Reviews for Hotel Portici
Review 1:Parking way too far away, (4 blocks),breakfast( want some hot food)entrance was dirty and scary
Review 2:Location, staff, responsive is to problems, heat, info on restaurants
Review 3:Nothing - all good here
Review 4:Great hotel with helpful staff. Arezzo is a good location for day trips to Florence / Siena. Room clean and quiet - many thanks.
Review 5:The entrance is dingy and somewhat creepy, as is the hotel itself. Rooms are very dated. Air conditioner didn't work very well. Breakfast pastries sat out for days and were stale. Worst of all, we paid over $200 a night - FAR more than any of the other, much better hotels in larger cities. Four stars??? Mind boggling.
Review 6:Great location.
Review 7:The entrance to the building was difficult to find and once inside was quite unwelcoming, as was the lift. When we got out on the 4th floor, where the hotel is situated, we were reassured and had a great stay.
Review 8:The accommodation was lovely. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.
Review 9:Access to the hotel to drop off luggage and collect luggage is a problem, there is no drop off point and the nearest car park is some distance away.
Review 10:The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to look after us, very good!!
Review 11:Lift not working when we arrived, which meant a steep climb to hotel. Staff very apologetic and carried bags.
Review 12:Very warm and helpful staff. Huge and quiet room.
Review 13:The free wifi in our room was patchy but no real problem.
Review 14:We had a small balcony overlooking the rooftops of Arezzo which was an unexpected pleasure and the bathroom was palatial. The staff struck an lovely balance between being professional and yet seeming like old friends. We think of our couple of day in Arezzo as an oasis of calm during a very full holiday and would happily stay at Hotel Portici again.
Review 15:No convenient parking...had to get up to feed the meter. Our room was accessed just off reception and the dining area. The approach to its 4th floor location needs to be improved.
Review 16:Room was fine and well equipped when we got the door closed
Review 17:WiFi signal a bit weak
Review 18:Good friendly and efficient staff. Great location near station in old part of Arezzo and close to all historical sites a d good shopping.
Review 19:Nothing negative to say.
Review 20:I found this hotel just be googling around. I liked the look of it, and, in the reviews, I was especially impressed that whenever there was anything negative said, the very courteous reply of the managements, be it an explanation or an apology, was also posted. That means the hotel cares about service. And my experience is they do, indeed. Daniel, at reception was wonderful--welcoming, smiling and helpful in so many waysl. The same can be said of all staff. That really makes a difference, especially if you're a foreigner. In addition, location, appearance, breakfast buffet, all the other things were great.
Review 21:The hotel is located in the forth floor of an old building with few rooms and does not feel at all like a 4 stars hotel. It is very basic. Parking is not available nearby. Breakfast is quite poor. Very disappointing for 4 stars hotel.
Review 22:The room was large and nicely designed.
Review 23:Small bedroom no car parking? But Arezzo is difficult and pretty basic breakfast
Review 24:Central local and helpful staff very convenient
Review 25:Poor wifi
Review 26:Staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful Moved us to a suite when one became available
Review 27:Location superb
Review 28:Great location and lovely quiet room
Review 29:Easy to get to on foot from the RR station, even with luggage.
Review 30:Parking. Had to park my car at a garage 15 minutes walking distance fro hotel.
Review 31:The Location
Review 32:The staff is professional and friendly, service with a smile to accommodate all you needs.
Review 33:Cannot think of anything that we did not like.
Review 34:location, value for money and friendly, helpful staff.
Review 35:The hotel staff most accommodating. Cleanliness of Hotel Location
Review 36:We had a car, and though one reviewer mentioned they parked in front of the hotel, these spaces are for 1/2 hour loading only. The free lot is not too far away, and very secure. However, the entrance to the lot was often a challenge. Too difficult to describe here, but the next time we visit, we will come without a car.
Review 37:We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Portici, and our stay in Arezzo. The room was great, but it was the staff who made every effort to assist in any way they could, that made this hotel special. The location was very convenient to both inner city and train.
Review 38:I do not believe this gloomy tight place with terrible beds has four stars.
Review 39:The location is perfect to beautiful old town Arezzo. They have a "smoking spot" out side with a lovely view over Arrezzo's roofs.
Review 40:Only negative was poor Wi Fi reception.
Review 41:Very friendly staff . Large, clean bedroom and bathroom. Excellent location as close to both railway and bus stations and local tourist office thus enabling easy travel to such places as Cortona, Asissi, Siena, SanSepulchro.
Review 42:Their "new" rooms are very sparse and nothing seems towork, even after being moved to another room. Toilet seats falloff, lights do not work, power points do not work or are coming out of thewall, the hot water only ever gets luke warm even when the system isturned on high and even then there is no hot water pressure.I Feel thatthe people who have given the rooms great reviews in the past expectvery little from their accommodation. If this was Euro 105.00 per nightit would be fair but anything over that price is not worth paying. Thecakes for breakfast were sensational however there was not much else toeat. This is also a Euro 10.00 from the train station but a 10 minutewalk to the city centre when u get there so that's easy.
Review 43:The staff are excellent as everybody states. They really go out of theirway to assist and are very polite. This is really the only plus for us.
Review 44:By far our best experience in Italy! The location was excellent; close to the train, many great restaurants, super shopping, and all the historic sites. The staff were exceptional; from check-in to the lovely breakfasts each morning to the meticulously clean rooms. We loved every moment and were made to feel at home during our stay. We were traveling with our teenage children and my older parents. Every member of the family felt comfortable and pampered at this lovely hotel. We will definitely be back!
Review 45:Breakfast was a little boring and nothing much for a gluten free option. The elevator was a bit old and looked tired.
Review 46:Staff were friendly and helpful, always had a smile. The bathroom was a little spa and the bedroom very comfortable.
Review 47:The car park was difficult to locate as initial directions would have required going the wrong way up a one way street. While the bedroom was really quite spacious, the bathroom was a bit tight - but the jet shower really made up for it. A welcome luxury after a hot day sight seeing.
Review 48:Lovely little boutique hotel with a real personal touch. The staff really couldn't do enough to make us feel at home. The continental breakfast was quite a spread and brings to mind the "let them eat cake" quote.
Review 49:Larger room than expected, exceptionally clean, safe and in good location. Staff was friendly, warm, accommodating and welcoming. Large selection of breakfast foods – wonderful coffee. In room safe, close to great shopping at affordable prices. Don’t expect everyone to speak English. Could walk from train station to hotel.
Review 50:Internet access was difficult from the room. Floor was vaibrtation by walking. Door was hard to open/close and noisy. Key to the door was hard to understand whether it was locked or not.
Review 51:Location is very close to the Arrezo station(it takes only 5 min. by walk even if I had big luggage) and good access to the sightseeing place. Early check-out in next morning was accepted with smile face and beakfast was also prepared before usual operation time.
Review 52:All was very well.
Review 53:Central position. Very nice room with large and spacious bath. Staff very sweet and helpful, gave us a very good tip for a very good restaurant nearby.
Review 54:Any time spent here would be a very quiet time, unless you also spenttime in the modern part of town.
Review 55:The hotel is very convenient to both the train station and the oldsection of town. The breakfast was diverse with multiple pastries andcakes as well as meat and cheese. There was an elevator. Arezzo is awonderful town to get a sense of Italian life. It has the most charmingsquare surrounded by buildings from previous centuries all decoratedwith medieval flags. We spent a lot of time trying the local food anddrink and enjoying the piazza. Arezzo is known for truffles and wildboar. The meat and cheese give you a different taste of Italy. Arezzo isalso known for it's antiques, and there is all sorts of littlestores to explore. It has an antique fair the first weekend of everymonth that fills the square. My daughter in law went to it and said itwas phenomenal. Twice a year it has a jousting tournament. I think thatwould be interesting to see.
Review 56:Everything! The hotel is very convenient to the train station - only a very easy 5 minute walk with luggage! The hotel is nicely decorated and has a wonderful historic feel. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful - also spoke excellent English! The breakfast buffet was a feast with a variety of breads, sweets, meats, cheeses, eggs and juices. The location was within easy walking distance of San Francesco, Piazza Grande, the Duomo and other sights in Arezzo. We will definitely stay at Hotel I Portici on our next visit to Arezzo!!
Review 57:I had a wonderful room: a big one, very quiete (as I asked), and with a beatiful view on the roof of Arezzo. I found a very good price on Booking and I'm really satisfied.
Review 58:Less sweet things for breakfast- at least 8 different cakes, fresh bread, lift is off-putting but works well
Review 59:Location, very helpful staff, especially when I was sick, lovely room, quiet and well-functioning curtains- a rarity, good tea, coffee, hot chocolate, grateful staff as we stayed 4 nights, lovely Easter small eggs and very good too
Review 60:Nothing. Everything was great
Review 61:Staff were so helpful. A great place to stay
Review 62:good breakfast selection
Review 63:- Parking arrangements
Review 64:- Central location - Wi Fi
Review 65:Very friendly and helpful staff. Their cheerfulness was a big plus.
Review 66:Very disappointed in the breakfast considering how much we paid - no eggs.
Review 67:A beautiful room and a very helpful young lady.
Review 68:Nothing it was better than expected
Review 69:Friendly and attentive staff who genuinely showed an interest in my enjoying my time in Arezzo
Review 70:Just know that the hotel is on the 4 th floor and there is a pretty small elevator
Review 71:We really enjoyed our 2 nights this very nice boutique hotel
Review 72:Lovely upstairs hotel in downtown. Easy to find and good parking. Nice breakfast. Since it is downtown, lots of nice shops and food close by.
Review 73:Bed was too firm.
Review 74:Breakfast,friendly and accommodating staff, appealing room and bathroom, central to train station and shops.
Review 75:Location Free parking
