Reviews for Hotel Corte Altavilla
Review 1:The light on the smoke detector blinked all night long, and as it was directly over the bed, it was as if someone were taking a picture of me all night. If you don't open your eyes you won't notice it, but unfortunately, i did.....
Review 2:This is a lovely hotel right across from the Duomo in the lovely city of Conversano. The rooms are nicely furnished, and there is also an onsite spa which is available to guests at an additional charge.
Review 3:Beautiful B&B in the historic district. Easy to get to by car to unload luggage and free parking a three minute walk away. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 4:Lacked sound proofing but I expected this due to the nature of the building. You cannot get a car to the entrance but it was only a very short and pleasant walk.
Review 5:Great setting and staff were pleasant and helpful.
Review 6:Restaurant options on property were very limited. Wasn't impressed by the other 2 restaurants we found nearby either. Parking was kind of an hassle.
Review 7:My kids loved the hot tub. I loved the complimentary tea and the general friendliness of the staff.
Review 8:The bed we had could have used a nice foam top to improve it. Other things some guests may not like we're not important to us, so they did not detract from our stay: basic Italian breakfast, parking, steps to some rooms (what can one expect in a historic building in the center of town like this?) Overall a good stay.
Review 9:Lovely old building with a variety of unique rooms. Spacious room, kind staff at check-in and breakfast, rustic elegance and great value. Just steps away from the castle and main piazza. Easy enough to find from directions on their website.
Review 10:The big steps to take with luggage it took long to get new batteries in the tv controller >2,5days no TV the young people into the courts (hotel cant help this but it is the way the hotel is situated)
Review 11:The attitude of the people of the hotel the situation of the hotel The rooms the cleaness of the rooms
Review 12:Quaint establishment but very well appointed. Very kind and helpful staff...
Review 13:Mosquito bites
Review 14:Parking arrangements for the car BUT far outweighed by the rest of the experience.
Review 15:Everything! The beauty of the architecture, the friendliness of the staff. The closeness of places to eat and drink.
Review 16:However, we could not open the windows because the windows for the kitchen were towering outside our room. The suite has a kitchenette but no dishes, cutlery cups or pots unless you pay an additional fee. If the kitchen were used the hotel added 15 euros to the price automatically. I would suggest the cost for the kitchen and it's cleaning be wrapped into the room price . The hotel offers free parking in a property across town but they did efficiently organize transportation to and from.
Review 17:Modern contemporary look was nice that gave the room a nice ambiance
Review 18:The bedroom gave on to a small back street which was very noisy, no cars but youths, until early hours, we complained to the management, they are aware of this but can't do anything as the alley does not belong to them. Make sure that you have a room on the side overlooking the church.
Review 19:The location of the Hotel is very nice in the center of Conversano which is a perfect place to be if yu want to discover the area. Francesca at the reception was very Helpful and the staff very friendly
Review 20:The room was rather characterless and functional and did not tempt us to linger.
Review 21:Location is perfect. The heritage building it is in magnifies the experience.
Review 22:Need more infomation on location and parking before you arrive Noise issue in second floor room with noise of tables being moved in the third floor restaurant Noisiest issue in first floor room which looks out over an alley where the local teenagers sit late at night making some unwelcome noise when trying to sleep after midnight and our room 111 is next to the lift shaft where noise is heard whenever the lift operates
Review 23:Great location Clean comfortable rooms Staff friendly and helpful
Review 24:Parking was in a garage forecourt a good 5 minute walk away owing to the parking restrictions in the historical centre. It is possible to bring the car closer to load/unload however. Breakfast was average. We were kept awake from about 4 am by other guests arriving after being at a wedding and who spent 3 hours thumping up & down the stairs outside our room and across the floor of the room above. We had a suite but the bathroom was tiny and the sitting area had in it a kitchen unit, a table and chairs, two armchairs and an occasional table, all in a space about 3m x 4m. All rather cramped. We were hoping that the room would be like the (one and only) room in the photographs but it was nothing like this.
Review 25:Location, friendly staff, very quaint historical building in a pleasant historical centre. Conversano is definitely worth a visit.
Review 26:the bathroom needs to be redone , it was a bit old no parking in the hotel
Review 27:the price (with the Booking offer of course), the bedroom, the staff was very friendly and helping, the location in the old town
Review 28:Had a lovely, spacious room, with a very comfortable bed. The breakfastwas fine with croissants, cereals, yoghurt, juice, fresh fruit, cheese, ham and hard boiled eggs. It is a treat to be staying in a beautifulauthentic Italian palace, with its marble steps and cool clean decor.
Review 29:Friendly, obliging staff. Great location in old town. Close to sights, shops, restaurants. free parking close by and Conversano is ideal base for Puglia. Has a gourmet restaurant and spa.
Review 30:Nothing. It was perfect.
Review 31:I loved being in Conversano. It was the perfect base to visit other towns in Puglia, mainly Alberobello, Locorotondo, Polignano a Mare, Lecce & Gallipoli. The hotel is beautiful, very quaint and in a lovely and quiet part of town.Lavish breakfast with lots of delicious items ranging from nutella to local delicacies.
Review 32:Absolute opposite of international corporate hotels - this hotel haswinding corridors, stairs leading to roof terraces, views down ontocourtyards, personal service, intimate feel, beautiful simple design, cool and refreshing.
Review 33:Difficult to reach by car. Carrying your luggage to the 2nd floor when 6 months pregnant could have been taken care of by the presonnel though...
Review 34:Location and breakfast very nice!
Review 35:The hotel is just next to the castle and right in front of thecathedral. However, if you are going with the gps, it lead you throughso many tiny narrow roads and your car can easily get stuck in one ofthe corners of those tiny roads (And I'm talking about small city cars).Basically, unless you have the best gps with you, you will still not beable to find the hotel even if you are in front of it as it just showsthe crowded neighborhood with tiny roads. My iPad failed for the firsttime finding this hotel accurately. The best is to print out the hotel map, and align it with your GPS as you go. So, you will not miss it.
Review 36:The attached spa is excellent and it's cozy and relaxing!
Review 37:The web site is misleading with respect to what was expected in eachroom. This was a special birthday treat and I booked a Junior Suiteexpecting the full facility that was being promoted such as a jacuzzibath and outside terrace. We were very disapponted with the roomsoffered since our expectations were much higher based on the web-sitedescription. It also made a big point about the roof terrace from therestauarant. However, this was a small area with a high wall and litttleor no views. We would have liked to return to the hotel and have a drinkon the terrace after a day of sight-seeing as we have done on so manyother similar hotels, but we could not do this and did not want to dothis at this hotel. We would be hesitant in recommending the hotel toothers based on the limited facilities offered for the price,
Review 38:The hotel is very romantic with the rooms arranged within an historicbuilding. The breakfast room is is bright and sunny.....nice to havewith your morning coffee, and the food and service for breakfast wasjust right. (Although it is also the evening dining room we did not havedinner there). The staff were very helpful with our queries and went outof their way to help us organise transport for a day trip that we tookon Sunday. (Is there no public transport in Italy on a Sunday?!)
Review 39:Great hotel, very nice staff and wonderful historical city.
