Reviews for Villa Cilnia Relais & Spa
Review 1:Arezzo is a horribly boring town. Would not recommend a stay of more than one day if you want to see something other than nature.
Review 2:The hotel itself was very lovely; staff was friendly and helpful; the restaurant was to die for. Wine was very good. Surrounding landscape was beautiful.
Review 3:For northern travellers the Italian breakfast is awful;five kinds of cake but no good bread-only cardboard tasting bread. There was a lot of reading about what is and is not allowed-very off-putting.
Review 4:The location is wonderful, also the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 5:Breakfast time: in such a place where guests want to relax and maybe sleep longer, I would suggest to prolongate the breakfast time till 12:00
Review 6:Excellent location Amazing SPA experience
Review 7:No public rooms to sit in, only the terrace which was not very warm. No food or drink available during the day so more like a B&B than hotel. Very steep stairs to room.
Review 8:Lovely gardens with olive groves and vineyards. Beautiful swimming pool. Very stylish decor and fittings. Nice to get out of Arezzo to such a peaceful place.
Review 9:Ignorant staff that shouldn't be working in hospitality, when you arrive the first thing they do is make you sigma. Copy of their house rules! Nice welcome!! Really annoying extra charges too, like if you have a second coffee at breakfast they charge you! Poor massage, restaurant closed for a private function which kept us awake until the small hours, made worse by not even an attempt to get us any food. Upon check out they have me a 5 euro bottle of olive oil as some pathetic compensation
Review 10:Nice location despite being hard to find
Review 11:Just be aware that you have to drive into the town or get a taxi (30 Euros return). The shuttle service mentioned in some reviews no longer runs. This was one of 5 Tuscan hotels we stayed in and we felt that compared to the others, breakfast was very average and needed to offer a wider choice of local meats and cheeses for a hotel of this standard. Only 1 choice of sliced ham and cheese was available which is a shame in an area rich in local produce. However, these are small points and we would recommend this hotel.
Review 12:The buildings here have been tastefully and beautifully renovated. Beautiful setting in a vineyard and olive grove. Lovely views from the restaurant. Guests are invited to a wine tasting setting which was very enjoyable. The swimming pool is lovely. We stayed in a deluxe room. The decor was very contemporary but the room still retained much of the original character of the building, such as a beamed ceiling. We also had a lovely massage. Arezzo is a lovely town to stay in. Lots of good bars and restaurants and less touristy than many Tuscan towns.
Review 13:As always, breakfast in Italy is a bit of a disappointment. WIFI is dreadfully bad, partly because of the thick stone walls but bad setup, it appears.
Review 14:The swimming pool is small but very! nice. The location of the hotel with sweeping views of the hills around, is really Tuscany. Restaurant is among the best in the area.
Review 15:Seemed like the reception staff stalked us. By the time I left the room and walked to the front desk (30 sec), they had searched our room and accused us of stealing a soap dish. They were the only hotel (of 40 hotel stays) that charged our credit card upon getting our reservation request thru Michellin. Rules are ok... The just need to enforce them while providing customer service and respect.
Review 16:Simon, the sommelier was awesome. Restaurant staff was great too. Massage staff was the best. Great people, except for the one receptionist... Grab a glass of wine a sit at the pond...
Review 17:Need to improve the aircon in the basic room we stayed in the weather was hot and the aircon was not cold enough.
Review 18:Loved the location, facilities and the staff were fantastic.
Review 19:Restaurant menu was very limited! No options for lunch or snacks during the day.
Review 20:Location and setting was lovely, Staff were friendly and helpful. Wine tasting was good fun with other guests..Spa was small but professionally set up and treatments were very good.
Review 21:For a high end resort the menu was limited, they were out of the first three wines we selected, and the food itself was mediocre. The breakfast was not even worth a laugh. Sorry to be so harsh but.....it was so out of character to the rest of the place.
Review 22:Beautiful grounds, fantastic rooms, the staff was nice and helpful. The spa was tremendous, overall I would rate very high but, oops
Review 23:It was a little difficult to find with our google maps instructions, but we called and they were able to direct us very quickly and easily.
Review 24:Extremely comfortable rooms in a relaxing environment. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Staff was helpful and pleasant. We really enjoyed the wet zone/spa area and I had an excellent massage as well. The complimentary tasting out on the patio was perfect. Breakfast here was the best of all the places we stayed. They accommodated my dietary restrictions and I enjoyed the most amazing gluten free croissant as well as delicious fruit, cheeses, etc. I highly recommend staying here!
Review 25:We thought it would have been nice to have had a bar area for when you came back from being out all day.
Review 26:The accomodation was very good, and the staff were very helpfull.
Review 27:Would've been nice if there was a bar/lounge area. Swimming pool was out of servive during our stay but that's just one of those things.
Review 28:The hotel and it's location we're stunning. The room was also really lovely. Staff we're very friendly too.
Review 29:we didn't have a bad experience but found the food in the restaurant not always well cooked and the menu always the same. However the service was excellent - smiling and helpful. Breakfast poor.
Review 30:the kindness and helpfulness of staff.
Review 31:I left my iphone charger cord and asked that they send it to me at european address. They directed me to a website for a courrier service that i should organize at a cost of euro 35. They refused to send it to me by post. We had stayed in the most expensive room.not good service!
Review 32:The hotel had a really cold feeling, a lot of stone and harsh materials. Not many guests around, we only saw one couple - no surprise after all... There were lots of stairs and nobody who offered to help with our luggage. The room was tiny, it had one window in a hight of 2 meters, the entrance was directly opposite of another room, no privacy. No place to sit outside... It was hot at night, no air circulating possible. Also they put new paint on the floor a week ago and it smelled really bad. Why did they give us that room? The breakfast was the worst we had, there was no bread or bread rolls, they forget the coffee, it was an awful silence in the room. At checkout when we complaint they said its the staffs fault and about the smelly room "so why didn't you ask for another one?" No excuse from the unfriendly receptionist. When we asked for a discount because of the unpleasant stay they said "no, booking.com is charging so high fees, there is no discount possible". We felt really foolished and do not recommend this hotel at all. There are lots of other nicer places to stay, lead by owners who care about their guests more personally.
Review 33:Mattress was good, bathroom new and high quality facilities
Review 34:Breakfast feels like a small collection of left-overs Cantina was closed Lots of steep hills and steps.
Review 35:Staff were wonderfully friendly Restaurant is lovely with great food Love the surroundings The spa is nice. Not the best I've ever seen as few actual facilities. Very relaxing though. Rooms very nicely decorated
Review 36:it was raining so we got soaked by the time we took our luggage to the room but the worst thing was that when we arrived we were told that we couldn't have our room till 3pm and that check out was at 10am the folioing morning. Never experienced this before!
Review 37:View was good (not great) from our room but the window was only accessible from a ladder. Seemed to be completely geared to a destination wedding.
Review 38:Spa in the villa was great but we didn't have time to do everything. The restaurant was super.
Review 39:The spa wasn't what I thought it would be. There is a steam room, and a large room with a very odd jacuzzi and the temperature of the water was tepid. The accommodations were very modern but comfortable, but the bathroom was a bit impractical. They need towel racks and more space for one's cosmetics and such.
Review 40:We enjoyed the restaurant and the staff there. Would have enjoyed the outdoor pool, but unfortunately we were there during a rainy week in mid-October. The hotel is a converted agriturissimo and is nicely located for trips into the town of Arezzo and Cortona, but you definitely need a car. The bed was quite comfortable. Views of the vineyards were lovely.
Review 41:Better wifi connection would have been useful as we were working a lot but not too big an issue.
Review 42:Loved the location - not in the centre but easy enough to reach with a car. Beautiful views, decent brekky, spa session in the morning before departure, clean facilities.
Review 43:Our room was very small, but very clean, fresh and comfortable.
Review 44:The grounds were beautiful. We walked around the property and took I the views. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant.
Review 45:The check in took ages. The kettle in our room did not fit their plugs and the woman at reception seemed put out when I asked for an adaptor. Lot of road noise by the pool. Difficult to find. GPS is wrong but reception seemed not to care.
Review 46:The maitre d'hotel in restaurant who was great.
Review 47:I would have like a view of the vinyards
Review 48:On a working wine farm
Review 49:We were expecting a better breakfast. Be also aware you have to check out at 10am. Way too early.
Review 50:Location. Views
Review 51:Breakfast selection lacked variety of food.
Review 52:- I ordered a crisp pork for dinner and it came 80% fat and 20% meat. - the internet does not work
Review 53:Breakfast was a bit boring.
Review 54:Service was great. Clean rooms. Amazing surroundings. Tranquil.
Review 55:Very bad almost inexistent WI-Fi. Could not get any service during the day. Will not go back.
Review 56:Very nice location. Staff were very helpful.
Review 57:The vineyard ,the landscape
Review 58:hard to find, bad description
Review 59:nice and friendly people location good good restaurant
Review 60:location
Review 61:Swinning pool, excellent quite location. Place to dream. Nice people. Wellness & Spa available. Recommendable!
Review 62:A very nice accommodation in the countryside.
Review 63:We loved everything about our stay at Villa Cilnia, the people , theplace,(gorgeous!) the facilities. There is nothing not to like. We alsotook a tour with Simonè of the vineyard, (hope I'm spelling thatright), he was wonderful, very gracious and sweet, also knowledgeableabout the wine...which was exceptional!! Highly recommended!! This wasthe best location close to Arezzo(10 mins) drivable to Cortona.
Review 64:The restaurant experience was a mixed bag, and for the price would have expected more. Some staff were great, but didn't like being told many of the facilities were out of service due to the season when we were a few days out from 1st June and summer season. Also found it odd that we couldn't sit on the terrace unless we were eating or drinking produce from the villa. We were then allowed to do this when we questioned staying if we couldn't use the pool, BBQ area or terrace.
Review 65:Location and view. Nice wine and delicious olive oil. Some staff were excellent. Free shuttle service to town centre.
Review 66:Outdoor pool is seasonal, so make sure it's open when you go, if it's important to you.
Review 67:First class staff, with excellent language skills, English, Russian, Spanish etc. The food was superb in the restaurant.
Review 68:Would have liked a more casual option for dinner also. Shower stall a little on the small size.
Review 69:The staff were very obliging and helpful to ensure our needs were met. Rooms very comfortable and modern. Wonderful view and environment. Breakfast buffet excellent. Fine dining at restaurant excellent.
Review 70:Wonderful views. Stylish room with lovely decor. Very peaceful place. Note should be made of the excellent breakfast waitress who went the extra mile by personally purchasing an item I requested. Lovely helpful manager.
Review 71:Nothing not to like
Review 72:Extremely lovely setting. Apparently just opened late last year. Unbelievably well prepared property. Staff was super helpful and the restaurant is high end.
Review 73:i ordered a room with 2 beds. i got to the hotel ans was surprized to find out that all rooms had only double beds and i had to pay for an extra room !!!!!!!! this is very unfair
Review 74:Everything.
Review 75:Impossible to find
Review 76:the location is by far the best place to stay in Tuscany. Super central for all the small town hopping
Review 77:The restaurant was excellent, staff were friendly, it was an excellent stay
