Reviews for Einarsstadir Homestay

Review 1:The hosts were friendly, their pet was adorable, the house is cozy and all the furniture, facilities were nice! We had an amazing experience there and to complement the perfect night, we could see the northern lights! :)

Review 2:Excellent stay! This a fantastic guest house to stay at. We stayed for 4 nights and we were made to feel so welcome and at home. Vik is also a great place to base yourself and explore the surrounding areas and further afield at a slower pace. The guest house is tucked away down a quiet road at the foot of the sea cliffs, its lovely and quiet and very cosy. The room we had was ideal. A very comfortable double bed, nice and warm and a view of the cliffs that rise up behind. The hosts, they are fantastic! Such a lovely couple! They couldn't do enough for us, they really did make us feel very welcome and included! A wealth of knowledge for anything you might need to know and they also recommended to us some local walks and beauty spots that go unseen by a lot of people passing through. The breakfast is also fantastic, very filling, plenty on offer, fresh Icelandic bread and great coffee, just what you need before a day out in the elements! They even went out of they're way to provide us with a breakfast to take with us on a day we got up early before breakfast, those small gestures really do go a long way! And of course, Rjupa, what a beautiful dog! We thoroughly enjoyed staying here, its a very nice, traditional, friendly guest house. We can't rate it highly enough! We would certainly stay here again, no doubt about it! Highly recommended! Thank you :)

Review 3:Friendly hosts (and husky!), comfy room, clean shared bathroom. Vik is a great place to stay, very near to one Black Sand beach, and you can walk a path over the hill to the west of the town to get to another, with basalt columns.

Review 4:The owners have a dog and it's adorable! The whole house was cute and the room was welcoming. There were lots of books everywhere, including Watchmen :) There's a kitchen downstairs which everyone can use.

Review 5:The room was a little small but it was manageable.

Review 6:The hosts are wonderful. Very warm and welcoming. In a short span we became friends. The place is warm and cosy. Rupa the dog is a feather in the cap. A husky, she is as friendly as her masters. Had a great time here.

Review 7:We had an awesome evening with our hosts and their friend, cosy a bit crazy place located perfectly in the heart of small comunity of Vik,smells like an adventure with the spirit of the island! They gave us hints how to get off the beaten track, recomended place for local seefood and hidden hot springs and shared amazing stories of Icelandic reality over shots of vodka, snacking chilli from Thomas's garden.Guys you are so colourful team!all the best from Poland

Review 8:There is currently only one bathroom in the property which is currently being shared by upto & guests and the host, so the bathroom tended to get a little crowded in the mornings.

Review 9:The place was cozy and offered an authentic homestay experience. The husky Rupya was a delight to have around the house.

Review 10:The bathroom and facilities could be improved.

Review 11:Location and the fact that several groups of travelers could get acquainted with each other in a homey environment.

Review 12:thin walls, meaning less privacy than usual, more of a cool, friendly communal feeling.

Review 13:Beautifully furnished, warm home, everything and everyone was comforting. a special place that we won't forget!

Review 14:Even though it was a quite expensive stay for me, I stayed there really comfortably. They were so kind. I was waiting for my company there until the evening of the next day..The house n rooms were clean n comfy enough. A supermarket, information, n restaurant were nery by.

Review 15:This is a lovely place to stay in Vik. Rooms are clean and cozy. Filled with antiques and charming little touches. The owners are so friendly. During our stay we really enjoyed chatting with them about Iceland, culture, and politics.

Review 16:Host was very welcoming, friendly a helpful. House is very well situated with the mountain view, which was amazing (eventhough the weather wasn't very pleasent that day :-D) Also her dog is really awesome. Great place, if I ever show up in Vík again, definitely staying there! Thank you :-)

Review 17:We have no complaints at all!

Review 18:Einarrstadir Homestay is a super charming experience. The hosts were very kind and personable, and Frida makes the most amazing bread for breakfast. The house is absolutely adorable- I believe it is the oldest building in Vik, and it is very thoughtfully decorated (and the heated floors were much appreciated after coming in from a wet and windy drive). I stayed in a triple room with my husband and 16-year-old son and were very comfortable; I had a wonderful night's sleep, and when I woke early, the room is stocked with books to read. We met some really great fellow travelers (single travelers and friends traveling together) while enjoying our delicious breakfast, and really enjoyed the company of the hosts' very gentle dog. The house is very clean and is easy to find and parking was no problem at all for us. Vik itself is charming, and its beaches are not to be missed. We loved our stay here and highly recommend to anyone, especially if you are looking for a quaint and authentic experience.

Review 19:-The double bed with mountain view is amazingly comfortable! -Very friendly and helpful hosts -Cosy house in great location -The restaurant / cafe next door

Review 20:The house was cozy and very sweet. Old fashioned feel but very modern utilities. Very clean (shared bathroom but it feels like it's just yours). The hosts were warm, friendly and informative. This was my first experience at a homestay and it was lovely! And wifi, delightful, beloved wifi. Also the breakfast was delicious--homemade bread! Location can't be beat, right on the Ring Road. Best part, we got all of our wet clothes all nice and dry. It was like coming home.

Review 21:On arrival I was told immediately that quiet time starts at 10pm. This didn't happen in any other accomodation in Iceland and I felt I couldn't go out photographing later than that or early in the morning to catch the sunrise. I was always tiptoeing about extremely conscious then of the need to be quiet.

Review 22:You can see the puffins from the window of the single room. The guesthouse is actually in a perfect location, the best street in Vik to access the black sands, museum, pub, restaurants and supermarket. This was convienient because the weather was wet with gale winds.

Review 23:Frida is very nice and accommodating, so it is sad that I feel I have towrite this review for the sake of other travellers. The rooms are tinyand all situated one next to another, the one single bathroom is sharedwith up to 10 people at a time, the floors creak, walls are thin, andbeds are very uncomfortable. It feels like an overcrowded boardinghouse, which might be ok if it weren't for the price. Of our 11nights in Iceland, this was the only bad one, and it is truly appallingthat it is offered for this expensive price (we paid 150usd for a room-if it was my house I would not charge more than $50). Better to not stayin Vik and pay for a good value place to stay and just drive there tovisit the black sand beach. We had expected so much more for this price, instead we left feeling insulted and cheated. No other review I left forIceland received less than an 8.5.

Review 24:Having only one bathroom/toilet facility for all guests in the house is far too little.

Review 25:The homemade bread for breakfast was delicious! Very nice and friendly host with a beautiful dog.

Review 26:Thomas is an excellent host. It is fun to talk to him and he really took care of us. We had an issue with the car so we had to stay for a second night at Vik. He was extremely helpful finding us another guesthose since he had no reservation at all. The house is very comfortable, nice kitchen to cook a bit after a long day or having a coffee in the morning. Also the bedrooms and the bathroom are nice and clean

Review 27:Everyone sharing one bathroom, and apparently noise travels so we felt we had to be really quiet. Also felt like we were staying in their home which we didn't expect, but was nice in its own way.

Review 28:Nice people, nice room, clean, comfortable

Review 29:The only issue we had was with the bathroom door lock. They were planning on replacing it.

Review 30:This was a wonderful place to stay on our first night in Iceland. The rooms were very comfortable and homey. Thomas and Freda were great hosts and a lot of fun. We really enjoyed our conversations with them about Iceland. and politics. Be sure to ask Thomas about his recipe for mocha puffs.

Review 31:It was a little hard to find at first because it's tucked away behind another building - a little sign somewhere could help. The mattress was a little soft for my taste. Sharing a bathroom wasn't the most fun... But luckily we didn't encounter any timing problems.

Review 32:The house was lovely inside. The hostess was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and a great place to spend the night. It's located right next to a great restaurant. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Review 33:At the moment there is only one bathroom (although they are building a new one) which makes it a bit challenging in the morning when all the guests want to take an early shower to continue their trip.

Review 34:The staff is really nice, they even invited us to join them for dinner (a really yummy fish soup :-) which turned into a very fun night full of humour. They will make you feel at home!

Review 35:I absolutely loved the comfort and warmth that I felt the entire time, it felt like coming home! The house is adorable and the decoration of the house is perfect for the beachy, vintage feel of the town and the location. Our hosts couldn't be more accommodating and they truly made the experience the best it could be. I especially loved our breakfast as well as just the laid back, comfortable atmosphere that you don't usually find in most guest houses!
