valley and the position so peaceful. It is out of town but, with a car, it is only a few minutes into Kalambaka and there are restaurants within walking distance. Spacious rooms. Staff were very attentive.
Review 40:Breakfast could be enhanced in variety... (A personal opinion:Apart from adding colour to the table I do not consider pickled vegetables any further suitable for breakfast...)
Review 41:I chose this hotel for the amazing view it has of Meteora rocks...It is located in quiet surroundings, along the main road going out of Kalambaka town and leading to the monasteries. It was dark when we arrived but there were many signs, navigating guests, so it was easy to find it ...The restaurant did not offer dinner, but we were advised of good nearby taverns...(Bring a torch, just in case...) Beds are very comfortable...There is a private parking and a wonderful garden...(A pity it rained) I would definitely stay again and recommend that you book in advance, since the hotel is a preferred accommodation (it was full ) because of the view - it is really amazing!
Review 42:One of the main female staff members at this hotel is either homophobic and particularly rude to me as a result or she is rude to everyone indiscriminately. I arrived for check in and handed my partner's passport (she made the booking). I was asked if we are a couple or friends. I was taken aback and said we are a couple. From that moment onwards, the hostess was so ridiculously rude - in the years of travelling we have done, we have come across grumpy hosts but never ones as rude as this. The hostess showed me to our room without any more words, opened the balcony said here you go and walked out. No map, no explanation of the area - none of the usual niceties. Her behaviour during our stay did not improve. We arrived for check out at 12:20 - 20 minutes past checkout time of midday. We walked into the hotel and she started tapping her watch like we were 2 hours late instead of 20 minutes. We are currently in the Zagori region of Greece - a tiny little town of 8 inhabitants and not a single one homophobic. Ridiculously embarrassing behaviour for this hotel - and for Greece.
Review 43:The hotel is located a little bit away from the main road to the monasteries. We didn't enjoy the breakfast, its was like day-old or I don't know what happened.
Review 44:The hotel is very beautiful, with well-done decorations. The room was very nice, comfortable, beautiful furniture, well furnished bath room. Well-appointed lobby. My esthetic senses were flattered. Fair view from the balcony. In the yard there were big happy siamese cats :) We needed an adhesive plaster for my damaged feet and somebody from the reception offered us some.
Review 45:Sound insulation, noisy alarm going all night, small rooms, ventilation not working in bathroom, lights that didnt work, poor quality Wifi.
Review 46:The view, location, breakfast.
Review 47:The location was perfect. Close to the monasteries and the view from the Hotel Terrace whilst having breakfast was a delight. The hotel itself and its furnishing are very nice and the staff were very pleasant. You really can appreciate a place like this.
Review 48:Most of the staff was very helpful and accommodating. However, one of the owners was at times not very approachable. A more pleasant attitude on his part would have been welcome.
Review 49:We had a room with balcony overlooking the mountains.. The room and hotel were very tastefully decorated. Beds were comfortable.
Review 50:Our stay was just perfect. The staff is very friendly and always smiling, the room very nice and clean, the bed extremely comfortable, the view and location great!
Review 51:WiFi is not strong and depends on your being close to reception. Once fruit salad for the breakfast was sour but they only took away our plate and did not change the whole bowl which went on staying on the breakfast table till the end of the breakfast. It is 5-10 minutes walk to reach some tavernas where you can it but it is worth going to Kalabaka instead and to have lunch there.
Review 52:The staff was very hopeful. The territory of the hotel is cosy with a lot of flowers and the terrace for breakfast. The view is really impressive.
Review 53:Our first room was small, we changed it to triple room which is bigger. Breakfast was average.
Review 54:Panoramic hotel rooms have faboulous view. Breakfast place also has very good view.
Review 55:Most importantly: in the checking the hotel staff after reading outloud that we had reserved a room with a view, took to a room with a view to the parking and told us that you "could see the view" from one place in the balcony...not very pleasent feeling. Missunderstanding with the hotel staff lead to the point that we,a couple with a small kid, had to sleep in one bed made from two single beds- not a very comfortable night. Breakfasts is nice but no vegetables ( which we like very much ).
Review 56:Nice looking hotel. From one side of it you have greate view. There is a nice place to seat out side front of the view. Good location
Review 57:Arriving by foot at night (i.e. without the benefit of car headlights) the signs for the hotel were not easy to see.
Review 58:Beautiful traditional hotel with great views and comfortable rooms. As one of the most remote hotels in Meteora it is peaceful and has great views of the stars at night
Review 59:this hotel has the best location in Meteora area, right on the thresh of the monastery route. the vew from the garden and balcony of our room were superb. friendly and jelpfull owners.
Review 60:There is nothing you could not like about this hotel
Review 61:Thank you for a great stay at your wonderful hotel. Prefect in every way. Rooms were fantastic and very friendly helpful staff who could do enough to help
Review 62:The wifi is slow
Review 63:The owner was very helpful and warmth. He is always available at the hotel to give us valuable suggestions on good and cheap restaurants and other things. The location is definitely a quite and peaceful place that allows one to relax and have a paranomic view to see the super big rock. It's a wonderful stay and worth the money.
Review 64:Nothing, it was a very nice place
Review 65:The location of the Hotel is superb and the view incredible. The rooms were clean and personal were very friendly. Overall very nice.
Review 66:Was nothing not to like!
Review 67:Staff was very friendly and helpful. the view was amazing as well as the location. room was just as we expected. Breakfast was very good as well.
Review 68:We booked a meteora view room and we got a garden view that if you looked to the right you could see 1 of the rocks, definitely not what we thought of a "meteora view" when we booked the room.
Review 69:The staff was helpful and the hotel was very clean. The room was ok
Review 70:I feel like the clerk tried to pull a fast one on check-out. The internet was "out" in the morning we checked out, and I suspect that the staff was trying to get me to pay cash instead of using a credit card. I had to ask three times before she called someone and got the OK to run my card. She wouldn't even attempt it before. Also, I saw into the manager's office and saw him surfing the internet while this was going on.
Review 71:All of the major things were there and were great - parking, A/C, comfortable bed, etc. Internet worked at night, but not in the morning.
Review 72:We loved our stay here and would definitely book this facility again. Located right under the rocks providing stunning views and time to relax and just enjoy the beautiful scenery. The stuff was very friendly and provided us with all necessary information. Breakfast were also amazing and very rich, you can enjoy your breakfast on the terrace outside and enjoy the sunrise. You can get here by taxi from Kalambaka, it costs only 6 EUR from train station. It is definitely worth it to stay in Kastraki instead of Kalambaka.
Review 73:Room is quite small for 4 persons. But for one single night it was ok.
Review 74:Beautiful hotel. Staff is very nice and friendly. Amazing view from the room. Nice breakfast
Review 75:The wifi cuts out a lot, and is frustrating if you're trying to dosomething needing a constant internet flow.
Review 76:This hotel is great...have stayed here 3 times and will stay there againwhenever we go to Meteora. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast isamazing (you must try their home-made Greek yogurt) and the hotel is ina good location if you like hiking around, and the rooms are good, clean, and comfortable. Nice decorations, nice bathrooms, wonderfulpublic patio and lounge area. Recommend this very much!
Review 77:Air condition was insufficient. Water pressure in the shower was also insufficient. I could not have a comfortable bath.
Review 78:View and the breakfast was nice. There was no parking problem for our car.
Review 79:Blocked air condition filters that we had to clean.
Review 80:A great hotel facing meteora. Lovely staff. Good beds and showers. Very good breakfest serving outside with marvelous view.
Review 81:The shower was an interesting experience but there was plenty of hot water.
Review 82:The location was perfect. It was nice not to be right in the middle of the villages. We had stunning views from our private balcony. There was air con and the breakfast buffet was lovely.
Review 83:- Location : aprox. 5 min. by car from Meteora - Breakfast : sweet fruits, warm bread, creamy greek yogurt and nice coffee - Decoration : clean and nice furniture
Review 84:Just poor Wi-Fi (like the other hotels in Greece where we stayed).
Review 85:It is as good as the photos look. The location is breathtaking, and the hotel is furnished superbly. My wife was very impressed - which is saying a lot.
Review 86:Poor Internet conectivity, although the wifi was present all around the hotel.
Review 87:One of the best locations for a hotel in Meteora, with an exceptional view to Meteora and Doupiani rocks. Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Review 88:Lacks some "happy" atmosphere. Kids would have preferred some recreational options in the hotel. Additional local vegetables could add to the breakfast
Review 89:Great view of Meteora. Good location. Probably one of the best choices near Meteora. Overall - very good!
Review 90:The B&B is located in a breathtaking spot, with awesome views. Quaint little restaurants within walking distance. A wonderful staff across the board, very eager to help! The only down side that "may" exist is if they are still providing info on the balloon tour with out letting the customer know they may not get what they pay for. Olympic Executive has nice friendly people working for/with them, but It is pricey and does not provide what they offer! We may have scrutinized booking that tour a little more with out the backing of the B&B. I'm sure the balloon tour offers the B&B a kickback or commission on all the booking that go through them... So I hope that they stay on top of that! Other wise a perfect B&B
Review 91:Slow wifi in peak hours.
Review 92:Excelente location in the Meteora gate. Incredible vienes from the Room and the terrace. Complete breakfast. Excelent to rest. Close to all taverns and 10 min to Kastraki center.
Review 93:The wifi is not working well in the room and the breakfast is basic.
Review 94:The staff are very nice and helpful. The location is super with great views. The room is very clean.
Review 95:AC could not cope. Bathroom fittings broken. No ice !!! No cold water. No small snacks. Breakfast awful with tinned fruit salad which I have not seen since the seventies. Beautiful summer fruit available everywhere.
Review 96:The view
Review 97:Only issue was comfort of rollaway bed in room for son, not comfortable for him, but the regular beds were great.
Review 98:The entire experience here was excellent. The hotel location is the best in the area. The view is beautiful, the grounds are relaxing and whole ambiance of the hotel is just amazing. Would have loved to stay more. Best bathroom in the 2 week europe trip.
Review 99:The only problem was the roll away bed in the room, uncomfortable for my son
Review 100:Loved the Hotel, the location, the grounds were beautiful and relaxing, the view was amazing, the best bathroom in the 2 weeks in Europe we spent. Would go back and spend more time there.
Review 101:The air conditioning wasn't as effective.
Review 102:Amazing location - right in the heart of meteora with some of the monasteries within walking distance. We took a hike early in the morning to panoramic viewpoint and crossed three monasteries - Agios Nikolas, Varlaam, Great Meteoro, Roussanou.
Review 103:They feed the cats in the same area where the people are having their breakfast. My son loves the cats and he was playing with one of the them and the guy that was feeding them was rude - he said to my son "Go away". The bathroom is very inconvenient and you will be unable to take a normal shower without flooding the floor.
Review 104:The view is amazing.
Review 105:The water temperature in the shower was frequently cold and with little pressure and sometimes no water came at out at all. We were instructed by the staff to call downstairs and they would tell us to wait 10 mintues and it would be hot and have pressure shortly after we called each time. Also the Wi- Fi would go off and on frequently in our room. In the morning we frequently were woken by noise from other guests starting at around 7:30Am by the sounds of voices in the hallway, rolling sounds of their suitcases, and the noise of their chairs moving back and forth on their balconies. At breakfast the orange juice was horrible, not sweet , and the eggs were runny.
Review 106:The hotel was decorated really pretty in a old world style, with really beautiful furniture and decorations and everything looked clean and new!!The location was great with outstanding views of Meteora. The staff was very nice and helpful with travel advice for the sights.
Review 107:The wifi doesn't work
Review 108:The view was incredible. Reasonably priced. Beautiful garden and setup, friendly staff. Breakfast was offered which was good.
Review 109:Great location, close to monasteries (one is in walking distance). Very clean, comfortable and quite place. Extremely helpful staff, very good breakfast. Great management. Get the room with balcony and view.
Review 110:We were disappointed with the view from our room ... but remedied by going to the front garden for a coffee whenever we had the chance. Breakfast choice is limited.
Review 111:The front garden is lovely and view of meteora is excellent. Excellent parking facilities. Very nice lobby decor.
Review 112:We have stayed in Doupiani for two nights. The hotel's location is perfect for a climb up the rocks of Meteora. The hotel is run by the most hospitable family we have ever met. We felt at home. The room was perfect, the beds comfortable, breakfast varied and delicious. We would like to thank Theonasis, Toula and Sotos for making us feel at home!!! Will definitely visit again!!! Highly recommended!!!
Review 113:Don't be fooled, many rooms do not have a good view on Meteora.Either pay extra for the panorama view or lower your expectations. Also, the hotel's open wifi networks often will NOT work. Fortunately there's an easy solution: there also is a protected wifi network, which did work well. It's just a pity that I discovered it at the end of my stay, nobody told me about it.
Review 114:The hotel's location at a kilometre (if it is that much) of thefirst monastery is gorgeous. While the view from my room was verydisappointing, the view from the hotel's terrace is exquisite. Also, for the more adventurous, the hotel is located right at the beginning ofa small path that leads you to the backside of the Great Meteoramonastery, a 1.5-2 hour walk through the wonderful area that is Meteora, but without any other tourist in sight. Until you reach the monasteryitself, that is. (Note: highly recommended, but not easy to find withoutgps and the map you can ask at the reception)My single room was really small, but clean and equipped as was promised. No positive, but also no negative suprises about that.
Review 115:A nice place location is very good. We ordered a room for 4 and it was small ( compare to the other places we stayed in Greece) so we were disapointed from our stay. the breakfast is OK but... the view is astonishing good for couple or family which takes 2rooms
Review 116:Everything was fantastic!
Review 117:My wife and I loved the location, view of the mountains from our balcony, the breakfast, and the staff. We were more than happy with this hotel.
Review 118:An electronic pot would be very helpful
Review 119:Amazing location, everyday clearing, good old styled furniture. The view from the balcony is amazing. Best stay in Meteora
Review 120:Breakfast should have broader selection of food. There was no fresh baked pastries and no fruits. Breakfast is overpriced for quality.
Review 121:Room and bathroom are ok and very well equiped. Wi-fi worked very well. Ask for room with the view to the rocks of Meteora. Free parking at the site. Good ratio of quality and price.
Review 122:Unfriendly strange atmosphere, Bed and pillow ( only single lumpy pillow) and wifi worse in our three weeks in Greece.
Review 123:great views and location at meteora
Review 124:No elevator, so if you have a heavy suitcase, make sure you travel with someone who can help you up the stairs. There are ground floor rooms, but the nicest views are upstairs.
Review 125:Location, quiet, view--all magnificent.
Review 126:Awesome view of Meteora. Quiet. Away from the main street full of hotels. Rooms are in great shape. Option for breakfast outdoors with the awesome view.
Review 127:Nothing negative about this place
Review 128:This hotel was magnificent. We went to Zagori for our Honeymoon in May 2015. The staff were extra friendly and helped us on our quest for the hiking trails, good restaurants, and other lookouts of the Gorge. They gave us complimentary pastries upon arrival and helped with our bags. The rooms are just like the pictures. Amazingly decorated ceilings and comfy beds. The town is very quiet and relaxing. Stay here for sure
Review 129:It's a bit of a walk from the bus station, but when we arrived, we were so happy we'd chosen to stay here. The terrace has an absolutely stunning panoramic view of Meteora, and watching the sunset with a glass of wine was a perfect way to end a day of exploring the monasteries. The staff were friendly and helpful, the building gracious and the breakfast delicious.
Review 130:No elevator and no help carrying up baggage.
Review 131:The staff telephoned my prearranged guide for me and was always eager to help. The breakfast was high quality and it was delightful to eat on the terrace. Very nice accommodations and a perfect location.
