Reviews for Reykjavík Central Apartments

Review 1:Loved the location, the apartment gave us everything we needed and more. Communication from the owner was great - it was wonderful being in central Reykjavik with scope to explore.

Review 2:It was quite difficult for tour companies to find apartment address, when they tried to pick us up for booked excursions.

Review 3:Apartment was in a great location and all questions that were emailed were answered in quick time.

Review 4:Great for a family with children or a group of friends looking for an alternative to a hotel The apartment is very modern, spacious and had all the facilities we required It is well located for the harbour - 5 minute walk, downtown Reykjavik - 10 minute walk and old Reykjavik - 20 minute walk We shall be recommending the apartment to friends

Review 5:The only minor issue was that the window in the lounge didn't close properly so it was a little chilly sitting in a particular spot at the table.

Review 6:The location was fabulous, only 2 minutes walk to the centre in a quiet residential area, and close to the old harbour. We were able to park our hire car close by every day. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and big enough for the four adults in our party. The sofa bed is huge! Despite only having one bedroom there was plenty of storage for our clothes. Sjonni contacted us prior to leaving for our holiday, and again once we arrived to check everything was okay. Checking in and out was trouble-free, as was locating the apartment. As it's next door to a hotel, you can arrange pick ups for all the tours if you wish, as well as airport transfers. I would definitely stay here again if I'm fortunate enough to come back to Reykjavik, and wouldn't hesitate to bring my young granddaughter to stay as well.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:It's a really good apartment, clean, spacious, and definitely good value for money. Highly recommended.... If you join local tours, pick up and drop off apartment is convenient, though not in front of the door due to small street, just around the corner at "Downtown Hostel Reykjavík", 5 mins walk

Review 9:Only possible criticism would be heating. We found it incredibly hot (although this is the usual for a cold country). Can this be controlled by tenants and can information be supplied about how to do that?

Review 10:The owner is incredibly helpful and provides good information in English about how appliances work and where supermarket is etc. Walked everywhere.

Review 11:Sjonni, the man that was our main contact with booking was fantastic. He provided so much help for us. The location was so perfect, and the overall homey feel of the apartment was great.

Review 12:Morning. The apartment is beautiful, clean and very well equipped. Luxury after countryside stays!

Review 13:Excellent correspondence before arrival with very friendly support during the stay. Excellent location close to the harbour and city centre with easy access to main roads for self hire car travel out of the city also.

Review 14:Nothing, I would buy this apartment!

Review 15:Very clean, modern, spacious. Walking distance to nice restaurants and centre of Reykavik. View of the port /docks and Harpa in the distance.

Review 16:The apartment was not easy to find in the building courtyard. Wifi login info was not updated in checkin instructions. Street noise almost every morning.

Review 17:Very nice spacious apartment. It was clean and comfortable. You could easily catch the tour bus just around the corner and there was a small grocery store open 24/7 also about a block away.

Review 18:Perfect location ... all modern luxuries, quiet apartment block and very spacious with fantastic views over the harbour. A very helpful owner too ... would highly recommend.

Review 19:The dryers for laundry were not working so as backpackers needing dry clothes this was an issue. Needed to hang clothes in room to dry.

Review 20:Central location was excellent.

Review 21:The apartment we stayed at was adorable! The decor was modern but comfortable. The three bedrooms, two baths and common area were a good size for our group of six. The apartment included a few outlet converters, hairdryer, smart tv, and a coffee & tea pot just to name a few conveniences. The location was great! We were able to walk around down town every day and see all the popular sights. Many great restaurants were also within walking distance.

Review 22:If anything could have been better it would have been Sky TV for some English channels. Also a bit noisy of Friday night with people coming home from the bars

Review 23:Great location, very near the centre. Lovely apartment, very comfortable and warm and clean.

Review 24:Lovely spacious apartment. Felt at home, location was spot on. Sjonni was very nice asking to make sure everything was ok. Would definately stay here again.

Review 25:Although double glazed there can be a lot of noise from the street, especially with people going home on a Fri/Sat night. Parking outside is on a meter, free parking is a 100 m or so away, but it can be difficult to find a space, free or not.

Review 26:Location is excellent and close to the town centre and many very nice restaurants. The apartment is well fitted out in a relaxed modern style.

Review 27:Bring your own bathroom toiletries and be prepared to take cabs or bus locally. Also, be prepared to carry luggage three floors.

Review 28:Cleanliness, responsiveness of owner, television, value for cost was outstanding.

Review 29:Really central; we couldn't manage the door lock (they turn the other way in Iceland) and Sjonni was there within minutes of our phone call; lovely apartment with things like coffee, washing up liquid, salt and Pepper provided.

Review 30:Perfect place to visit Reykjavik. Next to the old harbour. 5 min of foot to city center. Apartment is big, new and has everything what You need to stay for a couple of days. Next to it theres is Bonus shop and few good restaurants...

Review 31:No

Review 32:The apartment is clean and warm.My friend likes it very much..The equipment is complete, the arrangement is warm and lovely. At that time, I had a problem,Sjonni was very enthusiastic to help.I am super appreciated for his help.

Review 33:Absolutely nothing we did not like about the apartment

Review 34:Very comfortable apartment, great location, owner very accommodating and pleasant to work with. Just like a home away from home.

Review 35:We had 2 teens with us & needed an apt. in a tourist area which we thought we were getting when we reserved - not a residential neighborhood. This one did not suit our needs and the teens were very bored not being able to walk out of the door and shop on their own. If you want a quiet residential area then this is perfect for you! We were expecting the advertised washer/dryer & there was not one - which would have been a deal breaker for us if we had known in advance. The owner said the apartment was new to him and the washer/dryer was held up in customs. We were assigned this apartment 20 days before check in - which we thought was a bit strange. In hindsight, we should have communicated better with the owner about our location concern prior to leaving the US, so can't blame him. Just be aware that if you don't have a car or phone with data access you will be very isolated. There was not any type of information telling you about the apt. and nearby area and no phone in the unit. There were a few places to walk to with 10 minutes, but only if you are able to walk that distance and uphill. We were also concerned about the water, but met a paramedic in the grocery store who assured us it was perfectly safe to drink the cold water. Yes, it's Iceland and the hot water does smell so don't drink it! Sorry to sound negative, however, if you want residential, have a car, phone and a data plan then this just might be perfect for you, but the location was not what we desired.

Review 36:We loved the large apartment. The two bedrooms, full kitchen and comfortable living room with plenty of seating for the 4 of us. It also has a dedicated parking spot. We needed more pillows, emailed the owner, got a prompt response and they were delivered as promised. When he came by, we enjoyed speaking with him and he answered all of our questions about Iceland. He was a really good host!

Review 37:Could have been cleaner - crumbs were on the floor under the table and in the bed which made us feel perhaps the complete bed hadn't been changed. Building was very noisy during the day.

Review 38:Location was excellent, close to the harbor, restaurants and shopping. Everything necessary was provided for the three of us.

Review 39:Good location and nicely finished apartment. Building still is undergoing renovation so construction can be heard during day - something like 9 AM to 5PM however this should be no problem for travellers out to see Iceland.

Review 40:Good location - convenient with 24 hour grocery store a short walk away. Short walk to town center. Clean and spacious. 3 bedrooms with kitchen with 2 bathrooms

Review 41:As it doesn't get dark this time of year, it may be good to have some thicker curtains or blinds! But generally we slept well as the bed was amazing!

Review 42:The bed was very comfy! The kitchen had everything we needed and more!

Review 43:Be careful when you book Central Apartments via Booking.com. You see the pictures from their best apartments and the map location is that of the office - not the apartement you are booking. You need to stick the address into Google maps and/or go into the website of the particular flat you were in. We did not do this and ended up with something a little more out of town, and possibly less luxurious than we were after. But it was great value for money - the least expensive and best value of all our stops in Iceland. No reason not to use this company, just check the apartment is what you are after.

Review 44:Very large apartment. Well equppied kitchen and massive Tele. Owner quick to deal with a broken blind. Comfortable beds.

Review 45:Though it may be not the hotel's fault, its web page in booking.com was confusing for me, in the sense that the address written on the top of the page was different from the actual address of the room where I stayed.

Review 46:The room was clean and comfortable. Everything was there in the kitchen, which was helpful since the food in the restaurant was generally a bit expensive in Reykjavik. The owner was very kind and helped us for every single trouble. My room had a good access to some bus stops.

Review 47:Apartment was clean and spacious, bed was comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. Apartment is a 5 minute walk away from both the centre and the harbour, so location was perfect. Overall an extremely pleasant stay.

Review 48:Could have used more pillows in the apartment. Also, coffee pods would have been nice to go with the coffee maker (or at least instructions on what kind to get).

Review 49:Beautiful space, owners were in touch and helpful. We had a great time.

Review 50:Brilliant location, clean, good facilities and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Walk into Reykjavik centre in 5 mins and lots of cafés & restaurants nearby.

Review 51:We had to be moved to this apartment (Ranagarta 46) due to a problem with the roof of the apartment we had originally booked. I have to say we were not at all disappointed. The apartment was in an excellent location - close to the harbor and only 10 minutes walk into the centre of town. The apartment itself was large, very clean, well equipped and comfortable and also very quiet. Sjonni, the owner, was very helpful and responded to all emails promptly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment. I don't have any negatives but would just suggest perhaps an additional mirror in one of the bedrooms would be useful, as there is currently only one in the bathroom and also the instruction booklets for the various appliances/TV etc seemed to be missing.

Review 52:The apartment was a little bit tired. A few things were broken on arrival, such as the latch for the separate bedroom and the door handle for the balcony. The wifi was ok, but super slow. Sometimes unusable. An oven in the kitchen would've been good. There was a lot of food we had bought over our trip that we had to throw away because of having no oven.

Review 53:The location was great, right at the start of the main street into Reykjavik. The facilities of the apartment were good, but an oven would've been nice. Free Wifi was good. Soon was very helpful and understanding when directing us over the phone.

Review 54:The keys are not fitting well into the lock of the door to the house. You have to find out the trick which can be annoying initially.

Review 55:A lot of toys for the child. She loved it and played a lot with the toy railroad.

Review 56:The windows (bedroom and lounge) need TLC. The one in the lounge could not be closed properly and it helps to have warmth in the house, especially in February. The one in the bedroom was not properly insulated either. One could hear and feel (!!!) wind! Overall sound insulation is not the strong side of the flat. The apartment block was full of Door Slammers (read local stories about the Yule Lads) and if someone needs to sleep in the lounge, vibration of the walls is guaranteed. The kitchen eating area overlooks rubbish bins, however, the lounge has a nice dining table. The bed may be too narrow for queen/king size fans.

Review 57:The flat (in Ranagata) is virtually next door to downtown Reykjavik and within 5 mins walk to the harbour. Having a kitchen helps a lot to save on food expenses. There are a few supermarkets with plenty of local foods in the area. Wi-Fi worked well.

Review 58:The noise insulation isnt too well in the apartment, so you can hear the people from upstairs and outside the apartment occasionally. The laundry in the basement was a little confusing, but we managed to get it to work after some time

Review 59:Sjonni was really nice, the power went out briefly once and we contacted him via email, he immediately got back to us and sent someone to fix it. We also broke one of the wine glass while doing dishes, Sjonni was very nice about it and asked us not to worry about it. The location is awesome, less than 5 mins away from all the restaurants and bars, but still quiet enough at night.

Review 60:There was a slight misunderstanding with the linen but it was quickly rectified without much hassle. :)

Review 61:Spacious and comfortable apartment, situated in a perfect location; on one of the main roads with a supermarket 2mins walk away, surrounded by restaurants and only a 15min walk away from the harbour. Sjonni was very helpful and even offered us a late check-out. Would definitely recommend to all and we hope to return one day soon.

Review 62:Nothing.

Review 63:Everything about this apartment was perfect. First, it's huge! When I unlocked the door my jaw dropped. The owner goes above and beyond to make sure guests have everything they need. Kitchen is stocked with many appliances, spices, and cleaning supplies. Huge bathroom! The location of the apartment is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The owner is really nice and accommodating. He answered all of our questions. It's also close to a tour pick up, AR Guesthouse. Literally, it's a two minute walk around the corner. Everything was perfect!

Review 64:The central part of Reykjavik was a good walk away. Access to shops, bars. restaurants and supermarkets would be challenging. Fortunately we hired a car.

Review 65:Comfortable, clean, spacious accommodation. The apartment is in a quieter location unlike the main part of town. A well equipped kitchen. A short walk to the Old Harbour for Whale watching trips.

Review 66:They put an extra bed in free of charge, which was brilliant ,but there were really only enough towels and crockery for two.

Review 67:Prime location for the Old Harbour

Review 68:The ONLY Negative comment i could make about the appartment is how uncomfortable the sofa bed is if used as a sofa ........ Saying that , it certainly wouldn't stop me from going back

Review 69:Position of the appartment at the top of laugavegur is brilliant ........ Walk out of the front door and you are right on the main shopping street with all the bars, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance ........ Sjonni was very helpful and even sorted us a parking space for our hire car at the rear of his office about 300 metres away ........ Spot on !!!

Review 70:Great location and very spacious apartment. The owner was really helpful, especially when my flight home was cancelled. Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.

Review 71:I like a latex Dunlopillow at home and the pillows provided were too soft for my taste. As previously stated the owner was not expecting to let this apartment so there was no information booklet available on how to operate items e.g. the TV. Although he did ask his brother to show us we forgot to ask about the TV. We did struggle to get the TV on and then when we did fathom it out there very few channnels available (no english speaking news channel), A booklet with some info on the apartment and the local area would be good. A mirror was needed in the bedrooms to dry hair safely away from the bathroom. A few more cups or mugs would be great although washing them by hand wasn't a huge issue. A small wardrobe would be good in the twin room. As previously stated the owner was not expecting this property to be let so these thing may well already be on his on his "to do list".

Review 72:Large Bathroom with great shower and lots of storage. Comfortable, warm, light apartment. Plenty of storage in the main bedroom. The owner was not quite ready to rent out this apartment but as the apartment we initially wanted was already booked (21 Vesturgata) he allowed us to rent 46 Ranargata. He had done his utmost to ensure we had everything we needed during our stay. The free wifi was great. It is in a great location on a quiet street with free parking available outside. It is walking distance to the harbour and Downtown area with it's great shops and restaurants. There is a Netto within walking distance if you need milk, bread etc. when you arrive. It was great to have towels, tea towels, dish cloths, cleaning supplies and loo rolls etc. provided as when flying with hand luggage only it's not possible to bring these things with you. A lovely stay, we hope to come again.

Review 73:I do believe for a little more you can get something better. We stayed at Laugavegur 128 and it was at the far end of the street so shops and restaurants were a 5/10 minute walk. The old part of town and marina were more like 20-30 minutes walk. Overall the apartment was quite tired looking and needed a little bit of a refurbishment, especially the kitchen which felt like stepping into the 60's or 70's. The pictures do oversell it a little I think. As it is on the main road if you are sleeping in the sofa bed in the lounge it can get quite noisy at night. One of the rooms is off the main apartment (only 2 feet) but it is something to consider if perhaps you are a family with small children.

Review 74:Our stay at the apartments was enjoyable and good value for money. This is an acceptable apartment if you are a big group (up to 8) on a budget.

Review 75:Maybe a small microwave in the kitchen

Review 76:Location was excellent. Owner very helpful on arrival & departure Apartment well furnished & spotlessly clean.

Review 77:The sleeping bank was a little weak.

Review 78:In the shopping street. The roof terasse. Nice style of the appartement, modern and clean. Good informed by the staff. Good kitchen, beautiful master bedroom.

Review 79:Road sweepers start early but that's not their fault !!

Review 80:Central location, really warm, great shower and really helpful contact by Sjonni before and after our trip

Review 81:The bedroom was a little dark downstairs, but the facilities in the apartment more than made up for that.

Review 82:The location and contact with the owner Sjonni was brilliant. We were right near bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets and could easily walk to the harbour. It was easy to access the apartment which was always beautifully warm and had everything we needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Review 83:No salt and pepper in the kitchen. Poor ventilation in the bathroom - very humid and wet after showering.

Review 84:Location, nearby food stores, all the necessary comfort that you need to relax, spacious, free WiFi, reasonable pricing, friendly and helpful staff and neighbors. Availability of a washing machine.

Review 85:A bit noisy during the night, the sofabed is getting a bit old

Review 86:Central location, large apartment, 2 beds, excellent Wi-Fi, well equipped, very clear explanation from landlord

Review 87:Several keys need to be changed as they were worn out. However, it means there are a lot of guests staying this apartment! :)

Review 88:Perfect location! Just a few blocks away out of the city centre but quiet enough because it is located in residential area. The owner was very helping out when I had a problem. Also, you can have a washing machine in the basemnet. Lastly, the interior was great.

Review 89:Could provide a user guide explaining for example use of washing machine (the machine's functions were written in Islandic) and where free parking can be found (there is no daytime free parking in front of the apartment but I found free parking spaces only a few blocks away).

Review 90:Location, Location, Location. The apartment is in the center of the action. It's close to a grocery store and bakery. It has all the necessary creature comforts. The patio was great for winding down after a day of hiking and/or visiting.

Review 91:There weren't enough keys for everyone in our group, so we could have used a doorbell or some way of alerting people upstairs that someone was at the door.

Review 92:The apartment was easy to find, and a great place to hang out. We did have a problem that the keybox was jammed shut when we arrived, but the owner was able to send a friend of his with a spare set of keys to us in about 10 minutes. The blackout curtains worked great.

Review 93:Great location of a great fully equiped clean apartment. Owner of the apartment was really nice and helpfull (via phone), really enjoyed our stay.

Review 94:Everything was perfect, would highly recommend!

Review 95:Great location.

Review 96:Lots of room for a family, nice spacious apartment in a good location with a 5 mins walk to Reykjavik.

Review 97:Best take a taxi from the bus station if you don't know the area

Review 98:Warm, clean, well equipped

Review 99:Parking is a bit of a hassle, but manageable.

Review 100:Spacious, clean and close to great places!

Review 101:Really amazing apartment, everything new and clean. Walking distance to everywhere. Highly recommended.

Review 102:Location, superb . Lovely large kitchen dining area and longe combined. Plenty of relaxation room, without having to resort to lying in the bedrooms.

Review 103:Small bathroom.

Review 104:Good location. Value for money. Owner quickly adjusted slight mistake in charges.

Review 105:Lovely flat, good location

Review 106:No microwave.

Review 107:Location is excelent and standard is very good.

Review 108:everything was very good and perfect! next time I will try to get the same apartment...

Review 109:Very close to the harbour, and good restaurants with a view of the sea and in a quiet, pleasant residential neighbourhood.

Review 110:nothing

Review 111:A1 Location good clean comfy property

Review 112:Great location. Spacious. Good communication. Clean and well supplied.

Review 113:Perfect location, modern and had all you needed.

Review 114:Excellent value for money and just a few minutes walk from the centre.

Review 115:Good location, free on street parking.

Review 116:Having to leave!

Review 117:Fantastic apartment, fantastic location, fantastic holiday!

Review 118:Owner's helpfulness and friendliness. Stylish and comfortable apartment in a quiet quarter, only 5 min walk from city center.

Review 119:A little out of the centre of town - about a 10 minute walk.

Review 120:Comfortable apartment with all necessary equipment for an extended stay

Review 121:The location was fabulous. The apartment had everything we needed including a fully equipped kitchen. I could not have asked for better.

Review 122:Carrying luggage up stairs

Review 123:Everything else.
