Reviews for Hotel Kastraki

Review 1:Poor variety of cable television stations. Shower stall had no door.

Review 2:Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Nice, substantial architecture of building.

Review 3:The hotel is very clean, positioned on the access road to the monasteries. Beds were comfortable, probably the best mattresses we slept on in Greece. we had a small balcony facing the mountains, it was very cute to sit on and enjoy the view.

Review 4:There was four of us so the family room was a bit small and the showers where small an awkward to get in and out of as they where elevated which you could slip over if you lost your balance

Review 5:Probably the closest accommodation to the monasteries ,you would still need a car as its all up hill unless your an avid walker, really helpful staff on where to go and how to get to the monasteries ,nice comfortable rooms.

Review 6:A lovely family-run hotel with very comfortable, large rooms in an amazing setting. The staff were really friendly, polite and provided very useful information of the area

Review 7:Breakfast was good but there was no vegtables. beside that, the food was good and tasty.

Review 8:!!!Great view of meteora Very clean and comfortable. Itws a family hotel and the stuff were very warm and helpful and help us make resevation for outside activities. I would recomend this place to all my freinds.

Review 9:The breakfast was mediocre; specifically, the pastries would have been much improved if they had been warm.

Review 10:The hotel is beautiful, located slightly outside the city itself.

Review 11:Lovel panorama room with balcony. The young lady Fosso vas very helpfull and kind and spoke good english. She also gave us good tips about the hiking paths.

Review 12:the wifi was a little unreliable in our room. they're working on it and in other areas the reception was fine

Review 13:great view of the cliffs and monasteries, see the photo I took from our room

Review 14:Nothing about the hotel however we would recommend the short drive to Kalambaka for dinner when it is low season as we found locally had a very limited choice and quite expensive for the quality of food.

Review 15:The hotel is in a great location with stunning views and the monasteries are all just a short drive away. Helpful advice provided by hotel staff in relation to the monasteries and best times to visit. Good breakfast and wifi.

Review 16:Staff very helpful with great recommendations for sight seeing in the area. Lovely room with balconey looking out towards monasteries. On site car parking.

Review 17:The bathrooms were quite small, especially for space-hogging Americans like me. Breakfast, although having many options, was only satisfactory. Especially the pastries, which were slightly stale. Parking got slightly scarce, but we luckily got the last spot available for our rental car. Oh, and the WiFi is definitely spotty.

Review 18:Great great location to the monastaries. The newly remodeled rooms very quaint, beds were comfy, and the decor had character. The view of the Meteora mountains were breathtaking! And breakfast had plenty of options. They were extremely accommodating with our 4am arrival as well. Booking.com made it easy to communicate this with them.

Review 19:The location was perfect for visiting the monasteries. The women at the front desk were beyond helpful and the room was perfect. Best hotel we've stayed at while travelling around Greece.

Review 20:Walking down from Meteora after sunset is not very safe sometimes. Recommend to rent a car or taxi service.

Review 21:Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice breakfast.

Review 22:The shower area could do with a curtain/door. The bathroom got a little wet because it wasn't covered. Breakfast could include some hot items too.

Review 23:Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room.

Review 24:The crowds at the monasteries get out of control. Follow the directions of the girl at the desk and visit them in the order she tells you for a better experience.

Review 25:First off, this hotel is absolutely beautiful and has the nicest staff of any place I stayed over the course of a two week trip all around Greece. The location is perfect for visiting the monasteries and there are good restaurants nearby. The breakfast at the hotel was some of the best food I had in Greece.

Review 26:Not as competitive as other hotels with evening meals and beverages. Wi-Fi very very spotty and reception was actually poor to inadequate much of the time. Cost was very reasonable for the accommodations but could be a little more competitive with minor perk or improved tourist information availability. Location was not convenient to other tourist facilities but the view was great and it was closer to the monasteries than many other sites.

Review 27:Clean comfortable room with great view. Terrific breakfast, friendly staff, esp Frosus, the young receptionist. She really made the stay a pleasure. English skills of the other staff were below what I was used to in Greece but that's more MY problem than not but some form of translation help might be great to have at the front desk (phrase sheet or computer translator).

Review 28:Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay and a true Greek, cultural experience. Fantastic location in walking distance to the monasteries and great eateries.

Review 29:nothing particularly.

Review 30:The lady at the reception was great, helped us to find tour & walking around it. The room had balcony which is nice to sit & relax after long day. Room was very modern (old style?) yet very welcoming, loved it!

Review 31:Not just your regular continental breakfast -- spanakopita and other Greek homemade pies, wonderful yogurt, variety of egg fare, juices and tasty fruit. Has the old hotel vibe without the mold :) All clean. Tasty photos and pictures in hallways. Very, very comfy. Balcony view to the Meteora. Enthusiastic staff, useful information. Very pleasant.

Review 32:The location, the wonderful architecture of the hotel, the view from the balcony. It is very close to the point of interest, Meteora. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Review 33:From the first moment we have arrived we were welcomed in a nice way, the lady in the reception always smiled and was really helpful she helped us book a tour to meteora with an amazing guide dimitirs lytoris and we had a great time! The hotel is beautiful with a great view comfy bad, great breakfast. thanks for a lovely time!

Review 34:This hotel is a pearl hidden in Meteora. One of the best places I have ever stayed. Great staff (a family hotel), beautiful rooms and lobby, very comfortable, and in the best possible location, just behind the mountains of Meteora.

Review 35:Wish the room had been cooled before we arrived.

Review 36:Best view in meteora from our balcony!! We enjoyed sitting on ourbalcony, taking in the amazing scenery, and we were surprisinglycomfortable in the afternoon, because the sun was on the opposite sideof the hotel. The wonderful family who manages the hotel made us feel like family. They let us use a local tour guidebook to enhance our exploring, and even surprised us with a tray of Greek treats! Authentic Greek hospitality!

Review 37:nothing worth to mention

Review 38:Absolutely everything. It was our first day in Ellada. We travelled with two older sons and baby-girl. The village and Meteora itself not only not deceive our expectations, but exceeded them. One of the most impressive sites on the planet to our mind, we met a sunrise in the right place thanks to a very nice host girl who gave us absolutely clear and useful instructions what to do, where and when to go. The rooms were very nice and stylish and extremely clean and comfortable, including very good beds and matrasses. The baby cot was ready and nice/ Not to mention the breathtaking view from the window to mountains that are different all next moment. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was great, delicious and varied for every taste. The taverna for dinner that also was recommended was trully fabulous and authentic. The Greek salade we ate there for first time in Greece was the best one even after . We will happy to return to Kastraki hotel again and We'll recommend it to all friends. Thanks a lot, Kastraki!!

Review 39:The breakfast could have been more versatile, with local fruit, vegetables and pastry - or even an omelette or scrabled eggs.

Review 40:The location was ideal, along the road to the great monastery. A very nice taverna just across the street. Clean, aesthetic, working A/C, clearly has been properly managed for decades. Yes, the rooms really are quite soundproof and peaceful.

Review 41:liked everything..

Review 42:Loved the receptionist and the service.. they were like a family...they prepared us breakfast in the morning since we were leaving early. arranged for cabs for us... everything... highly recommended just for the service... the property is old but the service will make sure you don't notice it :)

Review 43:The rooms are a little bit old fashioned. The bathroom are very simple and plain.

Review 44:The stuff is very welcoming and helpful. Especially charming Efrossyni

Review 45:Location is in the entrance to Metaora, less than 5 min drive. The staff was helpful and nice. The breakfast was excellent with nice traditional homemade food.

Review 46:Air conditioner in our room could use a service.

Review 47:Incredible staff and location. The staff was so attentive and helpful, they helped guide us through our stay and gave great suggestions.

Review 48:This is a very cute and very cozy hotel a close walk away from several good restaurants. The staff was very welcoming and very sweet. it is a family owned hotel and they treat all theyre guests very well. for anyone going to meteora i would definently recomend this hotel as the best one to stay at. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was very good and clean.

Review 49:This was a fantastic hotel. It was clean, had reliable internet, had a good breakfast, great location right at the base of the road to the monasteries, and a very, very helpful, kind staff. I would highly recommend staying here during your trip to Meteora. Also eat at their family's taverna. It was the best one we went to in town and had the best moussaka I've yet to try!

Review 50:Manageress is excellent, so helpful for everything we needed. Location is perfect for walking all of the monasteries. A nice comfortable clean hotel with good wifi.

Review 51:A very nice and well appointed hotel, good design, everything is new, great view (we had an upgraded room). The fireplace must come very handy during snowy winters. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was alright and we probably just had to ask for what we wanted, since there were very few people staying at the time, so we could not have expected a huge fest, but it had all the essentials. The town is a good place to stop when visiting Delphi, has several good dining options and is a short drive away from Delphi. Overall we loved our stay at the hotel and would come back any day.

Review 52:Good location. The breakfast was very good, good quality and diverse options. They had something special too: homemade cookies which were delicious. Also the staff was helpful and friendly, they helped us with all that we needed.

Review 53:We missed having tea & coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 54:The service from staff was a very high standard. The atmosphere of the hotel is quite homely. The location is ideal for traveling to the monesteries.

Review 55:A few minor issues during our stay:- the wi-fi only worked when Fosse came on duty. The bathroom floor always got extremely wet due to the lack of a shower curtain. This made it very dangerous stepping out of the shower.

Review 56:Kastraki Hotel is nicely furnished and the decor pleasing. The family who run the hotel understand the importance of good customer service and this shows. A special thank you to the younger Efrosyni (Fosse) who made our stay so enjoyable. Without her, it would not be the same Hotel. Would definitely visit again.

Review 57:Rooms with view were nice but road noise

Review 58:Clean and comfortable with great breakfast. Fruit and wine in room really appreciated plus advice from reception re area

Review 59:If you're looking for a room with a view quite a few rooms don't have one (this didn't bother us as we had amazing views all day long whilst we were out!). No surface to put anything on in the bathroom, which was basic but very clean.

Review 60:For the price and star rating this hotel is excellent. Our room was comfortable, the cleanliness faultless and the service from the reception desk exceptional. The breakfast was as good as you'll get and the family own the taverna down the road which serves tasty grilled food. The location is also very convenient and much more picturesque than Kalambaka. I would choose this hotel again.

Review 61:the hotel isn't located in the city centre but it's only a short drive (~ 5mins) so it's better for people looking for a mor peaceful location

Review 62:Hotel was clean and the staff were friendly, the receptionist was very helpful in providing us with tips of places to see and restaurants to eat at

Review 63:Nothing! Even wifi was perfect!

Review 64:The hotel is very near to Meteora, and there are good restaurants in front of the hotel. The breakfast does not have many choices but is really delicious and there are always home made pies which are very tasteful. The hotel room was clean and cosy with balcon. It was a really pleasant stay. The hotel staffs are even better than the hotel. They know what the guests want to know and unbelievably friendly. I would recommend this hotel at any time to everybody.

Review 65:cold breakfast only... Nothing warm for kids :( not even omelet :(

Review 66:A very good location, comfortable and clean rooms!!! Simple but good breakfast! Place for parking! Staff very helpful :) and friendly!

Review 67:Pleasant Frosso, the young lady at the reception, made our stay unforgettable! Extremly helpful with her advice, very professional and always friendly!!

Review 68:It was a little bit complicated to find - the hotel name is not on maps so make sure to put it in the navigation in advance. Or if you enter Kastraki town follow the sign "Meteora" and you will see the hotel.

Review 69:Fantastic view from the room, perfect location, the road from the hotel is going directly to Meteora. Helpful hotel managers (thank you!). Fast wifi. Parking.

Review 70:Breakfast was limited but of good quality.

Review 71:Very friendly staff, always eager to help in everything (ask for wonderful Froso)! Clean room, excellent heating, always providing hot water at any time, location is very good, parking spaces always available. + they've changed their pet friendly policy due to renovation but they agreed to bring our dog with us because it was still mentioned on the site that we could. ++ they offered us two waffles along with our order only to show their hospitality (thank you Froso)

Review 72:The bathtub was half-size and the hot water in the morning was barely warm. We had reserved a room with a view of the Meteora from the balcony, but in fact most of the view was obstructed by part of a roof.

Review 73:The hotel is very close to the Meteora and the staff were friendly and helpful in planning our visits to the monasteries. We had a family suite, which was pretty spacious for our family of 4. Otherwise, it was unremarkable--clean room, simple breakfast.

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:Young lady on reception was absolutely brilliant. Very pleasant, spoke good english and was a mind of information. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Hotel is ideally located, comfortable and well kept.

Review 76:Not being able to stay an additional night because the hotel was full.

Review 77:Everything was perfect; really friendly, helpful staff, wonderful views, excellent position. Just lovely having breakfast on the terrace.

Review 78:The general facilities at this hotel as offered by "Booking" website include "Facilities for disabled guests". Most unfortunately the only noticeable external "facility for the disabled" was a most dangerous and unsafe external ramp from the front yard up to the front door. Internally, there is no lift up to the rooms with a good view, and inside the room there were no specific "Facilities for disabled guests" apart from paradoxically a bed of exceptionally very poor condition that would certainly not be acceptable even by a perfectly able person.

Review 79:The location for visiting the Meteora is the best that can be expected. Very nice and helpful staff.

Review 80:Breakfast was OK but offerings were not as diverse as most other Greek hotels on this trip.

Review 81:The staff was very helpful and friendly; receptionist went out of her way to show us on a map the sights we should see and even gave us a guidebook to use. The rustic charm of the building is more alpine than Greek, but the room was modern and comfortable. We were upgraded at no additional cost to a room with a fantastic view of Meteora and its impressive monasteries.

Review 82:The hotel is comfortable, with its own charm, with a nice view to Meteora rocks. People working there are kind and attentive. We had a very pleasant stay.

Review 83:It's very close to the Meteora site and about 4 or 5 euros' taxi from the train or bus station. Extremely clean and nice rooms. I love the honey and yoghurt in breakfast! Frosso is so excellent in arranging everything. Thank you for your kindness!

Review 84:There wasn't anything we could think of.

Review 85:We loved the place, its location, staff friendlyness and hotel cleanliness. Simple and good breakfast. Beautifully decorated rooms.

Review 86:Breakfast was not that good, very poor variety and an awful coffee, but with a beautiful view from the balcony.

Review 87:The location - just next to the monasteries. The room was very nice, big, a good shower, very comfortable and with great mountain view. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free parking.

Review 88:facilities a bit aged, although clean and in working order. most of the staff doesn't speak English. breakfast isn't included

Review 89:price was reasonable. the young lady at the reception was very helpful. location- on the quiet side of Kastraki. clean and maintained well. small homey feeling.

Review 90:Misleading offer, for 55E "double bed room with view to the mountains", there was no view on the mountains.

Review 91:Misleading offer "room with view to the mountain" turned out to be view on hard wall on the ground floor, on oposite side from the view that was shown on the picture. Thanks to good willing of the receptionists we received still very small room with very small window but there was no this terrible view.

Review 92:Wifi signal was weak in our room (last room on the corner), but that wasn't important for us.

Review 93:Beautiful view, very kind staff, fruits as gift, optimal location, clean room, easy parking

Review 94:Although we only had a short stay, our time at the Kastraki Hotel was exceptional. Travelling with a young family and two sets of grandparents throughout Greece, we found this to be our favourite Hotel. The rooms were more than comfortable and clean, but the beautiful warm smile and welcoming manner of Efrosini and the other staff was unforgettable. Would recommend to anyone and would return anytime. Thank you Efronsini.

Review 95:We may have got the best room in the house with fantastic day and night views over Meteora. The hotel looks great, stylish and event a bit posh. The personnel are friendly and will provide you with all the information you need. In particular, thank you Froso (hope I got the spelling right, if not, apologies). Meteora is unique, must see at least once in a lifetime, and I would always go back to this particular hotel.

Review 96:The breakfast could be better. The food should be kept cool and not in the open.

Review 97:Very good location for visiting Meteora, Perfect view of the rocks just above the hotel.

Review 98:Not a single thing. For those who care, access to wifi in our room wasn't good.

Review 99:Extremely polite staff. Smaller, pleasantly decorated hotel, not crowded. Quiet location, in a village, very near the monasteries, taverne across the road. For us, a young couple, everything was just perfect. It's a bit far from the town below, if there are those who care.

Review 100:The staff was friendly, helpful, and dealt with our concerns immediately. They called taxis for us and helped us arrange a tour of the monasteries quickly and efficiently. The room had a fantastic view and although city-wide power cuts affected the A/C for a couple hours, the front desk kept us informed and worked to restore service immediately. The bathroom was clean and modern, and our bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was good and we received a lovely good-bye present on our last night, which was really appreciated. It felt like the staff there were willing to go the extra mile at all times. Would definitely recommend.

Review 101:The room was next to the back of the building where is the air condition system very noisy. Wifi only in a very small part of the room

Review 102:Very clean. Nice hotel

Review 103:The staff was very nice, and gave us a great introduction to the Meteoras and lots of details on what to do and where to go. The hotel is nicely located and very comfortable. Breakfast was nice. Overall, a great stay, good value for money, would definitely recommend. (Stayed in July 2014)

Review 104:The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and always with a smile. The rooms are clean, with a small balcony and we could walk into the village for dinner and to some of the sites.

Review 105:Being on the first floor at the end of the corridor, our wifi was not great, sporadic at best.

Review 106:Fantastic location, looking straight at Meteora from our balcony. Great staff, young lady at reception was extremely helpful. Lovely rooms, clean, comfortable bed. Off street parking outside the motel. Kastraki town square with a great taverna was walking distance away.

Review 107:No garden, but a balcony Not all roombalcony's have a nice view and are very close to each other. Not really a problem.

Review 108:Family run hotel Wifi everywhere Extremely clean hotel Quite place Nice restaurants close by Great working airco Very helpfull staff. Frosso, the lovely daughter of the family, helps you with more than just professional attention. She even provides you of a guidebook of Meteora in your own language during your stay. In our case in Dutch! (Taalgebruik soms erg grappig, inFOPmatie staat er op de kaft. Je moet dus niet alles geloven

Review 109:Nothing.

Review 110:Located very close to the rock formations in Meteora, on the road to the monasteries. Quite and relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly staff, giving plenty of recommendation on what to visit, ready to help at any moment.

Review 111:The hotel has a convenient location, close to the monasteries. We had a beautiful view from the balcony) The rooms were clean and nicely furnished and the personnel were nice and friendly) Our little Pomeranian was also warmly welcomed there)

Review 112:Great big room with balcony and views of meteora. Full size bed is big in comparison to other European full beds. Great friendly staff very helpful with site seeing and directions. Very clean, wifi, parking and good breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 113:Outstanding service, very helpful with information, very friendly, made us feel welcome at all times. Excellent location with easy access to attractions and hotel very comfortable. Very pleased to recommend this accommodation.

Review 114:all

Review 115:Internet is a bit slow but manageable

Review 116:One of the best hotels in our visit of Greece. Everything you see in the Internet is well represented.

Review 117:Shower cabin was very small.

Review 118:- bathroom is a bit too small. Shower could not be closed

Review 119:- nice Rooms - good bed - Working wifi - excellent breakfast

Review 120:Stunning location with amazing views
