Reviews for Hotel Italia

Review 1:Considering g this was our hotel to stay at during our wedding in Cortona, the prior arrangements to have my wedding dress picked up at our arrival and brought for launder steaming, was completely forgot about and the manager who confirmed in writing was not available. The staff present could not converse well and didn't understand ,unchanged English-- much added stress for myself as the bride -- the two nights before my dream wedding. Additionally, we had no heat the first night of our stay and their computer systems and generator were in and out. Since the initial hotel we were directed to stay in was closed, this was the hotel we stayed at. It would be helpful in the future that management follow through to help provide confirmed services especially for a wedding.. As well as any others. Heating should not be an issue and that should have been discounted from our stay.. As we were bundled in layers of clothes.

Review 2:The beauty of the hotel was amazing as was Phillipe who tried to make everything right. Phillipe was phenomenal and we appreciated his willingness to go above and beyond. Some things were not explained to us such as the heating and the drinks/snacks service...which would have been very helpful.

Review 3:I really enjoyed my stay in Hotel Italia, the location was so central and the staff were very friendly. The view from the breakfast room was beautiful and the bedroom was very clean and comfortable and had everything you needed. I would highly recommend Hotel Italia as a place to stay and I hope to return there again some time soon.

Review 4:Nothing to note

Review 5:Outstanding accommodation, friendly staff, great breakfast in exceptional location. highly recommended. Best place we stayed in, in Italy.

Review 6:12 hour period of no wifi. No hot water for shower one morning. No kettle in the room. Room somewhat uncomfortable.. very narrow single bed and nowhere to put your luggage.

Review 7:Good location near main square and lovely views from breakfast room on 4th floor. Good breakfast - choice of cereal fresh fruit salad sweet pastries cold meats and cheese. Eggs €2 extra.

Review 8:Everything was up to our exaptation

Review 9:The location was great and the staff were very helpful, The room was clean and spacious, and we were given a free upgrade.

Review 10:There isn't any dedicated parking or assistance with finding parking. If I hadn't been there before it would have been difficult to locate and navigate to the location

Review 11:Location

Review 12:The staff were kind, the hotel is ideally situated, and the view out our window was stunning. And a great restaurant--La Laggetta--on ther piazza outside.

Review 13:Cortona has so much to offer if you like walking and the Hotel Italia was a great place to stay, clean room friendly helpful staff, happily stay there again

Review 14:Parking the car outside the walls for 3 days left it sticky from sap from the trees.

Review 15:Perfectly located within the town. The staff were extremely helpful. Their reccommendation for local restaurants led to the best meal we had in our 2 week holiday in Italy. Amazing view from our window - down a valley to a lake - perfect.

Review 16:The wifi was dodgy and the bed not the most comfortable.

Review 17:The location is very central. The room was simple but clean and offered wonderful views. The staff were extremely accomodating.

Review 18:When I checked out and gave them my credit card they said they had already run the credit card I guananteed with. I wanted to use a different card that does not charge a international exchange fee. They would not change At

Review 19:Location and view from breakfast room

Review 20:The management couple were fantastic, lovely approachable and very obliging and helpful. Would highly recommend any traveler to Cortona to stay here.

Review 21:Internet was a little on/off, the signal was not very strong in our room. We took a taxi from the train station for set price of 12 Euros and they take you to the hotel. Our bus did not drop us at the Piazza on Via Nationale so we had to walk up the hill into town. This is not recommended for anybody afraid of hills. But if your staying in Cortona then you should expect an uphill climb wandering the town.

Review 22:Location in the center of Cortona. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was great and not too small. Heat worked well. Elevator worked great. Breakfast was really good. Not a full buffet style but plenty of good things to start the day. We stayed 3 days as a base of touring and worked well.

Review 23:We were immediatelg greeted upon our arrival. The staff had already set up the crib for our 1yo. We also had the passcodes for WiFi at the desk and had no issues with the connection. The breakfast room was lovely, with a wonderful view.

Review 24:Wifi was a challenge for everyone I spoke with. I guess that is to be expected in an 600 year old building, but it was still frustrating. Parking is non-existent, so be prepared to haul your bags a quarter mile or more.

Review 25:Being right on the Piazza, the location was very desirable. There is a lot of energy and nice restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was very spacious and comfortably appointed.

Review 26:The breakfast is basic Italian. There was a sign offering eggs for a charge, but otherwise it is bready and sweet. Didn't bother us, but just be aware of it. Wifi is based on printed codes which you have to reinput into your browser every time the laptop starts up. My Kindle wouldn't even attempt to connect.

Review 27:The view from the breakfast room is really great. The location of the hotel, just down a short hill from the main square is ideal. It was nice to have a lift in the hotel as well. Thought be aware that Cortona is very steep. Especially if you are coming in from the bus stop at Mercato, the entrance road is quite steep. One of the nicest beds we had in a hotel in a long time. The shower had excellent pressure and temperature. There is a really good restaurant around the corner.(Pozzo Antico)

Review 28:Only that the wifi would only work down in the reception area.

Review 29:It was so authentic, yet so comfortable. It was quiet & it was right next to a lovely restaurant. The breakfast room was sunny & bright with an incredible view.

Review 30:For the money, rooms were very small, no curtains especially in overlooked bathroom, no drinks facilities, shower head broken, shower leaked all over the floor, no waste basket... More like €60 room not €120!

Review 31:Staff were friendly and helpful. Views are stunning

Review 32:would have appreciated an easy chair or two in the room.

Review 33:Very good and cheerful desk staff. As the hotel is hill top located very much appreciated being able to use car to deliver/collect luggage.

Review 34:breakfast was mediocre at best

Review 35:The hotel is right is the centre of Cortona, the location couldn't be better. Staff were very friendly and so very helpful. The rooms were ok and clean, as you would expect for a hotel chain. Nice hotel

Review 36:Friendly staff, gave good recommendations on where to eat, shop and sightseeing. Very accommodating with getting a taxi service. Great breakfast with a beautiful view. Wi-Fi was very good.

Review 37:A bit hard to sleep if people are walking about -thin walls

Review 38:Philippo and the other personnel made us instantly feel at home and were very helpful. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, and the city of Cortona is well worth visiting! Amazing weekend.

Review 39:The beds weren't very comfortable meaning we didn't sleep very well.

Review 40:The town of Cortona is beautiful and this goes for Hotel Italia too. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. We were there for a wedding and they found us an iron after everything got creased in the bags!! Breakfast was fab and overlooking the countryside below was a lovely way to start the day! I would definitely recommend this hotel - it's just off the main square with everything you need right there.

Review 41:Internet didn't work well 2 years ago and had to go to the lobby to get stuff done. Same this time around. Didn't work in the room. :(

Review 42:Stayed their previously and the moment I went to the room I realized it was the same I had last time and the mattress had been horrible. This time, it was fantastic. Thanks for changing it. :)

Review 43:The decor was very dated. They should remove all the cheap pictures off walls, and the fake flowers everywhere. This alone would improve the decor. Parking was poor due to lack of enough lots. If you're lucky enough to get a free spot, don't move it.

Review 44:We loved the location, price, and cleanliness. Breakfast was just right, served in a rooftop view room. We paid high prices in other towns so this was a nice change. The beds were great and room was quiet.

Review 45:The wi-fi didn't always work in the room and you constantly have to keep logging in even when actively using one's device.

Review 46:The beds were so soft and comfortable. After a long day of traveling or sight-seeing you want a good nights sleep, plus the a/c were strong and refreshing. The was weather was hot/humid so the a/c was a life-saver!

Review 47:The bed could have been more comfortable. There was a small device in the ceiling directly above my pillow which had a small light which flashed all day and night.

Review 48:The location is convenient. For a solo traveller, it feels safe to come and go, even after dark. The staff was very helpful in my efforts to get information from my airline contact, and also in giving me an overview of the town. My single room was very small, but both it and the bathroom were spotless! The air conditioner, which I used sparingly, provided relief in the 30 degree July temperatures. A real highlight was the breakfast. The food was ample, the service friendly, and the panoramic view from the fourth floor stunning. It was a very nice place to stay in Cortona.

Review 49:I did not like the fact that my cheque was cashed immediately I sent it in April.

Review 50:The atmosphere of the hotel, the breakfast dining area and the food, the view from the dining area and the friendly staff

Review 51:Breakfast was excellent.

Review 52:Nothing, more pillows though.

Review 53:Great location, staff very friendly and the breakfast location on the top floor was spectacular, excellent food and all.

Review 54:Great staff. Lovely breakfast room

Review 55:Everything, accessible -- friendly -- clean

Review 56:The location was excellent,50 meters from the main piazza. Both the young men I dealt with at the front desk were friendly and helpful.

Review 57:Everything and wouldn't stay anywhere else

Review 75:Breakfast could be improved to enhance the lovely rooftop eating area.

Review 76:Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely views from room.

Review 77:Everything was great, a fantastic hotel along with the staff. Would stay there again

Review 78:nothing

Review 79:clean - looks like it is very well maintained and fresh. Great location, friendly staff.Great value

Review 80:We wanted the Tuscan experience and got it with Hotel Italia. A plus is the fact that the best food in Cortona is right next door.

Review 81:WiFi a little weak in my room

Review 82:Nice breakfast in scenic rooftop room. Lovely welcoming greeting when I arrived

Review 83:The rooms were charming and spacious. The hotels location perfect.

Review 84:all ,the staff where, very helpfull, and have time for you.

Review 87:No fridge in room. Bed quite small and springs squeaked Dark room. Wi fi-had to enter username and password provided every time to log.

Review 88:Position

Review 89:The staff were great. Excellent location. Good breakfast! Amazing view of the valley. I loved it. Highly recommended!

Review 90:nothing.

Review 91:staff very attentive and accommodating.

Review 92:Everything. An amazing surprise, the bathroom in particular! I. Have already started to tell my friends about it.

Review 93:Dark rooms and frustrating wifi.

Review 94:Friendly helpful staff. Nothing was a problem Great Location. We loved it and would recommend highly.

Review 95:The very indifferent attitude of the lady (who I presume was the manageress of the hotel) on our arrival and in the two days we stayed at The Italia. We have stayed many times in Cortona and found it difficult to reconcile the cool reception in this hotel to our previous experiences. The room was dark and claustrophobic with one small window. Based on our previous experience (we have stayed in several hotels in this area over the years) we were very disappointed. The description of the room we booked bore no resemblance to the reality.

Review 96:The location and the view from the breakfast room.

Review 97:Excellent friendly and helpful staff! The location is prime for all shopping, eating and sightseeing activities. The rustic design of the hotel adds to the ambiance of Cortona. This hotel should have a 4 star rating!!!

Review 98:The location was perfect, the staff friendly and very helpful and the rooms spacious and well furnished and very clean. The breakfast choice was very good and the views from the dining room wonderful.

Review 99:Not a thing.

Review 100:The hotel is very charming, the room is very nice and very large! The breakfast I'd great, and the area it's served in is quite lovely. I enjoyed the Tuscany decor, the staff is quite helpful, and the hotel is so close to everything. There is no place else I'd choose to stay in Cortona!

Review 101:THe room was excellent and the location was right in the heart of the old town. Our host Francesco made the trip. He was very helpful and spoke english marvelously well. He made us feel welcome and at home. he breakfast room was above all the other houses and the food was terrific with great coffe. We would stay there again if we ever visited Tuscany again. An all round great experience!

Review 102:Location. To get there you had to drive your car up a very thin steep hill. Then drive back down to park the car a good distance from the hotel and then walk up the steep hill.

Review 103:Staff was helpful.

Review 104:There was limited space to unpack things. My wife and daughter live out of their suitcase so it was fine for them but it would be a problem if everyone wanted to unpack and put things a a drawer. This is not a something that would prevent me from booking again at this hotel as there are way more positives.

Review 105:The hotel is in the heart of Cortona right off the main piazza so a very nice location. The staff were kind and helpful and spoke excellent English. The hotel is in an old building but completely upgraded with a modern bathroom. The breakfast was good with a fantastic view of the valley below, a great way to start the day. The triple room we had was spacious and with high ceilings and a very comfortable feel with a window on to the street below. I would stay at the hotel again although it is at the high end of price. This was my second visit with my wife and adult daughter so I wanted a nice place and it met my expectations.

Review 106:We liked everything!

Review 107:The design and location of the Hotel and the 4th floor breakfast room was very nice with a lovely view of the hills of Cortona! Francesco was wonderful, gracious and very helpful!

Review 108:Francesco went above and beyond in assuring our comfort. He booked taxis, recommended restaurants and was always there to answer any questions. The hotel has a rustic charm in a prime location.

Review 109:Stayed 3 nights, first room had window opening onto the dirty courtyard used by smokers. For privacy, shutters had to remain closed. Paid to upgrade for last 2 nights.

Review 110:Upgraded room with view and excellent breakfast in room with panoramic view.

Review 111:Cortona was fantastic. Wonderful alleys to explore, friendly people, perfect Tuscan village. Hotel Italia perfectly located, extremely comfortable, modern bathroom, great furnishings, wonderful breakfast - perfect place to stay.

Review 112:Nothing . . . I'll be back!

Review 113:Everything . . . it was clean, comfortable, well located and thebreakfast alone was worth $15 euros anywhere else. My room had afabulous view and the staff was most helpful in all regards.

Review 114:The room: Small, old, dark, depressing. From our window, we could see the back of a huge air conditioner (max. 1.5 meters far from the window), in a small, dark and dirty patio... The breakfast: Go to the 4th floor, check the breathtaking view in the morning, turn around, and go and have a breakfast somewhere else in the city...

Review 115:The hotel is right in the center of Cortona, so the location is great. That is true, that the street from the parking place is really steep, but, I think if you don't want to climb steep streets you sould not go to Cortona... The stuff was nice and friendly, however sometime is not always easy to distinguish them from the guests :)

The Fine Print
