The Alpino is in the centre of Barga, in the green Garfagnana area. This historic hotel is managed by the Castelvecchi family since the end of the 18th century.

Review 1：:) Being woken up by an early morning call to say that I was parked on a:spot that should have been left vacant for the Saturday market. However:the two policewomen were very pleasant and understanding, and I:didn't get fined either!
Review 2：Everything really! The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room(and hotel in general) is very clean, bright and comfortable. Our roomhad a lovely balcony outlooking the front of the hotel. Restaurantservice and food is very good. The hotel location in Barga is anexcellent base for visiting Lucca to the South and all of the Garfagnanato the North. Better than most 3-star hotels in the region. I'lldefinitely come back here again and would highly recommend it.
Review 3：No hair dryer in the room but when I asked the front desk for one, it was provided promptly.
Review 4：When we had an early bus on our day of departure, they had breakfast for us an hour before their normal time. Their stairwells are beautifully furnished and painted, compared to other hotels where they are an afterthought. Walking distance to historic center, with very nice restaurants....be prepared for uphill!

Review 7：Great location and value. A clean and efficient facility. Great view from our balcony, and we enjoyed our breakfast...great coffee! While the owner did not smile as a previous posting mentioned, he was helpful in answering all of our questions such as parking and provided us with two outstanding Barga tourist pamphlets.

Review 9：We loved how fantastic the staff were, as they were very efficient at all times. We loved the manager he was very helpful and very informative . We thought the breakfast was so fresh it was absolutely fantastic ! We loved how clean the room was every day, they even changed the beds after two nights which we thought was excellent ! We got extra pillows when we asked for them straight away. We slept really well because the air conditioning was efficient at all times,Everyone in the hotel was happy in their work can't wait to book in again! We will be going back to this hotel again I would recommend you book.

Review 12：Very friendly welcome. Lift to top floor. Very clean and comfortable with large bed. The evening meal was delicious and extremely good value: home made pasta, delicious chicken and wonderful dessert all for just 22 euros plus white wine chosen by the owner. Lovely breakfast.

Review 16：HAS a lift, clean, very convenient location. Restaurant on site which was great for us as nothing else was open when we arrived. We had a lovely balcony. Host was cordial. Watch the front door step. Our GPS needed "centre of town" Barga. The street address just confused our GPS.

Review 18：The owners are very pleasant and courteous. The food is freshly cooked and it is what you imagine Italian food tastes like. There is a good menu but the family will also cook what you request. Fabulous wine cellar at great prices. I would argue that the restaurant is the best in Barga.
Review 19：We had one of the apartment rooms at Hotel Alpino which was simply great, there was a little kitchen area which meant we could prepare some meals to eat on the terrace. The apartment was spacious and very clean which was maintained with daily housekeeping facilities. Breakfast was the usual continental fare however the presentation was better than the norm. We ate in the hotel two out of four nights and the food was delicious - especially the rissotto. The owner, who is also the chef, was very attentive and happy to adapt his recipes to individual tastes. Overall highly recommended.

Review 37：Be careful on first entry to the hotel as there is a step down which is not sign posted and I went flying in to the reception. Then my husband tripped up the step on the way out one time and jarred his back which cause some pain for a number of days. So be careful!
Review 38：The Hotel Alpino has been refurbished and it was fantastic. Great decor, comfy bed and most importantly a wonderful shower. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day.

Review 43：We loved everything about it. Our evening after dinner strolls and hikes among the vineyards will remain in our best summer memories for a while. And L'Alpino did all it could to accommodate this. We were given our space, all the local information required, restaurant, transportation and sights tips and some helpful steers on hiking. We even had the chance to meet the lovely owner, Roberto and his family. A hotel kept in the family for generations - perfectly situated in between the lovely local park in a ravine and pool, above a great little cafe and at the base of the historical older part of the walled town leading up to the "duomo" and peripheral vineyards.

We stayed three nights, and ate at the hotel restaurant all three - there was simply no reason to look for anything better. We got great advice for nearby hiking and sightseeing possibilities. Highly recommended!
