Reviews for The Grove Lodge Guesthouse & Country Club

Review 1:Great location and well within walking distance to the town. Lovely food and very friendly and informative owner! Great tip to visit the Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort on our way back to Dublin.

Review 2:Very good choice on menu for breakfast. Very pleasant breakfast room overlooking the river. Very helpful in promptly sending on the camera attachment my husband had left behind

Review 3:There was nothing I didn't like about my stay here.

Review 4:Great location and well within walking distance to the town. Extremely comfortable self-contained room in a beautiful Guesthouse. Lovely food and very friendly and informative owner!

Review 5:Nothing

Review 6:This is one of our favourite hotels in Europe. It's a fancy yet traditional house very stylish and located in the country side of the city. The rooms face the river and have a big curved window which let you enjoy the nature. The host is superb. Great and incredibly rich breakfast.

Review 7:Excellent rural location next to river and only a short walk into town. Accommodation/facilities really good and the breakfast the best we have had anywhere! Friendly and helpful hosts.

Review 8:It was all perfect!

Review 9:We stayed three nights in the grove lodge. It was so beautiful there! The service was awesome and the people so nice! Never have seen before in any land such a kindness like in Ireland:) Thanks a lot for all! We will come again!

Review 10:Close to the road but that suited us as really easy to get anywhere.

Review 11:This is the best b&bs I have stayed in in Ireland . Spotless, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Very spacious rooms. Owners show a great interest in their clients and offer a true hospitality. Will stay here again.

Review 12:Poor wifi signal strength in room, however they say it is only available in public areas anyway.

Review 13:Bar and restaurant onsite, ample parking, helpful staff and clean rooms

Review 14:A little too far from the centre - but that should not stop you from choosing this place.

Review 15:The best breakfast we had during our trip around Ireland. Lovely and very friendly hosts and a beautiful house.

Review 16:The room itself could use a little bit of updating. It is generally very comfortable, but the odd things needs replacing (broken lamps, etc.) or updating to make things a perfect home away from home.

Review 17:Delia is a wonderful host and the guesthouse is welcoming and comfortable. We had a fantastic time at Grove. The location was perfect for us, out of the busyness of Killarney, but near to all that we wanted to see and do.

Review 18:nothing to say

Review 19:Very friendly, clean and cosy. Homemade breakfast was awesome. Arrived at night and even so it was so easy to find, and we had someone waiting for us.

Review 20:The bed wasn't very comfortable. The wifi was very flakey. The curtain over the bath was horrible-stuck to you when showering. Choose a room away from the road as quite noisy.

Review 21:Nice room and very clean. Very pleasant surroundings. Price reasonable.

Review 22:a short stretch of the road to the village doesn't have a footpath but the owner was good enough to give me a small torch for safety if I was arriving home late

Review 23:very quiet, clean, comfortable and friendly. good freshly cooked breakfast. very welcoming. nice view over the rive. usually stay in hotels when travelling with work but this reminded me how guesthouses can be a better option!

Review 24:I missed only a good blind on the window, as the morning sun woke me up early.

Review 25:Excellent location, beautiful house, beside the main road, but still very quiet, beautiful view, very clean etc etc

Review 26:Very friendly reception, and enormously helpful in giving suggestions as to what to see and do. We were extremely satisfied with our stay, and we hope to return some day.

Review 27:The location is great and romantic, just in front of the river. Very calm and peacefull. Breakfast is very good...I felt in love for the handmade pancakes!

Review 28:location,room and breafkast and excellent knowledge of local amenities. Cpould not do enough for us including rearranging golf tee-times which was invaluable.

Review 29:Delia and the team at Grove Lodge were excellent. Friendliness pokes out the door from the minute you arrive. We used it as a base to climb Carantuohill, Delia went above and beyond making us sambos for our day on the mountain. Location was supurb by the river only 5 minutes walk to town. Rooms were clean and made up daily. I will without a doubt be back to stay at Grove lodge and would recommend it to all think of staying in the area.

Review 30:Delia and Fergus were wonderful hosts. They had great tips for dinner places and what to see around the area. It was only a short walk in to town. Lovely rooms and the breakfast spread was amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Review 31:No wifi reception in our room. But free wifi elsewhere in the building.

Review 32:Beautiful location, lovely rooms, very comfortable beds. The family made us feel very at home. This place is like a 4 star hotel. Lovely all round.

Review 33:Nothing to dislike - too strong a word, but... Grove Lodge is only a guest house/B&B, whereas the Booking.com description, and the photos, make it sound like a 'Country Club'. So, disappointing to find there was nothing in-house apart from breakfast, though that did compensate, and it's only a five minute drive to the town and some good restaurants.

Review 34:Breakfasts were amazing. More fresh fruit, yoghurt and assorted breads and scones than I have ever seen in a hotel or B&B. Hosts welcoming, helpful and friendly. Lovely setting.

Review 35:No water the day we were to leave, of not fault of the owners butstill a little disappointing.

Review 36:Owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Gave great opinions about where to go and what to see.... Much appreciated

Review 37:Wifi could be better. Although there was no breakfast included in price booked, being old man forgot, and when asked what time I'd prefer breakfast, I willing said 0800. Breakfast was exceptional, but added 20 euro (two people) daily to bill. No regrets.

Review 38:The location perfect for southwest travel. Located right on the river for evening meal and drinks. Proximity to town and the host instinct for type information desired.

Review 39:The faucet didn't work properly. We had a dead bumblebee in our room.

Review 40:The view was beautiful. Very nice owners who had great tips for our Journey and found my lost necklace. Would stay there again :-)

Review 41:A friendly welcome followed by a good nights sleep and an excellent breakfast. The best black pudding we tasted in Ireland. Oh! And the location on the river is lovely.

Review 42:We are a Gay Male couple who sometimes have some difficulty's staying at accommodations.... Twin beds etc... No such issues here - Extremely friendly, clean, good bathroom, nice location, great breakfast, well priced...

Review 43:No water due to break somewhere in the morning and the accommodation was cold on checking in and we did not heat up until late, and credit card terminal was not working in the morning

Review 44:Breakfast

Review 45:The best hotel I have been so far. Delia and Fergus made me feel at home at Grove Lodge. My stay turned out to be 4 weeks instead of 2, but that was no problem at all. Breakfast offers a very good start of the day, nothing is too much. One should really try the scrambled eggs and the pancakes.River is some 10m from the hotel and I can only imagine how lovely it will be in the summer. Rating 10 is more than deserved!

Review 46:Nothing not to like about this place.

Review 47:Quiet, comfortable, well appointed, right on the river, just a short walk or drive to town. The owner is very nice and helpful, the breakfast is fast and delicious. The location is perfect for driving the ring of kerry, heading up to Dingle or any of the other west coast must sees. I would stay here again without a second thought.

Review 48:Nothing to say !

Review 49:We went to the Grove Lodge for one night. Everything was perfect : the room was preheated before our arrival, good wifi service and comfortable bed. succulent breakfast !!! 10/10 ! Thank you to the tenants for making my stay amazing :)

Review 50:Fantastic breakfast, fruit, yogurt, fruit juice, cereals, and an Irish breakfast. Beautiful location, a little hard to find, but you just need to look for the sign, great owner.

Review 51:Cannot recall anything I disliked on my 7 day stay.

Review 52:great location, excellent happy friendly, host very helpful and has great knowledge of local people and amenities, fantastic breakfast, very quite and peaceful place to stay if you are visiting the local town, just 10 mins walk or the ring of Kerry. I would definitely recommend the grove guest house if you visit this location.

Review 53:Wifi wouldnt work for more than 15 minutes upstairs or in the lounge. We were trying to prebook accomodation and hopeless trying to do it from there. They gave us a different internet site with a different password in the morning. Room 3 exceptionally noisy and right against road. Also were kept awake until after midnight and woken at 6 my what the owner said was some sort of "water heater" and outside Room 3. Every time someone turned a tap or shower on there was a loud turbine sounding rumble. It stopped when everyone went to bed. Tried to ring reception 4 times with no answer about noise and wifi and owner informed me they are a B&B and offer no afterhours service. Would hate to have an emergency and never found this attitude in any other B&B we stayed in on our 3 week visit. Couldnt find anyone around in the evening. Owner apologised for noise and said no one had complained about it before. Maybe they need to supply a bottle of whiskey with the room to block out the noise. You could hear it downstairs as well. Never heard anything like it before and my husband it a builder said it should be outside. No insulation whatsoever. Footpath started about 100m from lodge and fast traffic so would have to be careful walking first 100m. Town close by. Dont go to the Thai restaurant in town if you are in a hurry. The food was fine but waited an hour between courses. Unlike NZ you pay a redicious amount for rice with your curry which is usually free of charge.

Review 54:Loved the house, the river, the town. Breaksfast was average. My husband decided on the salmon but it was very small serving. The room was spacious and the bathroom clean.

Review 55:Thin walls and floors. I could hear people talking in the room below me and could hear people walking up and down the stairs at night, but I still got a good rest as most people quieted down by 10 or so.

Review 56:Staff was really friendly and helpful. I felt that my comfort was their priority. The decor of the place was warm and friendly and everything was very tidy and clean.

Review 57:Just a noise from the water pump going on and off, but that was all, didn't worry us too much.

Review 58:Fantastic place to stay, lovely surroundings. Rooms are a great size, as well as the bathroom. We had a lovely view out overlooking the lake from our room. The best breakfast we have had while in Ireland, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the smoked salmon was delicious. Fantastic choice of options to choose from with cheeses, meats, breads and sweet pastries. Also lovely look out from the breakfast area as well. Hosts were lovely, would recommend to all.

Review 59:The breakfasts were great. The gardens were beautifully manicured. The Hosts provided wonderful directions and suggestions for the best places to visit.

Review 60:There is nothing to dislike.

Review 61:Everything about The Grove Lodge Guesthouse is excellent. Fabulous owners who really care for, and take an interest in, their guests. Location is perfect for exploring the western peninsulas and the Killarney National Park. We found it much nicer to stay here than in Killarney. Also lovely modern rooms and good value for money.

Review 62:Our host Delia was so accomadating and nothing was a bother. The room was spotless, comfortable and the house hsd a bright feel to it. Delia's breakfast was gourmet and plentiful.

Review 63:Great location, lovely staff, beautiful room and tasty breakfast. set in lovely grounds next to the river. will certainly stay again and would recommend in a heartbeat

Review 64:The staff was welcoming, the staff friendly, and the room was very clean. The breakfast gave many choices, was cooked well, and presented in a visually attractive manner. Excellent value and the property was next to a river so it was worth appreciating too.

Review 65:There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 66:Location: A beautiful situation on the river. Easy to walk to the village for dinner. Very nice bedroom on the ground floor with an excellent breakfast the next morning. Great hospitality from the owners.
