Reviews for Eremo Della Giubiliana
Review 1:We have given this hotel a low rating because of a bad experience on our first night. The rooms are decorated with heavily perfumed curtains. We struggled the whole night opening and closing the window, and me sleeping in the bathtub by four in the morning. The next day it took the staff six hours to provide us with a new room. They were very accommodating in removing all the curtains from the second room, but have not offered any compensation for the discomfort of the first night. Our stay was over new year's, so on the new year's night we were very tired because we had not slept the night before. We have also noticed the head waitress being quite bossy and grumpy with the staff and it did not seem necessary. Apart from this everything else worked.
Review 2:The ambience of the castle. The warm welcome. Very nice internal seating areas. Very good breakfast. The castle's red wine.
Review 3:Everything perfect.
Review 4:Charming countryside location. Fantastic 3-floor room with 2 terraces offering great views. Tastefully decorated. Respectful restoration. Great massage and treatments. Good restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Friendly cats and dogs :)
Review 5:N/A
Review 6:Fantastic place, beautiful food and lovely staff. Could not do enough for us. Lorenzo very helpful and professional. Thank you all, we will definitely return. Mr&Mrs Guidi
Review 7:This isn't a city 5 star, bathroom fixtures were a little on the antique side (but not a deal breaker.)
Review 8:The staff were fantastic, the owners even helped out with baby sitting - classic Sicilian hospitality :) - Lovely place, lovely people, wonderful stay.
Review 9:the swimming pool water was really cold and could do with a little bit of heating
Review 10:nice spatious suite with great view a really great breakfast with excellent capuccino
Review 11:Expect authentic bathrooms with historic plumbing. Pool area unkempt and water cloudy and uninviting.
Review 12:Ambience of hotel. Attentive staff anticipating our needs. Fabulous pillows. Outstanding breakfast. Peaceful rural location in beautifully restored monastery.
Review 13:When having dinner after the dessert but before coffee one member of the staff told us that they needed the table and asked us to have drinks at another place. You do not expect to be treated like that at a 5 star hotel!
Review 14:The food at dinner was excellent.
Review 15:- swimming pool is a bit small (and lots of leaves from the trees around it) and noisy (running water from a fountain and ambient music which becomes annoying when one wants to rest and relax) - dinner was good but too expensive (it would be much better to make special menus for guests, with good value for money)
Review 16:- beautifully restored historic place (monastery, turned into a family castle) - excellent staff (very helpful, explaining lots of things about the place and the surrounding sites) - excellent breakfast - excellent location to visit Ragusa
Review 17:Missing only a separate shower (not easy to fit into converted monks cells) and an insect screen over the window to allow the window to be open at night.
Review 18:From a personal welcome (with almond milk), the staff were attentive and kind throughout, happy also - a good sign of a well run establishment. The hotel is full of character and beautifully converted, full of antiques and with plenty of food and other products grown ion the estate. The sumptuous grounds are a little paradise with a wonderful pool set under trees in a lush lawn. The breakfast was fantastic: heavenly fresh fruit, cheeses, prosecco (!), cakes as well as all the usual. A first class Michelin star standard restaurant. A private airstrip, massage and spa if you are so inclined. Well-placed for all the incredible sights of this culturally, scenically and architecturally rich region of Sicily. What's not to like? We upgraded to a larger room for not a lot extra and it is worth it if staying more than a few nights (the 'classic' rooms are perfectly adequate but not large, hewn from monks' cells).
Review 19:located in the countryside midpoint between Ragusa & Marina di Ragusa meant driving out at night was tricky for us if you did not want to navigate the dark roads at night after a bottle of vino! But we found the restaurant had excellent gourmet food & wine! The hotel also has a taxi with a very special flat rate for the hotel guests so you could "drink & drive" if you fancied going out to Ragusa town for dinner! So this was not a negative point but that we were not game to drive out at nigh but almost all of the other guests did without any qualms!!!
Review 20:everything i read on the reviews are true and more. Loved the cooking lessons, and the location - private property with its own grounds. Extravagant breakfast buffet - attentive staff on a 1 to 1 ratio literally. We were 2 girl friends touring the UNESCO world heritage sites of Sicily and each had our own rooms - the staff treated us like family and took us under their protective "wings" to make sure we knew how to get home safely, best towns to see, safe roads to travel on and that our rooms were well turned out and we had everything to make us comfortable. Spoilt .. and I am looking forward to going back to this hotel again soon!!
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:This is a beautiful first class working farm. They have all the amenities that a quality stay would have. The staff came out to greet us and handle our luggage. The masseria is an old monastery that has been lovingly restored; many antiques and even a suit of armor. The grounds are beautiful with their own garden; swimming pool area is lovely. The owners still live here and the 86 yr old grandmother greeted us when we arrived. We enjoyed our stay here and were sorry we could not stay longer. Make the effort to make this stop. Breakfast was very generous.
Review 23:Our standard room is a bit small, and up a flight of stairs.
Review 24:Being treated as a valued guest, the gorgeous property and its history, the restaurant ambiance and service. The hotel provides a truly luxury experience, from staff greeting us as we drove up, the welcome drink of almond milk and every effort to accommodate our needs and provide assistance. We're sorry we had not arranged to make this a base for a stay of several days.
Review 25:Small room. Brown bath water. Wonky loo seat. Paint peeling round bath/shower.
Review 26:Country location. Excellent food. Stylish & original design & decor. Staff excellent.
Review 27:The bad smell in the bedroom. The restaurant menu did not change often enough. The step near the reception desk is dangerous. My wife fell and could have seriously hurt herself.
Review 28:Full of character. Beautiful setting in very peaceful surroundings. Excellent restaurant.
Review 29:la architectura
Review 30:Excellent small hotel that will not disappoint. Staff superb
Review 31:Bit out dated. Neighbouring house annoyingly noisy.
Review 32:Excellent restaurant and very good service.
Review 33:Atencion del personal, especialmente, del director.
Review 34:The place, quietness, professionalism of the staff and the food.
Review 35:excellent food, wine & staff
Review 36:Staff great, decor inside and outside very beautiful, unique location and dinner was amazingly good.
Review 37:Noise from the room next door, loud banging noise when the hot taps were on.
Review 38:The welcome
Review 39:food good but over priced
Review 40:Overall historical ambience, sitting area by log fire, good service from friendly unobtrusive staff
Review 41:Location great breakfast
Review 42:not much to do for kids at the age of 10-13
Review 43:beautiful kitchen, garden, nice pool
Review 44:Absolutely nothing
Review 45:Wonderful staff, beautifully relaxing hotel, great food. Absolutely faultless. Do not miss this gem
Review 46:I would have liked a proper shower. How picky can I be!
Review 47:Location, building, staff, service and food, views, peace and quiet.
Review 48:Relaxed and quiet with friendly staff and good food. We stayed in a cottage by the airfield which was great.
Review 49:To be honest the size of the single beds is very small, also the rooms. An not to talk about the bathrooms. In fact our room # 3 should be used only by one person or a couple average in size ¡: )
Review 50:The premisses are unique and the staff is excellent. They really were very helpful with our car that gave us some problems.
Review 51:Hotel needs a lot of TLC - Somewhat rundown especially in the gardens and bathrooms are not up to current luxury standard. The food in the restaurant is rather pretentious and expensive for what it is
Review 52:potentially a beautiful hotel with character Breakfast was outstanding. Staff very helpful and friendly
Review 53:Over-priced for accommodation and for meals. Phone and wifi not working properly at cottages. Risotto extremely salty, food overall not up to hype and prices.
Review 54:Interesting old buildings with lot of history. Plenty of space at cottages.
Review 55:Too many things to list! Overpriced for what was offered. Poor service. Unclean. Remote location in very impoverished region.
Review 56:Our room was impressive, but so it should have been at over £400 per night. The building was interesting architecturally but not cosy.
Review 57:Stray cats wondering freely in the courtyard. The establishment looked very run down generally and the grounds were very scruffy for what we assumed was going to be an upmarket property.
Review 58:The breakfast was good.
Review 59:Most of what is advertised is not delivered: restaurant so and so, pool with more algae than water, forget about massages, bathrooms to be refurbished. In a nutshell: either they reduce prices substantially or invest substantially. The present middle way is untenable
Review 60:the Eremo is really a special place, full of charme, very quiet and close to fantastic historic cities. The countryside is amazing. Staff smiling and plenty of good will. Ask for Angelo and Letizia, the best!
Review 61:No hot water on arrival as there was a fault. This meant we had to move after unpacking .
Review 62:We enjoyed staying in the cottage and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside. Bikes are provided to make the short trip to the main hotel building for a wonderful breakfast.
Review 63:The restaurant was a disappointment with a lack of variety being the keyissue but quality was also not as good as we had expected. While staffwere very helpful they did not have too much information about things todo in the area. The small size of the hotel was also a problem withnoise pollution, particularly from the restaurant, being a problem.
Review 64:The site was excellent - a beautiful conversion of a monastery withrooms in the monk's cells decorated with antiques and persian carpets.
Review 65:Gianna and staff were hands on taking good care of our every need. Thiswas the last leg of our three week trip to Italy and certainly one ofthe two best hotels we visited. A little remote and hard to find butwell worth the effort. Everyone of the staff, especially Hann, were veryknowledgable, helpful and courteous. Typical Sicilian dishes, inaddition to the innovative style of the award winning chef wereenjoyable.
Review 66:The hotel is ranked as 5 star l, and claimed a few things that justweren't there, such as a cycle for each guest to use during their stay. There were quite a few rusty cycles available, but the majority were notroadworthy. We were given a booklet of local walks and rides, which wasalmost negligently vague. Fortunately, the hotel has a red flag flyingwhich is visible from some distance. Also, we would have expected themajority of the staff to have some fluency in English, for the rankingit's given. Some of the staff had an outstandingly good attitude, andsome were a bit average. Quirky though!
Review 67:Interesting conversion of a monastery, well appointed rooms. I am glutenintolerant and the staff took every care with my food, nothing was toomuch trouble. Lovely garden
Review 68:Absolutely wonderful service by k
Review 69:Lack of toilet seat in downstairs men's room near main entry.
Review 70:Ambiance
Review 71:the history
Review 72:Some attendants could be a bit more welcoming and smiling Scruffy bathroom
Review 73:The building
Review 74:The restaurant was a bite disappointing... It was very difficult to findthe hotel, even with the gps.
Review 75:Very nice place. Wonderful staff.
Review 76:Wanted a few more hills.....
Review 77:Helpful staff. Nice facilities. Very good food and service. Peaceful.
