Reviews for Casa Cordati

Review 1:We were warmly welcomed and helped with our luggage. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with amazing views and close to great restaurants. The second floor of the house is an art gallery and we thoroughly enjoyed looking at the paintings and reading about the artist who was the Grandfather of our friendly host.

Review 2:N/a

Review 3:A pearl!! Great feeling of really being in Italy. Location perfect. Giordano, the proprietor, an excellent host. Warmly recommend this place. You won't regret. Barga itself a fantastic place with some good walks.

Review 4:Giordano was extremely helpful , polite and accommodating . The view from our window was wonderful. The room was large and comfortable. Excellent value for money.

Review 5:Their was no air conditioner and you have to climb three flights of stairs with you luggage. Parking is outside the inner city.

Review 6:The owner must be the friendliest person alive and the place is beautiful. Our room was huge almost and entire loft house for the two of us with lounge study kitchen private bathroom, balcony. Even a communal area with couches and their is the museum and the covered roof terrace. You are 5 min walk from numerous restaurants. the owner carried my fiancé's suitcase up the first night and down the next morning. He was always available and even walked us to the garden with our own private access and key. Absolutely fantastic.

Review 7:The hotel is so unique and stunning, with artwork all around the building. The photos of this hotel do not do it justice. It is fantastic value for money. I would highly recommend.

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:Loved everything about staying here and we will definitely be staying again. Owner was lovely, the rooms were bright, airy, cool and clean, the location was fab - would highly recommend.

Review 10:Wonderful house with all this amazing art!! the room had a nice wiew over the wood in front of the city. The aboloute most special and nice stay at our Italy-trip! If we go back to Italy, this is a must!

Review 11:The owner was really friendly and the rooms were comfortable, with a great view of the surrounding hills. But the star of the show is the place itself, a museum filled with interesting objects, including a piano, hammocks, and artwork.

Review 12:Beautiful hotel, as if you live in the past, loved the art gallery. Hotel is in a perfect location, huge room, great value for money, couldn't ask for better. I was a bit worried that it had no breakfast, but it turned out better as we were having breakfast at local cafés, which was lovely. We will definitely stay there again

Review 13:What an amazing place. Full of history and family art. We were allowed to wander through this very large house at will. Our favourite place was the studio at the top that overlooked fascinating views. This is not a pristine , 5 star, Hotel thankfully but it oozes with character! Be prepared to leave your vehicle outside of the old town and explore the place on foot!

Review 14:Perfect location, unpretentious but adequate self catering apartment accommodation in a beautiful building with access to a wonderful museum of paintings, a library, music room and roof terrace. Considerate and entertaining host. Completely unique, an absolute treasure.

Review 15:We found casa cordati steeped in history and to share freely Giordano's grandfather's art very special more so whilst doing our own family reseach.Views to die for in our large comfortable room.A real bonus to have our laundry done.Excelllent location and value for money . Definitely recommended.

Review 16:nothing. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Review 17:The price, the size of the rooms, the location, the in-suite wifi router, the kitchenette in the room, the crazy murals on the walls.

Review 18:Lucca was disappointing. A lovely city to look at but not much happening. Prices seemed inflated here.

Review 19:Easy to get to wherever you want to be in Barga. Good, cheap bus service to Lucca if required. Friendly and helpful owner. Nothing is too much trouble, even a lift to the train station in the early hours. Plentiful bars and restaurants in easy reach- all with excellent food at reasonable prices. Ice cream alone worth the trip. Scenery was fantastic.

Review 20:The only downside, and reason for lack of sleep, was the church bells which rang every 15 minutes, even thru the night.

Review 21:Interesting and unusual venue, as it's a gallery and museum as well as rooms. Giordano was courteous and helpful. Great location, easy to find in the labyrinth of alleyways. Wonderful views.

Review 22:If you don't like the smell of an old building... Noisy crowd after 1 a.m. In the streets could influence sleep in one of the two rooms.

Review 23:Fantastic, great place, old building with standing. Great city center.

Review 24:Casa Cordati is perfectly located within the old city walls of Barga. The house is centuries old & includes unique opportunities forguests wishing to immerse themselves in the old charm & romance ofBarga, not least the permanent art exhibition of the owners grandfatherBruno Cordati who is famous in Tuscany and my son informed me a part ofthe Scottish schools art syllabus. Your host Giordano is both custodianto the unique art treasures which amazingly include in its open toguests, huge music room with an unbelievable collection of literallyworks but my own delight was the bluthner piano and countless vinylalbums quite literally a ton of seemingly un-played Bach, Beethoven,Chopin, you name it !! Colossal collection, as with the art collection -free to guests to peruse and finally, Giordano's other duties, hotelmanager, a true gentleman always with a smile and willing to do anythingto make your stay memorable....My son and I shall definitely bereturning and feel we both discovered a magical old Tuscan house andmade a new friend.

Review 25:A place with a great sense of history, it really is a night in a museum. We had a free run of the museum rooms and were astounded at the amount of artefacts on show. The location is great- just tucked inside the walls of old Barga town.

Review 26:An unusual and fascinating location, great views from roof terrace and excellent value for money with a friendly and helpful host. Perfect for our 2 nights in Barga

Review 27:absolutely nothing to dislike cant imagine anyone would find anything to complain about only thing I didnt like was I couldnt stay longer! :(

Review 28:EVERYTHING! :) The fantastic location in the old town The amazing (spacious) room I had with fantastic views Giordano the owner couldnt have been more helpful - picked me up from the train station - much appreciated! He even managed to get me a ticket for the Stevie wonder concert in Lucca! thats servcie for you! Location to everything was great - everything on the door step Extremely good value for money

Review 29:Casa Cordati is in the heart of Barga. The room was spacious and the whole house was charming with excellent decor and art by the late artist Bruno Cordati. The view from my room was amazing! Great price, I highly recommend

Review 42:A unique place to stay. The value for money was exceptional as I stayed in a suite of 2 of the largest rooms and bathroom I ve ever spent a night in.

Review 43:The location and views from our room were amazing. Friendly and helpful owner

Review 44:A cool, quirky place with a wonderful host, Giordano.

Review 45:WiFi did not work after 1 day. The owner could not solve the problem.

Review 46:The admosphere and the sevice from the owner.

Review 47:Casa Cordati is a wonderful place to stay. The value is incredible and the host, Giordano, is the best. The old Palazzo is lovely and doubles as an art exhibit/museum of paintings done by the host's grandfather. You can walk to several great restaurants, the Barga Jazz Club and other places, very convenient. Casa Cordati is a beautiful place, I would move in forever if I could.

Review 48:Our stay at Casa Cordati was wonderful, waking up every morning with stunning views of beautiful Barga made my day.would love to return. Wonderful host.

Review 49:Friendly owner. Lovely old building and museum. Located in the old town. Enormous room, (about 7x8 metres) with sitting area and dining table, tea/coffee making facilities (including a proper Italian espresso machine). Cutlery and crockery.

Review 50:Great location, right in the center of the old town. The owner is awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable. The apartment rooms are huge, and the bed is comfortable. The kitchen was large and well-equipped, including a stove with 4 burners and an oven.

Review 51:1. Please be sure to locate the place on the map beforehand and double prove that - it's impossible to drive to the house and navigation systems can easily mislead you (as in our case - we had to lose 1.5-2 hours, though it was a late dark afternoon, like 23-24).2. Please find some outside parking - the best idea is park beyond the white lines as it's public and always free. I found some parking next to some office/commercial building (2 store yellow brick one before the bridge). After having parked you may have to climb some narrow paths for some 10 minutes or so - be sure to consider this as well.3. In our bathroom the ceiling right above the shover was dangerously low because of the staiways - if you are taller than 170-180 it may be a challenge.4. Despite Giordano is very nice, I would not recommend arriving late in the afternoon and when it's dark specifically as you might need help in your pedestrian navigation (and the host may fall asleep as well! =)))1.

Review 52:A very nice old town high in the mountains worth of visiting as a part of one's Italy tour. The place itself is nice and kind of culturally penetrating as most of this huge old house has been preserved at least since the begining of the last century. However, everythin is clean and the stay is comfortable. This accomodation is located in the very heart of the town's old part which is convenient. Giordano's favor to let you visit upstairs of the house may be a very astonishing experience for you especially if you are a photographer. The rooms are very spacious, bathroom and kitchen are OK, it's warm, etc., so overall this place can be recommended.

Review 53:Nothing.

Review 54:The location could not be better, and Giordano, our host, was so gracious and helpful. His home is a treasure, very spacious and comfortable and historic. Would highly recommend to travelers going to Barga.

Review 55:Could not stay longer

Review 56:This is a Totally Unique experience located in the heart of the old city, sleeping among incredible works of art you feel privileged to be here. The welcome is unrivaled and warm. Ok this is not a standard corporate robot hotel, so if that is what you want then stay away. But if you want peace, tranquility, and unbeatable value for money then this is a must.

Review 57:Casa Cordati is the perfect location at a very good price. It's old worldly but don't let that put you off. There is everything you need for your stay I would recommend to my friends.

Review 58:It's hard to describe this without an inflationary use ofsuperlatives, but I will give it a try. Everybody with at least a littlesense for romance or nostalgia will love this place. It's basicallya museum that offers rooms to stay in. The rooms itself were large, tastefully decorated and despite the age of the house well equipped (afridge) and clean and offered a great view over Barga and the Garfagnanamountains. The location of the house was very good, close to goodrestaurants and shops and the owner a very friendly and hearty guy whospoke excellent English. In short: the most exciting place I have everstayed in. I would love to come back one day.

Review 59:difficult to find slightly longer more horizontal routes to walk if at all unable for climbing. our appartment for 4 would not have been suitable for any more than 2 unless family cos bathroom was through the 1 bedroom. Shower was not high enough to allow tall people shower in comfort though fine for snitches like me.

Review 60:Barga is a lovley place to wander around. casa cordati was well placed in the town right beside a really good restaurant. S... Our appartment had great views from the really spacious bedroom. High ceilings and interesting. The place was a shrine to the owner's grandfather Bruno Cordati which creates its own atmosphere.

Review 61:We did not dislike anything

Review 62:Being able to stay in centre of this old town in one of its finest old mansion houses. There was also additional charm in that we were able toexplore the artwork of the owners grandfather Cordati as the property contains his gallery.

Review 63:No complaints at all.

Review 64:A spacious, comfortable apartment. Has all you'll need for a week ortwo visit to Northern Tuscany. Barga is a very nice small town and makesa great base for day trips through the region. Several excellentrestaurants in town should serve all tastes.

Review 65:Casa Cordati is a large historic building, a glorious house filled withlots of history. We were warmly welcomed even though we arrived late atthe hotel due to driving all day. Our room was huge and had everything(and more) than we needed. The beds were comfortable, we had lovelyviews from both front and back windows. Our host, the grandson of thefamous Italian artist Bruno Cordati kindly invited us to look around thegallery containing the artists original works, incredible! We were alsofree to view the covered roof terrace where Bruno Cordati had paintedfrescoes on the walls. Our stay in Barga was certainly enhanced by thewarmness of our host, the close proximity for good restaurants, lovelyambles through arched medieval streets, the locals (a surprising numberof British) and of course the famous Italian ice cream. I wouldrecommend this hotel to anyone as it is such a unique experience to getso much for so little. A very happy Franki Aston

Review 66:Very convenient in the old town centre. A unique Tuscan experience. The owner is a pleasant, helpful, cultured man.

Review 72:This is a fantastic place to stay, probably the best I have ever stayed in full of character, individual touches absolutely loved it!!!

Review 73:The gas cooker was a bit difficult to light

Review 74:Space and comfy bed

Review 75:Very quirky accommodation, amazing views from room. Huge room with good facilties. Very interesting place & helpful owner

Review 76:Basic facilities.

Review 77:Great charming place. My room was a fully furnished apartment (~40square meters).
