Reviews for Glen Villa Resort
Review 1:Probably the price for what it was, even in peak season.
Review 2:The grounds were immaculate, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and I can't wait to go back!
Review 3:There wasn't the hairdrayer, for the price I expected to find it!!! We stayed 3 nights and there were just 2 towels!!! At least one more was necessary.. the accomodation has a little cooktop but with the stuff available was impossible to cook.
Review 4:The environment
Review 5:Small shower/toilet and a very distant walk to the beach. Quite expensive for the amount of time we stayed and received.
Review 6:Great little room for a few nights with friendly staff.
Review 7:Our air conditioning did not work during the stay - made noise and air but did not cool out cabin at all. Notified the property managers who went and have a look and still did not fix it. Gave that feedback again at the end of the stay, and one of the staff member rudely dropped in the conversation and said "you should have said it earlier", which we did while she was not working...we expected a bit better since we paid top money for our stay over the NY holiday.
Review 8:Location is great, walking distance from everything in Byron.
Review 9:I booked for 2 adults and child and because of booking.coms mistake for both my bookings no child was booked. Very rude and unfriendly staff who didn't make a plan or organise an extra bed. If you cannot handle Xmas craziness and have to be rude to visitors then don't be in that line of work!!!
Review 10:Close to town, lovely gardens and pool
Review 11:Excellent location close to beach and center of byron bay, but tucked away so nice and quiet in the evening! Great bed and basic kitchen utensils. Lovely outdoor sitting area too, parking in front of the cabin. It was pooring on the day of check out (Christmas Day) and we allowed to check out 2hrs later which was very kind!
Review 12:There wasn't anything we didn't like
Review 13:Staff were so friendly and happy to help all the time. Cabin was well equipped and air con worked well. Pool area was small but nice. The whole complex was well maintained and was a short walk into the town centre across the disused railway track
Review 14:The fact they put the prices up even if people were living there.
Review 15:The staff was amazing! The grounds were very beautiful and very well looked after. The showers are clean and I just felt looked after and that I was home.
Review 16:No teapot, only one saucepan had a lid. No large pot to cook rice/pasta. No jug for having cold water in fridge. No iron and ironing board in our cabin. For the price paid we did expect all of these should have been in the cabin. When I parked the car in frontway (once) as I was uncertain of reversing one night due to closeness of palmtree, a polite note was put on our car. I didn't think it was necessary as the park was not at all busy where our cabin was located.
Review 17:Friendly, courteous staff. When I enquired about an iron and board, it was delivered pronto.
Review 18:The water doesn't work when shower, it was either too hot or too cold. Shampoo wasn't given. The towel doesn't absorb water, so after shower, no point of using their towel.
Review 19:Everything else was okay. Very friendly staff. I'd say $100 per night.
Review 20:WiFi was non existent, perhaps needs major upgrade? Time for some renovating of cabin bathrooms.
Review 21:Waking up to the sound of birds. Easy walking distance to shopping etc. but still far enough away. Relaxed environment. After our complaint re late night revelers, we were offered alternative accommodation.
Review 22:Access at night was via a dark, unlit, poorly maintained road. The staff are unfamiliar with their computerised booking system and cannot handle changes to bookings without a great deal of agrovation.
Review 23:It was quiet and we were there only for one night.
Review 24:Wifi was not good. Could not connect and it was important. Towels are made of this slippery cotton that does not absorb.
Review 25:Quiet and comfy. Good for couples. They provide lots of kitchen stuff.
Review 26:The Location, fascilities & ambience were all excellent. The bed was so comfortable and the linen was nice quality. The staff were happy and helpful.
Review 27:The cabin was small (looked bigger in the photos). Bathroom cabinet needed renewing (door was peeling at the bottom from the damp). I didn't think it was good value at $380 for a 2 night stay. Would definitely stay at Glenview again, but will camp next time.
Review 28:The grounds were immaculate with a very nice pool area, which we made use of. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were within walking distance of the shops, restaurants, bars, beach etc.
Review 29:After a day of walking and beach .. went to shower .. took water saving to a new level .. they need to fix this as it would stop me staying again
Review 30:Clean .. nice room.. close to everything
Review 31:Upon doing an online booking to stay down at a cabin for $280 Australian dollars which wasexpensive. The accommodation experience just got worse! Even though the accommodation was expensive it was the only accommodation available in Byron Bay that weekend and I had to attend a wedding. We set off for Byron bay with my mother agreeing to come down also to spend a night in Byron Bay and relax. My mother was confronted with rude service from the receptionist from the start: asking about our sleeping arrangements and also about extra visitors attending: again strange questions to be requesting as she explained it was just herself and her son who was attending an afternoon wedding. I was attending a wedding in Byron bay and had to go straight to the service asI was running late and my mother would check in prior to myself in the afternoon. After the wedding I secured a lift back to the so called resort. This was at 10.30pm. When I went to the reception, I was treated very rudely by the management staff (obviously a husband and wife team who should not be dealing with guest!!!) I politely requested the cabin number for the accommodation that my mother was staying at and was told that their computers are turned off and they would not give out the details, even after I explained that I was staying with my mother and did not know which cabin she was in. After a standoff for about 5 minutes and myself questioning the poor service: they stated that my type was “a dime a dozen” which I understood from thatstatement that they have lots of complaints which I readily could understand by my treatment. They said they did not want me to stay at the resort even though we had paid for the cabin, because I was firm and assertive requesting the cabin number.
Review 32:Nothing about the resort. It could hardly be called a resort: basically a glorified caravan park with a rundown appearance.
Review 33:The grounds are pretty plain and boring, there are hardly any plants or gardens or anything interesting, grass and more grass. We were told the cabins had been recently updated or renovated, hard to believe, looked more like well preserved 80's time capsules
Review 34:Close to town and quiet, rooms were very clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly
Review 35:The decor was a little dated and basic and could do with a refresh but it met expectations and staff were great.
Review 36:As a young couple travelling around Australia for two weeks, a cabin at Glen Villa suited our needs and provided a different, enjoyable experience to our usual hotels on our trip. The staff here were the highlight. From their extremely friendly welcome and recommendations to them going the extra mile for us when we left our passports behind under our pillow. They tried contacting us and when we had arrived in the Gold Coast we were able to arrange for them to place the passports on a bus up to us the same day. I believe it was Jen that went a waited at the bus stop. Incredible customer service and an absolute credit to the resort.
Review 37:Large pieces of bird droppings on the floor of the back deck, small bird droppings on the outside deck table. The A/C was situaated in the toilet/shower area. If that was the Delux cabin I shudder to think what the Standard one looks like
Review 38:FriFriendly staff
Review 39:Just would have liked a couple more things in the kitchen.
Review 40:I loved everything.really missed the sound of the birds when I woke up at home this morning to the sound of the trains next door!
Review 41:The staff were very helpful and the premises and grounds are kept clean and tidy. We stayed in an ensuite cabin which was well equiped with an electric stove top and microwave. We have stayed here three times now and been satisfied each time.
Review 42:They didn't allow our 5 month old baby to stay in a studio cabin in a porta cot, then forced us to pay $140 extra for a one bedroom cabin that had no further accomodation/bed for our child and less room next to the bed for the porta cot. This is just rules set in place for money grabbing. The first family cabin we were put in was not clean, there was sand in the bed and liquid still spilt on the bench top and stove.
Review 43:The park it's self was very clean. The staff were very nice and accomodating.
Review 44:No tea, coffee or loo paper. Only kitchen chairs to sit on and the bed was hard. Could do with a thorough clean.
Review 45:Loved the location, and staff were friendly.
Review 46:Very expensive for a basic park cabin. Inadequate kitchen utensils for cooking, were only given 2 pieces of crockery/cutlery as only 2 persons allowed
Review 47:Staff were very helpful.
Review 48:Quite expensive for this very basic cabin. Proximity to Byron also meant it was Incredibly noisy on a Saturday night.
Review 49:Proximity to Byron Bay parking and security
Review 50:Unit was not aired out on our arrival,it was a hot day and the unit smelt of old cooking smells, also needed to wash cutlery etc before use. Shelf by TV was very dirty
Review 51:Very peaceful well located facilities
Review 52:Perfect location to stay in Byron. Walking distance to everything. Our room was great , beds were comfy overall was a great place to stay. Will stay here again for sure.
Review 53:the micro wave was dirty I think you need to review the cleaner I guess
Review 54:the staff at the front counter made us feel very welcome that was linda and Fiona awesome job girls
Review 55:Very strict, was not allowed visitors that were also holidaying with us. There were ants constantly inside we couldn't get rid of them.
Review 56:Staff were very friendly, grounds kept very clean
Review 57:A couple of mosquitoes sneak the room but there's no malaria in ubud and using the canopy over bed they don't disturb sleep.
Review 58:We received a free upgrade to deluxe villa on our arrival. We also did not fly out until late evening and after checking out and getting the free shuttle to town for the day,we were still able to get an airport transfer at 6pm. We had a lovely stay.
Review 59:The bathroom could have been cleaner. Soap scum on the vanity and dirty finger prints on the toilet sistern. Makes me wonder how clean the rest of the place was, although it looked clean.
Review 60:I could leave the car and walk to the beach and town centre.
Review 61:Our doona cover fell apart / un stitched. The air conditioner was in the bathroom & the shower water temperature would go cold during your shower.
Review 62:Staff were lovely & very helpful. The location was walking distance into town which was great.
Review 63:The bed was a bit hard and so small for a couple esp. when one of us is 6'4 - I think we are prob a bit precious in that we are spoilt at home having a Kingsize bed!
Review 64:The staff were lovely, all very friendly, very clean, lovely warm water in the shower, great pressure also, very tidy grounds, quiet, lovely pool, close to everything.
Review 65:The path from the gate to the shopping centre while nearby was full of potholes. Byron Bay is overrated in my opinion with high parking fees & impossible to park at the lighthouse. It's a long walk up.
Review 66:Laundry facilities and outside washing line. The weather was fine and warm.
Review 67:sign on gate saying NO VISITORS as we had planned for our brother to call out from Lismore to visit us -- also lack of kitchen facilities two only of all crockery and cutlery making it awkward to prepare meals -- they definetly did not want anyone else to call in to say hello
Review 68:location
Review 69:Bad hot water system in one of the rooms
Review 70:The staff were really lovely and helpful and the location was ideal for access to the shops, beach and public transport.
Review 71:The hot water system in cabin 103, is not so good. Cold showers aren't fun.
Review 72:The staff were super friendly and helpful! The cabins were a short distance away from town and the beach, so it was easy to get around without a car.
Review 73:The cabin was very cramped.
Review 74:Glen Villa is one of the few budget options in Byron. The site is very tidy, quiet and pleasantly green, but do not expect a "resort". The swimming pool is small, but the cabins are too small for families anyway. When we stayed, there were no children on site. The cabin accommodation is clean and basic, with a comfortable bed, a very small lounge and a small laminex table with two plastic chairs. There was no A/C and I would not recommend during extremes in temperature. We stayed in a "Deluxe" cabin, but this did not appear to differ much from the regular cabins.
Review 75:cabin equipment, ie kitchen utensils could have been a little better. However, this was reflected in the cost of the accommodation which was good value for money.
Review 76:location and type of accommodation suited us. Staff were very friendly and the campsite had a good feel and was very well maintained.
Review 77:Noise through paper thin cabin walls. Same as being in a tent. Street lighting shining all night through the many windows on 3 sides of the cabin with inadequate tired curtains. Tiny uncomfortable bed. Not enough hot water for 2 showers in the morning.
Review 78:Nothing worthy of a like to be found.
Review 79:We accepted an offer to upgrade to a "Deluxe" cabin which was not worth the price. It was the same shipping container size as the "Studio" cabin. Also, we went to visit our daughter but could not invite her back to our cabin because of the "absolutely no visitors" policy.
Review 80:The room we stayed in really needed redecorating as it was quite old fashioned.
Review 81:We were able to check into our room very early (before 8 am) which was good of them.
Review 82:The location was excellent The facility was close to pristine The service was very good It was just what I was looking for; affordable with a sizable spar bath and the bed was very comfortable
Review 83:Wifi reception was poor, tricky to find (hint: take lane beside legend pizza, cross disused train track path and turn left)
Review 84:Clean, safe, good location and quiet.
Review 85:Relocate the double bed to other side of room to create access in front of the kitchen bench and to the bathroom
Review 86:Staff were very helpful, personable and very informative. Very clean. Felt secure & safe with close walking to shopping centre.
Review 87:The term "deluxe" cabin for the cabin we stayed was a little misleading. The cabin itself was suitable for our needs and was self contained, "deluxe" however was not how it looked, nor was the price reflective of how the room looked. A little over priced for what it was.
Review 88:Location was ideal and the staff were extra friendly. Clean and tidy, quiet and reasonably priced.
Review 89:Not a bad experience, but ... The aircon/heater was extremely loud to the point of waking us up. The door was tricky to lock
Review 90:Great location - so close to town, easy to access. Cabin was clean. Enough linen supplied
Review 91:The car parking - was asked to back in beside the cabin which was awkward because of location of palm trees, then couldn't fully open the boot & hit my head on it!
Review 92:Staff were so obliging, location great & cabin clean & comfortable.
Review 93:I liked the well kept grounds, nature feel, location to the Byron Bay market day - short walk. It was quiet at night - no parties. TV was not working, so I asked for help - it was fixed asap in an enthusiastic way. Staff were attentive, well dressed and eager to make my stay enjoyable.
Review 94:We booked online through booking.com a little cabin for around $130 per night, for 5 nights. We assumed it was free for us to stay there with our 18 months old daughter who even sleeps in our bed. But as we checked-in, the reception obviously saw we had a daughter, and said it was the policy to have strictly 2 people per cabin, no more. So we had to either pay an extra $75 per night to get upgraded to a two double bedroom apartment, or to lose our bond, which was pretty much the booking fee of around $650. So we paid extra $350, disgustingly. We taught it was really unfair as we were fully unaware, and assumed that it was ok as it is free for under two year olds to travel in buses, planes and stay in hotels such as the one we came from in Palm Beach and the one we went to in Coolangatta. A travel agent who drove us around couldn't believe it: you know when someone laughs hard out but you don't even smile... and suggested to write to the owner/manager to request some fairness/refund as proof of good will. So we did. Twice. They didn't even bother replying even though I left them two messages in two weeks time. So I wouldn't recommend that place. Surely for around $200 per night you can get something much better located and luxurious that that !!! And for people that don't care about their guests to the point of welcoming them with a no-solution-you-have-to-pay-extra smile, that's no good place to go! + the pool is extra small and too cold we didn't swim once in it. there was some plastic stuff covering many of the windows of our apartment, which couldn't be removed, for God knows what reason, but the view isn't made better so. it's in a street that looks like the dodgy area of town.
Review 95:The staff were all very welcoming & friendly, clean & comfortable accomodation only minutes from the heart of Byron. I very much look forward to my next stay there.
Review 96:Cabins were poky along with a tiny bathroom, no real room to spread out. Cooking facilities were rather basic in the cabins but there is a great bbq area that is spotless :) the price wasn't really value for money of that's what you want in a cabin!
Review 97:Location is good and away from any noise of a friday or Saturday night in byron so good if you want quiet, yet still only a few minute walk to the centre of town.
Review 98:The lighting or pot holes just before entry to the camp are in need of attention as quiet dangerous
Review 99:Really enjoyed the town with its wonderful atmosphere , street entertainment and variety of people . The resort so close to all this.
Review 100:The price was way to high for what you got but it was a busy weekend in Byron. Busy periods = lack of supply and therefore high prices so not the end of the world.
Review 101:The location is good, the accommodation was basic but clean and I guess what you'd expect from a caravan resort. The staff were great.
Review 102:Very basic & small cabin for the cost per night- I realise it is priced against accommodation options in town, but it was overpriced for what you get. Some of the provided cooking utensils were old/damaged & could do with replacing.
Review 103:Well located, short walk to town. Friendly reception staff. Didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. Quiet grounds. Clean cabin.
Review 104:Bed quite uncomfortable though had budget accommodation. Fly screens not well fitted- attacked by mozzies!
Review 105:Friendly & helpful staff. Very clean establishment, manicured gardens. Had all expected amenities.
Review 106:Could not fit the whole car in the carport as the roof was too low. No flyscreen doors, so had to shut doors once it reached dusk to keep mozzies and midges out.
Review 107:Quiet location but within walking distance to town. Villa came with a carport and your own clothesline.
Review 108:That it was so close to the centre of Byron shops, restaurants and beach (5min walking distance). Cabin was clean and comfortable and staff so easy to help with anything.
Review 109:its 2015 so i dont understand how you can charge 10 dollar for 400mb.... unless its part of the businessmodel, not guestfriendly from my point of view
Review 110:clean, silent and close to center and beach
Review 111:Stayed in cabin and bed was small and hard . Searched on line for B & B so we were a bit shocked when we arrived , not what we expected .
Review 112:Close to town and beach . Clean and quite .
Review 113:Second stay didn't have a bedside lamp...no other complaints.
Review 114:Fab stay.stayed twice 14 nights total in march April. Staff friendly and very helpful . printed directions from Google maps for me.stored luggage check out days access to showers too clean park and quiet at night. great facilities. Pool.laundry wifi . recommend.
Review 115:Shower was a little small after a day at the beach there was sand in it that wouldn't wash away. The kitchen wasn't the cleanest, but we didn't use it.
Review 116:The location was perfect and the cabin was quiet.
Review 117:no bad experience
Review 118:for byrom bay this park is great value and once found it provided us with everything we wanted during our 2 night stay. The cabins are slightly "old school" and have seen plenty of usage over the years
Review 119:To quite
Review 120:We loved the location, how clean the property is and friendly environment! Had a perfect weekend slept like babies in the comfy bed. Thank you
Review 121:We were in a villa and the bed was not very comfortable old air-conditioner a little noisy I do like my bed to be comfortable.
Review 122:Well kept lawn and gardens and a nice quiet place
Review 123:The place itself is always well kept, quiet and relaxing. Very friendly staff and within walking distance to the shops, pubs, restaurants and the beach. Too easy!
Review 124:Very friendly, helpful staff. We checked out at 8am but were still able to use the shower facilities at the end of the day after the beach. Nice, quiet cabin, close enough to the main street but far enough away to get a good night's sleep.
Review 125:crumbs in / on shelves. Old scourer and toilet brush that really needed dumping. Could use a fly screen on the front door. Could use more storage for clothes etc and a support rack for travel bags.
Review 126:Location and staff. Grounds were well kept, neat and tidy.
Review 127:Water jug in fridge had what looked like red lipstick on the spout where someone had drank from it. It was not clean.
Review 128:Nice quiet comfortable accommodation, good location that you could walk to town and all attractions.
Review 129:Absolutely nothing.
Review 130:Recently booked a Spa cabin for two nights. The location is superb with only a minutes walk to the shops. 5 minute walk to the main beach. On arrival we were greeted by a young female, who had exceptional customer service. Guided us to our cabin. After reading some of the 'fussy' reviews I was a bit sceptical what it would be like inside. It was beautiful - comfy double bed, air con already on as it was very hot that day, kitchen dining area and then the bathroom just off the room which had a spa bath which was amazing. Took full advantage of that on our stay, using the shower gels provided by the resort (natural aromatherapy smelling ones!) After our two nights were up we was able to leave our luggage in reception with no extra charge. We had booked a kayak trip for the morning, so the reception staff said we could come back and use the showers, provided us both with clean towels. The reception staff I met are a credit to your resort, along with your housekeeping staff who keep it very clean!! Overall we had a fantastic stay at the Glen villa resort. We will be back :) Thanks, Rachel.
Review 131:The mattress was lumpy and needed replacing.
Review 132:The cabin was light and airy and detached so we had no noise issues. The staff were extra friendly and interactive.
Review 133:Nothing. All was perfect
Review 134:Staff were so helpful from the minute my partner and I arrived till we left. The room is massive and so private I will definitely be back
Review 135:the Cottages were tidy and clean but was lacking a dvd player, as would have been nice to watch a movie of our choice, lacked enough outdoor furniture on the verandahs, no instructions on how to work airconditioner, no ceiling fans in bedrooms, was quite a hot night! Sadly the floors were badly cleaned in both cottages, was a horrible feel on your feet, so slimy and slippery as if they used dishwashing liquids to clean floors.
Review 136:this location was the best location group bookings could it was walking distance to everything.
Review 137:if I really had to find something, which is difficult I would say there were a fair few ants but that's part of life i suppose
Review 138:the staff were really friendly
