Reviews for Villa Ducale Hotel & Ristorante

Review 1:restaurant was closed in the evening due to a company occasion. had to find somewhere else to eat dinner

Review 2:very nice villa with prestige feeling. great for day trips in Venice.staff very kind and helpful. breakfast was good. we traveled with 2 kids with Celiac and the hotel took very good care of of them with a nice variety of gluten free products for breakfast

Review 3:We love exploring the Brenta Riviera and the old historic villas in the area before heading into Venice. The river road that runs from Stra to Mira is a dream. The Ducale hotel is also a dream and perfectly located for this exploring. Staff - superb.

Review 4:Breakfast buffet doesn't cater too well for international travelers, shocking coffee.

Review 5:Charming old hotel with a flair the chain hotels simply don't have, nice spacious rooms.

Review 6:Hotel is a beautiful old villa but in need of TLC. Close to road so there is a bit of traffic noise.

Review 7:The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Ariana. Very easy bus ride from just opposite the hotel into Venice.

Review 8:We were in room 25 and there was no normal WiFi connection there - the signal was too weak to see even the hotel network. Actually we couldn't use our laptop in the room and had to go downstairs to get the Internet connection.

Review 9:We stayed in a superior double with garden view - a large, airy room with high ceiling and a large bathroom. The staff were nice and attentive (special praise to Ms. Ariana). A very spacious parking lot at the premises.

Review 10:With an small investment the villa could be a 5* hotel, however itspresent state has a charme. I could forget about the fake flowerdecorations, fresh flowers could work much better, especially, if we areon the country side. The wi-fi service is a huge disadvantage, onlyworks at the breakfast area and the hall. (Mind you when I eat, I do notwant to surf and late at night, when I have work to do, I do not want tosit at the entry). I must say, that they changed my room to have abetter wi-fi reception, which was occassionaly working, but they mustsolve this problem. The main disappointment was the breakfast althoughthere was a huge table packed with food (plastic food, pre-packed drybiscuits, no fresh bread or pastry, cold omelet and weird lookingsausages, but no healthy breakfast, country yoghurt, fresh fruits etc... weird !). The staff was very kind again and made me excellentItalian coffee, so we could start the day with a smile.

Review 11:A gorgeous villa with a beautiful park, a short drive from Venice or20min by bus. The villa's history and old charme is in every room,(which they clean every day), the stuff is ultra kind even if noteverybody speaks English. I was lost at the train station (a good 10minute drive in the middle of nowhere) and someone jumped into a carimmediately and came to fetch me without asking. Whenever I had aspecial request, it was dealt with immediately. You could have a verypleasant stay, when you are visiting Venice.

Review 12:The house and gardens, virtually unchanged since it was a private villa. The interior is beautifully restored, with trompe l'oeil paintwork in the bedrooms and Venetian chandeliers, and the staff are really helpful, informative and friendly. The restaurant has excellent food.

Review 13:We are a family of 4 with two children aged 6 & 10 who just love being outside and love gardens. We have a lovely spacious garden at home & have been travelling through Europe for 5 weeks living in apartments that have great locations so that we can reach all of our sights by foot so they do not have gardens. When I saw Villa Ducale, I loved the beautiful grand building, saw that it had a lovely garden for our whole family to explore. It was very beautiful and we all loved enjoyed the sunshine in the lovely garden with the beautiful hotel in the back ground. The hotel itself is beautiful with a beautiful foyer and our quadruple room was also very lovely. It also had a beautiful view of the garden. The service from the staff was sincerely amazing. All the three individual staff members were just so obliging to help us enjoy our stay. The first staff member could not help us enough to plan our activities. The next staff member in the evening who served us up a beautiful dinner provided us with superior service. Lastly, we had to check out at 4.15am to catch our plane and the last lady put on a complete buffet breakfast that looked just amazing especially for us. They did tell us that they would help us out with breakfast, but given the time of our departure I was only expecting something very simple, but they totally suprised us all pleasantly when we walked into the restaurant and discovered this magnificent spread of food made especially for us. Thank you Villa Ducale for a very lovely and memorable stay.

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:The grounds were spectacular The Villa Ducale was memorable Lara at the front desk was one of the most efficient, friendly, helpful Staff we have ever encountered. We loved every minute of our stay. The hotel was also very convenient to drive, catch the ferry or the bus to Venice. Dolo was also worth exploring to see the villas that were once summer homes.

Review 16:The door of our bathroom was impossible to close. Our room wasn't very clean and they didn't change our blanket, that was dirty.

Review 17:Close to Venice and Padova. The hotel has spacious rooms and it's easy to reach by car. There is a wide selection of meals for breakfast.

Review 18:The location was not quite as good as we had hoped - the local village and any restaurants were not really within walking distance and eating in was very expensive.

Review 19:The villa was really lovely and all the lounges, dinign room, reception areas were beautiful. Our room was very nice although a little on the narrow side. Breakfast was an extensive buffet and the staff were very polite. It was easy to get to both Venice and Padua by bus from right outside the door.

Review 20:Laura was welcoming and helpful from first moment. Setting of delightful old villa in glorious garden was a pleasure. Food and service delightful. Altogether a warm and friendly experience, in an old world environment.

Review 21:- too close to the main road - the restaurant a little bit too expensive

Review 22:- nice old fashioned building remembering the Venice old times - nice garden - friendly staff providing useful information about the area - close to Padova and Venice - good breakfast even for non-italians

Review 23:Genuine Venetian grand villa. Ceilings as high as the sky. Decor fantastic, intimate atmosphere, stunning gardens. If you want to have a memorable experience this place is it. Really interesting surrounding area as well. Not five stars but doesn't detract from it at all, even adds to the atmosphere.

Review 24:we had problems with the reservation. Staff found a solution, but we do not like the problems. A reservation is a reservation in Belgium. In Italy is a reservation not always a reservation, even when it is comfirmed.

Review 25:Villa Ducale Hotel is an old Villa with a lovely garden and beautiful grandeur. You like it, or not. The comfort is ok, bathroom with warm water, bedroom with fresh sheets, dinner in the restaurant tasteful. Service is good; breakfast ok. The Villa is decorated in Italian style. For a few nights we had the feeling of being a VIP.

Review 26:location

Review 27:No internet in the room

Review 28:Our room was amazing Clean, large, AC, balcony Bathroom had everything you need with a big shower

Review 29:One of the best

Review 30:Great location right next to the bus stop. Easy travel to either Venice or Padua.

Review 31:The friendly staff and the beautiful villa and grounds. Ariana was especially friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, too.

Review 32:the villa and the restaurant are very good-good combination of both and a visit of venice.

Review 33:Very remote. Not much to do around there.

Review 34:Unique old villa with history.

Review 35:nice old-styled hotel with all its manners

Review 36:The bathroom, the family room, the mosquitos

Review 37:The gardens, the restaurant staff

Review 38:Very nice building and garden!I recommend this hotel for people who like to stay in peace and quiet!enjoy this romantic place!

Review 39:Didn't find anything to dislike in our one night stay.

Review 40:Slightly faded glory but I loved the character of the place and it was a refreshing change from standard modern hotels which all have the same bland formula.

Review 41:Greeted in a friendly manner - restaurant was delicious - breakfast was great - helpful staff - room was lovely - comfortable bed - wish we could stay longer!

Review 42:The coffee was really not good. Guests visiting Italy expect Italian coffee. The bread was old. The breakfast could be improved.

Review 43:Great place to stay if you plan to visit Venice and you travel by car. The Villa is pretty romantic.

Review 44:smell in hallway from fake flowers. we asked to have removed....didn't happen. breakfast was interesting with cold boiled potatoes and cold fried eggs but the rest of the spread was extensive. the beds were the worst we encountered on the 6 week trip. like camping and sleeping on a sleeping bag on the ground. Bring sleeping pills or pain pills to get you through the night because those beds are hard as rock. Run down appearance of the villa. there is a big difference between an 18th century villa and a well maintained 18th century villa. my hope is that the owners will invest the time, money and effort to bring this up to a well maintained hotel as it certainly has all the potential to be a great place to stay. all in all I would give it a 6 - 6.5

Review 45:This once great Italian Villa could be great again if only....... The place needs an update to the paint and comfort levels of most travelers. I get it that it is an 18th century villa and should not have the sheen of a 21 century Hilton but with a little effort it could be a really nice place to stay. The Venetian glass chandeliers in the rooms and bathrooms are lovely but the beds are as hard as sleeping on the floor. A little touch up paint around doors and window trim and repairing the chipped and cracked fountain statues would go a long way to making this a desirable destination. We stayed here two nights and wondered if we had done the right thing but by the second night we embraced the aging accommodations and just enjoyed the stay. The staff is most helpful. They suggested the best way to get to Venice from the hotel but be advised there is still a language barrier with most of the staff if you are English speaking with no Italian vocabulary. The gardens are lovely and the grounds nice. Located on the main road between Dolo and the road to Venice it can be a little noisy but did not disturb sleep.

Review 46:The bathroom and facilities weren't the most modern, could use a facelift. But the positive charm far outweighs any shortcomings.

Review 47:Wonderful charm and character, very nice classic villa with surrounding gardens.

Review 48:It is quite far from Venice and the road is very busy and noisy.

Review 49:The gardens and the breakfast. The room was also quite lovely with frescoed ceiling and comfortable bed.

Review 50:Distance from both airport and cruise port. Spent 150 Euros fortransport r/T.

Review 51:Don't call it a castle. More like a palace from the days when Venicebathed in money. The Manager is friendly and informative beyondimagination.

Review 52:just a little bit too far from Venice, if you're aim is to go to Venice for several days (40 minutes by bus and then a (nice!) vaporetto boat trip, and the same back at night...

Review 53:beautiful building and park-garden. good reception. Great surrounding villa's (but take care of the traffic) nice room. little bit 'old style' luxuary hotel, missed the train of modernization, but, that is certainly part of it's charm. The busstop to Venice is at the other side of the street, and there' s a bus every 10-15 minutes.

Review 54:The rooms are small

Review 55:The hotel is very nice as the big garden of the hotel. The stafffriendly. The restaurant is very good.A Very good place to stay for avisit in Venice. We booked 3 days and left after 5.

Review 56:statues needed cleaning and wifi was not strong you needed to be only in the lobby to get a signal

Review 57:peacefull and quite grounds where well maitain and hotel was near main road

Review 58:Wifi was poor, continuously logging in No airco in breakfast room A bit old

Review 59:Friendly personnel Large room Nice garden, where you can have dinner Dinner was good Good place to stay if you want to visit Venice

Review 60:Old villa converted into restaurant/event venue with rooms - so lovely big rooms, high ceilings etc Very convenient for both Venice & Padua - but peaceful

Review 61:Nothing really, we stayed in a family suite, and the shower was somewhatsmall and old but this did not affect our overall enjoyment of our stay.

Review 62:As many of the reviewers have pointed out the staff isexcellent.Lovely, charming, friendly people who go out of their way towelcome you and provide information. The lovely young woman at the deskeven took my unstamped postcards and posted them for me, and I coveredthe postage the next day. We were at Villa Ducale for three rainy daysand nights in March, but the warmth of the hospitality of the staff helpto boost our spirits. We did not find driving and parking in Venice aproblem and we chose to go to Verona the next day on recommendation ofthe same young woman. Very happy we did, I loved Verona, My husband andI definitely hope to return to both Venice and Verona. The photos areaccurate, this is a charming lovely old hotel. Its interiors are inkeeping with the age of the hotel and are charming as well, plenty offaux painting and Murano glass chandeliers. The breakfast buffet waspresented beautifully and had plenty of variety. The breakfast room iselegant and cheerful, it is also used as the restaurant, which is alittle bright at night, but that did not take away from the enjoyment ofthe meal. My husband, who did not want to eat there, ended up enjoyinghis meal more than any other on our European tour. There is an Old Worldcomfort to this hotel, and the luxury is about comfort and hospitality, not elitism as in many luxury hotels. Very enjoyable stay.

Review 63:Excellent facilities and strong location. I really enjoyed the place.

Review 64:Design, Park, Cleaning, everything perfect

Review 65:far away from Venice, 40 minutes by bus

Review 66:a beautiful villa in a very nice location. the stuff was nice
