Reviews for Hotel Edda Vík

Review 1:Shower was small and had a shower curtain.

Review 2:The hotel was located within a walks distance to the shops and black sand beach. The room was clean and comfortable and had tea/coffee making facilities. We liked the separate communal dining and lounge area but found the lighting too dim.

Review 3:Only one mirror which was located in the bathroom so you couldn't see if someone was in the bathroom! Not ideal for two girls sharing a room. Both Dove soap dispensers were empty. No English tea available and paper cups! Only two paper cups so not ideal for reusing.

Review 4:The restaurant was excellent. The meal was delicious and the waiting staff were brilliant and attentive.

Review 5:Quite expensive. Room basic for the price paid compared to rooms we stayed in elsewhere. Service in the restaurant was a bit slow at times.

Review 6:Great location right in the centre. Edda Vik benefits from all the facilities in the Icelandair (more pricey) hotel. Food in restaurant was delicious.

Review 7:The hotel is very nice, I recommend the breakfast. The location in Vik is amazing, it is such a beautiful town. The hotel is backed by mountains, waterfalls and fields of sheep.

Review 8:Huge hotel, we were the furthest from the desk, and it wasn't full.

Review 9:We loved the location. Walked to dinner the night we stayed, and woke up to a fabulous breakfast.

Review 10:Paid for a room and given a cottage (despite paying extra for the room). Booking.com blamed hotel, hotel blamed booking.com - either way I got shafted, don't bother booking this

Review 11:Nice room, nice breakfast. Weird setup, basically 3 hotels in one, all using the same breakfast and reception.

Review 12:After being ignored then checked in late we were told we'd booked a cottage (we hadn't) but we went with it anyway (it was only one night) the walls are a tiny bit thinner than paper (the phone calls to the people in the next room at 1am were a great idea by the reception staff) and the bathroom could easily be confused with your average wardrobe (except wardrobes aren't often soaked from the lack of a shower tray and poor drainage) in short, stay at the adjoining Icelandair hotel or don't bother.

Review 13:The location was handy and the breakfast was nice.

Review 14:Bathroom was small.

Review 15:The breakfast was great! In addition to the standard cold items (sliced meat, cheese, tomatoes, etc), they had a waffle iron and a couple hot items (eggs/beans). Beds were really comfortable, and we could see the Reynisdranger from our room in the distance.

Review 16:Super helpful staff - particularly a male receptionist who went out of his way to advice us (2 worried female travelers) on our rental car which was signaling a fault. We were grateful. Black sand beach just across the road!!!

Review 17:Very neat and clean hotel; excellent and smiling staff; rooms are simple but cosy and quite comfortable. Within hotel premises is the most amazing restaurant - had a brilliant meal!!

Review 18:Room very poor sound insulation between rooms. We could clearly hear the people talking in the room next to us. Shower had a central drain in the middle of the bathroom. Was very expensive for the location and accommodation. Breakfast was fine - is a tour group hotel so a large group was in breakast.

Review 19:Nice staff

Review 20:The cabin is small No wifi in the cabin

Review 21:Good location and good hotel staffs Room is clean but small. The breakfast was good as eating in Hotel Icelandair Vik.

Review 22:very accommodating! We didn't sign up for the breakfast because we were leaving at 5am the next day, but the girl at the front desk was nice enough to send us off with fruit for the road anyway.

Review 23:We were in a cottage which is split into 2 separate rooms. The walls are very thin so you hear lots of noise from the next room.

Review 24:Good location, friendly staff. Nice restaurant although quite expensive.

Review 25:The hot water is very limited. We have three people check in. Only the first people have proper showering experience with hot water with normal usage. The second one had super cold water for showering. The extra bed is also pretty small. Really hard to move. No Wifi available at the room we had.

Review 26:We arrived on very wet day. Access to reception from car park is poor (30-50 meters) so got wet checking in and getting luggage inside. Hotel information was incorrect - says that dining room is only open for breakfast and you have to go out for dinner. However restaurant was open and served excellent food. Also said breakfast was served from 7.30, yet dining room was already half full when we arrived at 7.30.

Review 27:Food was very good, both for dinner and breakfast. Room was comfortable and clean if a little small.

Review 28:The old, damp, wooden sheds were made to stay in, in the grounds - paid almost £300 fot twi "interconnecting" family rooms, which was effectively one old hut. We were so upset and were old by staff that we should blame booking.com, not them!

Review 29:The Icelandair hotel which it is attached to.

Review 30:We went in the summer busy season and this hotel ended up being the priciest place we stayed. For about 1/3 the price, we stayed in guesthouses and apartments with similar accommodations.

Review 31:This is a great hotel along the Ring Road within walking distance from the iconic black sand beach with incredible rock formations.

Review 32:they said room will be economic twin room when I book the hotel, but it was very small cabin. they said economic room means cabib accordint to their policy when I check in. WIFI is not working at cabin even though booking reference say WIFI is available at whole area. I am quite disappointed at this hotel. the price of hotel is the most expensive one in my entire schedule but quality is the last one.

Review 33:breakfast is ok

Review 34:We arrived in a horrible storm and the Hotel Edda Vik was a perfect refuge. Our "summer cottage" was comfortable and quiet and warm. The dinner at the hotel was fantastic, which was good because all the restaurants were closed by the time we arrived. Friendly staff, too!

Review 35:Twin room a bit small. A tat on the expensive side, but the again , Iceland hotels are not cheap.

Review 36:Good location and good hub to explore the region.Exactly what you need when travelling by car. No overwhellming luxury , but clean and all you need.

Review 37:The hotel lobby and staff are more sophisticated than the only-ok rooms. Mid-range services with budget rooms, at mid-range prices.

Review 38:I was glad I got a room at all, booking so late in the high tourist season.

Review 39:This hotel was terrible. It was our most expensive in Iceland and was our worst hotel. The walls are paper thin, the facilities non-existent, and the staff are super unhelpful. We stayed here because it was the only place available in VIk. If we had to book again we'd completely skip Vik. If this is the only place available, please avoid. It will be better to stay at a farm on the ring road.

Review 40:Virtually everything: This was not what I had expected. Having stayed at Foss hotels throughout Iceland I was appalled by the facilities, service, lack of comfort and above all price: 190€ is a rip-off! I asked reception if I could be changed to another room and was told there were none. Was also asked for credit card to secure room, although I had paid before.

Review 41:Seeing the campers in front of our 'cabin' (which incidentally is half a cabin as they are divided in two... hence you can hear every movement of your neighbours )-through windows that had not been cleaned since Nod, and imagining they probably had a worse sleep than I did! The location is great, shame about everything else...

Review 42:It was too expensive for how cheap and old the room looked. The fuentire was old and outdated, rhe coffee maker was dirty and had grime around the top, and the bathroom had a musty smell.

Review 43:Absolutely lovely staff! They were incredibly helpful and friendly!

Review 44:Looks straight out to the ocean - wonderful! We stayed in one of the 'cottages', there were 4 of us so we used both rooms, but I don't think I would have liked to have shared it. Comfy bed and great bathroom. Lovely breakfast buffet in the rather nice hotel next door.

Review 45:The room tends to get too humid because the bathroom is not well ventilated.

Review 46:Location. It shares the breakfast facilities with the 'fancier' sister property. Breakfast is very good.

Review 47:I thought it was a little over priced. we were in one of the cabins which I thought looked cute but were actually a little small and tired inside. The wifi was only available in the reception and diner which wasn't very convenient.

Review 48:The location was good

Review 49:No refrigerator in the room.

Review 50:Decent and functional to see Vik and the surroundings. We had a problem with the sewage in our room but the staff changed us rooms immidiately.

Review 51:For one night it was great! Good location, friendly staff Breakfast was ok, not that many options, but still better than most we had in Iceland Close to Vik, where there are dinning options

Review 52:WiFi was not the best and required a login. Vik is very small and there was only one option for food later in the evening (around 8p)

Review 53:The room and bathroom were very nice. I liked that the curtains closed all the way to the wall for a nice dark room.

Review 54:The location was great. Across the street from the icewear factory, gas station, grill, and beach. We stayed in vik for 2 nights and the hotel Edda was perfect for us. It's attached to the really nice iceland air hotel and you can go to the bar there. Staff were all very friendly.

Review 55:Only slight blip was when we moved the bed, there were tissues and cereal underneath...

Review 56:The hotel looks out onto the ocean and is very close to Vik attractions. Also has gas station and cafe across the street and is connected to the Icelandair Hotel which has a great hot chocolate at the bar!

Review 57:Had a problem with the wifi. Breakfast did not provide good value. Meals were expensive.

Review 58:Very helpful front room staff. Excellent location. Non-breakfast meals were outstanding.

Review 59:Nothing bad but I missed breakfast on the first morning as it stops at 9.00 am (Not good for photographers who are out very early & like to have breakfast after they've caught the sunrise) mind you I needed to lose weight!

Review 60:Stunning modern airy building - great ambience right next to the scenic beaches. Comfortable, clean accomodation

Review 61:Seems the heater couldn't quite compete with the harsh wind. Always felt cold in the room. Small bathroom, wet and dry area not seperated. AND the floor never get dry ! I mean the water I splashed from showering at night still stayed persistently on the floor in the morning which was weird. Booked the Edda Vik, but have to checked in at the Icelandair Hotel reception, which is in another building. Luckily the buildings connect, but still confusing.

Review 62:Great location. Can see the beautiful Reynisdrangar from our room window. Just cross the road and the N1 is there, with convenient store and souvenirs shop. Keep walking on for 2 minutes and you find the beautiful black beach.

Review 63:Internet speed could be better

Review 64:The service was great from Check in -staying-check out. We were stuck on the snow strom on the checkout day. Hotel (Icelandair and Edda) organized us and other guests those who were stuck with us a complimentary lunch. This is what I called superior in hospitality.

Review 65:Desolate off peak season Poor value for money Basic room Dated decor Strange smell in first room we were given

Review 66:Staff good and friendly Breakfast at next door iceland air hotel good View of basalt towers from window

Review 67:Room was very humid and smelled slightly mildewed. When we awoke the next morning there were puddles on the window sill. Walls were thin and we could hear the next door occupant snoring.

Review 68:The staff was very pleasant. It's incredibly easy to find, just off the ring road in Vik. Easy walking distance to the sights nearby.

Review 69:No wifi, it's the only place that no wifi during our circle trip of Iceland.

Review 70:Breakfast is good, we love the salmon, near to the vik wool, you could go shopping by walk, it's opened to 24:00

Review 71:Price is maybe too high. But facility looks like it can have that price. Even though I took a deal over booking, and didn't have a breakfast, maybe hotel can put breakfast in that price.

Review 72:Location is great, easy to find.

Review 73:Internet only in main building, and the free access is very limited. Paid for premium access but it only worked on my mobile phone (says up to 8 devices but this did not work for us).

Review 74:We were in cabins, rather small but adequate. Sea birds were nesting in the cliffs immediately behind the cabins which was interesting. Good views of the sea and nearby cliffs, some great short walks along the beach. Little veranda was great for sitting outside and taking in the view.

Review 75:restaurant was very much canteen, but can be devided into sections with curtains. Unfortunately possibility is not used by the staff

Review 76:New building, with new and spacy rooms. Good bath facilities, food quality, lobby

Review 77:We stayed in the brand new side, great location in the town of Vik, right across the street from black beaches, trendy bar, restaurants in walking distance, decent breakfast. One of the nicest hotels we stayed in on the trip.

Review 78:zero

Review 79:edda vik and icelandair hotel seem to be the same hotel, so we made reservations for one and stayed at the other. Looked like na upgrade. Delicious breakfast, nice location, spatious beautifully decorated rooms, everything fine

Review 80:The cost was unbelievably high for what we got--a clean room with a tiny, functional bathroom. At maybe 2/3 the cost (even considering this is Iceland) where things are more expensive, it would have seemed like an expensive place, but maybe fine for the price since it is Vik in high season. But what we paid (over 300 ISK/night, not including breakfast), just seemed like a ripoff for what we got. The room was quite small the view was of a trashcan and gravel parking area. At least include breakfast as a gesture at that rate.

Review 81:The location was excellent, right in Vik, easy to find. The breakfast (1.750 ISK extra) was very tasty.

Review 82:Breakfast was adequate but very little healthy fresh fruit or nuts. Bedroom furniture was sparse (log bedside tables were tiny). View at back of hotel was a mess of pallets and building materials. Lighting inadequate to read.

Review 83:New hotel, bar was gorgeous

Review 84:Not enough hanging area/hooks for clothes. Really need some kind of ridge on floor to stop shower water from going everywhere in shower (ps hotel rooms look more claustrophobic, and street facing ones with fabulous view, lack privacy)

Review 85:Nnb this refers only to the cabins not the hotel rooms...spacious enough room with private shower and toilet. Fabulous views. Patio for sitting outside (a bench/chairs would be nice here)

Review 86:The website pictures are misleading. The Hotel Edda Vik is a small, single story building. The larger, fancier building belongs to the Icelandic Hotel.

Review 87:The location just off the main road was quiet and easy to find.

Review 88:Excellent location. Really helpful staff. Grand piano and crows in the hotel lobby! Great variety and range for breakfast.

Review 89:Cozy room with TV and electric kettle, hot water (no smell of brimstone!!), pleasant staff, nice view and location, everything was great.

Review 90:Lovely rooms and an amazing area/location.

Review 91:The sink. The motel feel.

Review 92:Good location for exploring nature's wonders in Vik and beyond. Helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Review 93:Slow check-in Basic rooms very small bathroom

Review 94:Good location

Review 95:a little bit old, but comfortable and cozy

Review 96:The location, the hotel is attached to brand new icelandair hotel, and uses all its amazing facilities.

Review 97:Breakfast wasn't included in the price.

Review 98:Facilities were solid. Bed was comfortable.

Review 99:Simple but wonderful ! Perfect

Review 100:Clean and comfortable enough room (in main building), although a little stark.

Review 101:No internet

Review 102:Good breafast

Review 103:Staff was rude, breakfast - ugly.

Review 104:NOTHING

Review 105:The breakfast was average.

Review 106:The bungalows are small, but good for those on a budget.

Review 107:No top sheet. American tradition. Rooms are bland. Asked not to eat at your restaurant. Dont know why. Guess my usa moneys no good.

Review 108:Check in and restaurant shared with Icelandair Hotel - decent food. Good sized room, clean with good bathroom.

Review 109:Good breakfast and great dinner (not cheap, but great)

Review 110:Shower and wash basin did not drain. Entire floor was wet.

Review 111:Convenience to the beach

Review 112:Did not like the cottages. They were cold, and you could hear all noices, wind etc.

Review 113:Nothing bad to say.

Review 114:Everything :)

Review 115:Great staff, good breakfast!

Review 116:so small room.

Review 117:good view and location.

Review 118:Bed and box

Review 119:Well located

Review 120:Everything was perfect, the room, the dinning room, the breakfast, the bed, the staff. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 121:As multiday residents, we liked it when all of the tour bus folks left after breakfast, and we had the town to ourselves.

Review 122:struttura nuova e pulita, bella sala ristorante e bar new and clean structure, nice restaurant/breakfast room
