Reviews for Garda Family House

Review 1:The breakfast is very limited choice. Shower cubicles are small. The balcony has no privacy. Hotel is out of the way with up to an hour on bus from the train station, one way and bus service is extremely poor and limiting with one or even two hours wait for buses. Some staff couldn't speak English at all or very limited so difficult to get information. Only one small shop near the hotel and a couple of restaurants and a boat hire place. Very limited choice of places to eat or activities nearby unless you take bus to Malchicine or Garda or Lazize with long wait for buses. We felt half of the day was wasted just waiting for buses. Hotel has lovely gardens but Sadly, We visited when it was raining so nothing to do around the hotel. There is no kettle or TV in the room.

Review 2:Hotel location is on the lake with beautiful views of the lake. Hotel has nice gardens so in summer it would be nice to eat outdoors and go for walks behind the hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious. Very pleasant staff with very limiting English.

Review 3:it is run by a religious group or convent. Has no TV's and censorship on the free wi fi. Also early ringing of church bells and if your room faces towards the mountains you will have to close your shutters or have the constant chatter of smokers.

Review 4:then location is on Lake Garda. but nor all rooms face this

Review 5:Everything was ok. Friendly staff, good location (the hotel is part of an ecclesial complex situated directly near the lake), great value for the price, free parking, good breakfast. No TV.

Review 6:The bed however (maybe its an Italian thing), was a little on the hard side for my Wife and access to the suites themselves is via an open glass corridor which, by mid-afternoon is more akin to a sweat box - nice.

Review 7:This hotel was the undeniable highlight of our recent ’jaunt’ around Europe. To be honest I thought I had left booking things a little too late so was very happy when I found some availability here on the eastern shore of Lake Garda. I was prepared to spend a little extra, but not a lot, when we decided to stay an extra night more especially regarding a lake view; I was not prepared however for what we actually got ! It took about 20-25 minutes to drive there from the northern access point to the lake at Torbole (on the SR249) and the little villages and inlets can begin to look a bit ‘samey’ as you drive along but then relax and immerse yourself in the sheer beauty of this place. Eventually you arrive at the little village of Castelleto in the province of Brenzone sul Garda, but don’t blink too long or you’ll drive through it and past the hotel, ample parking (through a tree grove) is available through a separate access gate about 150 yards before you actually see the hotel itself – you will drive past it ! After a painless check-in we went to our room, which we soon discovered was one of the suites that look over the front of the hotel and out over the lake. The fully air-conditioned room as well as the hotel itself was clean and pleasing on the eye with the views in all directions simply stunning not just of the lake but also to the village and the ancient church just outside. The windows were also supplemented by electric black-out blinds which is a really nice feature. The suite also had an adjoining study-type area with faultless WiFi available throughout, Skype was achieved with no problems whatsoever. The bathroom contained all the facilities you would expect as well as a bidet.Breakfast is served in a dedicated seating area and the spread is distributed amongst two main seating areas, facilities here are ok but not fantastic, I suppose that is why we were happy to eat elsewhere and enjoy the environment.

Review 8:It was very hot & the a/c was very noisy & didn't cool the room.

Review 9:Location & view was amazing! The deck overlooking the lake was gorgeous.

Review 10:The staff was very welcoming and eager to help us in every request (recommendation for restaurants, nearest beach, possibility to keep the car in the parking even after the check-out). The room was good, totally worths the money we paid for: clean, spacious and with a very nice terrace looking at the lake.

Review 11:we rate 9 our of 10 the only 1 grade would be for more diverse breakfast and an option for larger apartment for 6 persons however we would return when possible!

Review 12:first - location near the Garda lake great view from the apartment clean comfort, parking for large cars very nice team to communicate with!

Review 13:Room very bad it seems like a warehouse and very warm because aircondition very little for this room and room very little for 7 person . Facilities very basic . bed very bad . breakfast is basic.

Review 14:Location near Lake.

Review 15:Shame there was not tea or coffee in the room but there was a mini fridge to keep cold drinks in. Wifi did not work in our room although worked fine in the hotel reception area.

Review 16:Location was wonderful. The room had fantastic views over Lake Garda. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make us comfortable and at home. The town the hotel is situated in was small but lovely with good restaurants and a local market is there on Tuesday mornings.

Review 17:Beds were way too hard, breakfast was the worst we had during one month on the european roads. It seems like this accomodation is in some way hosted together with an elderly home which can sometime give you the feeling that you are also staying in one :)

Review 18:Very spacious room, location just across the road from the sea, and close to places where you can take a bath. Some really nice restaurants close by. Parking was free and felt safe.

Review 19:room quite big but I am not used to such a narrow bed. (my fault)

Review 20:nice, spacy room, good value for money, good parking facilities, just off the main road, rich breakfast

Review 21:we stayed 4 days at the hotel. in the first day the air conditioner did not work. in the second day there wasn't any hot water . there was some school festival at the hotel until 23:00. But the worst is that the sheets were dirty and I found bugs in two beds!!!!

Review 22:The location is good

Review 23:The wi-fi functioned only in the common areas and it wasn't not mentioned in the description. It's something you should bear in mind if staying connected is critical for you. For me this inconvenience was well worth the benefits, though.

Review 24:The location and the atmosphere of the place were great. The food was quite good as well.

Review 25:very hard pillow and bed

Review 26:Friendly staff at the reception, nice and clean room, free wifi, there is school and church as part o the whole area of Garda family house

Review 27:Lassú volt a Wifi hálózat. Lehetne egy TV a szobában.

Review 28:Az elhelyezkedése, a környezete megközelítése kiváló. Jó és biztonságos parkolási lehetőség. A személyzet udvarias, kedves. Tisztaság és rend mindíg mindenütt.

Review 29:Church Bells ringing at 11pm at night and 6am in the morning during the stay. Very noisy breakfast area on day one, moved to side room for day two, smaller and quieter, much better. Ask for this when booking as it will make a difference!

Review 30:Great friendly staff. Parking good.

Review 31:Not a bad experience but be advised that there is no TV in the rooms. Each floor has a common room with a TV in it.

Review 32:Wonderful location in Castelletto di Brenzone about halfway up on the east side of Lake Garda. Central location gives access to many other towns along the lake. Staff was wonderful and family is emphasized. Hotel is literally across the street from the lake and there is plenty of parking. Room was nice and had a large balcony overlooking the lake

Review 33:No complaints.

Review 34:The lakeside view was incredible, the location was great. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The porch was large and private. The grounds were nice.

Review 35:The 6+1 persons "suite" isnt what I would call a suite. Its spacious enough, but we've been lucky as the nights have been below 20°C so that the A/C would not have to work. Otherwise I'd guess it would have been quite a martyrdom... Half of the beds are not worth the name and it was a torment to sleep on - much to soft even for Italian conditions. The breakfast (0800-0930) was the typical Italian non-breakfast style, with the typical awful machine coffee. However, and thats a clear plus: enjoy the real coffee later at the bar inside the hotel...

Review 36:Perfectly located in Brenzone/Castellone; just cross the street and you are at the Lago di Garda "beach". Castellone isnt that busy and crowdy as Malcesine etc but that's not really a con. Its on the east side of the lake; hence early morning sun due to the lower mountains and - even more important - long sunshine in the afternoon for a nice swim in the lake... Bath room is spacious and clean, small fridge (not filled) in the room. The garden of the hotel is quite and nicely located, the view on the lake from the large balcony is very nice. The bar at the hotel is well-sorted and it was always joy to have a quick and hot coffee.

Review 37:The wall was too thin. I can hear other room guest's voice very very well..

Review 38:Everything except one

Review 39:Church bell at 7am, breakfast area was not very spacious

Review 40:View from room, cleanliness, hotel area, room was comfortable

Review 41:Nothing

Review 42:-good view -nice staff -near Garda lake

Review 43:The view was absolutely stunning, we had a really good time. The staff was very nice, we had a wonderful 3 days here.

Review 44:Outdated decor, poor breakfast
