Reviews for Kilkenny Inn

Review 1:The pool had swimming lessons in progress for children the whole time we chose to swim so very tight for space

Review 2:The entertainment and the bar were great the bar food could be better but overall very enjoyable

Review 3:Carpet on stairs worn down looks grubby pitty otherwise excellent all round

Review 4:Spacious rooms excellent parking space lovely breakfast super staff very good all round

Review 5:Construction work going on near the hotel, but not at it. Guy with a jackhammer interrupted my afternoon nap! Not the Hotels fault though, but it would have been nice to know.

Review 6:2 Streets & 3 minutes walk from centre/nightlife. Taxi not necessary. Safe parking. Comfy bed.

Review 7:Was a bit surprised to be asked to pay in advance, but I realised why when the noisy stag party started shouting at 4am and nobody answered the phone in reception. Also nobody at reception the following morning when I left. A shame because the hotel was otherwise quite nice, clean and comfortable. I won't be going back though.

Review 8:The only downside was that there was no food available that night but we were warned in advance so no problem.

Review 9:Excellent location with good car park. Friendly helpful staff. Short walk to everything.

Review 10:Shaver socket didn't work and windows were locked so couldn't open to let in fresh air

Review 11:V friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast and room v comfortable

Review 12:Very good breakfast, with taste!!!, Easy access to train station, bus station.Very well appointed room, superb comfortable bed and crisp, silky soft linen. Very close to St Candice's Catheral and short stroll to the centre of town.

Review 13:The pillows were a little hard and there was some defects into the room (broken tiles and flush press) but in general it was a great hotel, I reccomend to everyone.

Review 14:The hotel was really clean and warm. The staff were lovely. The bed was really good and It was a very comfortable room. Only 5 minutes walk from the main street.

Review 15:Didn't like the foreign doorman as we were told by the owner that if we came in late he would serve us drink but we came in at half two one night and he took ages to open the front door and wen he did he refused to serve us drink untill we said the owner said we could get drink so he gave it to take back to the room. But we had to beg

Review 16:Loved how close it is to everything and how clean it is

Review 17:I asked for a double bed but got two singles. The bathroom wasn't clean and there was stains all over the carpet.

Review 18:Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 19:there is nothing bad here

Review 20:we arrived very early as we had to attend a funeral in Tipperary an hour and a half away.We were exhausted as we had travelled from Liverpool on the overnight ferry and as soon as we got on motorway we had a tyre blow at 5.30 am. We had to wait 3 hours fo ra garage to open,The hotel were extremely accomodating to our circumstances and gave us an early room to get changed and we cant thank them enough. We will use this hotel again.

Review 21:The location was ideal as my partner wanted to sightsee and shop.I appreciated the lift as I struggle with stairs. It was also super value for money and the parking was greatly appreciated also

Review 22:Brekafast would have been more suitable if it started at 7am rather than 7:30am

Review 23:Staff were very friendly. Excellent location in relation to the city centre

Review 24:Taxi place they rang for us charged us much more than taxi we got on the street to bring us home.

Review 25:The staff were very helpfull and lovely. Free parking.

Review 26:It was a pleasure to deal the man who worked at the reception and in the bar at night who was most efficient, helpful and pleasant and the breakfast staff in the morning were truly efficient bright hardworking people who all contributed to a restful break away.

Review 27:I have no complaints at all. At the price I paid, I don't think anybody could.

Review 28:A really nice place to stay. A very friendly girl at reception who was helpful. A nice short walk from town centre. Good breakfast and service.

Review 29:We really liked it there except for walking through one area at night. Not scary, but could have been uncomfortable at night for a person alone. Otherwise, it was superb!

Review 30:Location was within a short walk of downtown. Our room was very nice & above all clean. It felt relatively safe although I may not have gone out at night if I had been alone. We loved the hotel & the lady who checked us in was great. She answered all our questions & gave us directions & suggestions.

Review 31:The staff girl who was working when we checked in was not a little bit friendly. She also asked us for ID when using our credit card. I have a pin protected chip card and have never been asked for ID while using it.

Review 32:Close to attractions

Review 33:Nothing really although pillows weren't the best and mattress a bit hard the railing in the bathroom was very rusty but small complaints we would stay again!

Review 34:Good location within walking distance, friendly staff, free parking good wifi decent pint in bar breakfast good

Review 35:The only down side is that the wi-fi is only in the public areas, would be better if it was available in the rooms as well.

Review 36:The staff were amazing and I hope to return with my family soon.

Review 37:Noisy guests Payment required up front Surly staff at check-in No wifi in room Bare walls in room Mildew in bathroom

Review 38:Location Pleasant staff at checkout

Review 39:This hotel is in an ideal location. On arrival i found the reception staff unfriendly. All other staff were lovely. A bit pricey and breakfast was extra.

Review 40:No wifi in the rooms but down in lobby and bar area

Review 41:Kilkenny Inn was a fantastic little inn that was within walking distant to the town center and many attractions. The Inn and rooms were clean and comfortable.

Review 42:the appearance of the hotel frontage gave a poor impression. the inside was nice. offering food and evenings meals would be an advantage.

Review 43:good location and the service was very good.

Review 44:Wifi only available in reception area. Decor rather tired.

Review 45:Easy 5 minutes walk into town centre, hotel rather functional but clean and with comfortable bed. Free secure parking.

Review 46:Clean comfortable great breakfasts the staff were friendly and most helpful especially Dave and the receptionists who doubled up as waitresses for breakfast.Highly recommended value hotel bbetter than many 4 and 5 star establishments I have stayed in.

Review 47:Comfortable, pleasant staff, good choice at breakfast. Good location. Parking at the hotel. Tea / Coffee making facility in room & good quality biscuits.

Review 48:Iliked evwrthing about this hotel

Review 49:Everything very friendly staff lovely comfortable cosy hotel staff couldn't do enough for us and definitely be going back again soon breakfast was great as welll

Review 50:choice of tv channels was poor, and room rate was too expensive not to include a breakfast, not even a continental one

Review 51:room was comfortable and clean with a nice bathroom

Review 52:The rooms were very clean and nice, very close to the high street 5-7 min walk, staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice offers full irish, mini, eggs and cereal etc.

Review 53:All was fine

Review 54:Staff from reception to dining area were more than helpful. Special mention to young waitress for breakfast 'could not have been better' Many thanks to all!

Review 55:Took the stairway as room was on the first floor carpet was a bit dirty other than that could not fault this hotel

Review 56:The hotel was a few minutes walk to the main attractions, in a quiet area. Parking at rear of hotel meant you could park the car up and leave it till you were ready to leave again. The staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and ample size. plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance will use this hotel again.

Review 57:The residents bar closed far too early, it closed before 12 o clock. It was a Monday night alright but it was peak tourist season. Was looking forward to a few drinks before bed and we were told we couldn't get any.

Review 58:Bed was very comfortable and the room was very spacious.

Review 59:The staff were lovely, so warm and welcoming and helpful; the room comfortable and clean; the food was excellent and the location was brilliant - easy access to everywhere

Review 60:Bar down stairs very quiet not much happening init Friday nite and Saturday nite and dosn serve bar food but pints of smithwicks very good

Review 64:We were staying at front of hotel so noise from traffic was loud no wifi in bedrooms!!! But I would stay again as the staff and hotel were great!!!

Review 65:The staff were excellent as was the breakfast very clean rooms cleaned every day

Review 66:stiff beds, proximity above very busy street for rooms in the front of the building, wifi in lobby only

Review 67:Clean, low cost, good breakfast, pleasant staff, close to city center

Review 68:Fuse box in hotel room buzzed constantly and I needed to turn off the power to the room to make it stop. I reported this to the staff and they said 'oh noone has said that before'. Toilet seat and lock was broken. Carpet was stained, bed was uncomfortable

Review 69:Room was relatively clean

Review 70:No meals available, apart from breakfast, although there are plenty of cafés/restaurants nearby. The bar could have been livelier!

Review 71:Within walking distance of the main attractions but in a quiet location. Bright, clean room. 82 euro per night in high season is good value for money.

Review 72:Bar only opened in evenings, no atmosphere in hotel. Only 2 plug sockets in bedroom and that included tv.! Other sockets were round! Our room was in the front of the hotel on a busy street with heavy traffic.

Review 73:Beds very comfortable, staff friendly and efficient. Free parking. 5 mins walk from town.

Review 74:Walls between the bedrooms could be sound proofed better - the couple next door seemed to be having a lot of "fun". No food available in the evening but not a big issue for us as there was no shortage of places within walking distance.

Review 75:We liked this hotel a lot, on site parking, very good facilities (in line with our expectations), very friendly Staff, excellent breakfast service and comfortable surroundings.

Review 76:Not a lot of unliked here. In room 113 there was no hand rail over bath to assist entry and exit. More secure to have one there. Having to leave and weekend went by too quickly was a big dislike.

Review 77:Friendly welcome on arrival. Receptionist recommended restaurants and we were very pleased with them. Location ideal to the city, park the car and leave it in car park and stroll at your leisure. Breakfast room bright and airy. Cereal and fresh fruit Table had an ample supply. Cooked breakfast brought to our table of our desired choice. Tasty and an ample supply of toast. A very relaxing atmosphere and comfortable surroundings makes this the ideal place to stay.

Review 78:No wifi connection on 2nd floor & very poor connection on ground floor. Breakfast not cooked fresh, in my opinion food just left there for hours.

Review 79:Close to all pubs & shops. Very friendly & helpful reception staff. Nice quiet hotel, no late night noise! Slept very comfortably! Great location.

Review 80:hotel is a short walk to city centre the car park is at the back which is secure and free hotel room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable and it was great value for money

Review 81:Worst Guinness on the entire trip bar seldom used by patrons. No wifi in room no electrical points near the bed. Receptionist very sour didn't make anyone feel welcome

Review 82:Nice bed

Review 83:We had connecting rooms with a very flimsy door between us and a family .noise from the road and they decided that 9 o'clock was a great time to start drilling walls

Review 84:Apart from the noise it was fine

Review 85:There was a stag party staying at the hotel. They returned at 3 in the morning and remained very noisy until 5.20am. No reduction in the bill was made, because we had not complained during the night!!!

Review 86:Easy walking distance to the town.

Review 87:Beds were a little soft. There was room for a further single bed in our room which would have provided us with a family room rather than booking two twins. Wifi only available at reception.

Review 88:Comfortable, clean and quiet

Review 89:A little slow to fill up buffet in morning, had to ask for bowls and glasses as they had run out.

Review 90:5 minute walk to centre, staff helpful, extremely clean, would definitely stay here again.

Review 91:Even though this is a non smoking hotel, someone (next door to our room) was smoking in their room. You could smell it in our room and along the hall way.

Review 92:good value for money. Short walk (10 mins) to town centre.

Review 93:The waiter in the breakfast area on Sunday, the 26th of June was very difficult to deal with. He instantly asked my room number when I walked in, then did not serve me for about 20 minutes. Any effort to get his attention, quite loudly by the end, was ignored. I eventually had to ask the girl who was servicing the other side of the room for help. She was great.

Review 94:Location was good.

Review 95:The hotel was very over priced fro it's location and the quality of the hotel. It cost €90 for one night with no breakfast and an additional €10 each for breakfast which was average at best. Our daughter had previously paid for the hotel and we were nearly double charged due to staff incompetency All in all it was an overpriced hotel with a below average service..

Review 96:Would be good to have wifi in the rooms. And the hair dryers could be a bit more powerful, but that being picky .

Review 97:Very friendly owners and relaxed atmosphere and conveniently close to the town centre. very comfy beds!!

Review 98:No wifi in room.

Review 105:Nothing

Review 106:Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean, comfortable and within walking distance to the city centre. It was ideal for our trip.

Review 107:There was no restaraunt as advertised. Price wise a bit on the high side. Our

Review 108:The beds were very comfortable with a lovely soft Dona. The bar had a nice comfortable friendly atmosphere.

Review 109:Could do with some more TV channels

Review 110:Location - close to city centre. Can walk there in 10 mins. Free parking. Breakfast was lovely. Great value for money.

Review 111:-Very small room -Bar was taken over by a meeting of some kind so I didn't feel comfortable going in there, They had asked to turn the music off also! (Surely there's a function room for this??) -No food served in the hotel. Had to go out to eat -No wifi

Review 112:The location was pretty good.

Review 113:The wifi seemed to only work downstairs, the sheets were so crispy they could have done with being softer. Our room was at the front of the hotel on the road so not ideal if your not an early riser as was quite loud.

Review 114:Staff on the bar were friendly and helpful, the rooms were a decent size and very clean. Everything we needed were in the rooms. The bed was comfortable. Very yummy breakfast!

Review 115:Warm welcome with offer of choice of rooms. Free car parking on site. Recommendation for a local French style restaurant "Campagne" which was truly excellent.

Review 116:Rooms on third level were rather small and design resulted in some danger to bumping your head against structure.

Review 117:Free secure parking. Quality Breakfast. Cozy Bar. Safe location.

Review 118:We stayed for one night. Our room was lovely and had all the necessities supplied. This is a lovely hotel. The staff very friendly and attentive. The front desk helped us find a doctor and gave directions to tourist attractions.

Review 119:Bar had no atmosphere or didn't serve food , very unusual for a hotel , it would put me off staying again .

Review 120:I thought the rooms were fab , the reception staff were lovely

Review 121:a little "dreary" and not much of a view. The carpets needed cleaning.. clean and comfortable enough other than that though.

Review 122:ok place to stay for the night - but not somewhere I would like to stay for several days. It was clean and comfortable enough for the night.

Review 123:nice hotel near all pubs, restaurants etc all in walking distance. Quick and easy checkin. Double And single bed, both comfortable. Bath and shower in clean bathroom. Nicely decorated room. Couldn't connect to the WIFI. Friendly and helpful night porter. Would stay again and recommend.

Review 124:hotel room was too hot, had trouble keeping the radiator off, handle over bath was loose

Review 125:staff were very helpful and allowed friends to visit in reception area at all hours as I was researching

Review 126:Bar man was not friendly, gave a very bad impression especially to tourists. Decor needs updating - even painting a better colour would be an improvement

Review 127:The location and good breakfast. Receptionist pleasant

Review 128:The water was not draining from the sink in Bathroom. It was fixed when we informed them. The light over the sink did not work. We could not see through the window because of adhesive on it. No view.

Review 129:Beds comfortable. Blankets were provided at our request.

Review 130:advertised as serving food only to discover they do not provide any only at breakfast time

Review 131:for the price was excellent place within walking distance of all kilkennys attractions staff very pleasant free car park clean comfortable hotel

Review 132:Quick walk into town. Killkenny castle was on the other side of town and only a 10 minute walk. The hotel was perfect for an overnight stay. Room was comfortable and breakfast was filling.

Review 133:no food served during the day. Breakfast was only fair..bad smell in hallway downstairs and outside..staff wer nice but didn't look interested..

Review 134:Rooms were quite nice..few minutes walk to centre..free parking at hotel..
