Reviews for Roganstown Hotel & Country Club
Review 1:The staff were all very friendly, helpful and made our stay even more special. We booked it so we could relax they night before our early flight home and we certainly did that!
Review 2:When booking we checked that dinner was served until 10 each evening but on new years eve when we arrived at the bar we were told that they stopped serving at 8 that night. The barman kindly offered to ask the chef who said it was no problem but the manager came along and over ruled both. It was clear to us that the reason for this was because the hotel were trying to sell tickets to their new years eve meal ( ie bar food served in a dining room for double the price) needless to say we ordered a takeaway. Also the bar only facilitates lazer transactions over 10 euro this is a dated policy especially since the advent of contact less payment.
Review 3:Room and leisure centre are excellent
Review 4:Very little to be honest. .. it was nice to get away for a rare night with my wife and young boy whose 2. Staff are all so negative the attitude towards hotel guests was deplorable. .as if we were a problem. ..they closed the main bar to guests and sent us into the tiny club room whilst we waited... we overheard a bar man state to a waiter..make sure you reheat the chicken wings! !! The manager was Sharpe speaking to her hard working floor staff.. the swimming pool was fine however there are a number of tiles missing especially in the baby pool which is not safe .... loose tiles can cause cuts etc... the sand in the bottom of the pool obviously shows the filter is not working ... also the pool was to open at 9 and my wife asked at reception when it was opening and the hotel receptionist sarcastically goes it's only 5 to 9.. we got a call then to state it will open at 10 instead..so we had to explain to a young boy he'd to wait a further hour before he could go swim. So unprofessional for a hotel not having it's services running accordingly to time outlined to guests ..upon checkout the receptionist did not even ask how our stay was ..an abrupt bye! ! as she was engrossed chatting to a member of staff about his night! ! To make matters worse my wife and I came down with gastroenteritis when we arrived home!!safe to say we will not return to a negative environment. . That is how I would sum up the so call hotel
Review 5:Very little to be honest. ..
Review 6:The food was of a Michelin Star standard and blew me away and the service provided reflected same. The room was modern, comfortable and spacious. All on superb grounds.
Review 7:There is absolutely NO light guiding you from the car park to the front door! The light stops when you need it most! - most disconcerting on a dark night! There was one socket in the room not working at all and the others were soooo stiff, it was difficult to get the plugs in and out again!
Review 8:Beautiful big house! Loved all the original features and the "grand" feel to the place. Pool staff were very friendly. Didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that. The big bar area was cosy but maybe just a tad dark?
Review 9:Staff were a bit grumpy. Small example. Had breakfast on 2 mornings. On the first morning there was newspapers in the breakfast room. On the second there wasn't. I asked the waitress if there was any newspapers and she glanced around and said no. A few minutes later a manager type walk by my table and I asked her, she said no but suggested I could check with the receptionist. I walked out to the reception area where there was a stack of newspapers there next to the receptionist who wasn't busy. I didn't comment but: either staff member in the breakfast room could have phoned the receptionist to bring in papers for the guests or the receptionist should have brought them in earlier.
Review 10:Very good leisure centre, gym and swimming pool. Good bar food in the evening. Breakfast buffet selection good but have seen better. Rooms comfortable
Review 11:Was very convenient to the airport and to where my workshop was based, yet seculded and quiet. Excellent place to wind down, so relaxing and a great 'country' feel about it.
Review 12:Smell on corridors damp or blocked sewage at times. No menus on table for breakfast having to walk through courtyard to get to leisure centre
Review 13:Nice enough room could do with splash of color boring did not feel like an excecitive room nice breakfast I feel this could be a five star destination with a little help
Review 14:I hope I get the name right but gemma on reception should be praised for her hard work . My dress ripped and she was straight up to my room wit a sowing kit only outfit i had wit Me she was so helpful and polite!!!!
Review 15:Shuttle was not available to take us to the airport before 0700 for an early flight. Also, full breakfast is not available for early departures. The waiter in the dining room was very kind and made arrangements for us to have coffee and light breakfast before departure. Internet connection was inconsistent when in our room.
Review 16:Excellent service in the dining room.
Review 17:The mattress on the bed was extremely uncomfortable & neither the spa staff or reception responded to emails we sent prior to or visit.
Review 18:The room was nice.
Review 19:Bad location, glorified house, the fact that i was not allowed to pay in euros as i was quoted in euros! Will not be back!
Review 20:I liked leaving the property!
Review 21:Reception were very helpful and friendly. We arrived from the airport at 8am for breakfast. The young lady with the long dark hair - sorry I didn't notice your name - was brilliant in arranging an early check in for us so that we could get dressed and ready for a family occasion. Thank you.
Review 22:Staff all were very helpful in meeting all my needs. They went "over and above" to help me with special problems. I really appreciate their friendliness and their professionalism.
Review 23:Bar area had spider webs near top of patio doors. Tables and chairs in bar were sticky and needed to be cleaned.
Review 24:Location is close to airport. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 25:There wasn't anything we didn't like, as we had our own transportation. If you didn't it is quite far from anything!
Review 26:The staff were excellent and very helpful, considering they didn't show a reservation for us!!! Not sure what happened there, but they didn't have our reservation!!!
Review 27:The room smelled damp when I came first but that went once I opened the windows . only other complaint my partner has a bad leg and there was no lifts to the rooms and we had heavy luggage
Review 28:The location was peaceful and scenic. I also love the spa and leisure facilities.
Review 29:Wifi did not work in the rooms for longer than a few minutes at a time. Spa was basically abandoned despite staff taking a booking and nobody being there where I showed up for the appointment. Nobody seemed to o ow what was going on. Very odd.
Review 30:Was not expensive
Review 31:..........
Review 32:The staff are just do friendly.... Food is lovely.... My daughter. Is pregnant and the shef made her a really nice dish as ter was nothing. Else she wanted....overall great place:)
Review 33:That you had to walk outside to the pool, going out was fine but coming back in, your wet from the pool and going from the heat of the leisure centre into the cold.
Review 34:We loved the bar food and staff in the bar, it was the friendliest and most homely settling we have been in. Our son loved the bar staff, felt really at home with them.
Review 35:Beware. You cannot find this place, even with a GPS. We drove to it three days in a row, and each time it was very hard to find without asking more than one person for directions. The building has no number for the address, so you just have to learn the route. VERY far from services, except the golf course.
Review 36:Modern and clean.
Review 37:Loved the room great value for money. Very clean bathroom was perhapd my favourite very big and noce shower. Bed was kingsize and plenty of storage in room for clothes. Staff very helpful and gym and swimming pool very nice
Review 38:Not a great selection on the Bar food menu, eg no chicken. Bedroom carpet needed replaced.
Review 39:Lovely grounds, quiet, comfortable bed, pleasant staff. Good to have shuttle service to Airport.
Review 40:The coffee. Canadians are used to Tim Horton's.
Review 41:It was very close to the airport and the shuttle was very convenient. It got us to the airport very quickly. Shuttle driver was very helpful and courteous.
Review 42:The bar food menu was very expensive and quite limited.
Review 43:Lovely staff and good service. Pool was a good facility to have for my 3 sons. Breakfast was very good.
Review 44:No weekend entertainment and so we travelled to Swords on Saturday for an evening meal and musical entertainment.
Review 45:Good if you play golf and use the course. Leisure facilities good and nobody else using them with us on Saturday evening.
Review 46:Slightly softer pillows would be great..otherwise, couldn't fault it.
Review 47:Gemma at front desk exceptionally helpful..I stayed with 3 v young children & she went out of her way to help. V clean, v quiet. Beautiful view of golf course from our room. Lovely big lounge for evening time. I would definitely stay again.
Review 48:breakfast buffet was it supervised and a minimum of each product was present, cost cutting? So had to wait for items to come, by that time other items stone cold! And it was not busy
Review 49:The rooms were well appointed and spacious
Review 50:The hotel was in a great location. An 8 minute trip into Swords village which had plenty of shops and some lovely cafés. It had lovely floral displays which gave it a very festive feel.
Review 51:Our sat nav failed us. Not hotels fault we got lost, we arrived eventually.
Review 52:Staff great , loved the setting & grounds Evening meal good Swimming pool wonderful
Review 53:Staff in the bar was a bit slow, however extremely friendly.
Review 54:The bar was great and outstanding food. Decor and view from room. Quiet and comfortable. A bit out of the way, however everything need was on site.
Review 55:Service at breakfast not great, food cold requested bacon which took 10 minutes to come from kitchen. Also requested a croissant which never came..
Review 56:Room comfortable and leasure facilities were very good
Review 57:Public areas a bit dated and bar area smelt strongly of fish . Breakfast overpriced at 12 euros with dried up tepid bacon , the other choices were okay .
Review 58:Lovely surroundings , well landscaped gardens, easy parking 10 minutes to Dublin Airport. Very friendly helpful staff.
Review 59:Wifi not great, dipped in and out a lot,bar area very dark not much atmosphere but all the staff lovely
Review 60:Great location for seeing round, rooms gorgeous nice and spacious, bigger baths would be good
Review 61:We stayed here to avail of the parking (which we paid for) & shuttle bus. Parking wasn't cheap, though we still had pay for the shuttle... both ways. I required a cot bed for my baby & they were charging me for it. Any other hotel I've stayed this has been free.
Review 62:Food (breakfast & dinner) was delicious!!!
Review 63:They need better directions to their location. The GPS had us in a field across the street. If the place had not been so beautiful, this would have been a very negative review.
Review 64:We found this place online (Booking.com) and decided to stay because we needed to be in close proximity to the airport. The place is getting a little tired decor wise and our room needed some maintenance but we were not inconvenienced in any way and had a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. I am not a golfer so missed out on the best use of the facilities but there is a beautiful swimming pool and leisure facility. Definitely a place I will return to - it was an excellent base whilst exploring Dublin.
Review 65:We ordered sandwiches in the bar and waited just under an hour for them. Service was slow there.
Review 66:I liked the room and facilities. Hotel accommodated a 3rd person in our room at short notice for a nominal charge. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of food. Taxi from Temple bar, Dublin to Roganstown cost us €38.00 which was good as there were 4 of us in the car.
Review 67:The wifi was not strong. Breakfast was quite limited at 9:30. The furniture was a bit worn in the lobby areas.
Review 68:quiet, country location. About 10 minutes drive to Dublin airport. Friendly staff. Clean comfortable updated rooms and bathrooms. Good location when flying from Dublin in the morning.
Review 69:The hotel itself and room was comfortable, however the other guests there that evening were so rude and inconsiderate that by 4am we had to get the reception staff to intervene. Perhaps the staff could keep a closer eye on people 'hanging out' in the corridor preventing others from sleeping!
Review 70:Were there for a week and had no maid service for 48 hours as maid forgot. Finally had to ring reception, as we had an overflowing bin of apple cores and stale food. Housekeeper came to apologise with two bottles of water and some cookies, didn't really feel that was appropriate for inconvenience, a bottle of wine would have been a lot better received. Also maid came late afternoons when she did come, just when you want to relax after a day out! Only complaint as lovely hotel otherwise.
Review 71:Lovely hotel, friendly staff.
Review 72:The Hotel was luxurious and very inexpensive. Although it was in the country, it was a short drive to the airport. Would like to have spent another night and try out the course. Didn't eat there, but had a nice bar area.
Review 73:The bedroom doors in our corridor were heavy with some kind of spring loaded type mechanism, they were really heavy and really loud as they closed abruptly.
Review 74:Every member of staff was efficient, they were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. There was a wedding but our room's noise level was unaffected by it.
Review 75:Having to get taxi to town but hay ho lol
Review 76:The weather was fantastic everything about the hotel was flawless from the room to the food & drink and staff husband loved the golf course I loved the spa
Review 77:Lack of bar staff and floor staff at the wedding function. Also we had 2 small bowls of veg for 11 people, 6 of which didn't get any veg! Spoke to duty manager but he didn't want to know! Other than that stay was most enjoyable!
Review 78:I felt that in all staffing levels need to be changed and especially during functions in the function room long waits and people leaving their seats and going to public bars
Review 79:The setting was nice and close to major road networks.
Review 80:If breakfast is supposed to start at 7.00 it would be nice if it did. If it's a problem, start it at 7.30
Review 81:The location is very tranquil and quiet. There is a gentle air of quality and the hotel is very clean and tidy
Review 82:The bed was comfy but so noisy! We could hear the people upstairs....
Review 83:Handy to airport for an overnight stay. More of a leisure centre than a country club but great to use the jacuzzi and steam room for free.
Review 84:Went to leisure centre in morning for quiet relax in jacuzzi but I thought it smelled a bit funny. Sauna fine then headed to steam room and had to leave immediately it really didn't smell good actually 'disgusting' is the word I'd use.
Review 85:Room was lovely and clean. Girl on front desk lovely bubbly personality
Review 86:arrived at the hotel & warmly welcomed, beautiful hotel & brilliant friendly staff, Linda was a diamond great woman, well recommended & I will be staying again in the near future, a big thanks to all the staff.
Review 87:The decor & lighting in the bar area was very dated - considering there is nowhere else for guests to go when staying here I felt this area could do with a little love!
Review 88:The bed was very comfy & the portion sizes in the bar were HUGH! Staff were very nice & accommodating. Nice strong shower too
Review 89:Didn't like that golfers and members of the public had access to the wedding party in the piano bar. Groups of mainly men coming in off the golf course for a few pints left very little room for wedding guests, with some guests having to sit out in the hotel reception! Thought a little more effort could have been made in the decoration of the room for the wedding considering it was at Christmas. The front entrance to Roganstown is so nice but the reception room could be anywhere it's so bland and boring. Not what we expected upon arrival.
Review 90:Nice atmosphere on arrival. Wedding meal was good but no more than good. Our bedroom was spacious, modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice with a decent choice.
Review 91:Room way to cold upon arrival No breakfast the following morning as we overslept by 5 minutes.
Review 92:I loved the place, unfortunately the room was like an ice block when we arrived. We stayed in the bar and had one drink before heading out. Missed breakfast the following morning by about five minutes with no room for any other suggestions made by staff so after paying for this it was a bit disappointing.
Review 93:The hotel was very clean. The room was spacious and well furnished and was very quiet. The buffet breakfast was excellent and gluten free options were provided.
Review 94:noise from other guests did not get to sleep much noise went on until early morning main car park very muddy and not close to reception
Review 95:room comfortable breakfast good
Review 96:nothing
Review 97:The most comfortable bed I ever slept in. excellent pool the best porridge & fab breakfast lovely friendly staff would highly recommend this hotel
Review 98:We spent over an hour from getting off the motorway until a kind soul led us, in her car, to this hotel. There are no signs at all (even at the front) and no address to put in the GPS, It is completely impossible to find for an international traveler who has never been there before. I would not recommend this hotel to any visiting traveler because of it's location.
Review 99:I attended the hotel for a family wedding. I found the staff excellent , food and suroundings lovely. Would certainly recommend it for any other weddings
Review 100:Smelly hot tub and no swimming in pool with out a hair net, I have no hair, bar service slow Front desk Mailed my post cards not received in Canada yet ??
Review 101:Food was good
Review 102:cheak in very slow. Staff were aware that there was a large group arriving but seemed totaly unprepaired.Male manager not of much help to frount line staff.
Review 103:The hotel catered for all ages. Pool great atraction for all ages. Service excellent. Staff very attentive and friendly. Those with different dightry requirments well looked after, A really wonderful stay.
Review 104:Nothing
Review 105:We stayed at roganstown fir one night as we were travelling to USA next morn to start our honeymoon. The receptionist was so helpful are we were delighted as we were offered a courtesy bus service to airport at whatever time we needed. The bedroom was superb and only regret was we didn't have time to sample breakfast menu. Will be coming back to stay again.
Review 106:The only thing i would say is that the hotel room doors in the corridors are loud upon closing, resulting in being awoken a few times by other guests. Perhaps this could be addressed as it seems a shame to be somewhere so quiet and rural and still be woken up by noise.
Review 107:Room was dark, needs more lighting. Hair dryer cord was fed through a hole in the furniture but you had to kneel on the floor to use it and couldn't move it to another electrical outlet. It was placed in a location where you couldn't reach either mirror - very inconvenient!
Review 108:Location to airport Bar area was fantastic! Bell staff and front desk reception
Review 109:The toilets could do with a professional acid clean of the rim and pan. The toilet was clean just with long time use they need de-scaling .
Review 110:The hotel was lovely, clean, relaxing and comfortable.
Review 111:Thanks to booking.com I got a great rate a hotel with a Spa and indoor pool and airport transfers included ! I had a 2 day delay between flights to Botswana . It was a great hotel to rest and relax. The staff , mostly Irish were very efficient and helpful .The surrounding area is Countryside. The hotel rooms were comfortable with good old fashioned solid oak doors. Good view of golf course. Food was excellent wither at pub or restuarant. The Indoor pool was open 0630 am til late and the Spa on appointment. Unfortunately I did not visit the nearby Swords village for the History and new Pavilion center.
Review 112:The male staff were very ignorant. I would not visit again mainly for this reason. I had a very special gift for my sister for her wedding which was a slideshow to be played in front of 150 people and the audio didn't play and it was skipping. It was so upsetting and such a let down.
Review 113:I liked the food, the female staff, the decor and facilities
Review 114:The "ugly plate" - slow cooked beef ? shin ? of some sort wasn't very nice The kids did not eat the "chicken goujons"
Review 115:The swimming pool faclilities The buffet breakfast was good - not too greasy
Review 116:Had to keep asking if food was gluten free and they brought salmon, took it away but then brought fruit. No salmon without the sauce rooms a bit dark and dated Would have liked tables moved back for more dancing space
Review 117:Excellent food Provided very tasty gluten free bread Good service at the tables
Review 118:The bar/restaurant is in need of updating. It seems as though they can't decide whether this is a bar (in which case they need a restaurant) or if it's a restaurant (in which case it's too dark and the tables and chairs are an uncomfortable height for eating.)
Review 119:We probably would not have chosen this hotel except for it's location close to the airport. However, the staff was helpful, the room was large, clean and comfortable and the location was perfect for one last night in Ireland before flying out in the morning.
Review 120:Only problem I had was they don't do cash back with debit card but they gave me a tab and I paid for it the next morning at the reception
Review 121:Staff very friendly everything was very nice
Review 122:We loved everything about Roganstown, the staff were very courteous and the facitilties were first class. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our family and friends.
Review 123:Noise from the function room More parking spaces for residents of the hotel than just golfers using the spaces nearer to the hotel itself.
Review 124:Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Room was spotless. Luxuries, robes and slippers ideal Beautiful building and gardens
Review 125:wifi is poor - interuptions - sometimes no connection at all in the room - poorly handled by the reception
Review 126:excellent food
Review 127:I have nothing bad to say
Review 128:Hotel lovely clean, quite Lovely setting
Review 129:food was only ok, leisure center the same
Review 130:rooms were nice and staff were friendly
