Reviews for The Central, Buncrana

Review 1:I'm a light sleeper and I read in several reviews that there was an obnoxious noise problem and a terrible problem with the light, I slept fine. Although there is noise outside Enough to disturb my girlfriend, but I can't fault the hotel for boy racers In the car park, that's an issue for the Garda.

Review 2:I'll put my summary at the top instead of the bottom for anyone who doesn't want the full description. Comfortable, Central, private, charming, friendly, independent are all words i would use to describe my stay here. I recently stayed at The buncrana central hotel, although I would hesitate to call it a hotel as you are pretty much left to your own devices, which was perfect for us, it was nice having privacy and at times we felt like we were the only guests as we rarely saw anyone else. Buncrana is definitely a good location to choose when visiting Donegal as it is central to some of the best sites in Donegal. We lifted a free map from the lobby and used this to navigate and find points of interest as well as using road signs. The lobby is stacked with information on things to keep you occupied, we brought cards and monopoly but never even opened them in the four days we spent, despite the horrible weather we we still treated to stunning views and landmarks. When we arrived there was a number to call and the staff then gave us the code to admit us to the lobby where we waited not even five minutes for somebody to arrange our rooms. The staff arrived promptly and explained the breakfast was self serve and we had not trouble upgrading our room. We upgraded to super king size which was very spacious, very tidy and very modern. I am envious of their shower, makes me want a new one, excellent pressure, clearly well maintained. The fridge is stocked with a breakfast, generally a fresh baked scone, jam, butter, cereal bar, yoghurt and a drink. There is cereal downstairs which you can help yourself to and by the time we got through that we just took the food parcels with us as a packed lunch. Tea and coffee sachets are replenished everyday and a few biscuits laid out too.

Review 3:No asmosphere , breakfast left in fridge in our room, not really a hotel no bar no restaurant, but priced as a hotel an called a hotel ,

Review 4:Location & it was clean

Review 5:FAR FAR too expensive. Hotel price for basic accommodation facility. The breakfast consisted of cereal and a banana. Friends stayed in a local hotel with buffet breakfast and on site gym etc and paid less than we did. We didn't mind not having breakfast but the price was way over the top.

Review 6:The room was lovely, tidy and clean

Review 7:No breakfast, packed lunch provided day before - no staff on site to provide additional items such as milk etc - is a bit self service here. Have to remember to have your post it note with door code on

Review 8:Centrally located on Main Streef

Review 9:Didn't get a good nights sleep, despite the comfortable bed, as a green LED on the ceiling which couldn't be turned off was frustrating.

Review 10:Very clean and modern, comfortable and stylish.

Review 11:nothing

Review 12:There is no reception as such you have to call a number, owner on site at time so this was not an issue for us and we were able to check in early rooms on the smaller side but beautifully decorated and bathrooms the same but slightly larger than expected there is a mini fridge in the room which had two bags for us for breakfast which contained fruit yoghurt, breakfast bar, very nice fruit scone butter and jam and we could help ourselves to boxes of cereal on the way in and fresh mini bottles of milk in our room fridge. Very nice, very central

Review 13:Didn't like that this is more of a upmarket bed sit than a hotel.i had to ring to get code to get in.i met no 1 till next morning.and your breakfast is in a fridge in your room.

Review 14:It's a place not long open I'd imagine so it is very clean

Review 15:Very friendly staff Bed very comfortable Lovely decor Very clean Great ensuite with power shower and really hot water Central to the town Plenty of info on surrounding area in foyer.

Review 16:Stale scones in fridge for breakfast not nice, other stuff fine, I prefer a cooked breakfast when staying in b&b's

Review 17:Nice clean rooms good location

Review 18:Unlocking the door to the B&B may require a phone call if unattendedon arrival. Our motorcycles remained intact, despite their nights out ina public car park. For breakfast I would have liked muesli and to have atable and chairs to eat at, but this is a very minor niggle.

Review 19:An unusual B&B which suited us perfectly. Breakfast is diy, withprovisions placed in your room each day when serviced. A fridge keepsthe milk fresh as well as ensuring you never need to have utterlyhorrible tasting milk in your tea. Breakfast consists of cereals, scones, yoghurt, cereal bars and fresh fruit, it can be eaten wheneveryou like, or taken out for a picnic. The high ceilinged old hotelbuilding has been beautifully restored to a commendably high standard, with no expense spared on classy curtains and quality fittings. En-suiteshower rooms are classically styled with super showers. Wifi workedwell. All rooms are upstairs. Beds and bedding are good quality andextremely comfortable. Most windows are double glazed. We stayed on abusy Saturday & Sunday night, the town was buzzing with revellers. We slept well and awoke refreshed. Situated in a one way street on theright hand side at 10 Lower Main Street, right in the busy town centre.A public walkway leads under the building to a large pay & displaycar park. Vehicular access is at another point in the one way system:turn right into the car park shortly after passing an impressively largeand rather classical looking St. Mary’s Church on your left.

Review 20:We had a couple of unfortunate things happen that could start a day off badly if you were on a business trip or going to a wedding. However, the staff dealt with this extremely quickly and to our satisfaction. There is no dining room, so the breakfast is a kind of continental affair stored in the fridge, which may put some off. HOWEVER, it was adequate for all that.

Review 21:Nice rooms, clearly recently refurbished, though attention to detail would improve overall impression (brush marks on fittings, etc). Very comfy bed and on the main drag of Buncrana. Staff in the morning couldn't be more helpful.

Review 22:The beds are amazingly comfortable, the room was very clean, modern and bright, the owner was very friendly and even paid for our parking on Sunday morning so we didnt have to get up! Great location in the middle of town, close to friendly pubs.

Review 23:Although a good bag full of goodies in the fridge - would have liked a breakfast at a table and not in our room on a tray .also the green safety light in the ceiling made it difficult to sleep.

Review 24:Right in the heart of the town - close to everything including waterside walks - with easy parking behind the building. -

Review 25:More signage would be useful to explain where to go and about breakfast etc. We didn't see the breakfast 'bag' (although delicious!) in the fridge until the following morning as we packed up to leave. The council washing the street loudly outside at 7:45am the following morning was deafening!! Buzzers buzzing, loud beeping noises, washing and rushing water, loud lorry noises went on for 10-15mins and was impossible to sleep through....not the Central's fault but was it really necessary on a Sunday morning, after a heavy day's rain the previous day, to disrupt people's sleep after 7 in the morning like this?.......

Review 26:It was strange to walk in and have no reception or receptionist lol but it was clean, very comfortable and good value. When we found breakfast in the fridge it was lovely and very filling. TV was good and bathroom was lovely, great shower!!

Review 27:There isn't one bad thing I can say. For the record, breakfast is in the refrig in your room (fruit, scone, yogurt, granola bar, and juice). Also, there isn't any interaction with a B&B owner per say. Its a self serving B&B/hotel.

Review 28:Our bed mattress was fantastic, which was hard to find on our trip. The shower was fabulous. The room itself was really nice. It was obviously just renovated from top to bottom.

Review 29:bright green light on ceiling kept me awake and breakfast could have been better.

Review 30:Excellent staff, exceptionally clean, comfortable bed, good sized room

Review 31:We would have like a cooked breakfast instead of the continental breakfat on offer. If the breakfast was different it would get a 10/10 from us.

Review 32:We loved the location and room

Review 33:Would have been nice to have been met at the accommodation but this could have been due to our arrival time, also no one turned up when we left to receive payment but an alternative solution was arranged. Perhaps some cereal for breakfast and bowls/plates could be provided?

Review 34:Very comfy bed and wonderful complimentary room upgrade as wrong room key was left out. Secure building with keypad entry.

Review 35:Location for visiting this fabulous area is exceptional. We were upgraded on arrival, complimentary drinks at the local pub and even a safe place to store our motorbike!!

Review 36:We stayed for one night only and it was excellent. It was right in the centre of town but was quiet at night. Very clean and the continental breakfast was great. The lady that greeted us was extremely helpful and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this property and would definitely return again for a longer stay!
