Reviews for Villa Moorings
Review 1:We loved it here and it's hard to put anything negative. if you don't appreciate beautiful vintage furniture this isn't the place for you.
Review 2:We stayed in a junior suite, kitted out with beautiful 1920s vintage furniture and a large bathroom with a claw footed bath for extra luxury. Our room was on the corner of the first floor and had two walls of windows showing the spectacular views of Tuscany, waking up there was magical. The breakfast was also brilliant. Great location close to the old town (2min walk) and space for parking, it also had a very inviting pool but we didn't use it. Staff were very friendly and really wanted to make sure you were comfortable. Brilliant place!
Review 3:That we couldn't stay longer!
Review 4:The hotel is a beautifully restored 1920's villa within an easy walk of the old town. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble.
Review 5:Checking out, wanted stay forever!
Review 6:Location was fantastic, staff were wonderful! Felt like was staying with family, nothing was to much trouble! We went as a group of 3 couples, and did not have 1 complaint, beautiful rustic Italian hotel! Loved it!
Review 7:An easy drive from Lucca. Located just outside walled town, with good parking and beautiful views. Made very welcome on arrival. Hotel was a delight with such old world charm. Pool was very refreshing in the heat. Easy walk to find good authentic places to eat (but expect a climb up to the top - well it is a walled town!)
Review 8:My husband and I adored everything about this hotel. The staff were fabulous so warm and friendly. Views from our balcony breathtaking. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Lots of fresh coffee etc.. It was a fantastic holiday mainly due to the Villa Moorings hotel. We will certainly be back. Thank you.
Review 9:Beatrice, Anna Rosa and their staff were very friendly and caring, ensuring guests had everything they needed to make an exceptional holiday. The breakfasts were just right with a variety of fruit, cold meat and cheese and baked goods with an option of Melina's scrambled eggs made to order.
Review 10:Bed could be more comfy. No air-conditioning but its a well built old villa with windows that open fully to let in the evening breeze.
Review 11:Super friendly staff. Feels very homely. Great pool. We loved the old decor although it might not be to everyone's taste. Well located in a lovely sunny spot very close to the old part of Barga (where restaurants abound but there is little sun) so it has the best of both worlds.
Review 12:Lovely house built in early 1920s in Italy's answer to Art Nouveau, Stile Liberty. Period furnishings, large rooms, decent breakfast, pleasant and helpful service.
Review 13:The staff were absolutely wonderful throughout our 8 night stay, supplying excellent breakfast and help. The quaintness of the whole building and decor made for a great relaxing time.
Review 14:Wish the pool had been open.

Review 19:Fascinating history of Villa as built by returning, successful emigrant to Scotland. "Liberty" (=Art Deco) architecture. Grand rooms. Good pool (didn't use). Nice bar (didn't use either!) Pleasant walk to old town. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Off-road parking.
Review 20:Couldn't get used to the local town bell going off every 15 mins, a minor niggle.
Review 21:All the staff, helpful and friendly. Hotel location to the town of Barga. The pool. The actual hotel, it's beautiful. Room was spacious, good comfortable bed.

Review 26:All was great, staff, room , breakfast. My first visit to Barga in a long time. Grandfather was born there. Anyone who sees this and knows the Rocchiccioli name, say hi :)
Review 27:The villa's unchanged 1920's architecture and furnishings. Stunning mountain views from outside terrace and balcony seating areas. Friendly staff and home from home feel. Delicious homemade cakes and fresh fruit and eggs for breakfast. The HUGE bath and spacious bathroom. The in Room tea and coffee making facilities. The large for a hotel pool and relaxing poolside area. The hotel's situation in the town - just a 10 min walk to Barga's old town and historic sites and 5 mins to good restaurants. Plentiful free on site parking.
