Reviews for Kilkenny Pembroke Hotel
Review 1:bedroom was too hot overnight, not sure how to regulate
Review 2:Friendliness of staff, coffee machine in bedroom, breakfast choices, peaceful yet central location, feeling of security (swipe needed to accessbedrooms via lift)
Review 3:Only thing was in our room(124) was a water tank or something in the vent, that was filling most of the nyt, so hard to sleep. Other than that everything else was perfect.
Review 4:Staff very friendly, great location, and very clean.
Review 5:Breakfast was very busy on Sunday and we had to wait for a table for a while and then when we did get one the food was nearly all gone and was not being replenished so we were left with very little.
Review 6:Good location and room was perfect.
Review 7:The staff were very friendly and the hotel was so quiet even though they were fully booked. Perfect location to walk and explore kilkenny. Would definetly recommend it to people of all ages. Food in the bar was lovely, great flavours. Breakfast was really tasty aswell
Review 8:The breakfast was top notch. Couldn't fault it and such a good selection from fruit and yogurt to sausages and eggs. The staff could not do more if they tried. The location was perfect it was in the city without having the noise of the nightlife coming in the window. I will definitely be staying here again
Review 9:No a la carte menu for dinner, just a set choice of 4 starters and mains. The same dishes that were on if you booked a package. Breakfast bad choice of bread asked for the lovely brown bread that was available with dinner but not available even though i did see it on breakfasts delivered to rooms. Tinned fruit not fresh for salad bowl not good.
Review 10:I liked the location, and the staff were lovely
Review 11:The room was cold, despite numerous calls to reception to regulate the heating. Although staff did their best to help we did spend both nights in hotel feeling cold in the bedroom.
Review 12:Room was a good size, very clean. Cleaning of room was efficient and done early each morning and staff were pleasant and friendly.
Review 13:We ate in the bar of the hotel one evening, and the staff were excellent, and the food good. However I felt that the restaurant in the hotel was very un-inviting and lack an atmosphere. Unfortunately it was for this reason we had our evening meals in a couple of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, which were excellent....and I would recommend them both.
Review 14:The staff in the Pembroke Hotel are excellent from the reception staff who greeted us in a very warm friendly manner, to the housekeeper who took care of our bedroom. We were in a superior room on the 1st floor, which was very spacious and comfortable....the Nespresso machine was a super extra to have!! I have to mention the honesty of one of the girls on reception/dining room who found a substantial sum of money belonging to my partner and returned it to him immediately.
Review 15:Beds not very comfortable , the parking situation and lack of tea making facilities please note not everyone drinks coffee.
Review 16:Staff and the food was great
Review 17:Both evening meal and breakfast food was served going cold on plates insufficiently heated. Vegetables half cooked at dinner.
Review 18:Receptionist Lucy was totally helpful in getting me in having arrived late due to storm conditions.
Review 19:Location is excellent for the many restaurants, pubs and shops and only a short walk to the castle which is definitely worth a visit. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 20:The self service full Irish breakfast was very disappointing,it was not warm, and some items were not replenished quickly. Secondly, very poor selection of fruit
Review 21:Location and helpful staff
Review 22:Needs a sign outside for parking, good service, great location, very clean all round, friendly approachable staff. Only Negitive was that when we went down for breakfast it had been open for an hour but it was empty and the hot food looked as it had been sitting out that long.
Review 23:Could not fault the hotel.
Review 24:From our arrival up until the day we left, staff were fantastic throughout . I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitel stay there again
Review 25:Staff(Sinead) was awesome. Very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. Room was recently remodeled nice and comfortable. Location excellent. We loved Kilkenny and wish we had more time there.
Review 26:I had to move rooms because the heating did not work a common occurance here and even then it did not work well. I have had the same problem before the hotel needs to sort this. The wifi which has been poor seemed a bit better this time.
Review 27:I like this hotel it is a nice size and the executive rooms have good space
Review 28:Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel itself was fantastic and in a great spot, close to bars and tourist attractions (Kilkenny Castle).
Review 29:There was no water in the room which would be welcome. Breakfast room staff were efficient but unfriendly and started to clear the juices and buffet etc at 10.10 am which was a little rushed and didn't allow for top ups. We weren't asked if we had enough tea coffee and a request for more juice was met with distain.
Review 30:The reception staff were bubbly and welcoming. The space in the bedroom was a pleasant surprise and was nicely decored.Good value in a superb location with secure on-site parking.
Review 31:Bedroom cold, despite change of room - room temperature struggled to reach 19 degC - this is too cold for comfortable relaxation (OK for sleeping). Bed hard and uncomfortable. Food only average (just).
Review 32:Nice , well designed bedrooms, that are spacious.
Review 33:They need to provide a kettle as well as the nesspresso machine.
Review 34:Perfect location and very comfortable and friendly. Liked the nespresso machine in the room and the secure parking.
Review 35:Room at front was a little noisey, especially early keg/beer delivery, but this was a very minor glitch in what was other wise a super stay.
Review 36:Great hotel, excellent location, great breakfast. Staff very good at what they do.Thanks to all.
Review 37:Nothing to report
Review 38:Friendly staff. Fabolous room. Beautiful breakfast. Secure and free parking. Beside the shops and pubs and yet very peaceful at night
Review 39:Nothing to report here.
Review 40:The hotel is beautifully designed, the location is fantastic and the staff are super friendly. Definitely planning a return trip.
Review 41:Parked OK as it turned out but concerned that it may be a problem at other times in view of spaces compared with room numbers and business centre.
Review 42:Good breakfast, large very clean room, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 43:Food in bar..would have liked more healthy options..a bucket of chips with everything...not..and the heating in bedroom ..too high
Review 44:Staff the best. So helpful and a smile at all times even when the power went out.
Review 45:Parking was a little bit tricky. Directions to other car car park weren't very clear and took a long time to find!
Review 46:Excellent location. Really friendly staff, very helpful. Lovely spacious room, very comfortable.
Review 47:it was all good.
Review 48:extremely friendly staff. the best place we stayed in all of Ireland. modern rooms, friendly staff and great food in the restaurant. don't bother looking for a restaurant to eat out. the hotel restaurant is great and caters well for dietary requirements (we are celiacs, but getting gluten free food was no problem).
Review 49:On this occasion I was on the ground floor which was okay but had some difficulty gaining access to my room through the communal secure door on a couple of tries. Staff were helpful. Bathroom could possibly do with some decoration.
Review 50:Excellent staff and facilities and brilliant location.
Review 51:Builder on site - no prior warning given on booking. Lack of 'lounging about' seating.
Review 52:Lack of football telly! General calm (except for kango hammer noise on last two days). Parking facility in City location. Value for money hotel.
Review 53:The staff were very helpful, pleasant and efficient, a real asset. Very central. They had some renovations happening but that did not affect our stay.
Review 54:Even though we were in the centre of the city the room was quiet. The breakfast was very good, great choice. We ate in the bar on two evenings and our food was really good. Staff really friendly
Review 55:Lovely hotel, had a new hotel feel to it. We put the "do not disturb" on the door and when we left our room the hotel staff left fresh towels, shampoos and a new bin.
Review 56:Everything was great. Very friendly staff on reception and cleaning staff very pleasant and thorough. Nice bar and parking very handy, nice not to have to pay for parking for once it's rare these days in hotels. Will stay again.
Review 57:This hotel is overpriced. The hotel bar has absolutely no character to it. The lobby is uncomfortable. No biscuits with the tea in room.
Review 58:The Pembrooke is in a perfect location for visiting kilkenny city. Everything in walking distance. On site parking is a good facility. Reception staff were extremely helpful
Review 59:Friendly Staff, very pleasant / helpful receptionist, clean & comfortable room. Hotel very central, really good location.Excellent all round....
Review 60:Lighting in bar. Seemed like it was on a dimmer. I imagine it was meant to create an atmosphere but I felt it was just hard to see. (I was wearing my glasses)
Review 61:Hotel was very clean. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, well mannered and polite.
Review 62:Everything was great - nothing to critize
Review 63:Right around the corner from the Kilkenny Castle Great value for money Bus Stop practically right outside the door
Review 64:none
Review 65:From the moment we arrived everyone made us feel welcome. Everything had been done very carefully and thoughtfully, from the layout of the rooms to the enjoyable breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 66:Very nice hotel close to castle, "medieval mile", shopping, good restaurants, and stop for buses to other cities. Room was large, clean and quiet overlooking a courtyard. Front desk staff provided spot-on recommendations for dining. Our stay was very pleasant. Cafe Coco nearby was wonderful also.
Review 67:Wonderful and friendly hotel management and staff, both front of house and domestics. We had a memorable time and enjoyed every moment of our visit. Kilkenny is an amazingly beautiful city as is the county. We will recommend the location and hotel to our families and friends. Special thanks to Courtney Powers for the roof-top tour of the city.
Review 68:Only a 15 minute walk from the town centre. Friendly staff, who were happy to give advice about places to eat, as well as supply a map of the restaurants. Afternoon tea was a nice extra.
Review 69:No problems, no issues.
Review 70:On site parking. Could be tight. We had no problems. Modern coveniences all worked well. Good location for places to eat and shop. All in all anice property.
Review 71:With no street address, it was a bit tricky to find
Review 72:Location. We walked to restaurants and the Castle. The reception staff was friendly and welcoming. Great value.. Kilkenny is a charming town
Review 73:The staff and location were great. They gave us a great pub to go to for sports and food. There were a lot of sporting events that week end we wanted to see. We had trouble with the internet which did not like any solutions they came up with so they gave us another room....again with a few. We came in by bus from another city and the hotel was only a 1/2 block from the hotel...that bus stop also has buses to Dublin several times a day
Review 74:Breakfast was disappointing considering it was included on the price which is why we chose the Pembroke Cereal and sausages were not great quality. 3 or 4 Fried eggs were thrown on a plate at hot counter Did not look appetising. The hotel bar had been closed all day due to renovation so we left the hotel that evening and headed out instead. We were told they were hoping to open that evening but we didn't wait around to see. So those two aspects were a bit disappointing when you pay enough for one night.
Review 75:It is a nice hotel , and very clean Staff were very friendly :-)
Review 76:Room had modern decor.Great full length mirror for dressing. Spacious and comfortable. We were there when a hurling game was on so the place was buzzing.
Review 77:No Kilkenny. Strange that - Kilkenny beer is hard to find in Kilkenny.
Review 78:Great location, off street parking. We normally eat out (to check out the area) but this time we came back and ate at their bar. Pulled pork burger....yum.
Review 79:All the racket from the construction you were doing was obnoxiously loud. The maids had their linens covering the hall ways, and the free breakfast was mediocre. The price was very high for that kind of room, especially compared to several others we visited over a 2 week span.
Review 80:The location was good but very hard to find. Having parking was certainly a plus.
Review 81:Noisy building work but that's temporary and couldn't be helped
Review 82:Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Free parking a bonus. Looking forward to going back when the building work is finished...
Review 83:I thought it was a bit over priced, €180 for 1 night in a double room and no swimming pool in the hotel
Review 84:Excellent staff, large room and very comfortable bed
Review 85:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 86:Brilliant location and excellent recommendations from hotel staff on where was good to eat. the hotel parking also proved invaluable.
Review 87:Just thought the hotel was way over priced , the particular group i was with 30 other people but they all stayed some place else because of cost .
Review 88:staff very nice and helpful
Review 89:Close to the vibrant centre of Kilkenny. Lovely decor and really nice room. Bathroom was excellent. Plenty of space for clothes and travel items. Really enjoyed the stay.
Review 90:Er.... TV channels not great. Very minor point.
Review 91:Location , condition and decor of the room and bathroom. Breakfast. Staff very efficient and pleasant. Great hotel.
Review 92:1.Our room overlooked the carpark. 2.The bathroom door in our room badly needed a coat of paint. 3.The first day there was no shower cap it was missing, the toiletries were sparce, as were the towels allocated (Just the bare minimum of both). 4.The bed was hard and pillows appeared to be of cheap quality and uncomfortable to sleep on. 5. Breakfast was bland & buffet style with guests asked to serve themselves to both the hot plate and the cereals. There appeard to be very few staff on at breakfast making it hard to get their attention as those that were working in the dining room were very rushed. 6. The hotel carpark was extremely small, and always full. Second overflow carpark offered by hotel was up the road from the hotel itself, again very full during our stay (with cars then left all over the place blocking some vehicles in). Overall unfortunatley based on our experience the hotel did not offer value for the money we were charged and for that reason we would not stay again. Feedback form either missing from our room or not provided ( we were not sure which).
Review 93:1. The location of the hotel was excellent as it was in the town and central to all shops and amenities. 2. The staff were polite and friendly, with one or two of them providing a noticable outstanding level of customer service. 3.The late checkout time for guests of 12 we felt was a very good idea and much appreicated.
Review 94:If the hotel is full irish,..please provide irish tea bags ie. Lyons and Barry...etc as only got Kenyan ones...in our rooms I mean....mind boggles...ha...coffee machine is great...put in more coffee stubs as got only two...I love Coffees...
Review 95:Great staff and fast service etc...can't complain...I didn't take photos as our window faced the wall outside..in room 207...
Review 96:Noisy location you will not fail to notice that Kilkenny is a Stag & Hen party destination. Obviously this is not the hotels fault. Car park is difficult to get into & exit. There is an overflow car park & I would go there directly in future although it is a short walk to the hotel.
Review 97:Friendly staff. English breakfast was properly cooked, rare in a hotel. The room was spacious, well decorated & furnished.
Review 98:The breakfast was very disappointing, expected a higher standard of produce.
Review 99:Very comfortable rooms and beds, excellent shower, friendly service, great location.
Review 100:The staff were fantastic. We had a dental problem and they went above any expectations to help. We loved this hotel. Location was great. A bit hard to find the parking in a busy street, but well worth it.
Review 101:Breakfast was nothing special. Service was ok. No salt and pepper or milk on our table so had to ask and had to wait. We were frustrated having to cook our own toast...thumbs down for this I'm afraid. Bed was a little uncomfortable and the duvet was as flat as a pancake!
Review 102:Location
Review 103:Nothing.
Review 104:Everything. This hotel went out of their way to welcome us, including putting out sweets for our anniversary. Phenomenal place for the money. This place was an excellent value!
Review 105:Whatever fault in booking system occurred.
Review 106:Great service at reception desk. Due to an error in Booking.com system, my booking had not gone through to Pembroke although I had a confirmation message from you. Reception found us another hotel at no extra cost.
Review 107:The hotel, staff and facilities are wonderful. We had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend it to everyone we know. We were there for 1 night but we were so relaxed when we left it felt as though we had been away for longer. Even our 1 year old had a great time and she adored the comfortable bed.
Review 108:Truthfully there is nothing negative to say about the Pembroke
Review 109:very personable staff and safety of car as well as the very comfortable bedroom and surroundings
Review 110:the aircondition was a little bit too loued, if you have a light sleep
Review 111:huge rooms with a lot of space for bouth of us, great beds and a great location so close to the center
Review 112:That I couldn't stay longer!
Review 113:I am originally from Kilkenny, so to feel comfortable and relaxed, in one's own town is very important. My son also enjoyed his stay and cannot wait until we go back again.
Review 114:Breakfast could do with a little tweaking. No porridge on offer though on our last morning someone asked for it and there didn't seem to be a problem. No fresh fruit salad- just tinned mandarins prunes and grapefruit. Items can run out during the last half hour of breakfast!
Review 115:Great location. Friendly smiling staff. Comfortable room. Within walking distance of city centre.
Review 116:Afternoon bar staff informing us there was particular brand of drink at all on site. Night barman informed us there was no problem with supply and promptly served us with the beverage.
Review 117:Location of hotel, parking facilities, in general staff were friendly and helpful. Outdoor seating area was available however it was next to training centre and felt uncomfortable using the facility.
Review 118:Reception staff very friendly and as it was my wife's birthday they provided a treat in our room wishing her a happy birthday. Room very quiet which is what we asked for.
Review 119:the only thing missing from this excellent accommodation is the flatsheet on the bed. It's probably a european thing :)
Review 120:Everything! Comfy bed, great shower with awesome water pressure, spacious bathroom, bedroom, hi speed wifi and amazing staff. Location is excellent as well.
Review 121:The room was comfortable with a nice firm king sized bed and air conditioning. The location was fresh, close to the castle and near pubs and esting establishments. The use of the Watershed pool was a real plus.
Review 122:no complaints whatsoever
Review 123:Extremely helpful friendly staff, well maintained, spacious rooms, excellent breakfast. They genuinely care about the customers
Review 124:I loved the proximity of the Pembroke to the Kilkenny Castle, the shops, restaurants, and the "Medieval Mile". We had probably the best night in our stay in Ireland by visiting "The Hole in the Wall" bar.
Review 125:Like everything about this hotel
Review 126:This small hotel's location is walking distance to shops, sites, restaurants and night life areas. You get to enjoy peace and quiet when you're done!. Lovely lobby, bar and restaurant, friendly staff and modern well appointed rooms. A Fabulous Value!
Review 127:The hotel location, setting, modern interior design, amenities like free parking and restaurant made our 4 days in Kilkenny a delight. Friendly helpful staff always with a smile. Stay here wile in Kilkenny and enjoy one of Ireland's nicest small hotels.
