Reviews for The Malabar House
Review 1:Noisy rooms with not much privacy.. I was next to reception and it was noisy all night. Overpriced rooms. No bar snacks
Review 2:lovely location and village. Food in restaurant was pretty good. Breakfast was fantastic Staff very nice pool was a bit odd
Review 3:The hotel is expensive and considerably overpriced especially as 20.9% tax is "excluded" in the price. At over £200 per night, the hotel does not provide the kind of luxury one would expect for the price. Service at breakfast was poor on our first morning and small swimming pool is located behind the reception desk. Nice hotel but poor value for money.
Review 4:Nice hotel and location. Clean and friendly staff.
Review 5:Unfortunately and as with many hotels in Kerala, there was 'only' a wine and beer lounge and no cocktails can be served. But that is very minor.
Review 6:The staff is fantastic and the size is perfect. I prefer small hotels to large ones, and the fact that it is a heritage hotel makes it even better.
Review 7:Manoj the manager and Reman the sous-chef could not have been more helpful when my girl-friend was coping with stomach upset. Very friendly atmosphere. Hotel within walking distance of main features of Fort Cochin.
Review 8:The property has comfortable spaces for our group of four to chat at night. The chef was amenable to pander to our craving for kerala eats and fish preparations . The manager and his team were inconspicuously ensuring our comfort , from air con to our specifications for room amenities.
Review 9:Bed with soft super mattress and chair in fresco dining caused relapse of old back problems exacerbated at purity until we took off the soft mattress overlay
Review 10:Welcoming and generous approach to guests delightfully peaceful ambience. Great food bed
Review 11:Wanted a quiet stay but room was by restaurant and band played into evening. Hotel did not go far to make feel welcome.
Review 12:The staff were excellent.the pool was great to cool off.
Review 13:The Malabar Suite. The friendly staff and excellent restaurant.
Review 14:Everything was lovely. The hotel is very stylish and the food excellent. All the staff were very courteous and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:This a beautiful heritage hotel with excellent staff, restaurant and wine bar. First class.
Review 17:Excellent service. Quiet and calm. Good for solo traveller. Restaurant great.
Review 18:Great hospitality, extremely comfortable, luxurious without pretension.
Review 19:The swimming pool just behind the reception
Review 20:The colour choosed for my room, the restaurant, the friendly staff and the location.
Review 21:Nothing.
Review 22:Gorgeous place with a wonderful restaurant and very nice staff! The rooms and the public space at the hotel are very nicely designed!
Review 23:No natural light in the room.
Review 24:Fresh flowers in the room and bathroom
Review 25:service with a huge smile
Review 26:Obnoxious tuk-tuk driver-beware.
Review 27:Friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to the sights of Fort Cochin. Good bookstore nearby.
Review 28:Lack of lift for 1 floor can be a deterrent for older travellers
Review 29:Spacious, old style room with a balcony.
Review 30:room could have been cooler
Review 31:relaxed and atmospheric
Review 32:The staff made it an extremely pleasurable stay. the hotel was exquisitely decorated with colour and art.
Review 33:£200 per night was ridiculous. The very small pool is situated just behind the reception desk with only 2 sun loungers and made a perfect bird bath! Tables with bird poo remained uncleaned all afternoon.
Review 34:Small boutique hotel in central Kochi. We were given a free upgrade as I believe the hotel was full, but the room we were given (although large) was in need of refurbishment and it was very dark. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay there and the food was good although the tasting menus were over priced. Sitting in the courtyard with the fairy lights in the trees was lovely and live pipe music was magical. All the staff were delightful.
Review 35:The food was good and the staff very helpful and friendly.it had a nice atmosphere and the beds were comfortable.there was live music during diner.Would recommend it if you are spending a couple of days in Fort Cochin.
Review 36:No breakfast buffet on Sunday morning
Review 37:Comfortable beds, decor, food and staff first class. Excellent wine bar. Good mix of western standards and I ndian culture.
Review 38:Swimming pool too small and a bit cramped in the middle of the court.
Review 39:Location, atmosphere, overall style and decoration. We liked the restaurant and appreciated a lot the live music programme.
Review 40:We were really looking forward to this visit on our Indian tour, the mostexpensive hotel we booked. We chose a suite as there was no alternativefor the available dates. Our suite was just a rather larger than normalroom with an uncomfortable sofa & one armchair & a large terracewhich unfortunately we were unable to use because of an overflow pipewhich poured water over the area from a room above. We reported this toreception immediately but nothing was done. The terrace was also verydirty & pitch dark at night as the lighting did not work. Our friendshad a very much nicer suite with a separate sitting room but hadapparently been "upgraded" to the Malabar Suite even though wewere not told this when we checked in. The staff were charming buttotally disorganised, there was no one in charge,no manager evident. Theswimming pool was far too small & in full view of everybody, beingsituated in the courtyard. We enjoyed our stay in Cochin & managedto escape one night to the Taj hotel which was superb as always. Wewould certainly not recommend the Malabar House. It was far tooexpensive for the facilities offered & very disappointing.
Review 41:Food,once or twice but we stayed 3 nights & menu did not change sogot a bit boring, lunch & dinner the same.
Review 42:Very small pool which could only be used for cooling off, not swimming.
Review 43:Excellent food in restaurant. Relaxing hotel in good position in town.
