Reviews for Zuni Hotel

Review 1:Fantastic stay at Zuni's hotel! We were a group of girls celebrating joint birthdays. The staff were very attentive and helpful. They couldn't have done more for us. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night and the food was fantastic, and I would highly recommend this restaurant. Our overall stay was great. Will definitely be back!

Review 2:Had to ring reception twice to lift the barrier for us to get in.Staff could have been bit more helpful and the breakfast wasn't that good.

Review 3:It was very easy to get to great location close to the town restaurants and pubs.

Review 4:Stayed for the weekend for my husbands 40th birthday. Excellent service from the staff, great food, great location, very comfortable place to stay. Hopefully we'll get to visit again soon

Review 5:The staff was very friendly and helpful, location was ideal, good value for money. Even though there are 2 very well known larger hotels nearby I would happily return to the Zuni Hotel.

Review 6:Had to move from first room as bathroom awful. Second room had blocked shower outlet, broken plug point and dirty carpet. Poor noise insulation

Review 7:We did get a small refund when we mentioned our concerns

Review 8:Did not touch breakfast full Irish sausages burnt on one side rashers not cooked on one side fried egg had dry yok mushrooms were swimming in grease. It was the second worst breakfast I have ever had

Review 9:Clean white bedlinen.Comfortable bed .Nice staff.

Review 10:Our room was small ,but very compact, and very clean ,staff were very friendly,we had a quick lunch in cafe downstairs ,which was very tasty. The breakfast was nice ,but i did not see any cereal or fresh fruit ,we just had a full Irish ,i was very disappointed that there was not any wholemeal bread available, overall we loved it ,and would definitely stay here again.

Review 11:Rooms a little smelly and musty but Windows cannot be opened and closed easily so one has to choose up or downd stick with it. No closing them for a shower then reopening unless you want the staff popping up and down. Asked oil or talcum be put on , but this seemed to be ignored. Best covers quite stiff so cavities around one where the damp cold air penerates. They seem not to have softer blanket or duvets. So not for real winter, unless one sleeps windows closed and heating up. Bathroom no place to put toiletries so a bit cramped even for one.

Review 12:convenient location with car park and its own good restaurant below. Rooms simple but pleasant with mirrored lamp and table top if a bit spartan on the empty walls.

Review 13:We thought we were going to a hotel. It's a townhouse. There was discarded underwear in a pot outside the side door. It looked like it had been there for a little while.

Review 14:Central location.

Review 15:Our room had been previously broken into and the lock had been replaced, but wasn't very secure. We slept with a chair up against the door. Also, there was a panel by the room door, not sure what it did, but it had been on fire at some point and was a melted heap on the wall. If you drive, the on location parking is great, but you have to go into the hotel and ask them to open the gate, odd and inconvenient.

Review 16:The location was great. Right in the heart of the city.

Review 17:Bathroom toilet seat worn and grout around bath in need of repair

Review 18:Resturaunt food excellent, friendly helpful staff both in the breakfast room and restaurant.

Review 19:- small room but ok if you stay for a couple of days - door was so hard to close without making any noise (too tight), and our neighbors were not happy at all

Review 20:- good location - friendly and helpful staff - tasty Irish breakfast - nice rooms

Review 21:The noise from the restaurant extractor fan. Basically, all rooms facing the parking are affected. From 10 till 22.30. Despite the double glazed windows, taking a nap in the afternoon is impossible.

Review 22:The room, the bathroom, the breakfast with good alternatives to the usual Irish one.

Review 23:Zuni ' s is perfectly located in order to explore all the sights of Kilkenny. While the room was small it was spotless and comfortable. The decor is pleasing and modern. It's breakfast that raises the bar as the choice demonstrates a little imagination. Staff are always welcoming. Very happy to recommend and always my first choice.

Review 24:Central location within walking distance from all major attractions. Room very modern, comfortable and well equipped. Excellent breakfast . Service was excellent.

Review 25:Room was recently recarpeted - smelled like new carpet/paint.

Review 26:The staff was very great. The breakfast was plated, not buffet. Very nicely prepared and delicious. Great location in Kilkenny.

Review 27:Room was a very hot with no air conditioning or fan. Was a little noisy when we opened windows to cool down room. Wouldn't put me off returning however.

Review 28:Location was fantastic! Right in the heart of kilkenny with a free car park. Room was nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. Gentleman we met on checking in and out was lovely and made the stay that bit more personable. Breakfast included was in the attached cafe, so table service food cooked fresh to order.

Review 29:The noise of of kitchen exhaust fans were a big negative. When wequestioned this we are advised that they will be shut down by 9.30pmwhereas they we going until 10.30pm. Also, we were surprised to see allthe laundry bags stacked on the steps of the internal staircase, apotential problem in case of a fire.

Review 30:The room was ok and the fact that you could park your car at the rear ofthe hotel in a restricted area was handy. Also a plus is that the roomsare accessible via a lift.

Review 31:We had to go up and down few stairs from the elevator in order to get into our rooms; not easy with the heavy luggage The rooms looked "tired"

Review 32:Big room and bathroom, nice breakfast, friendly staff, free parking

Review 33:The walls were paper thin. I was woken up by someone else's tv. The air con unit next to our window was loud but this was only on during the day so didn't affect sleep

Review 34:Staff were professional and accommodating. Rooms were clean and modern. Really good eggs benedict for breakfast

Review 35:Staff weren't overly helpful or friendly. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Bathroom outdated. Still enjoyed out stay as Kilkenny is a beautiful city.

Review 36:Location was excellent but most hotels in Kilkenny are central.

Review 37:The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, there were no curtains on the window which mea t we had light streaming in from 5am,the windows weren't great so the noise from the street was very loud. Lots of the decor could do with being touched up

Review 38:The hotel is central, modern, clean and the breakfast is excellent

Review 39:Warm welcome from Stephen on reception, lovely relaxed atmosphere, comfortable room and extremely delicious breakfast - can recommend the Fruit option.

Review 40:- The HVAC system produced way too much noise and only shut-off at 10 pm! This thing is terrible and is heard loud and clear in the room even with all windows closed. - Breakfast took almost half an hour before it arrived. Breakfast itself was very good.

Review 41:Good hotel, close to the centre. Nice room, good beds.

Review 42:Really friendly, attentive and competent staff. Very comfortable room, good shower. Very good food in restaurant though wine prices seem high. Breakfast in the cafe was excellent.

Review 43:Very white simple rooms but nice, clean and comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. Great shower. Breakfast was lovely down in the cafe. Right in the centre of Kilkenny and secure parking. Staff very friendly.

Review 44:Breakfast was included, but just okay. Buffet style and they didn't dona great job of refills.

Review 45:Comfortable bed, very friendly staff and wifi was nice. The location was convenient and easy to locate

Review 46:This was our second time to stay here, this time for two nights. We were surprised and delighted to have been given a suite for our stay. It was wonderfully spacious and well furnished. The high ceilings and two long windows also added to the airy feel of the room. Breakfast selection was above the standard fare. One tiny suggestion - the offer of a second cup of coffee would have been nice. Overall, a perfect stay and we'll certainly stay there again.

Review 47:The hotel rooms were absolutely gorgeous! Very stylish and comfortable. Staff were lovely and helpful. Was also very impressed with breakfast the next morning! The French toast was delicious. I will definitely be back for a visit!

Review 48:I did not like the constant droning of the HVAC unit by the window, it did not shut off until at least 10:30 at night. The staff was for the most part friendly but it seemed to me if you don't look a certain way or have X amount of money then you will be treated differently.

Review 49:The bed was extremely comfortable and the location to the towns amenities was perfect.

Review 50:No tv reception bathroom could do with tidying.we were told to come to the entrance in the arch as the main door would be locked after 10pm we arrived at 1am rang the bell as we were told we were still standing their 10 min later after ringing the bell a good few times we got fed up waiting so rang the hotel reception from my mobile for someone to let us in it thank god it wasn't raining....

Review 51:Location is perfect breakfast was lovely

Review 52:bed pillows were a bit too hard. the room was a bit cold during the day - but OK at night

Review 53:the restaurant early bird offer was great value for money and the quality of the food was superb. the location was great very central for the shops and the castle. staff were friendly and helpfull

Review 54:I thought it would be a boutique townhouse/ hotel but it was exactly like a hostel. The bathroom was dirty . The tiles were grotty and the toilet had been left unflushed! The key would not work and we had to traipse up and down the stairs each time. A very very disappointing stay

Review 55:I left my keys in the hotel, I received a phone call within the hour and they posted them on to me. Excellent service, excellent staff, would definitely stop again.

Review 56:Great place to stay in centre of Kilkenny - in the middle of all the shopping & pubs. Staff couldn't have been nicer. Breakfast was served in their bistro with a menu and was cooked to order. Illy coffee went down a treat. Rooms were quiet & had free parking. Will be back but next time we defo want to eat in the restaurant as it looked lovely- we were meeting friends so couldn't try it on this occasion. Many thanks to everyone at Zuni x

Review 57:The room was dissapointing, chipped paint, toothpaste all over the bathroom door, stains/blood on the wall and curtain. The restaurant in the hotel was rated second in the city guide- as a chef i was very excited about this but my starter of red onion tart was burnt on the sides and also luke warm.Main course of pork belly was ok, but the dauphoinise was dry, veggies had been made hours before and the skin on the pork was soggy not crispy as it should be.My partners calamari starter was a laughable 4 calamari rings! I am not one to complain mainly because as a chef it's not nice to hear complaints, but I did decide if I was asked I would speak up.At no stage did anyone ask was my starter ok, my mains ok or at checkout if i enjoyed my stay. This to me seems to show that they do not care how my stay was.

Review 58:Breakfast was included and was excellent. The receptionist was friendly and helpful.

Review 59:Carpet worn and bathroom needs upgrading - bath grouting toilet seat etc

Review 60:Bed very comfortable. Good lighting in room location in centre of town . Full Irish breakfast good - salmon and scrambled eggs good but salmon very skimpy ( 1 slice)

Review 61:Excellent location while visiting Kilkenny. Efficient and friendly staff. Comfortable rooms at a very competitive price. Excellent breakfast. Basically - just a nice place to stay.

Review 62:Rooms were a tiny bit small - but to be expected at the price we paid and it was still very very comfortable. TV was awkward to work

Review 63:Price - it was far better than what we expected for the price we paid Location - couldn't have been any more central Food - the nicest breakfast I've ever had in any hotel

Review 64:Great location walking distance to all sights around town. Off street parking. Very nice made to order breakfast. Great coffee. Nice sized room for short term stay - maybe a little too small for longer term stays. Friendly and helpful front desk and cafe staff.

Review 65:Loved the hotel and their rooms were decorated to a very high standard. Zunis location is perfect for staying in Kilkenny. Great value for money. Will visit again.

Review 66:This is what they call a boutique hotel. It was clean and comfortable but a tad tired. It is in a good location across the street from the castle which is worth seeing.

Review 67:No washer/dryer.

Review 68:Awesome staff. Great parking. Beautiful room and central location, a five minute walk to Kilkenny Castle and most dining and pubs and chemists. Quiet with a quaint ambiance. The dining was fabulous. I can't say enough nice things about this great hotel. Loved the beautiful tow of Kilkenny. Wifi was very good. Note that they do not have a/c but were kind enough to supply a fan and it was adequate for our needs.

Review 69:Bedding was heavy and very warm through the night pillows were hard

Review 70:Location was very central to all amenities in Kilkenny city. Very friendly service Zuni hotel was very clean and presentable. Staff very helpful.

Review 71:There was a very loud fan running all over the day until 10pm in the night. Luckily we had brilliant weather so that we didn't stay in the room for long. The bathroom, particularly the shower cabin needs urgent refurbishing. The shower cabin door was broken and the grout was partially covered by mildew stain and showed good gaps as well.

Review 72:It's a nice hotel located directly in the centre of Kilkenny with free parking. The cleanliness of the room itself was excellent. I wonder how they manage to clean all the mirrors in it so accurately. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 73:Great location in the heart of Kilkenny. Parking is included in a private lot immediately behind the hotel. Good breakfast offered downstairs in the morning. Room was nice… basically what I'd expect for the price paid.

Review 74:We were surprised not to find a kettle and tea things in the room. Whilst it is quite nice in the evening to go down to the cafe for an excellent coffee, some of the party were early wakers, and could have done with a 6am cup of tea in the room. The duvets were rather too thick for the time of year (August). I would have liked the choice of fruit OR cereal before the main breakfast course, but the fruit was treated as a main course, though it is nowhere near as satisfying.

Review 75:Every member of staff was friendly in the extreme. We asked for the Early Bird option as we were watching a play, and were encouraged to eat our delicious dessert on our return from the play, even though it was 11pm by then. The position just around the corner from the Castle can hardly be better. The meals were generous, and well prepared.

Review 76:Looking tired and in places scruffy. Breakfast is served in the cafe and not the restaurant - it is chaotic and very noisy - as the food is cooked in a kitchen off the restaurant this make no sense. Also as much as I like it, it really needs a lounge area to relax in.

Review 77:Friendly staff - great location - excellent food.

Review 78:There was no kettle in the room and there were only 2 hangers. Could do with a small bit of sprucing up but overall a lovely hotel, would recommend to others.

Review 79:The location is fantastic, the breakfast (included) was lovely and the staff were lovely. It's a very nice hotel.

Review 80:Parking was a little awkward to access and was unimpressed with bathroom in terms of shower being old although was spotless didn't take away from rooms

Review 81:Restaurant was outstanding as was service! Reception staff very helpful. Hotel decorated tastefully and modestly. Perfect location a stones throw away from everything

Review 82:The entrance was uncertain through the restaurant or come through the arch.

Review 83:The room was very comfortable, location great for walking within Kilkenny, parking was close at hand.

Review 84:People sat outside the restaurant making lots of noise til the early hours Building work through the night nearby

Review 85:Staff helpfulness Restaurant food Parking Location

Review 86:Nothing negative to say

Review 87:We liked being in the city centre. The staff were particularly nice and we found the hotel to be spotless.
