Reviews for Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel & Spa Resort
Review 1:No bad experiences at all. One suggestion - table service (instead ofgoing to bar) would have been good at Christmas Eve buffet
Review 2:Easy quick check-in Comfortable and very clean room Quiet room at backdespite Christmas period Extra provisions left over Christmas Day foruse by guests
Review 3:The hygiene of the resort. Room smelled of urine, had to ask for my dinner table in the restaurant to be cleaned.pool was dirty, rooms were very dingy for the amount it cost.
Review 4:The food was nice
Review 5:The noise of having the driveway under our room. The bed was rock hard and couldnt sleep woke up in pain from our backs to some point we could hardly walk
Review 6:Staff was awesome and understanding gave us a refund cause we left early from our honeymoon. Food was great at the bistro.
Review 7:The room could have been cleaner - there was a large wet patch on the carpet in the middle of the room that smelled odd; there were streaks of something nasty on the glass doors. The water temperature in the shower fluctuated between extremes of burning hot and freezing all on its own. The fridge was a bit on the small side and ours was frosted up.
Review 8:Location is great, right on the beach, and good for meeting up with friends/family in the bar and bistro. Staff are friendly. Parking is easy. Rooms are of the standard expected.
Review 9:It was a little noisy as our stay coincided with pre schoolies week.
Review 10:The location & view was fabulous. You couldn't fault the accommodation it was first class.
Review 11:Dinner was disappointing on both nights. The dining set up was boring and lacking ant attempt at making the most of the view. Despite the near perfect location the atmosphere was like a backwater country pub.
Review 12:Location was brilliant. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 13:Initially, since we booked with booking.com, we arrived at the Island at 6pm where the reception office was already closed at 3pm, the after hours staff had no idea we even booked and denied us a room. We called every hotel on the island, everyone was also closed. We were travelling with a 19 month old and really were desperate to stay anywhere at this point. After speaking to extremely rude after hours staff member we came back to reception to try again with booking.com agent on the phone in case they wanted to talk to them. Second time around we spoke to General Manager Michael who was extremely understanding and gave us the benefit of the doubt with the booking and gave us a room for the night until we cleared up the mix up in the morning. That 1.5 hours in the car was distressing especially with child in the car and no food, no room and no other options. This was rectified in the morning and free night and free breakfast was given by Ashley and Michael as compensation for the mix up. Manager and staff also apologised repeatedly for the mix-up and ensured the rest of our stay was amazing.
Review 14:The staff was very accommodating and went that extra step to ensure customer satisfaction. Breakfast prices are the best around, $10 for a big breakfast, bread was a bit hard the second day but edible, since scrambled eggs were fantastic! Compliments to the chef. The breakfast view is gorgeous with lots of sitting available in the restaurant at the Bistro. Hotel rooms were clean and services well while we were there. Lots of milk for coffee.
Review 15:The food menu was poor. The pizza was very unappealing. A frozen base I think. Only ate in restaurant once, didn't go back. Was a little disappointed with the sign above the BBQ that said 'If you use this BBQ you will be charged $25 for cleaning' I felt this was rather a negative way to start your holiday off. Also was disappointed at cost of Wifi.
Review 16:Apartment was clean and comfortable.
Review 17:Needs maintenance in a lot of areas, gates, hall way walls and blinds. Down stairs car park is hot and stinky. The pool is like a warm bath on a hot day (a little too hot).
Review 18:Nice Hotel with best Stradbroke location.
Review 19:Thought I'd booked a twin room but it was a queen so one of us roughed it on the sofa bed. Oh, it's pretty ridiculously expensive during peak season.
Review 20:The view of the ocean from the restaurant never gets old. And the beach is only 5 minutes away.
Review 21:I didn't like the fridge in the room. That there was no waiter service at the restaurant and they ran out of the seafood platter. Air conditioning wasn't working when we arrived and we weren't notified when it was fixed. The pool is quite a distance away from the rooms and no spar.
Review 22:I like the location.
Review 23:This hotel could be so much better than it is. They owner has an excellent management team. They should be given greater opportunities to enable them to develop the hotel to reach Its-potential. The restrictive times for dining seem bizarre. No access to sandwiches or snacks outside opening times.Dining room shut just after 8 30 pm!
Review 24:The manager responded very promptly to some problems with the room and moved us. The views to the ocean are stunning.
Review 25:Quite loud as near the pub. Carpets were filthy and needed a clean or to be replaced. The bistro line was over an hour every night & menu limited.
Review 26:Great location, right on the beach. Nice and big, lovely kitchen and bathrooms.
Review 27:Nothing.
Review 28:View from our balcony over the sea where dolphins swam regularly. Access to beautiful beach that had life savers patrolling for swimming. Access to bar and restaurant. Luxurious apartment with secure, undercover parking. We could walk to other beachers and scenic cliff top walks easily from the hotel.
Review 29:Thin walls, got woken up by people talking/singing in front of our door at 7am, and heard a lot of noise (at 10pm) from the laundry room across the hall. The laundry room had a door but it was wedged open, even though it had a sign on it saying not to leave the door open for fire safety reasons. There was only 1 gluten free dessert, but this hadn't been prepped in the morning so it wasn't available.
Review 30:We had an ocean view room, which was nice. It was convenient to have a bar and restaurant at the hotel and the bartenders were nice. Also, undercover parking and the bottle shop were good facilities to have.
Review 31:We would have liked the restaurant to open earlier in the morning. Also for the office to be open later at the end of the day in order to settle the account.
Review 32:Room faced away from the beach, over the driveway, (I should have asked)when the door was open we could smell car exhausts, but we found outwhat we would have asked for would have been too pricey. Also we werefed a line about our adjusting the a/c to suit us caused it to shutdown because we chose a different setting to "everyone else"???? and it shut our a/c down (sounds a bit dumb to me). We arecoming back to Straddie in June, staying elsewhere but we will visit.
Review 33:Great views from the dining area and bar and the breakfast was great.
Review 34:Our room was spacious, clean and impeccable. The views absolutely breathtaking & could watch the whales & dolphins play all day in front of us. Staff were brilliant & always helpful. Food was delicious with minimal wait. Fantastic getaway & highly recommend staying here.
Review 35:I asked about a sea view. I didn't expect to be in full view of the driveway into the resort. It was very disappointing. I would have paid extra for a sea view. No point going to the Island when you can't see the water.
Review 36:The room was clean, bed comfortable.
Review 37:Air conditioning not working
Review 38:quality of room
Review 39:location
Review 40:Staff were excellent
Review 41:Bistro menu is childish and we had a very over cooked fish from the daily selection
Review 42:Location
Review 43:Food very average
Review 44:Noise from other units, especially the doors slamming and people using stairs noisely.
Review 45:The location and view are spectacular
Review 46:The friendly, helpful staff which made the visit even more pleasant.
Review 47:Air conditioning didn't work, blinds broken and so very hour from afternoon sun. TV reception malfunctioned.

Review 50:bed table light not working

Review 56:Brilliant location. We requested a quiet room and they moved us before checking in. Can't fault their service.
Review 57:Excellent ocean views
Review 58:I had an early start for work I.e.7am but breakfast wasn't until 7.30.

Review 60:Coming home
Review 61:Best views great unit loved it. Ta we got married that weekend family in another unit. Great place lovely.
Review 62:Terrible buffet breakfast
Review 63:Convenient location. Clean room and facilities.
Review 64:Food
Review 65:Location and atmosphere
Review 66:Mattress very soft. Food average: plain meals can still be of excellent quality.
Review 67:Proximity to beach and flagged area. Speed in serving meals.
Review 68:The front courtyard is uncovered so in the rain it gets very wet and slippery.
Review 69:Fantastic location. Nice rooms. We had a great time! I'd stay here again.
Review 70:3 bed apartment was amazing, great fit out and fantastic location, couldn't ask for more. Loved having the bottle shop onsite - very handy! We will be back.
Review 71:Staff was not too knowledgeable about the area - didn't know how farthe beach trail went, which, is a major attraction of the area.Restaurant on the premises was really not very good and not worth themoney - the cafe up the street had better food and coffee.
Review 72:Very clean and comfortable. Good location, although ~ 1km from localshops. Spa was excellent.
Review 73:I booked a ocean facing room and requested a spa-bath specifically. They were very devious in their answer saying that all the spa bathroom were occupied but I would get a "standard one". When wearrived we were out into a small room with only a shower and the roomoverlooked the parking lot. The problem is that below is a bottle store& every car that comes to the bottle store drives directly towardour balcony with full view into our room...zero privacy. Over priced& below standard.
Review 74:Excellent location and facilities
Review 75:meals were a bit ordinary
