Reviews for Art Hotel Atelier Sul Mare

Review 1:The facilities are quite simple, but for the price acceptable.

Review 2:We had one of the standard rooms which had still a lot of arty details and a balcony facing the sea. Breakfast was good staff was nice and we got an excellent recommendation for a restaurant.

Review 3:Wonderful location right by the sea - Castel di Tusa is a gem with great views and restaurants. The art rooms in Atelier Sul Mare are spectacular (and the standard rooms, too, looked great) - it's been a truly unique experience staying there. Staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating - besides generous and kind service they also helped us find a lost phone!

Review 4:understand the original idea of no phones and TV. But? You encourage reading books! Don't understand the difference in the media and why no wifi. No wifi was a problem. I could not read my book. The original idea does not reflect today's medium.

Review 5:WOW. Loved the nest room. We had booked a standard room but upgraded. We loved the tour of the art rooms. We loved living in a "different" room. We loved the little town and the lovely bar and restaurant next door. Breakfast in hotel was an experience in the forest. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and we loved hearing about the origins and artist realisations. Wow!

Review 6:If your not into modern art and quietness, the rooms may not appeal to you. They are quite dark and may be scary. It's like sleeping in art, so you have to like it. The village doesn't have much, but if you're looking for quietness, that may be ok.

Review 7:If your into modern arts and quietness, this is the place. Every room is different and may or may not appeal to your senses.. Even the standard rooms are special.. Location is great: right at the seafront Nice breakfast Friendly personnel Tour of the building and rooms

Review 8:The tour of the art rooms was in Italian so did not cater for those not fluent in the language. Would appreciate an I pod dock in the room to play our music

Review 9:The man at reception was very helpful warning us of a party & offering us another room

Review 10:I was enjoying my stay, but the fondazione had organised music in thebar it runs opposite the hotel. The music and the volume were ok untilabout midnight, when both the volume and the bpm were ramped up. Themusic went on until 2am and the noise from the customers until 2.30am.If I had booked into a hotel that had been taken over by a wedding party, I could live with that, but this seemed to be simply about bringing business to the bar. Perhaps I was unlucky in that I had a large single-glazed window, and if I had booked the previous day there would have been no disco, but this is an expensive place to stay and I think a decent night's sleep is the minimum guests should be able to expect. A disco in a bar just a few metres from a hotel? It's a recipe for problems. The fondazione need stop decide what its priorities are: hotel or disco? You can't do both. Just outside Castel di Tusa there's a campsite that has a large sign outside that said 'No discoteca No animazione' (no discotheque, no entertainment). Amen to that. More generally this is a place that seems to be coasting, and generally a bit too pleased with itself - yes the art rooms are great, and the eclectic decor adds to the atmosphere, but the wifi and breakfast were both below average for a hotel in this price bracket.

Review 11:Lovely room with a huge window looking out to sea.

Review 12:Breakfast just okay, bed and linens, not so great, restaurant was closed for the season, wifi only available in the lobby, not in the rooms

Review 13:Gorgeous view, spacious room, lovely balcony, love all the art everywhere, good parking, peaceful and quiet location right on the sea, water only a few steps away

Review 14:great location, small village at the sea the hotel is rather a museum and even though we arrived very late, Paolo took the time to show us all those individual rooms. Paolo is a very nice guy, who makes the additional effort to explain in detail the ideas of the room. food was really nice, staff is overall really nice and helpful. Amazing place, definitely going again there

Review 15:It was just perfect for us.

Review 16:This was the last place we stayed in before travelling to Alford (USA) and we felt disappointed to leave. It's situated in a amazing position nearby a fantastic sea, the staff is extremely hospitable and lovely. If you have a car, secure parking is provided. Just few kms driving to visit the spectacular park of sculptures Fiumara di Arte. We enjoyed the suite art room, with two bedroom which was both spacious and artistic. This place is unique. We also appreciated additional touches like refreshments upon arrival and the delicious dishs at the restaurant. If you are looking for a clean, safe and family friendly place to stay, do yourself a favour and book this wonderful museum-hotel.

Review 17:We have stayed in many lovely hotels around the world but Atelier sul Mare is the best ever. Our art room had a wonderful private terrace with a magnific sea view. Taking breakfast on a terrace overlooking the sea is not to be forgotten. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Review 18:We could not have made a better choice. The location is excellent, the hotel unique. The personnel at the reception take the fusto re service to a high level. Bookshop elegant, art rooms fantastic. A memory to' be remembered very long.

Review 19:Our short time available.

Review 20:This was a short vacation that we had decided to spend in Sicily after our marriage. The hotel was a very surprise, the staff and service are second to none and the location is gorgeous. Everyone was more than welcoming and kind, taking any request and delivering outstanding service. We would like to thank everyone for all their attentiveness! Breakfast is really REALLY yummy, my favourites are definitely the "torta di Signora Maria". I would definitely recommend going for the breakfast, as the options are very varied and delicious every time. The room was huge, very emotional. We're so sorry we didn't have time to have a proper Hammam service. Other guests were enthusiastic of it. All in all a wonderful experience, it did make our stay unforgettable. We will surely come back.

Review 21:No wifi, only in hall, not the most beutifull town, if not apartaments, then rooms are quite overpriced.

Review 22:Great stuff, by the sea, center of town, great breakfast on sea side.

Review 23:Breakfast was just acceptable

Review 24:Fascinating art in the rooms and in thecommon areas. Hotel is set on a nice pebble beach.

Review 25:Die Bucht ist etwas abgelegen

Review 26:Eccentric and totally unusual art staying throughout. Very unique and fun.

Review 27:Thé breakfast

Review 28:The originals rooms

Review 29:Amazing rooms, well worth going on the tour to see which one to stay in

Review 30:Fantastic location and stay.

Review 31:Internet didn't work in the room; poor connection in lobby.

Review 32:Breakfast excelent; working staff very friendly.

Review 33:The Art, the location, the unique Art-rooms, the love that's put in this place. One of a kind. Don't mis it!

Review 34:The guided tour was really interesting, rooms are amazing.

Review 35:When staying there you should definitely go for one of the rooms designed by an artist!

Review 36:location and sea view, good breakfast

Review 37:A bit too much hyperbole about the Art.

Review 38:Delightful staff with individual personalities & a hotel to match. Absolutely lovely location.

Review 39:the restaurant service was a bit slow

Review 40:the location the beach the design of the hotel very friendly staff

Review 41:The rooms are installation art pieces, thoughtful and great fun!

Review 42:Breakfast on the beachfront terrace - sensational. A beautiful quiet location on the beachfront. The rooms are wild with all the artwork, sculptures and pottery

Review 43:Conceptual art does not translate well to a comfortable B & B. The room did not have lights, furniture (besides a bed),TV, telephone, bottled water, sheets. The town was picturesque but was too small to offer a variety of restaurants or a grocery store.

Review 44:The views of the sea were wonderful, and the concept was great. The rooms were interesting as art.

Review 45:We had a great staying in this hotel, unique and attractive. The art rooms are amazing. Good relax at the Gallery art café, amazing service and delicious canapés which accompanied our drinks. The hotel café bar is located few steps from the hotel's entrance. Also the staff were extremely polite, efficient and they do make sure your experience with them is something to remember. The place is not expensive (10 euros for a spritz drink). Also the drinks are accompanied but many canapés which are not charged and are delicious. Highly recommended for those who want a relaxing evening drink on a very romantic atmosphere.

Review 46:I loved the room we stayed in overlooking the sea and so artistic. It made me feel like I had been transported and incorporated into a work of art. What a pleasure. We also loved the breakfast food and the dining area.

Review 47:the art hotel is genius. was a highlight of our trip. the staff was delightful, and went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable. the sculpture garden was great too!

Review 48:Beach is pebbly and access can be difficult. Strongly recommend visitors take beach shoes that can also be used in the water. This is not a busy beach so there is no problem for swimmers using shoes and the water is mainly calm. Out of season the bus service seems to be non-existent which is a pity because there is a very good train service just minutes from the hotel.

Review 49:Authentic Sicilian seaside village. Unique experience and especially suited to art lovers. Each room is different and the management are keen that you enjoy the experience offering a choice of rooms. The breakfast is excellent - no cheap breakfast coffee here! There is plenty of choice. The restaurant looked lovely however our party choose to eat at the local and surrounding area restaurants The service is excellent but discreet. Nice relaxed atmosphere and no rushing clients out of their rooms when checking out. Free beach chairs and umbrellas provided. Great place to stay!

Review 50:We did not like the absence of wifi and TV. The breakfast was also with quite limited choice. Bathrooms were extremely small.

Review 51:Staff was really friendly. The rooms were exciting, but for couple days the most. For longer stay - too dominating interior.

Review 52:I had a room type "Standard Double Room" and it is none fromthose on pictures. It is extremely small, with dark green walls, onetiny window. The pretentious design intended to mask old and simplefurnitutre. No tv, or internet. The idea to have a portrait of somechinese leader (Mao Dze Dun?) is good for museum but somehow srange infront of the bed, especially when it is the only huge thing in the room.Basically to spent a night - it's ok (for a hippie espec) but forthat poor level of cofort the room is definetly overpriced.

Review 53:Very calm and scenic location, nice beach nearby, comfortabaleoutdoor restaurant with excellent cuisine, sufficient breakfast andreasonable prices.

Review 54:Artistic design in bedroom and bathroom - no where to put clothes apart from hanging in passage, bathroom dark like a grotto - shower sprayed water over bathroom, toilet enclosed in a metal casing difficult to remove No sitting space, wifi only available in the lobby with 4 chairs

Review 55:situation and restaurant on the beach

Review 56:Bring rubber shoes for swimming. Rocks are very slippery and hard on your feet.

Review 57:Standard nice and large room looking at the water. Right in front of the beach.

Review 58:This was very nice experience. Something that happens not everyday :) I would like to come back one day for sure. Thank You for sharing with us Your art so closely.

Review 59:The staff was very rude and unfriendly to us. Maybe they just had a bad day or are just not very open/hearty people, but we felt very unwelcome even though we are a young, sophisticated and very "social" couple. During our stay on Sicily, we travelled along the coast and spent each night in a different hotel - we experienced the Sicilian people to be great, charming hosts, but unfortunately that wasn't the case here. There was no TV in the room and the bathroom-floor felt sticky. We would not return to this hotel.

Review 60:In general, I love creative hotel solutions and the idea of different artsy rooms designed by different designers. The location is very close to the sea.

Review 61:The location is purely for relaxation. Nothing is going on, even restaurants and bars are only 2.

Review 62:Each room is different and desiged by various artists, which gives a special feeling. Great view at breakfast in the morning.

Review 63:The room was a little overwhelming, it would have been nicer if there was less colour and less paintings. The town itself is a little sleepy, but we enjoyed the tranquility compared to Palermo etc. There is no option for eating in the town apart from one sleepy restaurant on the sea front who overcharged us. The reception staff where a little sleepy and did'nt welcome us or improve the quality of our stay in any way.

Review 64:The (standard) room was large and comfortable with lovely large shuttered windows with an uninterrupted view of the sea. The beach terrace restaurant was lovely for breakfast, and the food itself was pleasant. The hotel exterior has a nice art-deco look.

Review 65:The great artwork and fantastic ideas make this hotel something absolutely unique. This was the second year that we spent a few days here and we were just as fasinated as the first time. If you get the chance take a tour of the art rooms. Nice quiet location at the end of a pebbly bay.

Review 66:We enjoyed our stay, this was one of the good experience we ever had. This was our first time to stay in Sicily. We picked this hotel from an art catalog and absolutely made a wonderful choice. The staff was nice and time with calls. We were able to check in 3 hours early which allowed us to leave our stuff the room while we went to the beach. The restaurant was amazing, delicious food and perfect atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Review 67:It's a very good hotel. The food was delicious. We had a spacious room, cleaned every day. Especially the personnel was very kind and always willing to help. The hotel was close to the beach. We just had to cross the street. And on the beach you can have a great relax. Hotel is closer to many little town, very nice and full of culture and history and reachable within few minutes driving. The receptionist at the counter speaks english and they are very friendly and approachable. The restaurant is few meters from the beach, the food is excellent and staff friendly and courteous.

Review 68:We didn't like the complete absence of the creature comforts one expects in a modern hotel. There is a sense of "this is how we are"! BUT, they are charming and we would stay again! In common with most Italians, producing a cup of hot coffee is a step too far.

Review 69:Lovely people, very obliging and cheerfully helpful. The hotel should have better facilities: bar? Coffee shop? Armchairs? But it IS an art hotel, slightly off the wall and meant to be so. The art rooms are spectacular and memorable. We should know, because we had three rooms over three nights. The restaurant is sublimely beautiful. The food seemed expensive but OK, if not memorable.

Review 70:When we asked for advice on train times departing tusa It aggrivated théman who was at thé front desk. Hé didnt want to help but we had topersist to find an answer ourselves on internet. Thé service of info ontransport to and from thé hôtel should be helpful and easy tocommunicate.

Review 71:Thé proximité to thé sea ,train, and village and aéroport . Théunique design touch with mix of old Italia villa with new worlddesign.Mosaic tiles and high ceilings.Balcony with stunning view.Option to eat at hôtel restaurant which I loved thé outdoor eating.Option to make art and havé à massage. Créative connectionssupporting thé artistique community and stories of people. .Promotingindépendant créative imagination. Thé village is predominantlyitalians, whether tourist or local.

Review 72:The art format distracts attention (but pleasantly) from the pretty basic nature of the hotel.

Review 73:Quirky art rooms, fun for a short stay. Great location right on the beach. Very pleasant open-air seafront restaurant.

Review 74:Nothing!

Review 75:Highly original yet worked well, provided a pleasant stay and an excellent breakfast.

Review 76:Not comfortable Best to visit and not actually stay there (sorry...)

Review 77:Location Concept (art for all) Staff Beach Breakfast

Review 78:A real hidden gem - the most interesting hotel I've ever stayed in. Very welcoming, and a unique experience.

Review 79:Dark poorly lit rooms. Unique but not comfortable.

Review 80:Location and breakfast on the beach were great.
