Reviews for Wild Honey Inn
Review 1:Closes up for the winter
Review 2:Having stayed before I have to say it's great that good things shouldn't change. Comfortable beds, clean and warm cosy rooms, made to feel welcome by Kate and Aiden and their staff and WHAT a breakfast.
Review 3:Kate and Aidan that own this fine B&B are fabulous people! We just loved Kate because she was so accommodating and helpful, we felt like we were part of their family rather than a guest! Aidan is also the Chef in their on-site restaurant and I don't use that word lightly! He is a true Chef in every sense of the word and highly awarded as such. The food was amazing. We didn't intend to eat all breakfasts and dinners there, but we did just that and enjoyed each and every bite of the innovative and meticulously prepared meals. Seriously, to find this gem in the small town of Lisdoonvarna was the absolute highlight of our trip. I have eaten at fine restaurants all over the world and Aidan's dishes rivaled them all!
Review 4:The staff lacked the typical Irish warmth and friendliness we had come to know. The room rattled and the hot water only worked some of the time. We were charged unexpectedly for a cup of tea and coffee..
Review 5:Nice decor
Review 6:Kate was very kind to make arrangements for us as we arrived on an early morning flight from Shannon, so we could get an early check in (she can't always accommodate early check in as guests schedules vary). Great cup of tea and cookies for us after resting and had dinner at the restaurant. Delicious meals! Great relaxed atmosphere. Dinner gets very busy so make sure to reserve a table. Lovely garden views as well.
Review 7:Nothing.....
Review 8:I cannot compliment this place highly enough. I loved everything about it. It's a real haven - set in the middle of west clare. The minute we arrived it was just so relaxing. The proprieters were lovely. The food was exceptional. The ambience in the pub / restaurant was comfortable and so so relaxing. I will certainly visit again.
Review 9:(Owner)Staff very curt and breakfast service v slow by inadequately trained minimum staff. Restocking of breakfast table inadequate with orange juice of poor quality.
Review 10:Wooden floors were creaky, as one would expect from an old mansion. Didn't bother us because we were on top floor, but our travel-mates on lower floor had some trouble sleeping.
Review 11:Very attractive pub with wonderful, award-winning food. Old-fashioned "pub with rooms" featured quaint bedrooms with skeleton keys, and an attractive common living room for guests.
Review 12:We need to wait for check in about 25 minutes no one at the reception No elevetor for the first and second floor and no one to help with the luggage . The windows in the room were closed and stuck in Waiting for 45 minutes to get the breakfast main dish .
Review 13:The location is OK near the village center
Review 14:One of the best meals I have ever had, amazing breakfast& lovely cosy atmosphere. Would absolutely go back again and recommend it to others. Very friendly staff
Review 15:Overall a very pleasant experience in the Wild Honey Inn. Good location on the outskirts of Lisdoonvarna, short walk into town. Excellent restaurant, one of the nicest steaks I've tasted. Great pub (Roadside Tavern) just 5 mins walk with great music.
Review 16:Wifi not available in all rooms but maybe it's good to escape from it once in a while!
Review 17:The friendly staff, the outstanding food and comfortable, nicely furnished bedroom
Review 18:I loved the style of the hotel, really nicely decorated. Our room was spotless and again really gorgeous decor. Bathroom also was spotless. I just felt relaxed the minute I walked in the door, not like larger hotels with all the hustle and bustle, this is perfect for a quiet weekend away.
Review 19:The shower was never hot, only warm. Consistent WiFi is an issue.
Review 20:The room was lovely and the inn has been very tasteful renovated. The food and restaurant is superb for an evening meal - except Monday. Breakfast was great. Very welcoming owners and staff.
Review 21:Nothing much to report, although something like a wood-burning stove to warm up the residents' lounge would be nice, especially as it is one of the best places to get a mobile signal.
Review 22:Food, Kate and Aidan, location, surroundings
Review 23:Gadgets would not connect to the Wifi.
Review 24:The food was superb as was the service . We stayed for dinner as well as breakfast. The room was warm tastefully decorated with a wonderfully comfortable bed.
Review 25:Nothing. High standard throughout
Review 26:The smoked salmon with apple and chicory salad was superb. Arrived late but was offered homemade wheaten with my glass of wine. Cosy atmosphere in bar. Excellent breakfast.
Review 27:The quality of the food is second to none. The style of cooking is something you would more readily associate with a Michelin star, city-based establishment, plus it is extremely good value. The breakfast is also beautiful which makes the overnight stay, with dinner, an experience to repeat as soon as possible.
Review 28:bar was not very comfortable.
Review 29:loved the lovely smells from kitchen, comfy residents lounge with loads of books and magazines and gorgeous sofas , cosy bedrooms with window seats.
Review 30:Could not access Wi-Fi in bedroom. Breakfast menu would benefit from inclusion of porridge/oatmeal.
Review 31:Lovely breakfast room and breakfast itself was very good.
Review 32:Our bed was quite uncomfortable, it was creaky and there was alaways the feeling that it would collapse. We waited in reception the following morning, rang the bell 3 times and there was nobody to speak to. We rang later in the day and when we arrived back to the hotel, again there was nobody manning the reception. Kate spoke to us late that evening about changing rooms, at this stage it was so late and we were settled in the room again so we declined. In fairness she gave us a discount on the bill. the amazing food made up for the uncomfortable bed though!
Review 33:We loved the breakfast on both mornings. Top class, great choice, certainly not b&b fair, real 4star hotel grub. We ate there on Wednesday night, it was stunning. The best meal I have had in a long time. Not cheap, but excellent value for money.
Review 34:Because the house seems to be a little older moving around in the night is a little noisy
Review 35:First the excellent food, the charm of this little house and the housewife
Review 36:The service was very slow- waiting to check in and out for a long time. I think this was as a result of the restaurant being very busy at the time. There is a need for a designated person to look after the reception/ hotel side of things
Review 37:Beautifully presented, very comfortable and an excellent location
Review 38:Nothing not to like.
Review 39:Pretty much everything. Comfortable, quiet, excellent food in the pub side and a good choice for breakfast. It was lapse to all the things we wanted to see and do.
Review 40:Room was a little cold, but the two duvets we had kept us plenty warm while sleeping.
Review 41:Room, with french doors leading to garden Food was superb Staff was professional and helpful Bed was comfortable Room was private and quiet
Review 42:We missed the opportunity to heat water for tea or coffee in the room and maybe a little bit of drinking water. The room was a bit too warm; no air condition. It was for the most part ok though.
Review 43:Wild Honey Inn is a very nice place to stay; hospitable hosts and personnel, clean and atmospheric rooms, good food, a very good location when you want to see places like the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, the county Clare. We felt welcome.

Review 82:Can't think of a thing, except perhaps would like tea/coffee making facility in bedroom for early morning.
Review 83:Didn't know anything much about the place before we arrived and were very pleased with what we found. Nice room in lovely old house and a (most necessary!) comfortable bed. Great breakfast and simply delicious dinner. We were well looked after by helpful and friendly people, almost home from home!
Review 84:Proprietors and staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant served wonderful food. It is a bit pricey for dinner but worth every penny! The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed and opened onto a wonderful garden.
Review 85:Walls between rooms are very thin. You can hear everything and therefor we didn't sleep well.
Review 86:Great food and lovely ambiance. Close to Cliff of Moher.
Review 87:Foodwas very expensive, although very nice. The ensuite toilet was tiny, no windows, just sink and loo and shower but the room itself was lovely.
Review 88:Food was fantastic as was the service and the rooms was very clean.
Review 89:It's a bit far to walk into the town centre on a wet night, but fine if you drive
Review 90:This hotel was really lovely and had special charm. The guests lounge is very comfortable and the breakfast area overlooks a pretty garden. The breakfast was excellent and the owners were helpful and friendly. It's a great location to explore the cliffs of Moher, if you are driving yourself
Review 91:Bar food not as good as I expected fom reviews- also not great selectionfor vegetarians. Noise from room upstairs early morning - may need tosound-proof rooms below
Review 92:Warm friendly atmosphere - lovely breakfast room with great selection offruit cereals and cooked breakfast. Conveniently located for walking inthe wonderful burren of co clare. Nice residents lounge
Review 93:I felt that the checking in was a bit of a problem we waited for quite awhile until we then went into the bar to get someone to check us in.There are also 3 entrances which is a bit confusing. Maybe a sign overthe accommodation door might help. I was also locked out one morningwhen I went for a jog, I had left my key with one of the staff as Ididn't want to carry it. It took forever to get back in which wasannoying. I think the only other thing that could be added is tea makingfacilities in the room that would be a nice touch.
Review 94:The Wild Honey Inn was a lovely place to relax and enjoy the scenery inCo. Clare. I really enjoyed our two nights there. All the staff werevery friendly and helpful. I thought the dinner setting was great, anice and relaxed informal dining, just what you want when you are awayon a weekend break.
