Reviews for Kastalia Boutique Hotel

Review 1:There was no refrigerator, no hair dryer, the room was smaller, then on the photo on booking.com.

Review 2:The building was beautiful, the view was wonderful and the staff was very nice. Especially the lady, that served breakfast.

Review 3:A room which had nothing to do with the proper image of the hotel's exterior, reception and restaurant or its description. The exterior of the hotel makes it seem like the best hotel in the area (we heard someone bragging that it actually is), but the state of the room itself did not reflect this at all. I guess the 2nd floor, where we stayed, has never been renovated as opposed to the reception and restaurant. There was much humidity inside the room and because of that the wooden door of the bathroom was swollen and would not close properly. There was a TV tuned to only one channel. There was no hair dryer in the room, as per the room description, but in its place on the bathroom wall there was a hole with a bunch of cables sticking out! We therefore had to ask the reception for a hair dryer. The first one we were given was not functional and we had to go back for a second one. There was an A/C, but no remote control to turn it on if you needed extra heat. We also heard other people complaining about the shortcomings of their rooms. Poor image for a hotel near a site of archeological interest, attracting tourists from around the world. Such a pitty! If this is the best hotel of Delphi, I suppose that the hotels of the area are just counting on "once in a lifetime" visits.

Review 4:The location, since it is very near the archeological site of Delphi, which one can reach on foot.

Review 5:Stunning view from room and breakfast deck. Helpful staff, great location for visiting the Delphi site. Easy parking and wide selection of restaurants

Review 6:We wanted to eat at the restaurant, but they were renovating (we visited in December) and though it was open, there were ladders etc all over the place and it didn't seem very welcome. Shame as the menu looked good

Review 7:Great location 5 mins walk from the ancient site

Review 8:On arrival we were given a map of the town with some bus information. The info was 3 years out of date! We were informed of this when we went to book tickets for Athens. I know times are tough in Greece and not wanting to throw away an otherwise good leaflet but you would think that someone could have gone thro the leaflets and deleted the cancelled bus times. There was also a strike at the Delphi museum during our stay but no indication of this was posted in the hotel lobby.

Review 9:It was close to the Delphi museum and site. The breakfast was good and filling. The rooms were a good size and comfortable.

Review 10:Everything was great. No complaints

Review 11:This is a family hotel & guests are treated just like family. We had a lovely evening meal in the hotel restaurant with a 15% discount & it was beautifully home cooked food. Room comfy clean & modern. All round great experience

Review 12:It's location is perfect, near the ancient ruins and it has great views to the valley. The hosts were very kind and helped us in any request we had.

Review 13:We booked the room in 4 star hotel, but when we arrived we were offered the awful room for that price. Old with smelt from the toalet.. When we complained we were offered upgrade for renovated room, but for the additional charge.. We had to agree as had no choise. Be careful with this behavior of the hotel management.

Review 14:Excellent location, very nice view if you get the room on the high floor

Review 15:Not sure what the "boutique" is supposed to mean. This hotel, like most in Delphi, is on the main road, which might be a problem in high season, but didn't bother us.

Review 16:They upgraded us to a deluxe (renovated) room, which was nice. Staff helped me with practicing Greek. Great breakfast, served in courses, not buffet, included.

Review 17:Bed linens could be upgraded. Room was a bit small. I requested a quiet room and was given a room above dining area.

Review 18:Convenient location. Friendly staff.

Review 19:Nothing.

Review 20:The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The owner, Smaragdos, is very friendly, hospitable and welcoming. The hotel's location is excellent, the view from the terrace fabulous, and breakfast is a real treat.

Review 21:The hotel is clean, tidy and with quality fittings. You are looked after well from the moment you arrive and the owners are most attentive and helpful. The rooms are well fitted out and the beds are comfortable. A view out tk the Gulf of Corinth at breakfast gets you in the right frame of mind for the rest of the day. Highly reommended.

Review 22:Very charming and friendly staff. Home made fantastic breakfast on beautiful open air terrace with breathtaking views. Superb quality in restaurant and central location close to the monuments. Absolutely recommendable

Review 23:Not enough restaurant staff at dinner. Waiter tried hard but hopeless. Food cold, came at different times, wasps...

Review 24:Location, warm welcome, hotel ran efficiently

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:The views to the coast are amazing from the restaurant and the rooms at the rear of the hotel. It is also only a 10 minute walk to the entrance of the Delphi site which is best done early when it is still cool and there are not so many people. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 27:The room was quite small - to the point where it was hard to walk around the end of the bed without hitting your head on the wall-mounted TV. Also, the balcony was almost too small to even place chairs on. We were supposed to have a mini-frig with this room but did not - they said the renovation was not yet complete - but they did store items for us that needed to be refrigerated. Also, we often had to go the lobby to get a good wifi signal. This hotel has great potential but still needs a bit of work.

Review 28:Great location - central to everything - and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also excellent!

Review 29:The foam-filled pillows, almost like resting one's head on a balloon. Most uncomfortable.

Review 30:Our room facing the beautiful valley below. And the breakfast was very good too.

Review 31:Friendly staff willing to help with any request. Excellent location, walking distance to visit the archeological site. Nicely renovated rooms, we stayed in room 403, spacious with unrestricted view. Rich traditional breakfast served with a beautiful view. Hotel restaurant was also nice, all hotel clients get a discount, tried a few dishes and they were all very tasty, better quality of food than what we had in the local restaurants in the past.

Review 32:Restaurant is nice and a reasonable option for dinner but doesn't live up to the standard of the rest of the hotel in terms of comfort and decor.

Review 33:Extremely friendly welcome. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us and our children.

Review 34:No car parking. You have to be lucky to get a pace in the street,. If you don't you may have a long walk to the car.

Review 35:The amazing view from the bedroom balcony. Breakfast looking out across the valley was an experience not to be missed.

Review 36:Our room was in front of the property towards the busy road which we liked initially but regrated it since around 1 am there was a party going on at the street and we could not sleep. We stayed only 1 night so the next day drive and sightseeing was hard with the few sleep.

Review 37:The staff was amazing and they even upgraded us to the deluxe room -which was newly renovated! It was a great room with a bit small shower but overall great room

Review 38:That I had to leave Delphi.

Review 39:I loved everything about this place. Staff was amazing. Lounge and restaurant were comfortable to hang out and catch up on work. Drinks were great. Location was perfect... just a short walk to the sites.

Review 40:Well, there's nothing much not to like. I wish they had a pool with the view. And the balcony is somewhat small.

Review 41:The location is great - in the center of Delphi. The staff are very welcoming and nice! The view from the balcony is amazing.

Review 42:Quite old building. The most renovated place is the reception. Rooms are very disapponting compared to the photos.

Review 43:Helpful staff.Clean rooms. Great view from the restaurant.

Review 44:Room is supposed to have sea views, a fridge, a safety box. I was in a 2nd floor room and had none of this. It seems also that the ground floor has been rehabilitated but not the other ones that look very old.

Review 45:Location

Review 46:The booking machine is misleading. The so called 2-room "suite" does not have separated rooms and is sitting on top of the main street - not what you would and should expect from that category. Although higher priced and higher advertised, it is not worth the money. The "superior" rooms we saw are all to the other side of the building and have a very nice view. The booking machine very often does NOT allow for booking 2 adults - 2 children into one of these rooms as it does not take the children into account, but treats them as adults. Annoying, as the space on the sofa-bed is great for 2 children (possibly not for 2 adults), but you may have trouble trying to reserve it. Cannot blame it on the hotel, but rather on the booking machine.

Review 47:The location is great - on Delphi's -little- main road, close to thesites, yet with the (possibility of) a great view towards the sea.The staff at least tried to fix out room issue - but couldn't due to availability.

Review 48:The friendliness of the staff coupled with the fantastic location and ambience of the hotel meant our stay was an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend Kastalia and wouldn't consider any other in Delphi.

Review 49:The restaurant in the hotel would benefit from some redecorating, but do let it put you off: the food is great.

Review 50:This hotel is run by very nice people. The food in the adjoining restaurant is very good. Greek, but different! So is breakfast.

Review 51:It would have been great to have softer pillows.

Review 52:Wonderful host and family feel. The host provided lots of useful information about the area. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel over three days and that was good value.

Review 53:This is a really sweet hotel in the centre of town with a great view. The ancient ruins are within easy walking distance. Perfect location for a visit to Delphi.

Review 54:Very good value Staff were very friendly, particularly liked our chat over breakfast Great view from the balcony Walking distance to archaeological site which is why we were visiting

Review 55:The bed is not terribly comfortable but we were so tired from walking all day that we slept fine. The shower is a little strange as it uses a curtain and has an outcropping like a tiled “seat” on one edge. Dinner at the restaurant is not good, despite recommendation from front desk.

Review 56:The hotel is inexpensive, it’s convenient to the main road, and you can walk from here to almost anywhere else in the area. Breakfast is good on the terrace overlooking the mountains and a view down to Itea and the sea.

Review 57:We booked this hotel because their description said the property had an elevator. However we were given a room on the lowest floor (at base of hillside) that was only accessible by walking down 2 corridors and 2 sets of stairs after being taken down to basement via the elevator. For someone with back problems this posed a major problem. Unfortunately the only 5 star hotel was booked so we were stuck. Fortunately only booked one night.

Review 58:The restaurant had a beautiful view The grandmother was very sweet The owner was friendly

Review 59:Absolutely nothing! The Kastalia was perfect

Review 60:From the place to the people they made us feel like we were home. The Kastalia Hotel was incredibly clean, the food in there Resturant was delicious the staff was amazing. We are differently coming back.

Review 61:Renovations still in progress, so some things are missing from the room. I have read that the unrenovated rooms are not nearly as nice — so it pays to pay the extra few euros (or whatever Greece ends up using for currency) for the renovated, cliffside view rooms.

Review 62:My renovated room had a comfortable bed, modern bathroom. The most spectacular view I have ever had from a hotel room. From the balcony, you look down a mountainside to the sea below, with a town dimly visible in a cove. Newly opened hotel restaurant is fine as well, with the same spectacular view.

Review 63:This adorable hotel was spotless and newly renovate. Our balcony had a million dollar view of the mountains and sea. The owners and staff were so sweet and wonderful we hugged them all goodbye. The location is right in town and we could walk to the archaeological sites. Our next trip to Greece will start in Delphi at THIS hotel. We loved everything about it!

Review 64:Staff were very friendly on arrival. Quiet period for the hotel but enjoyed a personal service because of that. Beautiful view from the terrace. Great condition hotel, very nicely decorated. Breakfast was fantastic; the food just kept on coming! We were only in Delphi a short time but the hotel was in a great location for everything, come tell met our needs.

Review 65:Not a lot of room to move around in.

Review 66:Fabulous location, 5 minutes walk from the archeological site. The pillows were the best ever!

Review 67:Greek hospitality at its finest, family run hotel, clean and great breakfast with wonderful view. Thank you!!

Review 68:Particularly friendly staff and great breakfast. Very well located for visiting the archaeological site at Delphi, a short walk away. Amazing value.

Review 69:Everything was great. Awesome service, outstanding breakfast, cool ambient, great location, superb Hotel

Review 70:That we didnt have more time there....

Review 71:Superb property .... Awesome Views....and Outstanding Hospitality.....

Review 72:Perfect location for both the archaeological sites as well as watching rosy-fingered dawn creep up the valley first thing. Phenomenal value for money

Review 73:Lovely and friendly staff and a fabulous breakfast. Really comfortable hotel. Great views from the terrace.

Review 74:Parking space not easy to find.

Review 75:View, breakfast

Review 76:Everything !! An extra point for staff and view!!

Review 77:The breakfast tastes good. The rooms are new and clean.

Review 78:Location, friendly staff, overall value.

Review 79:Superb hospitality, greeted at the door with orange juice upon arrival

Review 80:Staff were lovely and very accommodating

Review 81:Even though we arrived very late, it was still possible to organise dinner for us. There was a very good breakfast served in the morning.

Review 82:The view from our room, the location, friendliness of staff

Review 83:Poor breakfast and conditioner noisy

Review 84:People very kind. Clean and good wifi

Review 85:Very warm and friendly welcome

Review 86:The hotel was quiet so our room was upgraded which was appreciated. The staff were particularly friendly.

Review 87:The owner gave us the warmest welcome and the hotel was spotless and comfortable and perfectly located for a walk to the museum and site.

Review 88:Amazing view from the terrace and great breakfast.

Review 89:Unfortunately the hotel is very loud so not a lot of sleep. The staff was really really amazing all it was still worth it!

Review 90:Staff overly fussy

Review 91:Not really a dislike, but a fridge in the room would have been nice.

Review 92:Great location. Friendly staff. Working air conditioning.

Review 93:Wifi was a bit temperamental, but hardly a huge concern.

Review 94:Close to Delphi - within a 10 minute walk. Friendly staff. Lovely views.

Review 95:location

Review 96:Our short stay :D

Review 97:Absolutely everything!!! Very lovely hosts, amazing view and good food.

Review 98:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very clean and our room had an amazing view!

Review 99:stayed only one night

Review 100:Location, room, breakfast, breakfast porch, staff

Review 101:Renovation not totally finished when we were there, but should be now for the peak summer season.

Review 102:Renovated interior

Review 103:Go for a sea view room as the view is fantastic. The staff are very friendly.

Review 104:1.The hotel was empty and we were placed in the ground floor, while in the 1st floor surely rooms were better. The welcoming lobby room and the main hall area were cold and dark, like there was nobody in.2.We found worms in the corn flakes and the butter was expired since 1(!!!) year. The coffee also was completely a mess (should had been there for years). The excuses from the reception were all a simple "we didn't notice it"

Review 105:The rooms were pretty warm and confortable, spacious enough and the bathroom had hot water instantly. The view was absolutely marvelous.

Review 106:The weird smell of the rooms. Something between an old castle and my grandmothers living room with no ventilation Even if the price was fair enough(60 €) it was unacceptable for the hotel not to even offer shampoo or shower gel.

Review 107:Location Friendly staff Price

Review 108:the staff was great and helpful with all of my friends. the breakfast was excellent. we felt like home there.

Review 109:The view from the balcony rooms is lovely and the staff are very helpful. It is a charming hotel.
