Reviews for Reykjavik Residence Apartment Hotel
Review 1:From the warm and hospitable welcome to calling my airport shuttle as I left, the wonderful staff couldn't do enough to help me out. Rooms are comfortable, very well appointed, quiet and cozy. Bed was very comfortable and I slept like a corpse each night. Tap water was like champagne. Property is close to everything. Just a wonderful place to stay.
Review 2:Excellent staff, great service. We opted for breakfast with the room. Fresh loaves of bread every morning, plentiful food and freshly done. Convenient location to everything. Just can't say enough...
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:We were offered a free upgrade to a one bedroom apartment which was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with queries. The hotel was in an excellent location being located on the street next to the main shopping street, yet it was very quiet. Would highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again if we return to Iceland.
Review 5:We can recommend this apartment without hesitation: from the overall comfort (excellent, spacious, and warm), to the location (a five minute walk to the centre), and finally the little things(fresh orange juice and milk supplied every day). Given the high price of eating out in Iceland, having a self contained flat with kitchen made life easier and less expensive. Finally, despite the close proximity to the centre it was also possible to drive out into the open spaces within 20 minutes. All in all an ideal place to stay.
Review 6:This is an older set of buildings, and did not have an elevator, so it will not fit every traveler's needs. Specifically, we were upgraded to a beautiful 2-bedroom apartment--my daughter was ready to take up residence because it had Everything. But, it was on a second/third floor and was accessed only via narrow, winding stairs.
Review 7:The staff was outstanding and could not have been more accommodating: early check-in (for a fee, but when your plane gets in at 6:30 AM, well worth it), help with locations, taxis, computer, anything we asked for was immediately provided with a smile. The rooms were clean with well equipped kitchens. The location was very good and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 8:Perfect location and a really nice place to stay. It's like staying in a modern, well furnished apartment. Felt comfortable and at home. Also includes free parking which was handy.
Review 9:The location is great, it is very convenient to go around the city. I really love the decoration of the room. The apartment is so popular with reasonable price. It is a bit shame that I was able to stay for just one night during my trip in Reykjavik. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.
Review 10:The apartment could be more sound proof although it was acceptable. The window in the living-area did not have a blinding curtain, which let some light in during the night.
Review 11:We loved the setup and decor. Location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik (very central) apart from it being at a busy road (mostly cars).
Review 12:The location was excellent, also the staff especially the male staff, helped with all questions and bookings. Very comfortable accommodation, nice things like milk juice and cereal put in room.
Review 13:One night stay. We were upgraded. I live learning how people update older buildings and the design was planned with care. It's location was so central that we were able to see what we wanted in the little time we had
Review 14:Great place! Offered and provided early check in - so worth it when your flight gets in at 0510 and the sun doesn't rise until 1100! They were also able to provide an upgrade to their Suites which was very nice and felt like a home away from home. Also close to everything and helpful staff with the multiple tours that we took while there.
Review 15:We felt that we should not have been charged 15 Euros per person for breakfast on the second day when they simply replenished a few items on an already full tray and brought fresh bread. Unless you are able to eat the whole tray of goodies it is not cost effective.
Review 16:The location was perfect. The apartment was cosy and well equipped.
Review 17:The day we arrived there was a hurricane warning, the staff supplied pizzas and noodles so we didn't need to venture out. They went over and above to help us with trips and with anything we asked for.
Review 18:Not a thing! Perfect stay!
Review 19:The staff is so incredible and welcoming. They not only took the time to find us dinner reservations but then when we were running late from one of our day excursions, they called the restaurant to make sure they had still saved us our table.
Review 20:Our sink outside our bathroom was clogged and used mugs inside the dishwasher. Other than that, the place was perfect. They should just improve their housekeeping.
Review 21:We liked the location and the cleanliness of the rooms.
Review 22:Extremely comfortable, clean, well equipped apartment, excellent downtown location close to many restaurants and stores, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, basket of gourmet foods delivered each afternoon (more than enough for breakfast and another meal), fresh bread from Sandholt bakery delivered each morning. All this, and I was upgraded on check-in to a larger room! Fabulous experience.
Review 23:There weren't any elevators but this is only a minor issue given that it was only 3 levels.
Review 24:The hotel was selected for the convenience of being close to the hub of the city. The rooms were spacious and clean and there were many inclusions including cereal, coffee machine (topped up everyday), stove for basic cooking. Staff were very friendly and were able to organise tours to fill our itinerary.
Review 25:Parking would be an issue but we paid for parking in the multi story across the road.
Review 26:We were upgraded to Royal suite - and it was amazing - loads of space for the two of us. Great facilities and in the middle of everything in the heart of town.
Review 27:Best place we stayed in Iceland. The location is perfect - on a street parallel to the main shopping street in Reykjavik, so it's central but quiet. Also about 3 minute walk from a very cheap parking house if you've rented a car, and there's an amazing bakery just around the corner. The building is beautiful, our triple room was warm, clean and tastefully decorated. Complimentary tea, coffee, cornflakes and milk were replenished every day which was an unexpected helpful perk! Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We were lucky to get this hotel at half price as we went off-season, but I would happily pay full price to stay here again.
Review 28:the rooms were a bit small with no wardrobe for clothes and for the price per night it would be nice to have a bath. if it was £25 a night cheaper it would of been 5 stars for everythbng
Review 29:the receptionist staff were possible y the most friendliest I have ever encountered,
Review 30:Nothing to complain about.
Review 31:There's so many little touches that make this hotel stand out, staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating and the room was a good size with a modern kitchenette making it easy to eat in if you choose, also the basket of various different foods which is delivered to your room in the evening in addition to fresh bread in the morning was amazing and saved a fortune, would and definitely will return.
Review 32:we were on the first floor so the narrow spiral staircase was a challenge but worth it.
Review 33:Absolutely gorgeous apartment in great central location . The staff were all really helpful and the breakfast basket was fantastic. We had fresh bread, cheese, pates , yoghurts and fruit delivered daily. Also great coffee machine and fresh orange juice. The beds were really comfy and the apartment was so spacious it was easy to relax and socialise. A large dining table meant we could all sit comfortably together to start our day off with breakfast together. I would recommend this hotel for groups of friends or families.
Review 34:Nothing, the whole stay was wonderful.
Review 35:The apartment was lovely and clean, excellent location! Staff were so helpful with everything, helped us book our excursions and even locate a pharmacy out of hours. When we return to Iceland I'll definitely be staying here again.
Review 36:Amazing staff and beautiful room! The hotel is in a great position in down town Reykjavik with easy access to the main shops and harbour. Our room was beautiful and had a sky light which meant we saw the northern lights from our bed on the last evening- which was pretty great. The staff are friendly and helpful-happily recommending places to eat and asking about how good our day trips had been. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be returning again in the future!
Review 37:we were travelling for a special birthday celebration and the residence upgraded us to a suite which was lovely. I think it may be a little noisy in the summer as it is right on the street but as it was winter it was ideal and we found free on street parking just round the corner. Staff were very helpful as we went to the wrong address at first.
Review 38:Nothing.
Review 39:The staff were amazing and so helpful, going the extra mile. The room was beautiful and fully equipped with everything we needed. Location was spot on. The hotel added so much more to our trip.
Review 40:Unfortunately we were there on a Friday night and the Sports Bar across the street was extremely loud until closing time--well after 2 am. We were unable to sleep until the bar closed.
Review 41:The young lady who checked us in was outstanding…she saw to our every need whether it was suggesting and reserving dining or seeing that our late baggage was placed in our room. She was very nice and a true asset to the hotel staff. Also, we loved the room--beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
Review 42:Only hand-held shower - a fixed wall shower would be better.
Review 43:Very friendly, helpful staff. Good idea for breakfast (tray of cheeses, breads, eggs etc with enough for sandwiches later). Very comfortable beds and spacious room. Good to have cooking facilities. Superb location in centre.
Review 44:Beautiful, quality hotel. The hotel feels really warm and friendly and the interior is of a really high spec. The complimentary breakfast is fantastic. Oh and the location is bang in the centre of Reykjavik!
Review 45:Beautiful room. Hotel staff were all very friendly. We had booked a nonrefundable stay but then our flights were cancelled. The hotel was so helpful. They let us change the dates for no extra charge and even upgraded us on arrival. We chose this hotel based on the reviews and we were not disappointed! I will recommend it to anyone travelling to Reykjavik.
Review 46:Fantastic location and staff were so helpful and accommodating, breakfast hamper was amazing and very very plentiful, apartment comfortable and everything we wanted and more, would definitely recommend
Review 47:We stayed on the top floor so we had the inclined window on the roof, which made the apartment a bit stuffy. We had 5 girls so would have been better if we had stayed in a 2-bathroom apartment.
Review 48:Very friendly staff. He actually helped us find parking space and recommend takeaway for us! And the apartment is clean and basic amenities are all provided! The mattress was pretty comfy too.
Review 49:The street noise does waif up and I could see that it could potentially be a problem on a rowdy friday or saturday night. It was not an issue for us and I think earplugs would do the trick.
Review 50:Upscale accomodations in a central location with kitchenette. Everything was first class including the wifi. Would like to stay longer.
Review 51:Couldn't have asked for more from our accommodation, centrally located, roomy and of show home standard, staff who can't do enough to help, high standard of cleanliness, would have to be really picky to fault it! Would definitely stay here again and strongly advise anyone visiting Reykjavik to do so. Fantastic.
Review 52:Having to come home was our only downside to our whole trip!
Review 53:We were in walking distance of everywhere right in the centre of Reykjavik. But we were not on a noisy street so it was just perfect. Our suit was just stunning. The breakfast each morning was delicious. We had plenty to take out for lunch while on trips. The staff were all lovely and in Iceland in general everyone was very friendly.
Review 54:As it is in centre of town, can be noisy at weekends.
Review 55:Great location in centre of town. There are two seperate buildings, we stayed in the suites. Clean, comfortable spacious . Staff very helpful nothing is a problem.
Review 56:We had a ground floor apartment, lack of lift would be a problem for higher floors
Review 57:Accommodation in excellent position. Premises were spotless. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 58:We could have done with some larger cooking pots. The flat really should have an additional toilet as the only toilet is in a bathroom for six people. There can be quite a lot of noise from the street late at night which can disturb people sleeping in the bedroom facing on to the street. Also quite a lot of noise from the flat above which we could hear, i.e. running about.
Review 59:The flat was perfect for six adults. The breakfasts were very generous and with high quality provisions. It is very near to the City centre and lots of good shops and restaurants near by.
Review 60:Great location and lovely appartment, loved the breakfast basked (delivered the night before, so you can sleep in) - enough to make a lunchpack and have an evening snack, superb for travelling with kids. But the most outstanding thing is the staff, always extremely helpful, going the extra mile with a smile. Gave us more of our favorite food for breakfast, called several different companies to check the best option for day tours, a five star rating for the service!
Review 61:Great central location Gorgeous apartment Comfy beds I left my phone and the staff have posted it back to me, most impressed as I am pretty sure I wount have got this back in most places.
Review 62:The Reykjavik Residence Suites are very comfortable and perfectly located. Reykjavik is very expensive but this small property is a bargain in the area.
Review 63:difficult to park outside hotel, but wasn't a problem as there was a pay and display about 100 m away which was not expensive
Review 64:the beds were very comfortable and the apartment was spacious
Review 65:My apartment was at the front of the building and got a lot of street noise. Since many of the popular clubs are only a block or so away, there was noise most of the night. If you're a light sleeper be sure to ask for a unit away from the street.
Review 66:Beautiful apartment, super nice and efficient staff. They made an extra effort to have my place ready early since I came in on an early flight.
Review 67:For the cost of the accommodation breakfast / fresh delivery of bread should be included for all guests.
Review 68:Accommodation very clean. Staff helpful. Location is perfect.
Review 69:Parking is about 3 spots so we had to pay to park in a garage.
Review 70:We stayed in 3 bedroom newly renovated apartment. Beautiful kitchen. Full washer/dryer.
Review 71:The only thing was not having a stand up shower, but the bath worked almost as good
Review 72:We loved the location, how friendly and helpful all the Staff where, how easy it was to book an excursion through them. The breakfast basket was also amazing!
Review 73:Two mature couples - Had the pleasure of staying in the 3 bedroom apartment in the annex of this hotel, which is in a beautifully restored historic house. Online photos don't do it justice - more spacious and tastefully decorated than photos indicate. Equipped like a home - good sized kitchen with stainless appliances and seating for six, large separate lounge, washer, dryer, plenty of amenities. Beds and linens are excellent, abundant bath towels and luxury toiletries. Location perfect for access to main pedestrian area. Cannot fault this place! Highly recommend it.
Review 74:This hotel would be perfect if not for the bars across the street that are unbelievably loud on weekend nights until 4 or even 6 am. Even earplugs not adequate to block out noise if you are in a front room. It is sad there is no noise ordinance in Reykavik.
Review 75:This was a magnificently renovated old property with very modern kitchent and bathrooms. Spacious. apartment with separate besroom and kitxhen with bar and living area. Two televisions. I heard rooms in Reykavik were typically small so since we were there five nights the extra room was welcome. Tasteful original period art. Terrific linens. Top of everything. The breakfast food is cereal and fresh milk daily, juice coffee and tea in the room which is so convenient. Dinner recs were right on and did not break the bank. Also although we arrived at 8 am and check in eas 2 we were welcomed with tea and our room readied without extra charge. A great boutique property.
Review 76:The washer (front loader) needed to be cleaned with deodorizer. The musty smell filled the whole apartment so we kept the door closed where it was located. The other issue was the water smelled very much like sulpher and tasted very salty. We might have thought this was an issue in Iceland but the two other apartment we stayed at during our visit did not have this problem. Also the location was central but there is a loud sports bar right across the street from reception which kept us up half the night.
Review 77:The apartment was spacious and very clean. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well appointed. The bathroom was also very nice. Parking was available close by too
Review 78:The central location comes with a price: noise on the weekends. But earplugs did the trick and was a small price to pay for such a great experience.
Review 79:The two bedroom apartment was perfect for us: plenty of space, comfortable, beautifully decorated and well appointed, and lots of light. They provided milk, orange juice, coffee and cereal with the room, and other items were available for a charge. Very helpful front office staff and great central location (we were able to walk to almost everything). Loved it so much we booked additional nights.
Review 80:Traveled as a family of four from NY. Had a nice stay in the residence suite. The location is perfect, walking distance to harbor, concert hall, church and many restaurants. Suite is nicely appointed with clean modern decoration. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will recommend to friends and family.
Review 81:Nothing bad at all
Review 82:A little gem of a hotel. Initially first impression was how small the room was but everything else far exceeded our wishes, breakfast basket was plentiful and lasted for snacks all day. Kitchenette had everything in it we needed to. Location great, staff friendly. We would definitely stay again, even in the same room. If room size is an issue, there are larger ones available.
Review 83:nothing really!
Review 84:The staff were really friendly and welcoming, happy to help with anything, and informative. The room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. It was helpful to have self catering facilities. The hotel is really central.
Review 85:Bar across the street can be noisy at night
Review 86:Excellent location in the center of everything. Large spacious beautiful apartment, generous breakfast basket, tasty fresh bread in the morning
Review 87:Best apartment we stayed in during our Iceland trip! Had 5 people total - appreciated that they set up the extra bed in the living room. The staff was also helpful with setting up our trip to Blue Lagoon and breakfast suggestions.
Review 88:Helped make our first visit to Iceland memorable and outstanding. Also had a great tour of the Golden Circle with Iceland Horizon and Dooley, out guide, and an excellent City Walk tour with guide Erik.
Review 89:Great location in the city centre. Comfortable and cozy rooms. Provides more of an "at home feel" versus a hotel yet very nicely and professionally done. Very well maintained small hotel.
Review 90:High-speed WLAN was very low speed. Can be a bit noisy from the main street.
Review 91:Perfect location, very nice appartment to stay and to feel at home although the house itself looks shabby from the outside.
Review 92:Beds are very hard and the cleaning during the week could have been a bit better.
Review 93:We had a great stay. The staff is very helpfull and the flat was nice. Great location and breakfast. All in all a good choice.
Review 94:There was no standing shower and it was never mentionned to us, so we had to take a bath, sitting with the telephone shower because the ceiling on top of the bath was very low.... When you're not used to that, it is very inconvenient. The TV is as small as a computer and pretty far from the bed.
Review 95:Free wi-fi and very clean, good location.
Review 96:Said we would have fresh bread delivered every morning. We never got anything on all 3 mornings. it got a little loud the last night with a band playing at the bar across the street
Review 97:Nearly everything. Large rooms. Easy access to everything in Reykjavic Good kitchen and bathroom. Provided a crib for our baby.
Review 98:Property was located on a busy street and was consequently subjected to noise from the street.
Review 99:Very clean, comfortable, attractive property. Staff very obliging and friendly.
Review 100:Room in basement. Only cold very hard boiled eggs, otherwise breakfast was OK. Furniture outdated. Carpet and seats of chairs not clean. Beds were not made every day.Overall not enough personal. Room to expensive for what we received. Wouldn't book there again
Review 101:People at the reception. Location of hotel.
Review 102:Nightclub opposite had heavy metal band playing thumping bass Friday and Saturday night and very noisy when closing at 04:30. Take earplugs if you're a light sleeper and not out partying yourself!
Review 103:Staff were brilliant; very helpful booking trips and transport to airport. Lovely, comfortable apartment with good facilities in great location for shopping, sight-seeing and dining out in Reykjavik.
Review 104:The bedroom is on the top floor, so we needed to carry our luggages up the stairs. There are windows right above my bed. It's June (Summer time), so the Sun sets at 11 p.m., and the sun rises at 3 a.m. -- so pretty much the room is bright all the time, and I have difficulty sleeping
Review 105:great location. great customer services. Very clean. Very comfy bed and blanket. Well equipped kitchen.
Review 106:Everything was great. Our apartment was in an excellent position close to the centre of Reykjavik (5 min walk), and we could park our hire car outside our door. We rented a 2 bedroom apartment and It was very large and everything was fantastic quality.
Review 107:The rooms were quiet, nicely furnished and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. After traveling all day the complimentary coffee, cereal, milk and Orange juice was nice to wake up to!
Review 108:Nothing!
Review 109:The management is fantastically tolerant! We asked for a late check out at 12noon but oversept n woke up at 11.55am. The staff was very understanding n allowed us a further extension to pack n get ready to leave for airport! Another fantastic gift was we were upgraded to a suite upon arrival!! We can't ask for more!! Thank you to the management!
Review 110:Lack of filter on the hot water which resulted in strong sulphur smell that left dry skin and wiry hair. Noisy street life all nights but excessively so on weekends. No gluten free option available for breakfast.
Review 111:Position, house atmosphere, staff helpfulness, delicious cold glacier water on tap. Fresh tasty bread for breakfast.
Review 112:This was the lap of luxury for us! Amazing beds, spacious, charming and spotless rooms, great location, helpful staff. Nice extra touches too - complimentary OJ, milk, and cereal waiting in the kitchen.
Review 113:Parking next to the hotel could be challenging but the hotel has access to a parking garage one block away.
Review 114:Clean comfortable rooms, personable and responsive staff, great location in Reykjavik, wonderful breakfast with enough to pack a picnic lunch each day. Room darkening shades were a welcome addition :-) Great place to stay.
Review 115:Just that there was no one at reception in the late evening and early morning. We had to check out the night before, and when we left in the early morning, there wasn't a keybox to leave the keys.
Review 116:We enjoyed the personal touch with fresh bread every morning at 7:30! The staff were very responsive, however there is no one at reception at night or early in the morning. All our booked restaurants and excursions were booked correctly even though I had requested many changes! It was a very smooth process staying here.
Review 117:Where do I begin. The rooms were bright, spacious, modern, very clean, the appliances were great and everything you could imagine you would need whilst away from home. Lovely touch was the nice hot drinks machine and the toiletries. Would highly recommend this place to all of my friends and colleagues
Review 118:Only a minor complaint: black-out curtains on all windows would be really helpful! If we come back, we are bringing eye masks.
Review 119:Cannot say enough great things about Reykjavik Residence Hotel! We stayed in a superior suite and loved the room. Perfect location to the major sights in Reykjavik.
Review 120:So generous with the breakfast basket that we could stretch it to lunch, which is great in expensive Reykjavik. And the staff was so friendly and helpful with everything. This was a perfect place to stay.
