Review 1：The exterior of the hotel and the supporting facilities (such as the garage) still need quite a lot of renovation to be on par with the professionalism of the staff.

Review 6：We got a room overlooking the main road which was very noisy. Moreover, the adjacent room was only separated with a door and you could here your neighbours talking, watching TV and coughing. You should use soundproof doors!

Review 11：We thought this hotel is located in the Opatija, but acctually it was not in Opatija. However Lovran is not so busy like Opatija and with the child it was better choice. The location is excellent and hotel outside and inside pool were good enough and the small cosy private beach was very nice and convenient.

Review 12：It was OK but and in my opinion......... Only instant coffee at breakfast from pseudo "fresh" coffee machines. Huge choice - poor quality, same at dinner. Elevators always and I mean always a long wait and a long queue. Beach area unsupervised and dirty facilities. "City" facing rooms actually face a very busy road and a petrol station, very, very noisy. Sea facing rooms over the pool very, very noisy when odd entertainment (that nobody attends ) takes place in pool area. Not able to order a drink or a coffee or a snack in the main pool area before 12.00 (noon). Shower did not work properly flooded room. Spa area shuts early and the first you know of it is when they turn lights off (bit tricky when your swimming). Showers in spa pool area not working. Whole spa area unsupervised. Bizarre method of getting a beach towel - You need to get a ticket from front desk and make a deposit and take ticket to spa desk to redeem a towel? Why you simply can't complete the transaction at the spa is a mystery (reminder of old communistic system?). Staff very nice people but seem untrained and unsupervised - never saw a manager in the whole stay. Was not very expensive but 4 star????????????????

Review 14：- cues on buffet (starting only at 7pm not as usual 6pm to spread the crowd) - food not always up to the standard (some pre-made dumplings or other foods used, not everything is freshly prepared). - Wifi did not reach rooms - One out of our 4 mattress was old - Private sea access area rather small so if you don't come early you will get no space.

Review 16：The beach is very small and people just put their towels down and the consider the sunbeds taken, even if they are elsewhere. The lifts are a nightmare! It's an 8 storey building with two awfully slow lifts. You spend half of your vacation standing in front of an elevator. The music! For a hotel that sells itself as a family place, there is loud music every night, either listening to "Yesterday" for a millionth time or Ricky Martin. There are 25 people enjoying this and 300 waiting for it to be finally over. It's so loud, closing the sliding door won't help. The garage. Why do you have to pay 10 euros a day to be able to put your car in a musty, dark, disgusting place? They surely could ask less or renovate the garage.

Review 18：There are only 2 main elevators, which is a total bottleneck, it usually takes minutes to get arrive, somtimes you have to wait for 10 minutes to be able to get in. Outdoor pool should definitely be refurbished

Free spa and gym for hotel guests, delicious food for breakfast and dinner, nice bar/restaurant to have lunch and evening drinks. Separate room for children's entertainment, so adults can rest in quiet. Old town, post office, stores and tennis court all within walking distance.

Review 23：AC in the rooms doesn't work it's very hot, the wifi is very bad in rooms and almost doesn't work, not hot water at night in the bathroom. I complained about all this to the reception but they didn't care, also sent an email to the hotel management but they didn't care.

Entertainment provided nightly with enthuastic and friendly entertainers and a good choice and quallity of food available on half board option. Overall good value for money. Waiting staff were friendly and helpful.

Sometimes there were no beach umbrellas for all tourists. Flashing WIFI in rooms (proved with 2 smartphone and 1 tablet). Ventilation in bathrooms inoperable.

Review 30：All you need to be above reproach is that dinner is up to 19 hours, which is certainly very late and quite deliberate policy to make people spend more on food during the day. This is unfair, because the price of dinner is pretty high.

Review 41：Hotel has been renovated. The main restaurant offers really good services. Both breakfast and dinner are really good. Service and rooms are very good. Our junior suite was really OK. Personel on the reception is friendly and helpfull. I do recommend this hotel.

Review 42：The hotel hosted a loud wedding, which we didn't know. The wedding was supposed to finish by at least 02.00. If we had known it, we certainly would not have come! Besides, the main receptionist clerk was unexpectedly arrogant, the night clerk said "we could complain to the hotel manager, who was at the wedding". The night clerk made us pay the night, although we checked out before midnihgt the very same day (proof: receipt), since we decided to leave due to loud music that could be clearly heard on the sixth floor. As regards the food at dinner, well, we can hardly classify it a 4-star hotel food. Maybe the breakfast would be better, but we weren't there to find that out.

Review 43：I asked the hotel stuff just 2 days before travelling if spa is included in price and got confirmation. Unfortunatelly they "forgot" to say that spa is not working as they are renovating it. The same renovation works were on the atrium and on the beach. I think this kind of information should be announced automaticaly (also on booking where hotel was announced as "brand new"option). Not informing it (even when asking directly) is a bit unprofessional for sucha a big hotel chain as Excelsior.

Review 45：We stayed there for 4 days in April. We got the room on the 6th floor, with sea view and lovely balcony. It seems that most parts of the hotel (lobby, wellness area and rooms) were just renovated, so everything looks modern and clean. Breakfast is excellent, so as the overall service. Experience definitely worth repeating.

Review 46：The hotel is ok, but it was just renewed and our room had a strong smell from paint and new furniture and it was our mistake that we didn't require anothere room. Over booking.com we have took a superior room with sea view and with balkony, and they gave us a room in an attic(smaller walls in the room, big wall in the balkony, so you have to stand up to see the sea..). The bathroom is for a hotel with 2 stars (but it was clean).

This was the 2nd time we stayed here and the rooms are of excellent quality and not in need of refurbishment ( on both occasions stayed on floor 6 in superior room with sea view Cleanliness - excellent room cleaner. The dining room was monitored by the General manager , but some improvement would be good, although with buffet this is difficult. Partly eaten desert left in cold display (cleared about 15 minutes after I saw it) & staff member near soups was cleaning the counter (good), but some of the food dropped on the counter was thrown back into the bowl containing them( not at all good)

Review 63：Fantastic view to the see. Room is good enough, well furnished room. Food services were great even morning and afternoon. Indoor "beach" is well prepared. Garage Parking excellent under the Hotel but payable (12euro). If you need a place with children, than it is an excellent choice.

Review 64：The hotel looks a lot better in the photos - in reality it is a very outdated building that urgently needs repairs and renovations. Facilities like pools are not well-maintained. There are only 2 very slow elevators for the whole hotel, if you are on the upper floors you might even wait 10 minutes. Dining/breakfast room has the atmosphere of a cafeteria, no drinks (not even water) are included in half-board rates and prices for drinks are very expensive compared to outside the hotel. Private parking is expensive but there are no other options around the property.

Quite important cause almost everywhere you cant step up in the water from the shore. Great sea view from the suite on 6th floor. Excellent food from room service (a la carte). Good choice of food. Review 124：Decidedly it is not a family hotel. It is rather a sanatorium for German seniors. There wasn't any ramps for a baby stroller, any playgrounds, any children pools, only one German TV channel for kids, Kids Club only for kids above 4 years old. In general - any attractions for small children. We did'nt like also a very loud animations which took a long time until a midnight. Hotel is rather old and needs a repairs. Especially an indoor pool was in terrible condition.

Review 128：Service in the restaurant, hotel facilities and rooms are dated. If you stay on a superior floor like 7th or 8th you could wait even 10 minutes till one of the two old elevators arrive. The outdoor pool is quite small and no suitable for swim.

Review 129：The hotel has a great position, facing the sea and the Kvarner bay. Very close to Lovran old city centre (10 minutes walking) and close to Opatija, which worth a visit (15 minutes driving). Medveja beach with small peables and sand is also 10-15 minutes driving. The 2 small outdoor pools are very good for childrens.

Review 132：We had demipension, and it was a great choice, because the food was very good , it was Swedish buffet and a good diversity. Everything was excellent. The only issue , elevators that work very slow and you have to expect them.
