Reviews for Glenshandan Lodge
Review 1:charged extra for breakfast, even though one of our party could not attend, we were also charged. breakfast was very poor, and we would not have paid for it, had we been told beforehand, we would have made other arrangements. We left immediately after The room had not been throroughly cleaned, as we found cigarettes from the last guests, but generally the property looked clean and welcoming
Review 2:the seasonal decor was very good
Review 3:Leaving
Review 4:Not furnished like a regular hotel....much more stylish and very warm and cosy. Close to plenty of restaurants and the Pavillion Shopping Centre. We had an early flight and it was very handy to drive to the airport...only took about 5 minutes. Great value. We'll stay again.
Review 5:Nothing that I didnt like!
Review 6:Very nice, polite staff, comfortable and clean premises, a good selection available for breakfast, which was very enjoyable. To be honest, it was better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in lately. The B&B was very near the National Show Centre where we were attending an event. It was also very close to the Airside shopping centre which had a lot of restaurants and shops to keep us busy. For younger kids Fun Galaxy (a very good, large indoor play area)was also nearby.
Review 7:We were given a terrible room. Furniture and facilities poorly maintained and grubby and old. The whole room needs a well over due renovation. The bed creeked and the matress uncomfortable.
Review 8:Located close to the airport in a cute local town.
Review 9:Ongoing construction resulted in 3 hrs without running water for showers or toilet. Entry way and parking area cluttered with construction related materials. Hair dryer provided did not work.
Review 10:Attractive exterior. Helpful staff. Location near Dublin airport. Large room. May be quite nice when ongoing work is complete.
Review 11:Damp tired building, suspicious characters hanging round. Grubby dated room with very slippery polished floors in room and bathroom. Felt more like a knocking shop than B n B
Review 12:Location excellent for swords and Dublin airport
Review 13:Bookin.com told us it was the last available room so We had to take a family room when the owner told us on arrival that we could have had a room for two. I don't know if we had to pay more because the room slept five, two double beds and a single,or the price would have been the same for a twinbed room. It was cramped, and my duvet was horribly heavy and lumpy. I did not sleep comfortably. We did not eat there.
Review 14:Fairly close to airport. On site parking.
Review 15:The property is a little outdated and the room was a little cramped. The shower was extremely small. Smaller than most European shower standards.
Review 16:The location was great. Less than a 10-minute drive to the airport. Property is very close to the indoor mall.
Review 17:Key code entrance which always didn't work and when I rang the bell for assistance the guy who answered wasn't too happy and asked me was I drunk ?
Review 18:Their voicemail was full so we couldn't leave a message. Didn't get rooms close together.
Review 19:Great location to get to the airport the next morning. Free wi-fi - didn't even have to ask as details were provided at check-in. Library for guests (and you can even take the book with you). No problem arriving later than expected.
Review 20:We had a great experience at Glenshandan. The location had easy access to the airport and bus access to Dublin. The staff was magnificent -- very helpful, really made us feel at home. Highly recommended!
Review 21:the walls are a bit thin and noise could be heard between rooms.
Review 22:The family atmosphere. It felt like being a guest in someone's home. The location, Swords, is also underrated for people just wanting a quick getaway and not necessarily wanting to be in the bustle of Dublin city centre.
Review 23:Only negative was the smell from the shower in the penthouse suite. It was very over powering. Would have liked breakfast in price.
Review 24:Staff were friendly.
Review 25:WiFi in the room was tough, but excellent in the common areas.
Review 26:The staff of this place made it for us. We needed to store our bicycle carriers while we toured and they agreed for free. They were very helpful with everything from food recommendations to logistics and options.
Review 27:The WiFi in the room was tough, but excellent in the common areas.
Review 28:Our room was on the ground floor and TINY. We walked in on a hot day with window open and a terrible paraffin oil burning smell from a party in garden behind the WALL in front of our window. We had to close window. We were very pleased we were there for one night only. The inside does not reflect on the lovely photo of the outside.
Review 29:Breakfast was great but no friendly face to greet us.
Review 30:The only negative was that we did not stay longer! We won't make that mistake next time!
Review 31:We arrived late due to our plane being delayed. Regardless, the night staff let us in with a warm greeting and helped us get settled in. The family room was huge, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was lavish.
Review 32:Only stayed one night, would have like to stay longer.
Review 33:Family room spacious & clean. Loads of room with added bonus of "sitting room" upstairs & balcony for guests use. Owners very pleasant & accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again & would recommend it to family & friends.
Review 34:Location too far from town, and unknown to the taxi drivers who needed directions!
Review 35:Great upstairs room with 6 beds for family or group of friends, nice facilities, great breakfast, bit run-down exterior but not a problem.
Review 36:The only drawback was the trash that was in the front when we pulled up. It was windy so maybe that was why it was there and not yet picked up.
Review 37:We were 2 seniors with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 kids aged 8, 11, and 13. Finding a large room for all of us together saved us money and was a treat on our last night together. Plus the breakfast was great and cooked to order.
Review 38:Sockets were retrofitted to an old style room and could be better fitted. I couldn't get a second cot for my other child though I had neglected to book it ahead so probably my own fault.
Review 39:Huge room, loads of space, great to have access to a shared fridge, nice and friendly staff, accessible to main roads and local facilities in Swords.
Review 40:Needed a thorough cleaning. Mattresses very worn out. Offered tea and then never served. Smoking by front entrance. Not a good value. We could have stayed at good hotel for less.
Review 41:It was easy to find.
Review 42:we stay just for one night in anticipation of leaving from the airport in the following morning. It was conveniently located to the airport. the decor was very tasteful and appealing to my eye. It was homey without bwing worn. Maria was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. It was located in a small town, where it was easy to walk to a restaurant and also to church and lots of other places that we did not go to.
Review 43:The door bell was badly situated and as I stepped towards it, there was insufficient room to put my foot down, and I fell backwards down three or four steps, landing on my back. Very sore!
Review 44:Very noisy the night we stayed. Lots of groups arriving back very late in the night/morning and making lots of noise. One person (who must have misplaced their key or got separted from friends) banging on front door downstairs for nearly half an hour at 3.30am!! Bad nights sleep had! No wifi code provided in room.
Review 45:Breakfast wos very gud. Lovely house and accommodation.
Review 46:Close to Dublin airport, great family feel, room very spacious for 5 people, loved the town. We recommend a meal at the Old School House. Plan to return.
Review 47:Maybe a bit more attractive to outside on arrival but just being picky.
Review 48:Very central to everything and within walking distance to all shops, pubs and restaurants. Dining room very well laid out and service very good breakfast very good.
Review 49:Nothing!
Review 50:The staff were brilliant and very knowledgeable about the area. The location is ideal with everything within walking distance! The beds were very comfortable and breakfast was lovely.
Review 51:Very outdated. Might have been a four star 15 years ago no wifi working tv controls did not work bedroom door would not close without locking it. Very poor breakfast, really it was false advertising to what it describes
Review 52:Near the town
Review 53:There was a bad smell in the bathroom. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The floor was dirty.Kettle was in a dangerous place with electrical cord hanging over bed not a good idea with young children.Could hear the traffic outside was a bit noise.Needs a bit of TLC.
Review 54:The breakfast was good and the room size was great for large family such as ours.
Review 55:Rooms need updating a bit, they looked quite tired. Breakfast were nice except the bacon & sausages were cold every day.
Review 56:Location was good for us. Halloween decorations in hotel were good. Plenty Hot water and nice tea/coffee making facility. Good off road parking. Comfortable stay.
Review 57:When we three checked in the male innkeeper made very inappropriate remarks to the younger member of our group about her traveling with "2 old ladies". He suggested she could not have had much fun. How RUDE! There was no option for a very early check out. No refund on the breakfast we did not get. All in all a not very friendly place for travel fatigued guests. The door to the bedroom would not stay closed unless you locked it. Key to lock difficult. The walls are paper thin and the heat either blasts you out of the room or freezes you. Great if you want to catch pneumonia. The TV got one channel and the remote batteries were dead.
Review 58:Not much. It was pretty from the outside and the public areas were attractive.
Review 59:Other guests slamming doors all night long and very uncomfortable beds. Skimpy breakfast.
Review 60:Location and restaurant recommendation....The Old School House Pub!
Review 61:too many beds in the room would have prefered a king or dble bed and a nice table with two easy chairs .
Review 62:The ambiance of the building and interior, the helpfulness of the staff and a good cooked breakfast
Review 63:The room was quite small. One night was fine but a longer stay would have been difficult.
Review 64:We only had a few hours in this hotel before flying out very early. The room was clean and comfortable and we would have been happy to have had a few more hours in the comfortable bed! There are lots of pubs, restaurants and shops in Swords and it is very convenient to the airport.
Review 65:Front of lodge was dirty and unkempt but the rooms was clean. Dark hallways when waking up early to checkout.
Review 66:Friendly staff, clean rooms, free parking, location to DUB, location to local pubs
Review 67:The furniture in the bedroom was chipped and damaged, the water temperature in the shower was all over the place, and I damaged a shirt while ironing because the iron was permanently at max heat. There was no wi-fi connectivity in my room.
Review 68:The location is good for Dublin Airport, there is off-street parking and the eating options and other amenities in the Swords district are fine. My bed was reasonably comfortable and breakfast was OK.
Review 69:In the room that we were in there were separate hot and cold faucets, which is not much to complain about. Walls a little thin, we could hear someone coughing upstairs early morning.
Review 70:Easy to find, and easy to check in! Staff was great, and the mall was only 5 minute walk away. Airport was only a 5-10 minute taxi ride. The gardens were nice too.
Review 71:no table to sit at in room only one chair for two people bed a bit on small side furniture past it's best
Review 72:location close to town centre. good free car parking nice clean towels each day
Review 73:We didn't like that we had to leave early to catch a plane, which means that we didn't have a chance to try their breakfast, which I'm sure was delicious.
Review 74:We liked that this B&B was so close to the City Centre, it was very clean and the host was more than helpful and felt that there is a solution to every problem! :) I would highly recommend this B&B.
Review 75:The directions we were over the phone were difficult to follow. Our gpswasn't working-use it.
Review 76:Very good breakfast for 5 euros each. Good WiFi in room. Very nicelooking Lodge. Shower worked well.
Review 77:We were barely greeted, handed our key and told breakfast was from 7.30 although it said 7 on the dining room door. TV didn't work the first night and after bringing it to there attention it was fixed but with only 1 channel. Drawers hadn't been cleared of previous occupiers personal property. The rooms were tired and the bathrooms could do with being redone instead of a patchwork of tile sealant.
Review 78:The location was excellent and the room size good for a family of 5. The staff at breakfast were extremly pleasent and helpful.
Review 79:Would have made it easier to locate if better instructions were made available for international visitors.
Review 80:On arrival (after unsuccessfully trying to follow the directions we were given) we were greeted in a friendly manner and taken to our very comfortable room. We were impressed with the breakfast menu - and the female staff member who looked after us - and thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay. Will gladly recommend Glenshandan Lodge,
Review 81:We were in Dublin for a game at Croke Park at 2:00. Check in is usually after 3:00 but when we arrived at 11:30 we were met by Christina who told us our room was not ready but if we gave her an hour, it would be no problem. Went into the village and had breakfast and when we returned, the room was ready and Christina arranged for a taxi to the game. The room was very comfortable and so conveniently located near the airport, a shopping center and plenty of places to eat and drink. We would definately return!
Review 82:Beds were a bit worn out
Review 83:Travel to airport was very quick and simple, room was and great value for the money and we did not get charged extra for a simple continental breakfast.
Review 84:WiFi was a bit weak and didn't work everywhere in the unit.
Review 85:The townhouse we stayed in felt like deluxe accommodations. There was plenty of space for our family of 5 and we all could have stayed much longer than the 2 nights we planned. A short walk on a traffic-free path to shops and restaurants.
Review 86:Parking tight. Workers on roof kept us awake until after 11:30 p.m. banging and using machine and we were leaving at 4 a.m. Owner stated didn't think it would disrupt us and offered 50% discount on next stay but we won't be returning and believed it was a very poor excuse and a poor offer.
Review 87:Lovely big room, nice people
Review 88:The proprietors were very nice and accomodating. We found the room too small for our family and the location (though convenient for th airport and Dublin) was too close to the road and was noisy at night.
Review 89:Family room was quite small for four people. Quality of breakfast was poor.
Review 90:Nothing
Review 91:Convenient location
Review 92:Very nice staff clean rooms will book again
Review 93:Breakfast

Review 95:Guest smoking and laughing out side our room early in the morning Bathroom seriously needs updating shower too low
Review 96:Easy access late at night
Review 97:Was late with 5 minutes for breakfast and couldn't eat...
Review 98:Just the rpoms
Review 99:Dirty room. Strange cigarette smell. Noise from a party next room the whole night. No credit card payment possible.
Review 100:Next to the airport.
Review 101:Staff were conspicuous by their absence.
Review 102:Room clean and Tidy
