Reviews for Cosmos Hotel
Review 1:Could use a kettle in the room. Really focused security staff - never get distracted by any questions.
Review 2:Location is superb, just beside the most famous museums and monuments of the Soviet era and a stone throw from the nearest tube station. Spacious hall and excellent breakfast Russian style!
Review 3:Too many exterior plans for kids and others not affiliated with the hotel during Christmas. Our experience for breakfast on that day (6th Jan.) was awful. We got there at 9:00 A.M. and the restaurant was completely full with very little selection left. The housekeeping staff did not do a very good job of making the room also.
Review 4:In my case it is close to my ex-wife and son's home so it was convenient and it was close to everything we needed.
Review 5:The shower has some problem! The hot water is not stable!
Review 6:Good price! The breakfast is awesome with many choices! It is close to metro! The view from hotel room is great as well!
Review 7:Staff are indifferent. They hardly know any English to be ready for that. Although with a bit of effort, we managed.
Review 8:Its a good value for money. Location is good. Buffet breakfast was very good. It was decently clean. Don't expect 5 star stuff and you'll be happy.
Review 9:From the top floor (25) I had a magnificent view of VDNK and Moscow! Absolutely great. A great choice of restaurants and other facilities. It felt a bit like a trip into the former Sovietunion ( meant absolutely positive) with modern touches. Would go back any time.
Review 10:like the amazing views. and the huge park on the oppsite was holding a event or something when we was there, thats so nice. love the rooms designs by the way ,small beds but i like that style. environenment friendly >>> LIKE
Review 11:The room is old. the bed was ok but not comfortable, security staff will stop you every time you are going up to your room, in a way that is not friendly.
Review 12:The hotel location is good, it has some good restaurants, the food we ordered in the room was very good, and the breakfast restaurant was good, it is a good value for the money I paid.
Review 13:- No one will help you with the bags - Don't expect a good internet connection in your room. - In my room there was an empty refrigerator - Room service... they don't not speak ENGLISH! - The hotel is huge and breakfast is :(( - There was also a strange smell in the room
Review 14:-The room view form 16th floor is great! - Its a 5 min walk next to VDNH metro station
Review 15:The roooms and furnishings are quite old, bed isn't really cozy.
Review 16:This big and historical Hotel is quite far from Moscow city center, but it's very close to VDNH metro station so it's easy to move away. There are a lots of shops and restaurant inside, I suggest this hotel especially for business trip. The position is perfect if you are visiting the fair at VDNH center (I've been here more than once for this purpose).
Review 17:Was waiting about 30 min. to register. Wery poor wi-fi. Was living on the 8th floor - basicaly no wi-fi. Donwnatairs in the evening no wi-fi also.
Review 18:Location. Lots of restaurants. Fittness center, swimming pool.
Review 19:Ladies of the night were in excess throughout the ground floor. It would be preferable if they could limit the area where they work. Also the taxis booked directly at the hotel were extreemly expensive 3000 rubles to the airport where a local good taxi firm 1000 roubles.
Review 20:The location was perfect as we were in Moscow for a wedding in the north west of the city.
Review 21:This is the worst hotel I've ever been. I was in un-renovated room with a furniture older than of my grandparents. The bathtub was dirty. The room has no amenities in it except hand soap (of course no electric kettle, iron or hairdryer). The hotel is huge but I was put into the room right below the constructions room so there was no chance to sleep starting from 8 am or have peace during the day time. There is a night club in the hotel and the music is heard in the room (party all night!) The worst is their restaurant. It offers lots of foods for breakfast and lunch BUT I personally saw a cockroach running over the food. I was shocked and pointed the stuff at it. They told me that they were aware of the problem but the management does not react. They asked to complain to the management so that may be they do something about the problem. I can't even imagine what is going on in the kitchen. Rats everywhere? Check-in is simply painful. This is a hotel where many touristic and sportsmen groups are staying. There is not separate queue for groups and single individuals. We had to stay in check-in queue for more than an hour. And it was the same all day around, each day - tons of people at check in. There is no concierge service. So if you need something or have a question, you have to stand in a long queue at the reception to ask your question.
Review 22:Room furnitures, no possibility to regulate the heat, lack of hair dryer or even a plug in the bathroom.
Review 23:Facilities near and inside the hotel made the whole stay rather confortable. The proximity of VDNX metro is a plus.
Review 24:Terrible service, dirty, no soap, no shampoo in the rooms (just foam to wash the hands), bad attitude all over and extremely rude personnel, terrible food and cocraches in the restaurant for breakfast and also at the VIP restaurant On the 25th floor. It was a terrible experience and I do not recommend anyone. There are plenty of hotels in Moscow in the same price category and at they are at least clean and the stuff is welcoming.
Review 25:They are lucky to have a nice view but everything else is terrible.
Review 26:No soap or shampoo in bathroom.
Review 27:Variety of good cafes and restaurants: breakfast in "Kalinka," supper in "Sacvoyage." Good security. Short walk to/from Metro station. Low price.
Review 28:1) Rooms are smelling bad and cigarette fume 2) Beds are not comfortable 3) Body guards behaviors are terrible 4) There is not hair dryer 5) Furniture are old and bad 6) Sex service of Escorts are not good and valuable acoording you pay 7) Central heating is not good
Review 29:Breakfast and unfortunately nothing
Review 30:Though I has specifically asked for single bed, on two occasions during my September 2015 stay I was given twin beds in old rooms. Had to complain to get changed into better newer furnished rooms. The process of changing takes hours as the hotel is so huge. Check in is tedious - but can't quite see how to improve it.
Review 31:The hotel has everything. But it's too big and one must understand the system. There no personalised service possible. Cloak room services are quite convienient. Breakfast is good. Room service is also surprisingly fast for such a large place.
Review 32:Check-in was a disaster. There were several hotel staff behind the counter; however, there was no defined line that people had to stand in and so they didn't - they just went to whatever person at the counter they thought would finish faster and by doing so formed a bunch of mini lines. It was very disorganized! I personally do not enjoy filling out hotel paperwork while someone stands way too close to me in a crowd. Our check-in was interrupted twice - the first person requested to change the room as the springs in their mattresses were coming out, and the second complained of the room key not working. When we got to our room, the first thing we checked was our mattresses. One of them did have springs almost coming out but after we turned it over, it was more or less tolerable. We were too exhausted after our trip to go back downstairs to complain. The sheets were clean but had small holes. The furniture and carpet were very worn - it seems they haven't been changed since the hotel was built.. The TV is a very old set but at least it worked. The bathroom light would not turn on every time so we decided to just keep it on to avoid the risk. There was no tea/coffee/bottled water. I tried to move the chair and lifted it up by its back - it came off.. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom. Wifi worked whenever it felt like it. The room was non-smoking but we found cigarette ashes on the window sill. I guess cleaning crew does not do a thorough cleaning.. The view to VDNKH was gorgeous though. Breakfast was very good - the selection of food was excellent and the service was great. Overall, all the staff we encountered was very nice and helpful.
Review 33:Удобное местоположение, красивый вид из окна, персонал отеля вежлив и доброжелателен!
Review 34:The staff, with the exception of the very nice lady in the restaurant on the 25th floor, was rude and unhelpful. The bedding was soiled by what looked like wine, or some other red substance. The towels had holes in them. The room looked like it had not been updated ever. The location was quite a distance away from all of the main things in Moscow. The breakfast and dinner, included in the price of the room, were not fresh. There are not many power outlets.
Review 35:It was cheap.
Review 36:All other things other than morning breakfast. No one can use the close set as there is no space. The bath shower fall down several time during each shower No any toilets lake soap, shampoo or any gel is not in the bath room
Review 37:Only morning break fast. All other services are very poor
Review 38:Non-smoking rule is not honoured. I specifically requested a non-smokingroom, and we were placed in a filthy room that stunk tobacco badly. Uponour request, they changed the room eventually. I requested a wake-upcall on the morning of my depature, and I never received a wake-up call. The most unpleasant was when I had to go through formalities to extendmy stay for an extra day (I had to make an additional reservation beforemy trip to Russia), the girl at the reception asked me to bring ourpassports (though they had our info in their file). I had to go upstairsto get the passports. When I came back, the same girl said that I had towait when a new shift receptionist comes, because she already closed thebatch. Her shift was supposed to end in 10 minutes. My morning was fullyplanned and this delay was stressful for me. I still do not understandwhy she closed the batch if she knew that I would be right back withpassport. Another strange thing was when a new receptionist arrived, shenever asked my for the passports to extend our stay.
Review 39:Softer mattress would have been better.
Review 40:Everything. Its an amazing, lively, vibrant Soviet-era hotel with all the god things from those times. And none of the negatives. VDNKh is just across the road and very convenient to get to anywhere. Will highly recommend. Great for Solo travellers! With bars, discs, restaurants, nightlife - all within the hotel!!!
Review 41:The mattress was hard.
Review 42:Great place to stay! It is very conveniently located close to VDNKh metro from where it is just a breeze to go anywhere. It's a huge hotel with nearly 1800 rooms, but the service is still personalized. The hotel lobby is so vibrant and lively that I used to sit there for a couple of hours every evening. The food is OK. Prices are very-very competitive. And for a Solo traveler, you can have a lot of fun! ;-)
Review 43:Very slow staff at reception desk
Review 44:Location close to metro, nice park near, a lot of facilities on site including restaurants, exchange office, souvenir shops and pharmacy. Friendly stuff and good wifi connection.
Review 45:The drinks and food are slightly over-priced.
Review 46:It is a great hotel, simply fantastic. Especially the lobby. Its alwaysso lively and buzzing with energy. Even at 3 am, you come down for adrink and you never feel lonely. I travelled alone as a tourist, and thehotel has a lot of adventures for solo travellers. Vdnh station is justacross the road and you can reach anywhere from there. I will recommendthis hotel any day. If not for anything else, just for the sheerliveliness everywhere- in front of the vdnh station till 9 pm (itactually feels good when you come back tired from the day and seeeveryone partying) and in the hotel, whole night. Plus this hotel has adistinct Soviet ambience which feels very good.
Review 47:Bad staff.cant decide little problem with net connections. Even they didnt try to solve. First day no shampoo and shower gel. Tooth brush and tooth paste need to bye.
Review 48:Building, location, veiw from room was not bad
Review 49:The rooms and corridor carpets are old and smell musty. The aircon is not really working and I was told to open the window. This is not a bad idea, but then the traffic noise becomes too much. Its a bit old-school and in need of clever renovations without taking the character away.
Review 50:It is old Moscow and you know that you are in Russia. I like that part. There was always food and drink available as it was pretty much a 24hour venue.
Review 51:Unhelpful, bureaucratic staff which kept sending us off to another staff member for something as simple as helping with directions to reach the city centre. It was impossible to get any questions answered at the reception. While the lobby was grand and impressive, the floor landings were stinking. There was a dead rat smell on our floor. The bathroom fittings were archaic.
Review 52:The hotel was self-sufficient in the sense that it had a number of restaurants, bars and pubs within the property, which was convenient, given that it was so far from the city centre. Travelling in Moscow without a local guide is very difficult as taxi drivers cheat and hardly anyone speaks English. So sticking to the hotel in the evening was a sensible idea. Also, breakfast was good.
Review 53:do not change the bed sheeth for three nights, pant given for pressing at 9 am not ready till 8pm . very week wifi. checking system very slow.
Review 54:breakfast is good.
Review 55:All facility you will see in your room is two cup and towel , cant imagine a hotel like this in Moscow, lucky things is i just booked room for two night and change there , the lobby girls also is quit expensive
Review 56:Breakfast is good
Review 57:A bit oldish soviet era furniture even in a premium class room. Door lock, bathroom equipment needs fixing.
Review 58:Breakfast was excellent and rich. Huge premises of the hotel has many restaurants, bars, night club, stores, ATMs, travel agencies, drug store, in one word almost everything what you might need. Well organized ironing rooms, free water machines.
Review 59:Nothing really. We read the reviews before booking and didn't expect anything special. Didn't feel any bad smell in room, of course it's not new, but everything was clean. Wi-Fi is slow.
Review 60:Breakfast Location View
Review 61:Sometimes the staff at the front desk took too long to get to a customer or they might have ignored a customer waiting.
Review 62:The free breakfast was more than excellent. It was fantastic! The room was nice and comfortable. Good value for the money. I also liked the business center, which was a good value. They had an MTC store right there on the premises which had a very good price on my SIM card and a very helpful staff member.
Review 63:Nothing, everything was great
Review 64:Stayed for one week in September 2015. Was allocated room on 25th floor. Nicely decorated, very clean, comfortable, excellent views and free wifi works great. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Excellent value for money.
Review 65:the rooms are old style, and the tap water feels like full of minerals, however the value for money is great taking how low I paid.
Review 66:A superb location in the north of Moscow, not the centre but close to the subway and a large park. very diverse breakfast menue. A great old soviet building with amazing view.
Review 67:Staff unfriendly BUT there are exceptions. They don't make beds, simply throw over bed covers. One of our beds extremely uncomfortable. Our 14th floor was non smoking, but permanent smell of smoke-seemed to be coming from staff area. Gross.
Review 68:Younger staff really tried hard to help and be friendly. Breakfast staff friendly and efficient. Location and affordability very good. Concierge particularly helpful, grateful his Eng was so good. Lobby area is interesting and has everything. Cleanliness of rooms good. Decor dated but in line with what we paid. Breakfast was great.
Review 69:I watched the unforgettable Kostronom in the hotel´s concert hall. The souvenir shops inside the hotel are very impressive and the prices are reasonable. The breakfast selection is wide, wifi is free, and the view from my room on the 22nd floor is splendid! The size of the room is big compared with other hotels of the same class.
Review 70:- Hotel needs a big update. To manny things broken or outdated. - no way to control temperature, radiator in bathroom always on. Used window (that was broken) to cool down room. Didnt help a lot but it was melting or noise from area - No way to close sink ore bathtub, so inpossible to take a bath (in all rooms) shower is good
Review 71:- Location is good - erm. Dont know
Review 72:When i did the booking then it was adverised that free use of fitness center, but when I arrived I had to pay extra 800 rub to use fitness center and pools. To much security in hotel when you enter the hotel security guard in front door and close to the elevator also security guard. I think it is enough for one security guard when you enter to the hotel
Review 73:Nice location , lot of sights close what to see. The breakfast was allso nice many different food and drinks
Review 74:Front of desk staff did not even give eye contact or say hello for approx 10minutes while checking in, just tapped away on the computer.
Review 75:Good amenities and very close metro station
Review 76:- Security infront of the LIFTs... They always ask you customer card, even you pass infront of him a min ago!!! - Smelly room - No Hair dryer - Not enough light in the room
Review 77:- Breakfast
Review 78:Recpition staff should all be replaced with one that show intrest in thier customers, Ery unfriendly a d not very helpful I tryed to book this hotel dirsct with them and was told it was full, Obviously they sooner sit and do nothing that take a booking! So i booked it on line with bookings.com Room are smoked and well worn , bars a d resturants are well over priced
Review 79:Very close to tne metro
Review 80:The second time I stayed in this hitel carpeting was very dirty, even some parts were black! Staffs no friendly and helpful
Review 81:Good view of space museum and exhibition center, good breakfast
Review 82:Wi-Fi was extremely bad, at times it wasn't working at all. Security measures were too excessive, every time I would enter the hotel and advance to my room, it felt like it was some sort of a prison. In general, everything was very far from the European standards. Some items in the room were broken (especially in the bathroom). Central air-con would switch on and off at its own will, which made my nights very hot and relatively sleepless.
Review 83:Location.
Review 84:Not free Biznis Center. Slowly at the front desk
Review 85:. Good security, 5 security guards walking around the vestibule and at the lifts and checked the hotel cards. Excellent breakfast.
Review 86:To deliver any message receptionists have no other ideas then block your access to the room! They MAKE you come down no matter what just to say that they made a mistake, and would like to refund us. Ridiculous, isn't it? Standard rooms are about 50 years old. No kettles, no way to put bills on the room, so keep some cash on you at all times!
Review 87:Amazing location, beautiful arcitecture, very very convenient Lux rooms are pretty good
Review 88:All the staff was sleeping in 24 restaurant on 25 t floor, but bars in the lobby wore open. Very strict security you should enter guest card each time you enter lobby
Review 89:Excellent hotel. I think more than 3 stars. You get everything you need like in 4 hotels or even more. Bathrobe air condition, free water. Several restaurant in the lobby, spa salon, good breakfast. Worth money fo sure. Would like to stay again
Review 90:They did not clean room after 6 pm!not change cover of bed every day!not allowed visiter from 11pm to 7am!resturant in side hotel and bar too expensive!no free swimming pool!no belyard no bowling!too hot in summer
Review 91:Location!view!
Review 92:The sight of prostitutes in one of the bars on the ground floor does not reflect the standard of the hotel.
Review 93:Very pleased with the Front Desk Staff as well as the Security Staff manning the entrances to the elevators.
Review 94:Wi Fi DNS server did not work consistently. My laptop disconnected quite often so I had to reboot my computer in order to reestablish the wireless connection. It was rather irritating.
Review 95:Breakfast and the overall cast of stay
Review 96:Wi-Fi is not that great in the rooms
Review 97:Many of the previous reviews complained about the rooms, food and service. I paid a bit more for a suite and got a great room that was very clean and a very comfortable bed- included in the price you had the use of a separate restaurant for breakfast and it also included an evening meal with wine - this is a great choice as there are limited people using the facility. At the end of the day you only get what you pay for in this world. Also there were no queues at reception and security was doing the correct job.
Review 98:Bed was very lumpy and was probably very old. The pillows were nobetter. The hotel seemed to have changed little since it was built. Thehotel charges for checked luggage. The airconditioning was centrallyoperated (no control for individual rooms) and seemed to struggle tokeep the room cool.
Review 99:The hotel is near to VDNKh park and metro station, which although alitte way out of Moscow, it is convenient for Metro access, access toVDNKh and the shows at Cosmos Concert Hall. The rooms themsleves werelarge, and had good views. They did include a fridge.
Review 100:The hotel security check your room card every time you want to go to your room even if he saw you 2 minutes ago !! It's for guests safety but it's annoying , the wifi not worked in rooms it just works in lobby , the room didn't have free slippers
Review 101:The location is good near metro and near vdnkh park but it's a little far from center , the breakfast was so good , it's value for money
Review 102:Didn't really have a bad experience. The gift shops are quite expensive, so would recommend buying souvenirs elsewhere. But this would be typical of all hotels.
Review 103:We booked a junior suite, and were quite pleased with the overall room and sitting area. The booking entitled us to not only a free breakfast, but evening dinner as well. The meals were buffet style and didn't vary too much. We were there for 8 nights. Our recommendation would be to select chicken one night from the buffet, maybe pork the next night, fish the next, etc., just so you have some variety. The hotel has at least three other restaurants to choose from, all good eating places. The fitness place looks amazing, unfortunately we had little opportunity to use. (There is always an excuse!). The hotel has great subway connections nearby and is right across from Moscow's exhibition centre. Definitely worth the time to visit! Very good security at the hotel. Most staff speak 'workable' English, much better than our Russian and no need for a translation app!
Review 104:Wifi was terrible at the room. Card control at the elevator didn't make me comfortable. The bed was old and it was crying :)
Review 105:Easy connection with metro. Near exhibiton area and cosmonaut museum.
Review 106:The normal rooms are terrible. The "Superior" rooms are just about ok. Food in the Hotel restaurants are quite bad. And slightly expensive.
Review 107:Special thanks to Maria (Receptionist) who was very helpful. Surprisingly. Good place to buy souvenirs. Breakfast spread is quite elaborate.
Review 108:Some staff seemed frustrated and were a bit rude when they struggled to respond to me in English language. No drinking water in rooms or tea and coffee. Only 1 English TV channel! Room needs modernising asap
Review 109:Excellent breakfast. Staff helpful and right next door to a fantastic leisure park :)
Review 112:The furnitures were from ancient times, bed was not confortable, there were stains on the carpet.
Review 113:Price is affordable and its near the metro station, which goes directly to city center.
Review 114:Poor airconditioning No free entry to swimming pool or gym Huge fees for entry in nightclub situated in their basement Rude security staff constantly checking for hotel cards as if we were some terrorists
Review 115:Breakfast
Review 116:1- Strict entry procedures is very annoying 2- very complicated calling procedure
Review 117:The Hotel has many good restaurants and the looby always filled with visitors
Review 118:Staff is rude and uneducated if u know english they refuse u to speak even , in hotel people look at u like u an idiot and racist type of feeling u will have , restaurant people dont entertain u
Review 119:Nothing just outside view pathetic staff
Review 120:Did not respond to emails , had organised to be picked up at airport no one there, got to the hotel told them about the airport, they couldn't care less. The decor has not been updated since it was built in the 80's
Review 121:Nothing
Review 122:Bed Linen hasn't been changed once during a 3-night stay Staff at the Pub in the lobby started charging 10% service charge on top of the bill from the 2nd day without telling us and they made sour faces when they didn't get an extra tip
Review 123:very good WiFi at the Pub in the lobby
Review 124:This hotel is so old that be in need of repair. Especially a rooms after smoking.
Review 125:The memory of the great Charles de Gaulle. But why not rename this hotel? Breakfast was really so good as I take some weight after check out.
Review 126:There was often a big queue of people waiting in reception. I reserved a double room with a double bed but upon arrival found I had two single beds.
Review 127:The breakfast had a number of excellent choices.
Review 128:No bad experience.
Review 129:Convenient, efficient service especially Maria at reception), quiet, variety of options for dining within the hotel building, fair currency exchange rates at more than one location,
Review 130:wifi connection depends of the wind, payment with credit card - strange - you can pay for food, but not for drinks, etc...
Review 131:If you would like to feel like during the Cold War this is your place
Review 132:I ordered a room with one big double bed - this my wish was not met, pity (two single beds pushed together still give a different effect). Facilities in the bathroom were slightly looser than I expected; however, that did not hinder using them. Also, the window could have been cleaner outside, but that's probably a quibble.
Review 133:I ordered a room on some of the higher floors and with a view of VDNKh - these my wishes were met, thanks. The room was clean. WiFi worked quite well.
Review 134:It is old fashioned, the floor is covered with carpets that are not very clean, the beds were uncomfortable, and staff of restaurants do not understand a word of english.
Review 135:The breakfast was good and the staff working at the hotel is nice, the tourist visa service works effciently and there are services inside the hotel such as currency exchange, train tickets office, souvenir shops, etc.
Review 136:Actually there's nothing. But beds not 100% comfortable. But acceptable
Review 137:The location is amazing.2 minutes from metro station. Very big hotel like a community. You will find restaurants. Clubs.etc. Security check cards every time you are going to your room But that never bothered me it's for your own safety.as no one but guests or ur guest can go to the rooms section.
Review 138:Bed springs were bad, room was not so clean, torn down hotel, cigarette smell everywhere, lots of secret service agents everywhere in lobby.
Review 139:Lots of young working women walking around in the hotel lobby like a fashion parade :-)
Review 140:All it's open 24 hours ,you never got entry feelings there is a lot of great people to talkt around friendly with everybody and drink and food it's amazing
Review 141:- There was not any internet connection on my room, so I could not use wirless internet at all it is big minus for me in this century, - Rooms are smelling dust, - There is not electric pluge in room next to bed or any where in room, just in bathroom:)
Review 142:-It is very close to exibition center, -It has a great view.
Review 143:The Rooms Rug carpets smells, the birth-room cottons are old, No complimentary water, just empty dry room, in the night girls huzzling around at the lobby areas and inviting guest to strip club located at the basement of the hotel building!
Review 144:A whole lot of choices in the breakfast restaurant and big hall Near to Metro VDHA station, Fitness jim cost 800 Rubl per visit, the Big lobby space.
