Reviews for Kettles Country House Hotel
Review 1:Older male nightshift staff member couldn't have been more friendly & helpful, as a group of friends back from a night out & drunk he was more than happy to give us drinks at the bar & let us out the front at stupid o'clock. Also helped with problem with key cards!
Review 2:-
Review 3:Modern facilities with a lovely flair. Even had ironing equipment in the rooms as well as a walk-in wardrobe. Arrived at 5 am, but no problem. Spacious rooms and great breakfast. Easy to find in a quiet location but still close to Dublin and Airport.
Review 4:Fridge in the room would've been nice, but did well without it. Otherwise no negatives at all.
Review 5:Staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious, clean and very comfy. Great breakfast. Would stay there again if in the area. Modern building.
Review 6:I didn't sleep well - our room was right over one of the function rooms & music was clearly audiable that I could actually shazam each song! Also - the shuttle bus to the airport was not available to us on the Sunday!
Review 7:Food was good. Staff were friendly & helpful. Room was warm & perfectly clean.
Review 8:They advertise free shuttle to and from the airport if you stay and park your car there . But shuttle was not available for us at 5am on a Tuesday nor 1pm on a Sunday . It cost us 42 euro for the 2 taxi journeys so would be cheaper to just use blue car park .
Review 9:Only 15 mins drive from Dublin airport.
Review 10:Flys in our drink, No non slip tiles in the bathroom nor a toilet roll holder, Pillows were rock sold and matress was slopped leading to us not sleeping at all, TV did not work.
Review 11:Was not greeted with a smile. Told them I was a very light sleeper and would like a quiet room was put in a room with an extractor fan outside it seemed to go all night.
Review 12:Room was lovely. It was quite warm which was lovely cause it was cold outside.
Review 13:There was no shuttle service to the airport, apparently it's only "subject to availability". The hotel is not near Swords, it's a good way towards Ashbourne. I booked it because I thought it was convenient for the airport but I had an expensive taxi journey each way. I also has to buy drinking water for my room. Why do hotels charge for drinking water, it should be illegal.
Review 14:Staff were friendly
Review 15:We had explained to the desk clerk that we had to leave at 5:30 am and when we came downstairs to the lobby everything was locked up tight and even there was no one to unlock the door. We finally let ourselves out. In case of fire, very unsafe.
Review 16:Friendly staff and comfortable beds
Review 17:The airport transfers never materialised as our flight was too early one day and then our flight was delayed on the way home. We ended up paying €40 for the transfers ourselves and the manager wasn't even apologetic. I wouldn't even consider staying here again.
Review 18:Locationwise it is a perfect accommodation if you are going by car to the airport! Staff has been very friendly and room was very comfortable, clean ans spacious!
Review 19:Breakfast only started at 8.15 which was very limited for a hotel and we needed to leave early for a flight. We had a room for disabled with a shower curtain that allowed water to spray all over the bathroom. There was only cold water in the basin. This did not compare to the beautiful B&Bs we stayed at in the past 3 days.
Review 20:Conveniently located close to Dublin airport. Receptionist was helpful and friendly. Evening meals were available and there was plenty of parking.
Review 21:We stayed one night and got no sleep atall because a party ended up next door...we did say it next morning but we went since that ..
Review 22:Me and my frends book regerler times...staff very nice..food very nice..happy leaving .
Review 23:Loud music being played late at night in the downstairs lounge wakened my 1 year old and 5 year old. The music continued until around 1am which is not good for a family with young children!!! I could also hear the scrape of the bar stools across the floors during the night which again was very annoying!!!
Review 24:Friendly staff. Room was a good size. Clean.
Review 25:You advertise as airport accommodation, yet you are quite a distance away. The most disappointing aspect was the fact your 'courtesy' transport was not available for either trip to or from the airport. Granted we had the taxi fare reimbursed for the return trip. We booked with you because we felt it would be better accommodation than a hotel at the airport. And it was. We also booked because of the 'courtesy' transport, so were disappointed to find it not waiting for us at the airport. When we phoned we were informed our request had not been put in the book and the driver had just finished. The next day we were told the transport was fully booked so a taxi was provided. For which we were very grateful. NB If you are to use the taxi service. We found the one at the airport did not know were you where, and the journey to you was much longer and 5 euro dearer than the journey to the airport next day. Unless he was taking us for a ride. You could give future guests instructions how to get to you.
Review 26:The staff, especially the receptionist, were very good. Food was really good.
Review 27:The hotel is quite far from everything and buses are very infrequent. No mini bar in room (in case you need to keep anything cool). Shower leaked everywhere.
Review 28:Eddie was fabulous, picking us up from the airport and dropping us later to the village.
Review 29:I could have stayed longer - it was that nice.
Review 30:It was the perfect finish to a great holiday. Clean, quiet, comfortable - good food/drink. The shuttle service to and from the airport was a nice country drive.
Review 31:Remoteness of place
Review 32:The staff were brilliant, even though I was very late arriving due to transport delays etc, I arrived at 02;30 hrs but was still able to check in and the night porter was welcoming and helpful. Same with the day time staff and the airport transfer driver--wonderful
Review 33:The room was very warm (I think it's very common thing in hotel rooms) and when u open the window you could hear the noise from a boiler.
Review 34:Friendly staff, lovely hotel, nice big room, well equipment ed, few extra pillows and towels, good selection of tea coffee, more than enough. We only get to have breakfast (very nice and big portions) in the restaurant but would like to try dinners, definitely will be back and would recommend. We stayed there while visiting tayto Park witch was only 15 minutes drive away.
Review 35:The food served at the bar was of poor quality. Given how isolated the hotel is and how difficult it therefore is to go and eat elsewhere, that is a serious disadvantage. We will not stay again at this hotel for that reason.
Review 36:Friendly staff, comfortable accommodation.
Review 37:The tv was not working, the staff were not friendly what so ever and the location and comfort was poor. The cleaning lady's were both very polite and friendly however the reception staff were uninterested about our stay or that our tv wasn't working and didn't really welcome us or say goodbye. We paid 170 euro for one nighte and id never stay there again based on that experience.
Review 38:We were in Dublin for a concert we checked in and dropped our bags in the room 202 and left. I arrived back late with my exhausted daughter to discover that our bed Base was completely broken causing a huge dip in the centre of the bed. I slept in the single bed instead. We isn't have breakfast and checked out again at 8am. I paid 139 euro for a room in which I only needed a bed and the bed was broken I was extremely disappointed. I reported it the next morning to the receptionist and she apologised saying housekeeping never reported it. I didn't complain when we arrived back as my daughter was so tired and also staff were helping with ambulance that had arrived.also Our room was at top of stairwell and lift and I could hear all guests returning to their rooms.
Review 39:Room was very spacious and spotlessly clean
Review 40:shower water went all over the floor. It was a pity because it's a great shower. I mentioned problem at reception.
Review 41:The friendly atmosphere, good service, free shuttle to the airport.
Review 42:Bad experience started with the smell of the carpet as we approached the room - boiled cabbage. Room looked spartan and unwelcoming Food in restaurant was very poor Kept awake until 2am with sound of disco downstairs In reception at 6am, while checking out, was greeted by two inebriated men still drinking pints of lager Overall, not what I would call a country hotel
Review 43:Did not like anything other than the convenience to the airport
Review 44:If you're depending on public transport to get there it's too inconvenient. I spent € 40 on taxis because the 'free' shuttle didn't run.
Review 45:Felt very comfortable in very spacious room
Review 46:It was a little slow at the serving hatch of the carvery.
Review 47:The Hotel is a good way out, so there is little in the way of noise - peaceful. The rooms are big, and the beds were comfortable. The shower pressure was great.
Review 48:Staff a bit unconcerned and distracted. Not the same care you get in a bed and breakfast, but when you need to be at the airport early, a great place to start from.
Review 49:There were several large parties going on. We could hear the music until late into the night. Not a restful stay. We're told they could shuttle us to airport, then were told our 5:00 am shuttle time was too early... Had to pay for a cab. Not happy.
Review 50:Convenience to airport
Review 51:Wifi is only available in public areas not in the rooms
Review 52:Everything, the lady at Réception was a delight to deal with when we arrived, the bar area is lovely and very comfortable and the food was delicious (great value early bird menu) our room was spotless basic but with everything we needed
Review 53:An alarm went off just after 11am. Don't know if it was a fire alarm or it was to make sure everyone was up to leave but if for the second reason it was very annoying! !
Review 54:Comfortable room and super breakfast
Review 55:The food was very under cooked and the bar staff were very rude left you waiting at the bar for ten mins while looking at you same as floor staff shame as its a nice hotel in nice part of swords as your out of the town and peaceful place but you hear everything out in the hall ways
Review 56:The room was very layed out the views from the windows were very nice night poter was very nice and very helpful
Review 57:First impression. . friendly staff at reception. Loved my room. 1st time to stay there. Really clean and comfortable. Staff couldn't do enough for you. I was part of a small group of business ppl. Close to where we needed to be. Taxi called and didn't have to wait on it. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Family run..speaks volumes. Late breakfast. .and stayed for dinner. Wil be in the locality for business alot and will be recommending this hotel. Great service.
Review 58:Our room above bar was very noisy as there was a function on.
Review 59:The room was large and clean. Bathroom was huge. Big bath (fits 2!), plenty of hot water, towels and toiletries. Extra pillows in room. Reception staff were very friendly.
Review 60:Room service for breakfast was being charged at 10 euro extra per person! So we decide to go downstairs but breakfast was delicious so worthgetting up for .
Review 61:Lovely quiet countryside hotel , food was excellent really yummy andgreat value for money , Rooms are basic with small tvs, but the rest ofthe hotel is really nice . a big warm and cosy atmosphere in the bar andlounge . Music in the lounge in the evening was great for a bit of funand drinks .
Review 62:No complaints at all. We are satisfied about the service
Review 63:The food and the staff are great. Had a quick response especially when it comes to hotel coach. Good job to everyone. Keep up the good work.Congratulations. We enjoyed our overnight stay. Thank you very much . God Bless
Review 64:The heating in the room was far too hot to wake up to which left us feeling dehydrated and the window in the room will only open a little. Also breakfast was not included which I think it should be.
Review 65:The location of the hotel. It's surrounding area. The layout of the hotel. The bedroom was very large and clean and comfortable. The bathroom was amazing and the shower was fantastic.
Review 66:There was a little bit of noise in the adjacent room so I would suggest a better isolation but I think it could be just the guest. SO because of that no much dislike! :)
Review 67:Almost everything!
Review 68:My Partner gave the girl at the desk 100euro , and she left him short of 10euro. He questioned her about but she got confused so he left it. So Long story short we ended up paying 89.00 for the room instead of the correct price of 79.00.
Review 69:Spacious , Quiet room
Review 70:Advertising an airport shuttle then not having one early in the morning when I needed it. Further from airport than indicated- cost 20 euros to get there so I may as well have booked a more expensive hotel closer to the airport. The inconsistant directions when we called 3 times to get there.
Review 71:Friendliness and accommodating staff. Room was satisfactory but did have a musty smell. Restaurant food was satisfactory and server very pleasant.
Review 72:The busses out here have a skeleton schedule on weekends. And the hotel's shuttle to airport does not start until 7am. Not very helpful for the early morning flights back to the United States.
Review 73:Very good value. Friendly staff.
Review 74:The Hotel is at least 6kn from Swords, indeed nearer Ashbourne than Swords and off the main public transport routes, necessitating very expensive taxi rides everywhere. The hotel itself is very well appointed, food acceptable, staff pleasant, but it should really only be marketed, in my opinion, as a 'romantic break' or 'family break' type of hotel.
Review 75:I booked a standard room, and once I've entered my room I noticed that they hadn't cleaned it. They were very sorry about this, with excellent service and upgraded me without any questions to the svit. Happy days
Review 76:room was beautiful very comfortable spotless ,staff were very friendly and accommodating even on a last minute request ,food was excellent both at function and in bar ,breakfast is lovely and plenty to be had would highly recommend
Review 77:Near the airport but in countryside and not too difficult to find, late check-in, my room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The quality of sleep was very good. The staff is very kind and efficient. And the )
Review 78:Carpet was wet in my room, the tv never worked, and I tried on numorous occasions to book the shuttle service and they said they'd look into it but never contacted me back, I inquired again that the shuttles were in for maintenance during my stay, and then when I was there I asked about it and it was conveniently busy until after I had to be at the airport.
Review 79:Bookings that we made were totally messed up by one staff member resulting in extra money been charged the bar was extremely expensive €5.65 for a bottle of Budweiser is very over the top .
Review 80:I liked the location the food was nice staff were nice
Review 81:Location was further from swords then was said on the Web site, guy at the desk half checked me in walked away and the lady that came onto the desk didn't know why I was just standing there he had to come back and say oh ya sorry can you check this lady in, found it very unprofessional
Review 82:Price was best in that area, quite area which was nice for relaxing at night
Review 83:We ate there because Kettles Country House wasn't actually in Swords and we couldn't walk around and pick somewhere else to eat and drink. The food was okay, not great. The beer selections, and yes, Ireland is beginning to find beers other than Guinness and bad lager imports like Budweiser, were limited, but they did have one local microbrew, so that helped.
Review 84:The facility is new, clean, and well laid out. The hotel rooms are in back away from the dining area and party rooms, which helped make them quieter. I liked that there were a lot of local folks there for parties and dinner on a Saturday night. It felt like we were seeing a part of Ireland we didn't see in more touristic areas. The staff worked really hard and were helpful.
Review 85:staff excellent
Review 86:Love kettles
Review 87:Quiet place to stay, close to the airport.
