Reviews for Abbeyglen Cottage
Review 1:Great location; convenient to pubs and close to the airport. Owners were very helpful in giving information and directions and provided a lovely take away breakfast for our early departure!
Review 2:If you are looking for a place to stay the night before flying out of Dublin, this is perfect. You can gas up your rental car across the street, walk a few minutes to an excellent restaurant for dinner, have a delicious breakfast served in a timely manner and have your friendly hosts give you the easy directions to return your rental car and end your trip on a high note.
Review 3:The host give us a warm welcome and provide us nice breakfast tray even we can't have the breakfast the next day morning due to early flight. The host help us to call the taxi and the taxi arrive on time also. It costs around 10 euro. We enjoy the stay so much
Review 4:A warm welcome, a lovely room, very clean and comfortable. Hosts made us tea when we arrived and we had an excellent breakfast in the morning. Highly recommended!
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:The welcome and information from B&B owner's Geraldine & Andrew, who also generously served us a delicious early Breakfast to accommodate our early start. Big 'Thank you' Also a gorgeous room with a very comfortable bed. Added bonus is the close proximity to the Airport. Excellent value for money :-) Great restaurants within walking distance.
Review 7:The noise down the hall - from the young people coming in later. But - it wasn't that late (10ish) - and it wasn't that much of a problem. Just an adjustment
Review 8:The quietness - glazed windows - even though 5 minutes to airport. 5 minutes to airport - for our early morning flight! Our hosts. Friendly. More than helpful.
Review 9:Nothing!
Review 10:Bernadette and Andrew were just the most perfect hosts. They were a wealth of information for us and gave us the opportunity to explore Dublin in just a few hours!
Review 11:Received a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble for this couple. They directed us to The School House pub a short walk away. We had a superb steak and, after the footy, listened to varied and lively music from a four-piece group. Combined with the friendliness of staff, band members and patrons, this made for a memorable night. Breakfast at the B&B was also excellent, especially the porridge.
Review 12:We stayed in 13 different hotels/B&Bs during our trip to Ireland and Scotland, and this was by far the best! The hosts were very gracious and their attention to detail was evident throughout.
Review 13:Nothing.
Review 14:Andrew and Bernadette were great hosts who made us feel very welcome. They gave us an excellent recommendation where to have dinner. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our breakfast was fantastic and we would definitely stay there again.
Review 15:Not enough time to enjoy the facility and their full breakfast.
Review 16:The owners were absolutely fantastic. We felt like we were family. They even prepared our breakfast before the regular scheduled time so we could get to the airport early enough for our flight.
Review 17:Andrew and Bernadette were lovely hosts. They allowed us to drop our bags a few hours early while they were getting the room ready. Bernadette provided us with great restaurant suggestions, and gave us the bus schedule to help us get into Dublin City Centre. The bus stop was only a 5 minute walk from the B&B. The breakfast was amazing, with great selection and large portions. We would definitely stay again!
Review 18:It is the perfect bed and breakfast. The owners are the most thoughtful, sincere and kind hosts. Even though we only stayed the one night, it was truly restful. We enjoyed our stay in Swords. It was a perfect way to end our Ireland trip.
Review 19:Bernadette and Andrew could not have been nicer! Lovely packed breakfast for our early flight! The room was clean. There were ample amenities. WIFI was good. No complaints!!
Review 20:We spent here the first and the last two days of our two-week-long trip in Ireland, and Abbeyglen Cottage was the most wonderful beginning and end we could imagine! The hospitality of Bernadette and Andrew was outstanding. The room was lovely and very well equipped, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the beautifully served, delicious breakfast was something to remember. The location is absolutely convenient both to the airport and Dublin city. After staying here, we would not stay anywhere else if visiting Dublin again!
Review 21:I very much liked the personal touch of the owners. They made me feel 'wanted' to be there. Gave me valuable tips on how to spend the short period that I spent in Dublin to the max.
Review 22:Everything about the place was excellent. The breakfast was very nice with everything you could ask for.The couple made us feel very welcome .Very nice people.
Review 23:The landlady, Bernadette, did everything to make us a pleasant stay; information, advice, breakfast, bedding. We arrived early, nevertheless the room was made up.
Review 24:If you don't have a car, not sure if it's easy to get there with public transportation.
Review 25:host and hostess are wonderful! so friendly and informative. the place is so clean, bed is very comfortable....also, near by pub they suggested " School House " is awesome!!
Review 26:The hosts were warm and welcoming and very attentive to our needs, including booking our transportation to the airport for our departure. Abbeyglen is situated close to Dublin airport, an ideal location for our last night before heading home.
Review 27:Our hosts were very helpful with their information on getting around Dublin. The breakfasts were fantastic and you can' t beat the location being close to the airport.
Review 28:Having to leave after only one night! Next time we go to Dublin we will stay longer. Thanks again Bernadette & Andrew for giving us such a great start to our trip. :)
Review 29:Bernadette & Andrew were more than helpful with advice & suggestions about the area. The room was comfortable & quiet. The breakfast was just to "die for" the choices were plenty & all fresh & well presented. We really can't recommend Abbey Glen highly enough.
Review 30:Bernadette and Andrew couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The room was quite comfortable. Dining area is inviting and comfortable, and breakfast at a high standard.
Review 31:We were met on arrival by Andrew who was very welcoming and he was very flexible in agreeing to a late check in. Nothing was too much trouble. Andrew made us a pot of tea to have in the bedroom before going to bed. His wife Bernadette was there at breakfast time and also was very friendly and welcoming. It was a lovely breakfast.
Review 32:Bernadette was gracious enough to spend time with us to give insider directions to ensure our early morning arrival at the airport. A lovely to-go breakfast was provided. The room was beautiful, quiet and very clean and modern. Our only regret was our too short stay.
Review 33:Other than the rooms being slightly small, this B&B was wonderful in every way.
Review 34:Bernadette and Andrew were incredibly welcoming and gracious hosts. At check-in, they anticipated all of our questions and provided great details about the B&B itself and the Swords area, as well as clear and detailed directions to the airport. Breakfast was extensive and delicious.
Review 35:Everything was new, clean and all very modern. And it was ten minutes to return car and five minutes to airport. The owners were wonderful and helpful on where to eat and direction to the airport. Great breakfast also. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 36:We were greeted warmly and checked in early. Bernadette gave excellent information so we could get in and out of Dublin to see the Book of Kells. She also gave is awesome time saving advice to the airport to make it simple. She provided a take away breakfast since we were leaving early. Since we left early she gave us hot chocolate the night before we left that was soo sweet! If we are to be near Dublin again we will stay here. She was very calming to two nervous travelers. Thank you Bernadette and Andrew!
Review 37:Bernadette and Andrew were incredibly nice and the Cottage was immaculate and perfectly located in Swords. The airport was 5 minutes away and a short distance to Dublin, but far enough away to get away from the big city. Breakfast was FABULOUS! I definitely recommend staying at Abbeyglen.
Review 38:After a long day of travel it was tough having to listen to all of the instructions and having to put in our breakfast order the night before.
Review 39:Very comfortable, close to the airport. The breakfast was outstanding
Review 40:I don't have anything negative to stay!
Review 41:Bernadette & Andrew make you feel so welcome. The room is large, well eqipped (WiFi excellent) and with a comfortable bed. The choice of breakfast offers something for just about anybody. The Full Irish is my absolute favourite! It is nice to have most part of breakfast served. Only cereals are at the buffet.
Review 42:After paying for a double because a single was not available, felt Bernadette was less than gracious knocking on my door within 4 minutes of check out time alerting me to the dire need to adhere to departing from the premises.
Review 43:The welcome from Andrew was warm and accommodations were pristine.
Review 44:There is nothing about this place that I could find fault with.
Review 45:The privacy the quietness, the layout of the b+b, the thelpfulness of the owners, in fact everything about the place was 1st class.
Review 46:Loved how easy it was to park the car then get the Swords Express into Dublin for the day and evening. Lovely couple who own and manage the place. Very clean and charming. The provided lots of information on how to get into Dublin, where to go, suggestions on where to eat, provided a city map; can't recommend this place enough. Left too early to enjoy the home cooked, made to order breakfast, but Bernadette packed us a "take away" breakfast which was terrific. Wish we had been able to stay longer.
Review 47:The only disappointing thing I can say is that I was looking forward to a lie in as it was Saturday morning but there was a water boiler or something that came on about 7.30am and did not stop making a loud noise until I left at 10.00am. I could not sleep after 7.30am.
Review 48:From the minute I walked in to the bed and breakfast to the time I left the owners were very professional and friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and there was plenty of food. I stayed in the front of the house also and it was really quiet. I stayed on the 13.03.15 and I was alone.
Review 49:Excellent localization, close to DUB airport, restaurant and pub nerby. Lovely hosts who welcomed us as if we were relatives create great atmosphere. Tasty and beautifully served food, very clean and comfy rooms.
Review 50:A patronising welcome. 20 minutes wasted by landlady explaining to us how to turn on and off the TV and how to lock and unlock the front door. Became worried there would be a test at the end and if we didn't pass would be sent on our way. Land lady's husband was obviously under the thumb and was marched round with constant instructions issued. Even when we refused certain 'services' she was still insistent they were carried out! We generally felt belittled by a land lady who was obsessed with 'standards' and forgot that this was a B n B and not a five star hotel. Please ease off!!!
Review 51:On the whole this is an excellent well appointed B n B perfectly located for Dublin Airport and the better pubs in Swords.
Review 52:Everything was great!
Review 53:From the moment we arrived Andrew and Bernadette spoiled us. Bernadette will answer any questions you have about the area. Comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious.
Review 54:Very friendly and helpful staff that go out of their way to make you feel at home. Very close to the airport for early departures. Quiet even though close to the airport and main streets as we didn't hear anything to keep us awake even though our room faced the street.
Review 55:Spurs supporters! Only joking everything was great.
Review 56:The hosts were amazing. So friendly and welcoming. Pointed me to the best pub in town for dinner( off a side street so would have found it ) the breakfast was fantastic and fresh. The bed was great and room clean and very quiet. It was very close to Dublin airport so perfect place without the soulless ness of a hotel chain
Review 57:We booked this B&B in Swords as an alternative to staying in the city of Dublin. We had an early flight and thought this would be more convenient for driving to the airport. We were right! It's only a few kilometers away and takes only a few minutes to arrive at the airport. The B&B is excellent! Everything seems new, the décor is neutral and nice, and the rooms are very comfortable. The owners are wonderful and so accommodating. They were so disappointed that we would be leaving before breakfast in the morning that they brought us a breakfast tray of portable breakfast items like yoghurt, bagels and cream cheese, fruit and breads and bags to pack the items in so we could either eat in the room or take the items with us (which we did). I left my phone in our room in our rush to leave and the owners let me know right away that they had it and would mail it to me, which was a huge relief. We would highly recommend this property.
Review 58:We loved just everything about the place. I'm not joking - everything =) and very close to the airport - right what we needed when travelling by car.
Review 59:Great experience. Very gracious hosts, comfortable, updated, clean. Excellent breakfast. Cute little town of swords a nice start to our Irish adventure
Review 60:I don't have a single thing to Champlain about.
Review 61:This was just perfect for a last night in Ireland stay. The owners were helpful and delightful. Spotless room and a wonderful breakfast. I have made many trips to Ireland and this was one the very best last nights rest. So close to the airport and very reasonable. I hope to stay there again next year!
Review 62:That we only stayed one night here!
Review 63:Everything about this B&B exceeded our expectations. The bed was the most comfy we had in our nine night stay in Ireland, and the bathroom was the best. The hosts went out of their way to accommodate our very early departure and what they consider a "continental breakfast" was amazing. (No full breakfast since we were leaving so early.) Our room faced the street and despite the busy road, we couldn't hear a thing. Just a mile and a half or so from Dublin airport and the hosts had a lot of good advice for handling our exit from the country. Outstanding value for the money!
Review 64:The owners were lovely people who went out of their way to ensure our stay with them was first class. The breakfasts were full of choice and presented and cooked to a very high standard. The room had everything that is needed and again to a high standard. We would not hessitate in returning in the future.
Review 65:We spent two weeks in Ireland traveling around staying at different bed and breakfasts in Ireland. Many of them were really nice......but Abbey Glen was my favorite!!! It was because of our hosts. Bernadette and her husband are AMAZING! They were so kind and friendly. I so enjoyed talking with them. The rooms were clean, comfortable and parking was very convenient. The breakfast was awesome. You were treated like royalty! I would love to return!
Review 66:Suitable for those needing accommodation close to the airport but would not choose the location for extended stay, if we wanted to have a true Irish experience.
Review 67:Bernadette and Andrew were the perfect hosts. They made us feel right at home. Food was great. Room was perfect. A VERY comfortable bed.Everything so clean and well cared for. Easy access to bus line. Owners very helpful in answering our questions and making suggestions for our sight seeing etc. we would certainly use this home again, next time we are passing through Dublin.
Review 68:A little too much love and attention when we first arrived. Didn't get a chance to enjoy the full breakfast.
Review 69:Happy to spend time clarifying our needs and requirements. Very helpful.
Review 70:We had to leave too early for sit-down breakfast (but a nicely done take-away was provided and a pot of coffee delivered to our room)
Review 71:Rooms are very nicely furnished with plenty of space and a generous en-suite. Hosts are extremely helpful with everything from where to eat, shop, walk to detailed airport arrangements.
Review 72:Guests are made very welcome by Bernadette and Andrew. They are charming and gracious hosts. The breakfasts are beautifully prepared to order and served to each guest at table. Quiet for sleeping and my room had everything I could need for a very comfortable stay. Look forward to staying at Abbeyglen next year when I return to ?Dublin.
Review 73:Where else can you get a custom-made-to-order breakfast that when served looked like it came from a 5 star hotel?! The B & B is one story so no shlepping suitcases up tiny stairwells.
Review 74:It was close to the airport, which was very convenient for next morning flight. Hosts were very welcoming. They helped us with bags. Guided us through the house to the dining area where they offered us juice and cookies and we chatted. They recommended several dining spots but we chose the SchoolHouse which was wonderful. Prepared a breakfast tray for us, because of early morning checkout. We would certainly come again.
Review 75:At night when the windows and doors are closed it can get very "enclosed". Street noise is largely reduced by the double glassed windows but it is a busy road.
Review 76:The owners were fantastic. Great pub down the road and there is nearby fuel and internet cafe.
Review 77:If anything, it was too perfect. One could not fault them.
Review 78:Both Bernadette and Andrew made every effort possible to make our stay perfect, everything was 'just so'. Recommendations for places to eat were spot on and we returned for a second night to the one they advised, the food was great. The home could not have been cleaner and it was quiet at night. The guest dining room had sofas where it was comfortable to sit and read. Our room was small, but we were warned of this and given the option to refuse it. Very considerate hosts.
Review 79:Perfect way to end our Irish vacation. The room & bath were lovely and immaculately clean. The breakfast in the lovely dining room was delicious. Bernadette & Anthony were perfect hosts.
Review 80:Bernadette and Andrew our hosts were superb. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and tidy, the bed very comfortable and the en - suite immaculate. The breakfast was plentiful with great variety and prepared to perfection. We would recommend this to anyone and look forward to our next visit
Review 81:Nothing to dislike
Review 82:Abbeyglen is spotlessly clean, Bernadette and Andrew are great hosts, breakfast was delicious and they recommended a great pub. Would highly recommend.
Review 83:i loved the irish breakfast, the staff was very helpful and friendly, my husband loves U2 and they played U2 whilst he was having his breakfast, we will be returning to this hotel very soon xx
Review 84:Bernadette & Andrew were so very welcoming, and their wealth of local knowledge enabled us to get the most from the easily walkable attractions and local cuisine. Excellent food and accommodation. Hope to see you again!
Review 85:Having to leave! :(
Review 86:Bernadette & Andrew make a stay at Abbeyglen a home away from home experience. Attentive, polite, personable and gracious they are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and they are willing and ready to help with any detail, small or large. The B&B is in a great location within easy walking distance to pubs, restaurants, shops and the express bus to Dublin. Comfortable rooms are decorated and cleaned to a v. high standard, with power shower and fluffy towels! Breakfast was amazing and cooked to order. We loved it and would absolutely stay again.
Review 87:Nothing, everything was amazing
Review 88:We had and amazing stay and were absolutely delighted by the warm welcome of both the hosts, the great tips on what to do in Swords and the amazing and very complete homecooked breakfast! The care in everything is wonderful and made our last day in ireland a day to remember!
Review 89:The word "great" fits everything about this B&B from the hosts to location to comfort and cleanliness to the breakfast. I didn't believe a place could have a perfect rating until I stayed here.
Review 90:Excellent B&B: beautiful cottage with lovely people; comfortable room with wifi. Home made great breakfast! Bus stop to Dublin city center near the cottage, just two minutes walk.
Review 91:See above comments.
Review 92:Property was in tip top condition. Very well maintain . However coming from a tropical country, the afternoon sun streaming into the front room was a little uncomfortable due to the heat. Fortunately we were able to open the window to let in some breeze. Overall very happy with our host hospitality .
Review 93:The house had a smell inside that was hard to describe but was not fresh. Our bathroom also smelt damp.
Review 94:Great location for getting to airport but also good for access to shops, pubs and restaurants. Nice to have option of breakfast to go.
Review 95:We were greeted warmly and given a nice tour of the B and B. The rooms were very nice and the location was wonderful. Cabs and busses were readily available and we were in walking distance of a highly recommended pub - The School House.
