Reviews for Monastiri Guesthouse
Review 1:Our bed squealed hideously. Every time one or the other of us got up, it would wake the other up. Breakfast was dismal.
Review 2:The view and location were excellent.
Review 3:Dita, the hostess, is an incredible individual-- Greek hospitality at its finest. She went out of her way to accommodate all our needs (e.g. she provided us with maps, rain coats, umbrellas, etc.). She packed us breakfast the night before our early morning departure. The guesthouse is very clean, well-equipped and close to Kalambaka's train station. Great ambiance, full breakfast and quiet.
Review 4:Everything was just perfect!!! The host, Dita, is really kind and provided us wonderful days!!! Wonderful breakfast with homemade jelly and pastry. Her place is a perfect one to relax and enjoy the marvelous view of Meteora!!! Warm place, warm people, just excellent!!!
Review 5:No real shower and signs posted everywhere to limit water usage. I really need a shower daily and had to take a wash up with the shower sprayer instead.
Review 6:The staff were amazing and seemed sincere. Location was nice (close to train station). Great breakfast.nice view from outdoor patio.
Review 7:Nothing!
Review 8:It has more of a bed and breakfast feel to it and coupled with the service provided by Dita it felt like we were sleeping at a friends house instead of a hotel. The breakfast Dita prepared which included home made biscuits was excellent. Dita also arranged a rental car for us and handled the delivery and return as we were short on time.
Review 9:Everything was wonderful and perfect!
Review 10:The host and staff are always so friendly and attentive, Dita was the nicest host we ever met! The guesthouse is probably the most beautiful house in the area, located right behind the train station, comfy beds, great breakfast with homemade pie and yogart every morning, what more can I say!
Review 11:It is a short walk from the Kalambaka train station and can be easily found. The vintage interior design makes it quite unique experience to stay in. The rooms are more than spacious and everything is kept in good order. The owner gave us a warm welcome and truly made us feel like home. She gave us a thorough introduction and useful tips of the town and the roads to different monasteries. Here you can rent scoots and cars directly. Will definitely stay here again if we ever come back. Highly recommended.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Fantastic place. Made very welcome. Home made food at breakfast. Great area with monasteries and owners of this place very informative. Just about the best place I have ever stayed in Greece.
Review 14:Both the host and room were excellent. A brilliant location for getting up to Meteora. Our host gave us a wonderful walking guide that made our few days here even more enjoyable. It has excellent views for photos and sketching. She even packed us a breakfast for our early morning (5am) train back to Athens! We can't thank her enough and wouldn't recommend this place more highly.
Review 15:a special find for us. Great views, tranquil and carefully restored with furniture and fittings from antique stores. Lovely character. Great bar area and lovely pool. Swimming and simple activities also in nearby lake. great staff. we vowed to return
Review 16:The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The location is incredible, with a great view of Meteora right off the deck. Breakfast was very adequate.
Review 17:A better shower curtain should replace the current one such that water doesn't spill out.
Review 18:The view, location, facilities, the breakfast and of course the friendly staff that makes the stay like home!
Review 19:Very conveniently located for visiting Meteora. Monastiri Guest House has clean and comfortable rooms, with superb view on The Meteors. The breakfast is very good, with homemade pies and "bougatsa", a sort of fillo pastry filled with custard. Dita the owner is very nice and friendly.
Review 20:Nothing to dislike it was all great
Review 21:The design of the property was beautiful and in keeping with the surroundings. It's location with views of Meteora were stunning. Hotel owner Dita couldn't do enough for us and really made our visit a treasured memory. We were most grateful for the free cold water she gave us after a hot days sightseeing.
Review 22:It is like a home away from home. Dita was incredibly helpful in figuring out our bus travel from Kalambaka to Delphi. She called bus stations and then, when we had to leave too early to enjoy the breakfast in the morning she made us sandwiches for the road! The shared downstairs space is beautiful and comfortable, with a bar and seating. We enjoyed our stay in the room and it is close to the bus station.
Review 23:Everything! Friendly staff that go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome. It had a homely feel but with all the comforts enjoyed when travelling on holiday. Beautiful views, easy access to train, delicious food, outstanding hospitality - I highly recommend this guesthouse to any traveller.
Review 24:A shower curtain to be installed in the bathroom would be more convenient and the floor won't be wet.
Review 25:The host is very caring. We were late as the train was delayed. She went out looking for us. The location is very convenient, just 5 minutes from the train station and a 10 minute walk to the bus station to Meteora. The room was lovely and clean. Breakfast is very fulfilling, with delicious home made pastry made by the host.
Review 26:Dita is lovely hostess. She was very informative and helped us plan are visit in metaora, offering us the perfect mix of hiking views and sightseeing. The breakfast was very good including homemade pastries. The view from the balcony in breakfast area is breathtaking.
Review 27:The extra bed was somewhat inconvenient. An upgrade to a bigger room probably solves this, so not really an issue.
Review 28:stylish decoration, helpful hosts, good breakfast selection
Review 29:a bit noisy from the road at times, it would have been nice to have a shower instead of a sitting bath
Review 30:great location, spacious rooms, lovley host and great breakfast.
Review 31:no complaints.
Review 32:this was by far our favorite place we stayed while in Greece!! this hotel is family run, and they truly care about making sure you have a wonderful stay. I would make a special trip back to Greece just to stay in this hotel and tour the city more. Loved it!
Review 33:nothing
Review 34:good location, just behind the train station. very lovely stone house and beautiful decoration. the owner is very nice and helpful.I enjoy staying in Monastiri Guesthouse.
Review 35:The Meteora view was amazing in the night sky! Very quiet place with on old charm. The landlady was the nicest hostess and didn't charge us for extra beds. Breakfast was a hit! So glad I stayed there.
Review 36:I can't say enough about what a wonderful place this is. It is ideally located and Dita is an exceptional hostess who went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable in every way, even getting the self-serve breakfast ready earlier than usual so we could eat before we caught an early train. Our room was an extremely comfortable, unique haven. We only wish that we could have spent more days in Kalambaka. I would highly recommend this guesthouse to everyone!
Review 37:The hotel was charming and our host was extremely kind and helpful. Each time we returned hot and tired from visiting the monasteries, she met us with a bottle of ice water.
Review 38:The location was a little further from downtown but very accessible from the train station and easy to commute to downtown with the moped we could rent onsite.
Review 39:The hostess was quite possibly the best we've ever had! So kind and she ensured our comfort 100%.
Review 40:Hostess wonderful. Couldn't do enough for us. Large bedroom. Great breakfast. Best accommodation you could ever hope for. Tea and coffee and water available 24 hours. After checkout you can leave bags and come back and have rest in lounge until train leaves, sent on your way with large bottle of iced water. Easy walk to station
Review 41:The property is just behind the train station. It was very easy for us to reach it without any problems. The host was very thoughtful. She helped us to rent scooters, provided free drinks to let us enjoy the view in the lounge, stayed in the lobby waiting for train departure after check out, and a bottle of water before we caught our train. I would say the host was really sincere and nice.
Review 42:The woman at the front desk Was very friendly and helpful. The view was awesome, and the room was very clean and cozy. She rented us scooters which was perfect for driving up to the monasteries.
Review 43:All cool
Review 44:The hotel is not in the center, but with a car it is no problem and even better. Four minutes drive. The owner was very nice and helpful. Our room had a spectaculer view of the clifs and was a perfect suite for four people. The breakfest was excellent and the enterance floor that serve as a dinning room was very comfortable and special.
Review 45:The only thing I can suggest is having a shower curtain so that the water does not get onto the bathroom floor.
Review 46:Nice guest house with a very welcoming host. The view of the Meteora hills from our 1st floor room were really beautiful. We enjoyed the sunset from our balcony. The room we got was huge and well kept. The bathroom was big and clean as well.
Review 47:Probably the weakest point is wi-fi. The signal is OK in the lobby but extremely week upstairs. The place is close to the railway station (good) but unfortunately the afternoon train tends to make noise well in advance of its departure time (bad). Also, be aware of the 7 a.m. church bells (as in many other places in Greece).
Review 48:The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Immediately upon our arrival they provided us with all relevant information. The place is cozy and quiet. Breakfast is very good and it can be enjoyed outside with an incredible view. All in all, a nice place to stay.
Review 49:After three nights here, I have nothing but positive things to say about Monastiri Guesthouse. From the moment I walked in the door (and even hours after checkout on my last day), Dita was was welcoming, friendly, and extremely helpful in working out logistics for the remainder of my trip. If you plan to visit Meteora, there is no better place to stay than Monastiri!
Review 50:Absolutely nothing!
Review 51:The owner Dita was absolutely fabulous, I have never felt more welcomed anywhere I have stayed before. She gave great directions to get to restaurants etc as well as to get to the monasteries of meteora. The place was lovely and homely, just a fabulous stay, would recommend staying here!!!
Review 52:Nothing. We didn't have time to enjoy the terrace facing the rocks.
Review 53:Staff was really friendly and warm. Dita introduced the main interesting places and provided advice on what and when to visit monasteries. Decoration is nice. Breakfast is super. They offer free tea and coffee. In a quiet place near the station and far enough from the noise of downtown. interesting discount in restaurant. Nice room with a terrace facing the rocks.
Review 54:The location of the house is really good, very nearby the train station. The landlady is very nice! Love her! Their service is great, even give you tour advice with handmade Meteora map!
Review 55:The internet was very poor.
Review 56:Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Went over and above with little extras. We enjoyed our stay her very much
Review 57:Difficult in our en suite to shower properly due to lack of enclosure.
Review 58:The building, the interior, the view and Charming hostess Dita. She made a real effort to welcome and communicate.
Review 59:1. Room lights not bright enough 2. Wifi down and needed reboot, said would be repaired soon 3. European style tub & shower without curtain makes it awkward to take a shower
Review 60:1. Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating hostess 2. Good breakfast for price 3. Location close to railway station (3 minutes walk if you do it the local way) 4. clean
Review 61:The wii Fi connection was not very good.
Review 62:The location, level of comfort and service was excellent. Our hosts were warm and friendly providing us with plenty of valuable information . Our room was full of character and very relaxing indeed. My husband and I and our two children age 10 and 13 enjoyed fully our time here.
Review 63:Dita is just so fabulously warm, a gracious and thoughtful hostess and a great cook. The room has an amazing view with lots of space, super clean and perfectly decorated.
Review 64:Our train from Athens to Kalambaka was delayed and we arrived much later than expected - around 10.30 pm. Because we had a morning tour of the monasteries which would end around 1 pm and since the official check out time was 12 noon, we were asked to check out before we left for our tour at 9 am. They allowed us to hang around in the reception area after our return from the tour till our evening train, but in effect we could have our room only for crashing out for 1 night so it did seem a bit expensive. Also the guesthouse is on the other side of the railway line from the main street which has shops and cafes and involves a 15 - 20 min walk. So if you are arriving late like us and are too tired to walk the distance in the night, ensure you are carrying some dinner with you as you will not find anything nearby and can only get some hot beverage at the guesthouse.
Review 65:The guesthouse is very close to Kalambaka railway station. You can get a good view of Meteora if you ask for a room with Meteora view. Breakfast had a good variety and was good. Cereals, different types of breads, cakes, cheese pastry, homemade jams and marmalade, butter and cheese, fruits and coffee, tea. We are vegetarian, but for the others there were also eggs and cold cuts.
Review 66:the owner was so kind and friendly! the location was very nice. just 3minutes from Kalambaca station,so it is good for departure in the early morning or arrival late at night.
Review 67:I was put off by the admonition notice in the room about not using too much water because it could result in other guests having no hot water to shower in. There was no shower cubicle and one has to use the bath to shower in - which has no curtain or partition - so one has to be very careful to prevent the water from splashing all over the floor.
Review 68:A big reason for staying in Kalampaka is to visit the monasteries atop the mountains and the guesthouse has a beautiful views of those mountains. The owner really tries to make one's stay as comfortable as possible and gives a lot of advice on attractions in the area.
Review 69:None
Review 70:Dita was extremely helpful and always wanting to ensure our stay was enjoyable from the minute we arrived, till when we left. Wonderful location and a great view. All 4 of us wished we had stayed longer at her establishment. Will most definitely return soon.
Review 71:The hot water was lacking, and since there was no shower (only a tub), bathing was a challenge. We were there in the COLDEST days of the year though, so during moderate temps it wouldn't have been so bad.
Review 72:Safe place, and clean. The decor, the view, and the staff (owners) were exceptional.
Review 73:Walking to meteora can take up to an hour. You can ride the taxi (around 10 euros for one way or 20 euros for 1 hour ride) I recommend the half-day tour that Dita helped us set up. It includes the mini bus rides to the monastaries.
Review 74:Dita was very helpful! She helped us with setting up tours and transportation. She is very knowledgeable and tries her best to make your stay very comfortable. Home cooked breakfast was lovely. The room was very clean. It's also good walking distance to from the Kalambaka train station and the town.
Review 75:Warm welcome. Great, helpful & genuine people. perfect location with view. Very clean. Nice breakfast....everything was great! I recommend this hotel without hesitation, couldn’t be more welcoming!
Review 76:shower in bathtub with no curten around is not very easy to use.
Review 77:it is a beautiful hotel with tasteful decoration. host is very friendly, gave us lots of useful information. hot tea and coffee is available at any time which make us feel like at home.
Review 78:Magnificent view of Meteora. Fantastic customer service in all respects. A real pleasure to stay there. We would highly recommend this hotel and location to everybody who wants to spend unforgettable and pleasant holidays
Review 79:Lighting is a bit too dim
Review 80:Ms Dita was a gem…. She treated us so well. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and its location is fantastic… you can see the Meteora from the balcony and the main street with the restaurants are is just 5 minutes walk away.
Review 81:Spiro and Dita say they want to give you the flavor of local tradition, and that's what they achieve: Laid-back style in a stone building with lots of timber work, and a nice communal area for guests on the ground floor. Great view, large terrace, and hosts who go out of their way to help.
Review 82:Beautiful guest house, authentic feel but newly and solidly built. Felt like home with friendly and helpful owners and cozy surroundings and fireplace (it was cold in November!) Dita and Spiros gave advice on trails and monasteries, fetched our rental car, cooked breakfast and packed sandwiches for our early train departure. Loved staying there.
Review 83:Wished hand held shower could have been hooked up on the wall and that there was a shower curtain.
Review 84:The homey feel of the hotel and how we were treated while there. Nice breakfast- not fancy but very good.
Review 85:No blinds/shutters in the room - ok in winter but potentially a problem in the summer.
Review 86:View was fabulous, breakfast simple but good, helpful staff provided maps and advice. Easy walk to restaurants.
Review 87:it was very hard to find the hotel. we had to stop 3-4 times for halp &gidnce for diraction. they should write beter adress on their stationery+ GPS cordination. a shower curtin is needed in the bathroom/
Review 88:the view from the balcony ,the disgine of the hotel, and rooms. very good brakfast.very nice & halpfull owner!
Review 89:All lamps had low light so room & bathroom were pretty dim at night - that's not fun when you're tired from traveling & are trying to find small objects in your suitcase.
Review 90:Attractive decor - looked relatively new, & great view of monastaries right out our patio door. We didn't mind being a few blocks away from main area because it was quiet & plenty of parking space.
Review 91:IT is excellent stay. we will have homely feeling and the owner is so helpful. i will stay again if i go there. it has nice view..................................................................................................................................................................................
Review 92:All great: location; breathtaking view to Meteora; architecture & interior design/ room decoration; friendliness of the owners - personal attitude towards all their guests!
Review 93:because of water shortage in the area we were adviced to take a shower. It's a pity the shoWer was not mounted and there was no shower curtain.
Review 94:we felt very welcome in monastiri guesthouse! On arriving our host gave us immediately a lot of information on meteora. it is a very peaceful place to be around, and the rooms were cosy and clean.
Review 95:The location behind the railway tracks is a bit out of the way, but then again, the only other option is the congested and touristy centres of Kalambaka or Karistiri.
Review 96:Our host Ditta could not have made us more welcome, gave us expert advice on navigating the monasteries of Meteora, including a handy map, and good restaurant advice. Lovely breakfast and very smart room.
Review 97:Our hostess was more than kind. She even helped us adjust our booking when weather permitted us to not make our reservation. Long story short, she was extremely gracious.
Review 98:Breakfast could be much better. Toiletries, linens, and towels could be improved. Lack of a wall mount for the shower and a shower curtain makes things difficult.
Review 99:Location, architecture, friendliness of the owners, parking availability and safety, quietness, attentiveness of the staff. All great!
Review 100:Don't expect a Western Shower. There was a tub with shower head in our suite.
Review 101:The landlord is gracious and welcoming. Breakfast size was perfect. You don't hear other guests. Rooms were large. Air conditioning. Great location and view. Use your GPS to get to Meteora.
Review 102:Poor WiFi signal in the room Because of the decorative lighting fixture, the result is a bit dimmed light which can be annoying to some 200m from the Kalambaka train station (Though there are only two trains a day and the rooms have an excellent acoustic isolation)
Review 103:Very well decorated Dita, the warm and welcoming hostess View form the balcony location Air condition Decent breakfast (nothing to write home about but good value) Double room suite was spacious Large playground
Review 104:The toilet wasn't working that well, but this didn't come as a surprise as the host told us when we arrived and it didn't create any big problems for us.
Review 105:The host was lovely- she set breakfast out early for us as we had an early train to catch. Really close to the train station, which worked well for us. We had a balcony view of the amazing Meteora rocks.
Review 106:Having to leave :-(
Review 107:Great location, being just a short walk from the station (though this was in no way intrusive), only eight years built, and beautifully apportioned and decorated, friendly staff (being sympathetic to our every need),... just a perfect and idyllic resting place with a spectacular panoramic view of Meteora
Review 108:The room was a bit dim beacause of the furniture colours and the poor electric lights but it wasn't a big issue
Review 109:Clean, quiet rooms, very friendly and kind owner who prepared home made cakes for breakfast we had in the back garden. We would definitely reccomend this place
Review 110:There are some places you stay at where the people you meet make you feel glad to be a traveler. Monastiri was one of them. The lady of the house, Dita, is probably the sweetest person we have ever met! Very welcoming and made us feel like a part of her family. The guest house is just a 2 minute walk from the train station. We had the junior suite with the panoramic meteora view. Beautiful house and rooms with classy wooden panelling. Loved the decor. Breakfast is good and several items are served fresh out of the oven. Dita has a wealth of information about the area and will help you out with anything you may need. She provides you with 2 handy maps which has all the relevant information. I saw her helping other guests book tours and taxis for sight seeing. In our case, we had requested for a rental scooter for 2 days and her husband had it ready for us. (Highly recommended if you are comfortable with 2 wheelers). All the hikes and sight seeing we did was entirely based on her recommendations and it was spectacular! Thank you Dita for your hospitality and making our stay at Meteora such a special one. We hope to be back and stay with you again some day. ☺
Review 111:There is a bath but you can't have a bath!
Review 112:We arrived late and they were very accommodation and helped is settle in with directions to town for food and information for visiting Meteora. Breakfast was very good
Review 113:Great and Helpful host. They prepared us with takeaway breakfast for early train when leave. Served with heart. Great views from room balcony. Nice room design.
Review 114:Excellent location. Host was very helpful and gave us a very good hand drawn map of all the things to see. 5 minute walk to main st. Lovely building. We had private balcony overlooking meteora
Review 115:Googlemap maps it about 1.5 blocks from where it actually is, making it confusing to find.
Review 116:Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice breakfast. Convenient location.
Review 117:The hotel is located not in the center, though the way to Kalambaka center takes about 10 minutes by foot (but the surroundings are not something that you may describe as a pleasure). But on the whole it didn't spoil the impression from the stay.
Review 118:Comfortable, charming design, spacious rooms and balcony, wonderful lobby, view over the mountains. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff, they provided us with a home-made map of the city, which was very helpful.
Review 119:Large comfortable room. Very close to train station. Great view of the scenery. Easy to get to town center. Owner very friendly and willing to answer any question you may have. Tasty breakfast with a good variety. I'd certainly stay there again.
