Reviews for Badia di Pomaio

Review 1:#1: THE RESTAURANT IS NOT OPEN and they seem unwilling to change their listing. Do not believe responses to other comments. Call to be sure. Note it is 30+ minutes to town and parking is difficult. #2: In spite of this listings description, the "Superior" rooms do not all have views of the Tuscan countryside. In fact, only 3 of those rooms have such a view. This situation has existed since at least 2012 when we last visited this property. I feel it is wrong to continue to claim, and charge extra for, such an amenity when it does not exist. #3: Not all superior rooms are equal. Our room, #16, and possibly others on the 2nd (top) floor are listed as "Superior" but differ from regular rooms only in terms of size. Our room had no view at all and only a very small window. The cheap plastic shower was moldy and dirty, there was only a single chair in the "double room" and no table. (A stained table and dining room chair were added after we complained).

Review 2:The location and grounds are beautiful. But, it is isolated. The staff is friendly, and the barista and dining room staff are excellent.

Review 3:Would have been nice to offer aperitif while sun set to take advantage of the position.

Review 4:Beautiful setting in the hills near arezzo. Comfortable rooms. Staff helpful.

Review 5:Breakfast should be more locally sourced, milk should fresh and cooked options should be available. Families with kids should be more aware of other guests need of peace.

Review 6:the peacefulness, the view, the surrounding nature, no noise from roads/cars

Review 7:There is no restaurant at all !!!! It is closed since a long time ! This is not a hotel but some kind of agriturismo. Decoration very good, but a very very small room, 16 m2 !!! I made a reservation on your site, trusting the fotos of the rooms and the restaurant. But we were deceived! We spoke with other people who were there and felt the same. Not enough chairs at the swimming pool, no enough beach umbrellas, no umbrella at all on the terasses, this is obviously a place thas has money problems. This is a bed & breakfast. Not at all a reference for your site. They give fantastic pictures on your site which do not match the reality.

Review 8:The view, the friedlyness of the service. The decoration

Review 9:Still getting settled in as new owners. Restaurant was not open yet and had to go out to for our evening meal. As we had no car the owner drove us to a local traditional restaurant which was great.

Review 10:New owners very helpful and friendly. Beautiful pool and location.

Review 11:The staff are all excellent, friendly, helpful and efficient. We were really made to feel welcome. We had not hired a car and Valentina's shuttle bus service was great. The situation is completely tranquil and relaxing with wonderful views over Arezzo. We loved the city of Arezzo, not only for the Piero Della Francesca frescos but for the whole atmosphere.

Review 12:Very nice location in the middle of the country side with an amazing view over Arezzo and the surroundings. Great location to relax. Very nice and tasty restaurant at the hotel...

Review 13:A beautiful 'away from it all' location. Nothing too much trouble for the very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 14:that is a big pitty the restaurant did not operate while I was there for a week

Review 15:view, location and personell!!

Review 16:Everything.

Review 17:Location and the view - stunning. Very nice food and dolce. Very friendly stuff, Giuseppe and Fiora rocks!

Review 18:Hostess unhelpful air conditioner in room not working wifi didn't work in rooms

Review 19:Clean, but poorly maintained. Felt like owner didn't care. For example, outside landscaping/patios were very poorly maintained which diminished the wonderful atmosphere of the gorgeous setting. Planters & pots contained weeds, rather than flowers and tacky looking patios & walkways were made of loose short 2x6s or 2x4s of uneven lengths that moved when you walked on them. I've never seen such awful patios. Front door (first impression) is missing a handle. One 3 bulb light fixture has 2 different types of bulbs and one empty socket. Careless!

Review 20:Restaurant is great. The hotel/restaurant staff are wonderful and are doing a great job. Despite the uncared for (but clean) facility, we greatly enjoyed our stay. Staff tried very hard to make our stay good.

Review 21:The location is great, the Badia lies very peacefully in the countryside, and in particular from its pool, you can look down on the city of Arezzo. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing and overall experience of staying in an ancient monastery was also quite appealing to us; the rooms were on the simple side but ok; the food was very good and the staff were very friendly.

Review 22:Stunning views. Lovely bedroom - classic Italian, no boutique chic here. So peaceful and quiet in this ex monastery. Excellent food. Helpful and efficient receptionist.

Review 23:Long drive up narrow winding mountain road but it's worth it when you get there.

Review 24:Beautifully restored monastery at the top of a hill. The views are stunning, a true paradise. Lovely restaurant with portions ample for two.( encouraged to share) which made it good value. Food at dinner and breakfast superb.

Review 25:The location is set in stunning Tuscan countryside but a bit out of town so you need a car to be able to get to Arrezzo especially at night. The staff were excellent, professional, helpful, friendly. The standards are high and you are made to feel a very welcome guest.

Review 26:Dark rooms. No soundproofing so heard everything in hotel. Broken floorboards to and at patio area. Dangerous to walk to. Waiter rude and loud mouthed, needs a lesson in how to deal with guests properly. Food average. Nowhere comfortable to sit. Bad experience

Review 27:Good view of valley

Review 28:Pool was a bit cold but then the weather had not been great so if they are relying on the heat of the sun to warm it that was explain it.

Review 29:The staff were all very friendly (something quite rare in Italy) The resturant food was amazing and the hill top location was breathtaking

Review 30:The hotel administrator was very professional, informative and extremely helpful, guiding us to the hotel, providing us with information about the area, then providing a shuttle service to the train station in Arezzo as we were catching the train to Florence for the day. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious, with a good choice of wine.Restaurant staff were both helpful and attentive to the client's needs. We wished we had stayed a little longer, and will certainly recommend the hotel to other guests.

Review 31:We had an upgrade to a larger room due to the length of our stay, which didn't have all that great a "panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside" - not sure how many rooms would have this - but the view from the outside garden tables and pool is great. There were some issues with internet connectivity using their wi-fi network, but talking to other guests who were repeat customers these problems were unusual.

Review 32:High levels of comfort in an historical setting. Clearly deserves its **** rating. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was the best we had in Italy, and was not all that expensive. Great views of Arezzo. Yes, the last part of the drive is narrow, steep and winding, but it's only the last 3kms and it's not a big deal, esp given the destination.

Review 33:All was good.

Review 34:Lovely friendly staff - in di9ning room especially - who were so helpful and cheerful. Great situation with wonderful view over the city. Food was excellent and out-of-the-ordinary, with the only complaint being that portions were perhaps too big.

Review 35:It would have been nice to have had tea/coffee making facilities in our room and possibly a lounge menu available for those guests who did not want to eat every night from the a la carte menu.

Review 36:The service at the hotel was excellent with very friendly staff. The location was stunning although a car is really essential. Despite there being no 'cooked options' available at breakfast, the food was beautifully presented with a wide choice of options. Dinner at the hotel was also excellent coupled with an extensive wine list.

Review 37:Steep drive up to the Hotel from Arezzo, but well worth the effort

Review 38:Brilliant staff, and beautiful location. Restaurant was outstanding, and good value for money

Review 39:Insufficient heating in the room and there was no hot water in themornig. It can be a very good place, but probably we were there in thewrong season. The road to the hotel is very narrow. Thanks God thelocation was available in our navigation system.

Review 40:The location is amazing - nice view of Arezzo city. The cellar is a verycousy restaurant in the evening. The room is big.

Review 41:Wi fi was not accessible in the room. Rather worn down.

Review 42:Good service and beautifuly located.

Review 43:i had gone to attend the Arrezzo Fair & this hotel was very far from the main city

Review 44:the greenery all around and the staff were excellent.

Review 45:lovely atmosphere, romantic a bit remoted place surraunded by nature, comfortable room, historical building, warm and welcoming staff

Review 46:Staff friendly Great setting Good views over Arezzo Nice sunset Comfortable room Pool

Review 47:Beautifully restored abbey, beautiful setting, friendly happy staff and nice open air area with pool good to relax.

Review 48:Everything

Review 49:The staff were very helpful

Review 50:Excellent location and friendly staff.

Review 51:the beautiful views and the scenic setting.

Review 52:Lovely setting. Excellent food. Friendly staff. We will be back.
